Came here for brunch this past weekend and the last two visits haven't been great. A couple years ago the meals were great but these days it's hit and miss. The last visit I had ribs hash which came out practically cold and this last visit I had fried a chicken Benedict. The chicken was delicious, however the potato side left a lot to be desired. One in our party had next to raw poached eggs with the white undone and another had the waffle so crunchy it disintegrated upon cutting. Even the kids who all had pancakes had one burnt pancake out of three on the plate. What I do like here is the space, there's a lot of room for larger groups, strollers and such, the ambiance is nice too. But the service is also minimal. It was hard to get a coffee refill and when I asked for a high chair on a previous visit I asked multiple times and ended up finding it myself. There place wasn't even busy. They need to pull up their socks and get breakfast/ brunch sorted as it's a nice spot in a quality Hotel lobby otherwise. Bit of a shame but we'll be giving this one a miss for a while. read more

The Lobby restaurant has a great ambience and location, friendly and attentive staff especially the gentleman behind the bar that is also your waiter and serves you with a smile even when he is really busy. Their food however does not match their excellent service. We've ordered chicken pesto that was quite dry and bland as well as cheeseburger that also lacked seasoning. Right off the bat we noticed it was very loud in here. We did ask our server to turn down the music which helped, but even so it was very difficult to have any kind of conversation. There was not a lot of room to walk between tables so if you have any kind of mobility issues be aware of that! Our server was delightful and did a good job of keeping our drinks topped off. The food was good. We had a variety of dishes present in our party and everyone was satisfied with their meal, but no one was blown away. Visited the restaurant twice-- once for dinner and once for brunch. Both times, the food was mediocre. The flavour profiles have potential, but every time, the food was just a little too bland. My favourite part of all the food I have gotten was the side of potatoes it came with-- granted it's hard to screw up potatoes. To be honest, the food definitely looks better than it tastes. I'd give it a 3.5 stars if there was an option to do so. Our waitress was super nice. She tried her best to be attentive and to do her job well, but she was probably a little newer. I appreciate the effort though! The restaurant is connected to the Pinnacle Hotel, located within the centre of all the fun + good places to eat! The exterior is of modern decoration and I love how you can go for a stroll along the ocean right after your meal. Verdict: it's nice if you live around the area because it's almost like a local spot where everyone who lives close by can casually stop by for decent brunch. Lettuce wraps lettuce was pink on the outside like you see when it's been in your fridge for too long. We removed the outer leaves and the inner leaves were wilting with no crunchiness. We asked for a fresh lettuce and they either brought out the same one with some leaves removed, or the second lettuce was equally woeful. The beef in the braised beef rigatoni was bland. The steak was chewy and the steak knife had a hard time getting through it. I had an upset stomach about two hours after this meal. I rarely write reviews but I feel obligated to write this one as this would have to be the worst meal in every aspect, and certainly the worst I have had for many years in the culinary city of Vancouver. I don't know if this was an off night or if this is a common issue with this restaurant. Came here for brunch on the weekend for their brunch deal on Groupon. The restaurant was fairly spacious and empty when we arrived and free parking for 2 hours is included in the groupon. We ordered the crab cake benny and the northshore breakfast, as well as a caesar and a mimosa. The drinks were great however the food was average. The benny came with nothing underneath the crab cakes which confused me since there's normally an english muffin or bread of some sort under them. There was also a strong jalapeno flavoring to the crab cake which overpowered the delicate flavour of the crab. The northshore breakfast is what you would expect and came with a selection of butter and spreads for the toast. However, the service was quite slow despite there being only 3 tables aside from us there. The portions are pretty big and we left with our bellies full. Though with the large selection of restaurants in the area, we're not sure if we'll be returning anytime soon. read more

