One of the best meals I've had in Vancouver. My friends and I went with the "let us cook for you" tasting menu ($125 for the larger set menu in Mar 2026) which was an amazing experience. Best dishes/standouts (10/10): - scallops - the sauce was to die for. My friend and I both voiced wanting to lick the plate. I really hope they make this a regular dish. - lamb skewers - incredibly tender, flavours deeply soaked into the meat - tuna tartare with chutney flavours - Chicago mix popcorn dessert - SO interesting and creative, a must try Very good (8-9/10): - wagyu in a sweet Vietnamese style sauce - cavatelli dumplings - duck - veal - croquettes - venison tartare with what tasted like potato chip pieces (in a good way) - an additional tart refreshing dessert the name of which I forget Okay: - Brussels sprouts - the only thing I felt was fine but forgettable All the cocktails were great to fantastic, well balanced, with some interesting flavour profiles. Service was phenomenal and ambiance was upscale, intimate. Overall one of the best meals I've had in Vancouver and IMO better than some of the Michelin starred restaurants - definitely better portions for value (at least for now...). My brother took me here for my birthday and it was a pleasant evening. Staff is attentive and explained every drink/dish that came out. Portions are very small for the price. All of the dishes were beautifully presented, creative and tasty. We ordered 6 dishes to share and it was timed to come out one after the other. Went to Elem to try out their DOV menu recently and had quite an enjoyable experience trying out their creations. The restaurant is popular and I did find it quite hard to book a table for but was lucky enough to grab a 8pm seating two weeks prior. Upon arrival they have a very organized system where they check in your coats and seat you. Service was very friendly and they know how to take care of you. Because our seating was a little later in the night they ran out of the beef cheeks dish in the DOV menu and was able to make an exception for us to allow us to order a few items from the regular menu instead of both having the DOV menu. We ordered the Yellowfin Tuna Bhel, Confit Duck Leg, White Chocolate Cremeux, Grilled Lamb Skewers, Dungeness Crab Toast, and Wagyu Bavette Steak. The Yellowfin Tuna Bhel has a very unique use of East Indian spices have never tried before in any raw fish dish and was my favourite. Dungeness Crab Toast dish replaced their Prawn Toast dish - which was what I was really looking forward to unfortunately. I was expecting a bit more for the Dungeness Crab Toast but it felt like it was crab meat topped on toast in dish of butter chicken like sauce. Very creative way to incorporate the sauce in a non standard way but I felt they could had added more effort to the crab on top for the price of the dish. Everything else was pretty good overall and beautifully plated. Dishes were very quick to arrive as well. A nice restaurant for a special occasion or a special date night. read more

This restaurant is definitely the kind of place you'd take a date to impress them. The atmosphere and presentation are beautiful, but when it comes to the food itself, I found most of it pretty average. The only dishes that really stood out to me were the popcorn cake dessert and the elk tartare, both were genuinely excellent. One thing that made me laugh was the cocktail presentation. They used a giant cube of ice to make the drink look fancy, but it took up about 90% of the glass, so my overpriced non-alcoholic cocktail ended up being only a few sips. Honestly, if you removed the upscale vibe, high prices, and reputation of being an award-winning restaurant, I don't think I would've guessed it was supposed to be fine dining. A lot of the dishes just didn't feel very special. Not to sound egotistical, but some of the food honestly tasted like something I could make at home myself. I also think the bread service should be complimentary. Paying extra for bread and then receiving such a tiny loaf felt disappointing. Beyond the food, the bathroom audio was honestly strange and uncomfortable. There were loud recordings of a woman and sometimes a man, speaking while I was trying to use the restroom, which felt more awkward than immersive. read more

