Everything needs to improve the server Maria B. and management does not care for there customers. We waited for more than 2 hours to get served and she was rude to me and my boyfriend. Worst food to eat especially the street tacos I ended up getting a stomach ache and got sick from it. José is the BEST WAITER in the world! We live right next to the Woodland Hills El Torito and make the trip to this El Torito because of José. He knows all the details of what we like and is prompt at providing. We never have to ask for a refill-he's so on top of it! He comes back to check on us often and cleans all the used dishes and napkins-keeping our table nice and tidy! The buffet is amazing here for lunch. It's delicious! José is not bothered if we askhim for extra limes or salsa or whatever. He truly makes the meal! I highly recommend coming here for the lunch buffet---and ask for José! read more

I visited El Torito in Northridge with my 13-year-old child to use my advertised birthday free entrée offer. From the beginning, I clearly explained that my entrée should be complimentary and that I would pay only for my child's meal. However, I was initially charged for both myself and my child. I do not understand why I was being charged for my meal when I had a valid free entrée offer, or why my child was being charged an adult price. His meal was originally listed at $13.50, but the manager repeatedly changed it to $29, then $17, and then back to $29. The manager, Eduardo, was dismissive and told me I did not have to pay anything. That was not the point. I was not asking for free food. I simply wanted to be charged correctly for my child's meal and have my birthday offer applied properly. We barely ate because the food was disappointing, and the confusing billing situation ruined what was supposed to be a nice birthday meal with my child. I hope management reviews the billing procedures and staff training at this location. read more

Our party had made a reservation for today, Father's Day-walked past the hoards of people waiting as our reservation was at 10:00am and it was a bit past it... To find out that the person who took the reservation put it on the incorrect day! Enter Wendy, the manager who was there helping the host. Not only did she say she'd take care of us, she was so extremely helpful and hospitable with our party (that included 3 young girls eager to eat) , and she sat us almost right away. I'll never forget her! She could have easily been overwhelmed with how many people there were, how many people were impatiently waiting to eat, her staff asking her questions, customers etc... But instead it felt like it was just us! She was incredible and we even sat at the most perfect location!!! After we sat down it was only a few minutes for our server, Sherie, to come and take our drink order. She was so on top of everything, from drinks to refills, to anything we needed the entire time! She never stopped smiling and continued the whole time we were there to make sure we were happy! In the end, even though it was Father's Day... My husband snuck the check, paid and paid extra tip to Sherie and because she was SO good my father gave her even more tip-cash on the side. So in all, the service was stellar, the food was absolutely phenomenal and our entire party was beyond happy. The receptionist welcomed us and asked if we would be interested in their buffet at $19.95pp. She invited us to check out the buffet line to see if we'd like to try it. Walking along the line we saw a fresh taco station, soup, salad bar, dessert bar and the main entrees with all the fixings. We were immediately sold. Food was delicious as expected and service was very attentive. We got fresh salsa and chips which were so delicious. Honestly the food was so good that we didn''t know which one to eat first. Everything was fabulous. At these prices we feel that it was worth it. Will definitely keep this in our regular favorite restaurant list. The place gives you that authentic Mexican vibe without the clutter. They have a marvelously updated toilet/Wash room very very clean and modern. I recommend this place. I've been noticing that there are almost no reviews that mention the weekday buffet lunch. So my blushing bride and I tried it out this week. We both like El Torito and their Mexican food, no mattter how "gringo" it may be. It's comforting. And to get to sample a lot of everything is a real bonus! The variety of foods is actually quite good, from soup-and-salad to dessert. The favorites are there - chile colorado, chile verde, chicken, sauteed vegetable, "Spanish" rice, and two kinds of beans. And, of course, the El Torito corn mush. A lady was there making tortillas and tacos - beef, chicken and pork. A taco topping bar had everything one might want plus more. We enjoyed a lot of food. The dessert was the only thing that wasn't enjoyed. We did experience a bit of cold food, which we mentioned to the manager. He took immediate responsibility and checked the food that was in the buffet. It seems that we were early in the lunch hour and may have been eating from the first trays of food, which may not have been fully heated. Plus the plates were cold. The manager's immediate response and kind words were really appreciated. Even when we lived in Cali for several years we frequented El Torito's and were never disappointed, we frequent this one whenever we visit LA because it is the closest to our daughters home in the Valley. Living in the UK where Mexican food is simply hardly available, and (in my experience) good Mexican food doesn't exist :(. So yes I was CRAVING Mexican food - which might bias my review. But OMG it was DELICIOUS - I had the top of the line Margarita (with the added shot of Grand Marnier) and it was to die for!!! I had to drive home afterwards otherwise I would not have stopped at one! Our servers were stellar and the service and ambiance were overall excellent - the atmosphere was welcoming, a buzz that was just right, the chips and salsa were great (yes we had refills!!) We made our reservation for our Mother's Day brunch 2 weeks in advance. Our reservation was for 11:30 am which they changed to 12:30 pm without even notifiying us. We got there facing a huge crowd, It took 1 full hour just to check in with a reservation. After waiting outside in the hot sun with no where to sit for another 1.5 hours, we finally complained so much that we were seated. By then, we were all very hungry and the food was running out. Dessert table was empty. The lines for the food were extremely long with everyone aggravated, pushy and rude. There were not enough waiters to help. There was no ice for drinks, no salsa for our Mexican food, many of the food dishes were either cold or empty. What was supposed to be a fun family Mother's Day turned into a disaster. Our bill was $310 plus tip which was outrageous for that quality of food. Also, a surcharge was of $13.50 was added to the bill, who even know what that was for. Slow to take our order. Slow to get our food. Slow to get our check. Food was not hot and was meh. Roof leaked. Bathroom was not clean. I got a peak at the register area. Trash can was overflowing.
