I had been thinking about getting laser hair removal, and when I finally sat down to pick a place, and started to do research, I read all these reviews that said that laser doesn't always work (ETC) and electrolysis was still a thing. Did you know it's still a thing? It is, and it works! Nicole is very friendly, professional, well versed in her art, and thoughtful about your treatment. I recommend picking up a tube of super numb (30g) from Amazon and applying that in advance to take off the edge. Oh man these people are my favorite people ever. I've been seeing ElectroYogi founder Nicole for years, but today I saw Vanessa (another electrologist). Both are AMAZING and I know I will continue to see both! The experience is extremely laid back - you park in a comfortable suburban neighborhood, wait for your appointment in a sunny backyard waiting area. Nicole/Vanessa are very easy going and friendly and will explain the process in easy to understand ways. They have worked on the standard hairs for me (upper lip) but have also worked on more difficult to treat areas (bikini, under arm) with ease and great success. I have been going here for about a year now. I have seen Nicole, Vanessa, and Sarah (who is gone now) and have loved every one of them. I pretty much had the worst facial hair ever. I was paying for threading every week for my lip and chin for years and thought I needed to do something more permanent. Being a veteran of hair removal and obsessed with removing every single hair from my body, I've tried lots of different methods over many many years. Nevermind shaving, waxing and hair-desolving creams, I've done 3 different kinds of laser. The first time (9 years ago) burned me and left me big ugly scars. Still deteremined to remove hair from my body, I went to a different laser place which successfully removed 90% of the hairs from my arms and legs. That was 7 years ago in a different state and after at least $10,000/8 treatments/3 years (the prices has come down since then). The third laser place that I went to was here in Beverly Hills when I decided to remove underarm and bikini hair. After sessions after sessions and paying hundreds each time, I saw no results. When I asked them how come there is no result after 6-7 sessions, all they could tell me was to keep going for more sessions and eventually it might work (but no guarantees of course). The laser place in beverly hills had a great doctor who was very professional and seemed knowledgeable except that it gave me no results. So I came to yelp and decided to try ElectroYogi for the first time. I started back in April (so 5 months ago?) and just decided right away to start on my underarm an bikini since I already spent thousands on laser on these areas with no results. I thought electrolysis would be really slow (like 1 minute per hair) but it was not!! I should've done electrolysis long ago!! Each hair takes like 1 second (+ the time of moving to the next hair) so Nicole was able to get rid of big areas in pretty short periods of time (1 hour clears big areas) I was also very excited that electrolysis works on little peach fuzz as well!! Laser was never to get those hairs that are so small. How do I know that its working? I have no hair anymore on my underarms and bikini! Once every 4 weeks or so I would get 1 hair but Nicole would zap it and it'll be gone forever! It's reassuring to know that whatever Nicole works on will ACTUALLY disapear (compared to laser, you never know if it's gonna work or not). We worked on my knees (which the many laser sessions did not work at all), fingers, neckline, bikini and underarms. Yes if you are planning to do full leg its might be time consuming with electrolysis. You can try laser first and see if it works (and laser at the best leaves some stray hairs here and there anyways) and maybe try to have Nicole clean it up for you. But I recommend all my friends who aren't getting great results from laser to try Nicole. I was going in an hour at a time back in April (every 2 weeks) and nowadays I go in once a month for touch ups. I would definitely recommend Nicole for smaller areas like underarms and bikini and any sort of peach fuzz. It really doesn't hurt to set up a first consultation and see immediate results and decide if you like electrolysis or not. Nicole is very good at electrolysis and you will ask yourself why didn't you start sooner once you start. There is a reason why Nicole has many many clients! Before coming to ElectroYogi I had been doing laser hair removal sessions with less than satisfactory results. Finally fed up with the poor results of laser hair removal I sought a better place to get my hair removed permanently. I found ElectroYogi on yelp and I decided to give electrolysis a try. I read online that electrolysis is the only FDA approved method of permanent hair removal. I initially wanted to try electrolysis before laser hair removal but I heard many reviews stating that electrolysis is more painful. I had many questions and concerns about electrolysis but Nichole answered them all. The first session for new customers is a consultation session with Nicole where you talk about where you want to get treatment and you sign papers and she gives you an explanation of how electrolysis works. After we discussed everything it was finally time to begin my session on my face. I was actually quite surprised the pain wasn't that bad for working on the face, because the facial hairs on the male body are probably the thickest and coarsest compared to the rest of the body. The pain associated with electrolysis in my opinion is actually less than laser. Electrolysis targets one hair follicle at a time, whereas with laser it targets many hair follicles at once so the added number of hair follicles equals more pain! Another great thing about electrolysis since it focuses on one hair follicle at a time it makes it possible to work on delicate areas where exact precision is needed, like the eyebrows and sideburns. With laser you can't target exactly which hair follicles you want to remove because the area treated is a small circle so you're limited in precision. I have been going to ElectroYogi for a couple months now and I have been working exclusively on my face and I must say I love the results. Some advice I can offer for people who are considering electrolysis to make the whole experience less painful and more enjoyable are. * Use moisturizer every day on the areas you want worked on. Apparently if your skin is hydrated Nicole doesn't have to use such a high intensity for your hair follicles to come out! * I notice with laser or electrolysis after each session redness and swelling is inevitable, but you can minimize this by using moisturizer so Nicole doesn't have to use such a high intensity for your hair follicle to come out. Also the swelling isn't that bad I would say it lasts about 2 to 3 hours at most. After the swelling goes away you'll be left with small micro red dots, the size of needle pricks, on the areas where the hair follicles were zapped. The red dots should go away after three days. * In my opinion you should always cleanse, moisturize and put some type of SPF protection on the areas you worked on, this will help the skin heal faster and also protect it from getting infected. read more

I want to preface this review with a big THANK YOU to the yelpers before me and also let everyone know I have NEVER wrote a yelp review before. I have been holding out on writing a review for fear that one day Nicole would zap me into oblivion and then I would mislead other people into thinking this place was amazing. Well...It hasn't happened yet and I highly doubt it ever will! I had a bunch of fears coming into this whole "hair gone forever" thing. I am african-american and was scared of scarring. I was super skeptical if it was possible for hair to really be gone "forever". I am also nineteen, a wuss when it comes to pain AND was extremely worried that people wouldn't want to deal with me if something goes wrong during the whole "electro-healing" process. Vanessa is quick yet efficient, and it's not as painful with her. However, my third time there was with Erin, and I could tell the difference in expertise early on in my session. Erin is lovely and fresh into her career, but I think her being a novice is clear in her work, and I, unfortunately, had poor results because of it. She took a bit longer with each hair than Vanessa, and it felt like she couldn't zap and get the hair out as efficiently. The extra pain was fine, but it was frustrating to pay the same hourly rate for a session that didn't come close to getting as many hairs as a session with Vanessa. And on top of that, I had a breakout after my session with Erin that led to more redness, ingrowns, and scarring than I'd gotten with Vanessa or my other electrolysis place. I was referred to Kat at Electroyogi by a trusted doctor and friend. She is amazing! Very conscientious, is great at explaining the process, answering questions and setting expectations of the results/timeline. She is very responsive when I schedule with her and wonderful to work with. Very friendly-- my lovely chats with her makes the sessions fly by and distracts me if it hurts a little! I've been very pleased with my results so far.