Came for a date night out and they made it so memorable. We did the tasting menu where they make what you're vibing for and it was heavenly. Shaun/Sean (sorry can't remember the spelling) was our waiter and he went above and beyond to make sure everything tasted to our likings. The cocktails were unique - I had the banana one. The appetizers were fresh and unique with hints of mint or cilantro in the dishes adding that Indian flair. The butter popcorn dessert was devine (but I'm a serious popcorn enthusiast so maybe if you're not that into popcorn I would skip. ) It's a bit dim and be prepared to spend a pretty penny on this night out but I would definitely go again. Great service from the moment we got there to when we left. Our server was really great at explaining the menu to us and answering some of our questions. They also had a cupboard for coats to hang at the entrance In terms of the food: it is pricey so do keep that in mind. Each dish varies in size and the server told us of some of them being 'appie' style or shareable style. It was interesting to see some of the dishes or drinks have a bit of a twist to it in some ways. It was interesting to understand the concept of earth, water, fire and air. Would I want to come back again? Yes, but I don't think I would come back very often. read more

This is the most modern/contemporary restaurant I've been to in Vancouver. The restaurant embodies the 4 elements: earth, water, air, fire. Being a foodie, the quality and presentation of the food is far more important to me than the concept and marketing. Paying a lot for food does not enhance my taste buds unfortunately. Between the 4 of us, we ordered 7 things to try. The bill was around $525. Portion sizes were small, and 2 women at our table are still a bit hungry at the end. Food presentation was mediocre compared to most restaurants I frequent downtown. The taste of the food was average or above average for most dishes, but nothing was spectacular, and there is nothing I would come back for. Two of us hated the popcorn dessert. It tasted like a savoury buttery greasy whipped cream that could perhaps go on top of a latte. Ambiance was contemporary, but I prefer the nicer fine dining restaurants at other places. Hands down one of the best experiences we've had in a while. We felt welcomed as soon as I walked in the door. When we sat down, our waitress asked if we were celebrating anything special. After telling her it was my birthday, she wished me happy birthday and wished me again before her shift ended. Other staff members wished me happy birthday as well. Elem has been on my to-eat list for a while and I finally tried it tonight. We opted for the let-the-chef-cook menu. Our waitress was attentive and friendly. We advised the server no lamb and cheese on our meal. Unfortunately, they were extremely busy and served the wrong dish a few times. Their lamb skewer and dessert stood out to me - the lamb melted in my mouth and the dessert was very tasty with a great array of texture. The atmosphere and setting is definitely more elevated with a keen attention to detail in their service. Price was a bit high since it came to $196 for 5 plates of food plus dessert. My husband and I came on our wedding anniversary, we were greeted promptly and sat punctually at our booking time. Server was very attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. I'm blown away by their creative cocktail menu, and started with a black sesame whisky sour, my hubs ordered their s'mores old fashion. Our second cocktails are white lotus and Negroni. Cocktails are very unique, delicious and well balanced. Especially the s'mores old fashion and white lotus definitely have the wow factors! As for food, since we are not picky eaters and not allergic to anything, these are what they have served us, and we looooved all of the dishes: Yellowfin tuna bhel Dungeness crab toast Grilled lamb skewers Short Rib Scarpinocc Whole Grilled Fish Olive cake with berry compote (bonus) Chicago Mix Popcorn cake Pacing is good, they change plates and cutlery after every dish. Simply divine, from start to finish. We were celebrating a birthday and reservations were made weeks in advance. We opted for the larger tasting menu for the 2 of us because why not. Or course it ended up being too much food but in the best way possible. We were full halfway through the steak but it was cooked to perfection. What I enjoyed most was how every dish had an influence from a different cuisine such as Thai, Indian, Italian with a modern take that's been brought forth by a chef's culinary experience. I also appreciated how only a few items on the menu had been there since day 1 of opening just under a year ago, where returning in the future would allow you to try new dishes to keep things fresh and exciting. I found it difficult to find anything lacking or unbalanced in a dish. The atmosphere was romantic and lively where all tables were full. Perfect for a date night or a smaller group celebration. This place is an upscale restaurant with amazing service and great ambiance. I give it a 3 star just because even though the food was good, it's overpriced for what it actually is. It's small portioned simple