I chose to go to the Lobby for NYE as we were spending the day in North Van. I ordered the strawberry lemonade, and salad. My husband got blueberry pancakes and coffee. We enjoyed everything, and I really liked his pancakes because they aren't overly huge, and dry. They were soft, fluffy and flavourful! My strawberry lemonade wasn't too sweet, which I preferred. It had a good balance of strawberry and lemonade so one wasn't overpowering the other. My salad was full of cheese, so yum! I really enjoyed our meal here, however, I docked off two stars because our server was unhappy to serve us and she was talking to the people at the table right behind us about vacations and travels while we were waiting for her to help us at our table. We even waited 15 minutes to pay for our bill, and we didn't want to interrupt their conversation, so we just got off our seats and headed to the hostess' desk. And that was when our server realized that we were done eating, and we've been waiting to pay. I hope that the Lobby shows excellence in customer service in the future. read more

Thanks to GroupOn, the boyfriend and I dined at the Lobby Lounge. Two brunches, two drinks and two hours of free parking at a reduced price and thus an excuse to try a new-to-us place? Yes please! As per instructions, I had to call ahead to reserve a spot for brunch and whomever I spoke to on the other end of the phone was helpful in her explanations (especially around parking) once I made the mandatory mention I was using the GroupOn. We arrived at the restaurant, parked and made the short walk into the lobby. The space itself was clean and bright with floor to ceiling windows on one side, and plastic partitions around all available seating. I thought the lounge was a little on the smaller side and there was a lot of pleasant conversation and talking. (It was by no means distracting or too loud, but if you wish to eat brunch and hear the background music, this is not the place for you.) After ordering a Caesar and Mimosa (brunch Happy Hour) the boyfriend picked the Rueben Hash while I eventually settled on the Northshore Breakfast. I cannot tell you much about the hash (menu says two poached eggs, montréal smoked meat, sauerkraut, potato lyonnaise, and hollandaise sauce) because the boyfriend gobbled it up, so it must have been delicious. Overall I was happy with my choice of poached eggs, back bacon, potato slices and rye bread (when given the choice I always go that). My only small complaint is that the rye bread looked to be one big slide cut into half when I had hoped for two. Yes, I like rye bread that much. From what I could gather, there were only two ladies running around taking orders and serving food at the restaurant. This resulted us in having to (understandably) wait a little longer at certain times, but they never forgot an order we had, or an ask (i.e. milk for coffee). Very much appreciated especially when I imagine how frazzled they must have been! Side note: I subsequently discovered the GroupOn did not cover taxes or tips, which given the food, experience and service, I thought was more than fair. I admit it was a bit of a drive to try the new restaurant, but between the GroupOn and our plans for the day, it was worth it. Me and my family went on our first trip to Canada. We were staying at the Pinnacle Hotel one night and we didn't really have anything else to eat, so we came down to the restaurant. When we were ordering, we found out they gave us an old menu where half the items weren't on the current menu anymore. A member of the family ordered a kids pasta which was 12 dollars. What came out was a portion so small, it probably couldn't fill a 5 year old (the menu being for 12 and under). He said the pasta was very plain and very basic. Don't get me wrong, the place itself was very clean and tidy, the waiters were very nice, though the place was far from quiet. The adult portions of the food were good, only the kids portions weren't. I would only recommend this place to people who don't have kids. And even if you don't, you should go somewhere else as there are many, many better restaurants around here. It's not Plan B, folks, this is a legit good place to have dinner, as evidenced by the number of people coming from outside the hotel to eat there. I had the crab cake app -- a bit small but tasty -- and then the sablefish which was really good, chock full o' shellfish and with a really tasty broth that I was dying to soak up with a good hunk of fresh bread. Found this place on Groupon for their 3 course dinner meal! Regularly $92 and I got it for $70! We got to pick from 3 appetizers, 3 entree dishes, and 2 desserts. For the appetizer I had the Beef Carpaccio and oh my gosh, it was easily the best thing I've had. The Wagyu beef, the arugula, the toasted bread, it all worked together sooo well. For both our entree's we got the filet mignon - mine was cooked perfectly medium and came with some vegetables and some really good mashed potatoes! And for dessert we obviously got one of each! The creme brûlée was lemon and light and the chocolate decadence was indeed decadent! We couldn't finish the whole cake slice (the fact that we each got a dessert drink probably didn't help), but it was addicting. The whole meal was well made, our waitress was amazing and made