I have a talent for sniffing out bullshit and shady characters, especially when it comes to mechanics, doctors, and salesmen. Chris and his crew at Electron are far from any of that. I got the quick impression that he was extremely honest and genuine from the first time I talked to him. Here's why: 1) During a full car inspection, Chris walked me through and showed me each part on my car that would need to be replaced soon, explained exactly why it would need to be replaced, the very reasonable cost, and which item was highest priority. 2) They cleaned my hybrid battery fan for 1/10th the price Toyota of Orange quoted me (no exaggeration). 3) This is a family owned business. This might sound trivial, but while I was paying one of the technicians for my bill, Chris was over in the corner playing with his young daughter, as happy as can be. He seems like a very kind dude that cares about his family and the people that work for him. 4) Excellent customer service from everyone I ran into. I had a 15 minute conversation with one of his crew about World of Warcraft: Classic that is about to launch. Yes we geeked out, but it was nice chatting with a bunch of cool mechanics that A) don't call you "Boss" and B) don't have any ridiculous neck or face tattoos. Had my 2011 Toyota Prius Hybrid battery pack replaced for less than half of what the dealer was charging me, plus it came with 3 years/45,000 miles warranty something the dealership did not offer. I would like to highly recommend Electron Automotive in Orange. My son recommended them to me, and I have never looked back. The owner Chris personally called me to apologize about the misunderstanding and offered to pick up my car to fix my dashboard screen and deliver it to my home. I guess the lady who I initially spoke to wasn't very detailed on what my car needed, and things where misunderstood. Chris was kind enough to call and remedy the situation. I applaud them for this and it's the reason why I'm giving them 5 stars. Oh, and most importantly my car is running like new since the new battery was replaced. This place was the first mechanic I've really felt that I could trust in a long time. Chris really was great about listening to the issue and explaining things to me so I understood what was going on with my car. Also, if you have a hybrid, you definitely should think about going to a specialist like this. I had the same car issue for awhile and taking it to a regular mechanic got me nowhere. I had only had the car for 5 mths when it stopped. My tow guy recommended me to Electron. From the time i met them i was and remain impressed. I work as a case manger and i know how angry and frustrated clients can rub a person the wrong way. But not Joe. I walked in the door and it was like meeting up with a friend. These guys did GREAT. I purchased a 2nd gen battery rebuild kit from them. After I rebuilt and installed my battery assembly into the car it would not start. Chris helped me troubleshoot the car over the phone and helped me get everything running. My prius is more than a decade old, so I was pretty worried when it started flashing a warning light I hadn't seen before. I made an appointment at a dealership service section, but walked out because of how they were treating me, and luckily called electron. They were able to give me a quote over the phone, and work on my car immediately. They even had toys and crayons to entertain my daughter and water and coffee in their waiting area. And my car was finished before the time the dealership would have even looked at it, despite the appointment I'd made (and for a lot less money)! Disappointed and perplexed... My daughter's Prius was fixed by Electron Automotive 14 1/2 months ago. We gave them $1,300 in January, 2019 to rebuild the battery. They seemed great at the time. Today, my daughter's dashboard is all lit up. I showed up at EA this afternoon with $2,000 in my pocket looking for a solution. I wanted to understand what our options were. From the get-go, they were overly focused on the fact that the one year warranty had lapsed. They just kept repeating that the fix they did on the battery last year was out of warranty. I told them I was hearing them and that I understood the warranty on the battery had lapsed, but was hoping we could get creative, together. Their answer, "no." They refused to run diagnostics on the car to confirm what the problem was without charging me $100. I was really surprised by their refusal. If I had previously worked on the car, I would have wanted to run diagnostics simply to confirm the work I had done on the car was not the issue. I asked if they would consider some kind of "repeat customer, repeat car" discount on either a gold or platinum package. Their answer, "no." Again, I was really surprised. Really surprised! They let a person with $2,000 in his pocket drive away simply because they wanted to say "no" today. If they would have knocked a couple hundred dollars off the price they were looking for on a Platinum package -- if they would have treated me like someone they knew and someone they had done business with before -- they would be fixing my daughter's car right now. Funny thing about this is Electron Automotive works on electric and hybrid cars, and they let a guy who owns two Teslas and a Prius just drive away. These guys may know a lot about how to fix cars, but they know very little about the lifetime value of a customer. read more

Wow these guys are incredible. When I got my 2007 Honda civic hybrid I had no idea that the IMA battery didn't have a shelf life that would match the car itself. Lucky when my battery did start to die I found Chris and his crew at Electron Automotive. These guys are amazing, and are really reasonable when it comes to pricing. I was super lucky to have found this place and would recommend them to everyone who has a hybrid. Chris at Electron is very competent and trust worthy mechanic/owner of a auto repair shop. I had some problems with our Prius, a 2009 with the warning lights, or as my daughter calls the "red triangle of death" warning light. He was recommended by a local guy to me and he dropped everything to just jump in and hooked up a sensor and reader. Chris confidently told me ahead of time what code would come up and what the defect is from Toyota that makes this happen. He was 100% right and noticed another issue as we spoke. Quoted me a price, had the parts in stock and completed it very quickly and efficiently. I've always taken this 120,000 mile car to a local Toyota dealer, mostly because it is a hybrid with an electric motor and generator motor...a bit more complicated than what most guys can do or have any experience with. Chris is trained in electrical engineering, but also works all cars. I know cars pretty well, and he was very honest, upfront and accurate. His prices are way better than the dealer and I'm not getting up sold and all the BS from the dealer. Compare prices and you'll see, but you'll also get a very competent and nice mechanic to work on your hybrid or other vehicle. read more

It is so nice to be able to give a good review on an auto repair shop. I just had to post a bad one on another place but I am very pleased with Electron Automotive. After hearing a lot of potential nightmares from the other place about what might be wrong with my car, Electron told me right up front how much it was going to be to diagnose the issue and do a complete inspection. The price was reasonable, so I went ahead. Based on what the other place 'diasnosed', I was expecting possibly bad coils, rods, pistons; major engine work. Very pleased to hear it only needed a tuneup. They had me in and out in less than two hours and the car runs great! They also texted me a comprehensive report of the inspection complete with pictures and repairs I will need to take care of 'down the road'. If you own a hybrid,this place is definitely a keeper! They were also friendly and have a clean waiting room with accommodations. While I was waiting, there was a local car dealer waiting for one of his cars to get checked up. Buyer be ware! I had my prius towed to this shop, which is located 15 miles from my home, because they offered to do a free inspection and let me know if the car was worth fixing. They gave me a list of about 3k worth of work that needed done to make it operational and another 2-3k that should be done at a later time. Luckily my battery was still under warranty so I had it replaced and then authorized Chris to do the other $900 worth of work. AFTER I paid for the work to be done, they let me know that because the battery had been dead the recommended repairs were just a list of everything that is typically needed for Prius' I was shocked. I went home and dug out all of the receipts for every repair I'd had done on the vehicle and found that the water pump they replaced had ALREADY BEEN REPLACED 9 MONTHS EARLIER AND WAS NOT NECESSARY!!!!!!! I then found 2 other items on the recommended list that were also already done. What kind of shop does this?! It would have been different if they had disclosed that information BEFORE doing the repairs. It is really hard to know who you can trust in the automotive business, and sadly, guys like this give the honorable shops a bad name. read more