food with over the top embellished descriptions, and maybe ingredients you wouldn't think go together. It's a good deal especially if you're adventurous and not picky about what you eat. Overall, I enjoyed almost everything that was presented to me. I'm not going to lie though, I tried 2 of their cocktails and it left a little something to be desired. Their old fashion was a bit more palatable for me. I'm glad they changed my drink. And the Dungeness crab toast was a bit soggy for my liking. But the rest was great. If you like lamb, the skewers what be a great choice. Can't really go wrong with medium rare strip loin. Loved the dessert they gave us. The birthday freebie cake was a bit dry though. Loved the soupli. Had a wonderful evening at Elem.Their drink menu is focused on elements of air, fire, water and earth. It's very innovative and drinks are unique. Great ambience and perfect for a night out or date night. We tried the Jakarta, Melon, Tokyo drinks. They even gave us a sample of their Seoul drinks which had gochujang inside. My fave was the Melon. The food was decent. It's not in big portions so don't expect to be super full. The yellow fin tuna bhel, duck fried rice and January king cabbage were tasty. My fave was the duck fried rice as it had a spicy kick to it. They are pricey $20-$36 but I wouldn't say they are the most amazing dishes I've ever tried for that price point. Very modern & hip. We came in with our holiday sweaters and in casual clothing and felt a little out of place. They sat us around 9:15pm at one of the booths to just have drinks. Drinks were all very interesting and complex, but a little overpriced for what they were. I'd be interested to come back and actually get a meal here sometime. Server was very friendly and talkative. When we got our drinks we had a very long explanation of each one. EARTH * Mexican Coca Cola ($28) - 4 stars. Good, you could taste some coca cola. Family-style tasting menu which I absolutely loved. I'll get straight to the point. This changed my life. Wonderful ambiance. Bread crispy and buttered/salted on the outside, fluffy and warm on the inside. Truffle butter. Tuna bhel (basically tartare) with cilantro-mint chutney and pomegranate. Texture and flavor bomb. Venison tartare was also super refreshing and the truffle was nice. Chili oil burrata omg, I'm remaking this at home. Paired nicely with a slice of orange and placed in a gem lettuce leaf. LAMB SKEWERS. The waiter introduced it saying it'll melt in our mouths, but I personally say that too much that I have my doubts when other people say it. But my boy did not lie. And in that yogurt felt Meyhouse-esque. Glazed with dates Octopus was superb, the salsa description scared me but it was fantastic. With cuttlefish ink aioli was even better. Short rib scarpinocc pasta IT LOOKS SO CUTE like peas in a pod topped with real peas. 10/10 presentation, 10/10 in my mouth. So light and creamy and not too meaty. Sea bream: half Indian with green coconut cilantro chutney, half Mexican with red adobo pepper sauce. Tender fish and both sides were unique and flavorful Duck was great. Sauce was nothing crazy but it did have prunes which was cool The bavette was cooked to perfection. That crisp on the edges. Seasoned with some citrus aioli, amazing complement. Desserts were all great, particularly the popcorn thing. It tasted like the Parche dessert but I realize that only Kelly would understand what that means. We got the family style menu for $100 and the value is amazing for the amount of food you get. Pretty much get to try everything on the menu. All the pictures shown were part of the set menu. The food was all really good, favourites were strip loin, venison tartare, and grilled lamp skewers. The Chicago mix popcorn was probably the highlight though. One of the best desserts I've had in awhile. Favourite drinks were the Tokyo and White Rabbit. The waiters take the time to explain the background behind the menu, space and drinks. We dined here to celebrate a friend's birthday. The lamb skewers were hands down my favorite. They were extremely tender and flavorful. All the dishes have been elevated, and they'll leave you wanting more. Duck fried rice with Kimchi is elevated to the perfect blend of comfort and spice, lamb skewers mouth watering with a bit of crunch, and the venison tartar melts in your mouth are just to name a few. My daughter invited me to Elem for my birthday, omg where do I start, first of all the beautiful decor gives you the vibe of a classy New York restaurant. Every dish is amazingly delicious, when you see a cabbage dish on the menu, you wonder how tasty a cabbage dish could be? but when you take the first bite you see how the chef's magic hands created a heavenly dish.