sure our wine glasses were never empty, and the area the restaurant is in is cute and definitely worth the drive from surrey! Went here yesterday because it was a friend's time to choose the brunch spot. Should've known by the lack of people in the restaurant at 1215pm that it wouldn't be a great experience. The hostess, Rachel, had no personality and didn't greet us as we waited to be seated. She clearly hates her job and it shows not only by her demeanour, but in her greasy unkept hair. I attended the Lobby yesterday for their happy hour. Hours were fantastic 2-6 pm with the best fish/prawn taco I've ever had, reasonably priced at $6 each. Service was good and ambiance was perfect. One of my favourite smooth jazz artists - Gabriel Mark Hasselbach, is performing & he's accompanied by LJ Mounteney on vocals. Sweet sultry music indeed. Now this being a hotel lounge - it's kinda loud with chatter & noise but I'm totally focused on the music & my dinner! The Cosmo was good but I've had better in the Caribbean on a cruise ship - surprisingly! My dinner plate however knocked it outta the ball park! Prawn & Scallops dish went down so well! These scallops were big & the meat so juicy! I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of my food! Pricey indeed but quality guaranteed! We were using $100 Skip the Dishes GC and placed an order for their 3 course dinner for 2, not knowing that it was an ASAP order. We realized we meant to request delivery for the next day. We made the change through Skip only to receive a notification on the morning of delivery that they had cancelled the order because it was scheduled for 6:30 am instead of 6:30pm delivery as requested and the items ordered were longer be available! After four phone calls to the Lobby, we were assured that we would receive our order at 6:30 pm and all was OK. Sooooo....finally at 6:45 after being reassured by the restaurant manager no to worry that they would put the order in "rush", find a driver and our delivery should arrive within 45 minutes - it NEVER showed up! We contacted the restaurant manager again at 8pm only to be told the order had been cancelled!!!! Wow.. what a night to remember. Food was surprisingly very VERY good. My husband and I was visiting the Lobby with a groupon for their 74 dollar 3 entree meal for 2. We both selected mussels for our appetizers, albeit spicy tomato sauce for mine and white wine for his, and ahi tuna for my entree and shrimp and scallops for his. I got the key lime pie for my dessert while my husband had the chocolate truffle. Service was impeccable and ambience was casual. We were quickly seated and our drinks were served quickly. My only complaint is that the wait for our appetizer and entree was a bit long but - Oh- let me tell you... the entree is well worth the wait. The appetizer wasnt amazing and a tad salty which got both my husband and I very worried for our entrees, but both our entrees blew our expectations out the park. It had me repeating, "whoever they have in that kitchen is VERY good" all the way through dessert. Even through dessert my husband and I was saying how we havent had something this good for a long time. Came here for the complimentary breakfast that comes with certain hotel packages. Food is alright. I had the North Shore Breakfast and the wife had Eggs Benny. Eggs Benny had very nicely poached eggs, but not a whole lot of lox. North Shore breakfast was fine, but a bit plain. Coffee was pretty burnt tasting. Overall the food is a touch oversalted. This review is during COVID-19 times. I was impressed by their social distancing partitions between tables. Not impressed with using coffee carafes to pour directly into customer cups where you can visually see the splash back if there still is liquid in the cup. You could probably pick up similar fare for cheaper at Denny's. Oh, one thing to note is that the complimentary breakfast is not fully complimentary. You will still get a bill that requires you to pay taxes and gratuity (for two people, $4). Is a $4 charge large? Not at all. But it does feel incredibly arbitrary and unnecessary if you're going to go the length of advertising that the breakfast is complimentary, just to stick them with a tiny bill at the end of the meal. read more

The convenience brought me here, as I was staying at the hotel, and we sat and enjoyed a large cheese board before heading out in to the night for sushi, and I think that's the best way I could think to enjoy the Lobby. Oh yes, they do have food for sure and you probably won't dislike anything. But I think it operates best as a small plates, pre-meal nosh spot, or post meal drink destination. A beautiful floral edge to fill in the meal gaps. You really can't beat the location near the Lonsdale Quay Market or the waterfront in general. You have the Shipyards there and from all the construction I saw, that area is going to be phenomenal and this will be a terrific spot inside, or out on the patio, to sit and rest from it all. They were cool with us hanging out there in the morning. Some had coffee, and then we left for the main meal of brunch up the road. Again, a nice fill-in-the-gaps. Great ambiance, and not hotel-y. The appetizer came fairly quickly (within 15 mins), and the quality and taste were decent. After we finished the appetizer, it took 40 mins for the main course. One lamb dish, one seafood risotto, and two pork chop entrees. Two of the pork chop dishes were undercooked and pink. The server took a long time to follow up with us. We asked to have it be cooked a little longer, but by the time it was finished we decided to just skip and go for dessert as it was already quite late. After reading the reviews, I decided to take my mom here for her birthday. I also got a groupon that included a 3 course menu, which was the same as their 3 course menu at the time. I was somewhat disappointment with the food and service. Several things went wrong that didn't give us a good experience. The service was quite slow. First the drinks. We waited for about 10 minutes for the waitress to take our order. It took about 15 minutes to get 3 our of 4 drinks. The one missing was the milk for my toddler. My toddler was getting impatient since she waited for a long time. The calamari looked like a platter of tiny stringy fries. They were so small that I could barely taste anything except the batter. For my toddler's meal, unless i read the menu wrong, I order chicken strips with fruit (instead of fries) for her. When it came, it was chicken strips with a big bowl of fries. I told the waitress that I ordered fruit instead of fries She said the fruit will come later. Also, the ice-cream with the kids meal never come. When we got the bill, we were charged extra for the bowl of fruit. Both my mom and I ordered filet mignon. She wanted it medium well, I wanted it medium. Both of our steaks came out medium rare. Because we waited for so long to get our dinner, we didn't bother asking them to make the steaks again, especially my toddler was already whining. This review is strictly for their weekend brunch. Normally I am very skeptical about hotel restaurants, but the crab cake bennies came highly recommended to me so I decided to give it a shot. You get two large crab cakes topped with beautiful broached eggs, a silky hollandaise, and skillet potatoes. Everything is seasoned perfectly! The crab cakes are crispy on the outside and generously filled with crab meat, not full of bread crumbs and chopped veggies like some restaurants. The eggs are always perfectly poached, and it's so satisfying to see that orange yolk ooze out. The hollandaise is one of my favourites as it's a bit more tangy (more lemon), which really helps to balance the richness of the dish. The potatoes are good, but the bennies are the star. I've been here numerous times, and I always say I'll try something else, but I always end up getting the crab cake bennies cause they're just that good! read more

Good size portion and this restaurant uses sliced potatoes instead of cubes potatoes which is a unique twist. I thought it was a filling meal that was nicely presented with nice flavour - some green onions and avocado was also included. Service could be improved - had to flag our server down several times to refill our water and to get ketchup. Food itself is 4 stars though. Let me ask you this, Yelpers: Would you consider a 3 course meal an 'entree'? Ok, how about 12 of them? I would think so, but I received no love from the server at The Lobby when I proudly presented my Yelp "Free 'Appetizer" check-in reward. She told me that she didn't think it would apply, but that she'd check with her manager. Whether she did or not I don't know because she avoided the subject the rest of the night. We were a table of 12 strong, in for the evening, each ordering a 3-course ($41) Christmas dinner and ample wine, beer and cocktails. Food was decent. Service was professional and friendly. Ambiance - ok, if a bit too open concept and noisy for conversation. Problem though - the management appear to be scammers. Visited here as part of a Groupon deal (https://goo.gl/XVQxPN), promoting a meal for 2 at a special rate of $69, with a stated "value" of $115. But on checking the Lobby web site for reservations, an identical three course meal is listed for $39 pp (http://goo.gl/aBVNck). I called Groupon, and was told by a manager that businesses provide the stated value of the deals. Note that the menu provided to Groupon (https://goo.gl/fmuvA6) is a virtually identical copy from the Lobby web site - except for the price at bottom, conveniently deleted. So if a restaurant has to scam customers to get them in the door, what else is wrong there? What other lies will they spin to make a buck? Service was not good at all. The waitress was not professional and a bit rude to us. The kitchen did not time the meals correctly making us having to ask the waitress to pack our lunches to go. While we see other tables coming in after us receiving their meals first! Management need to tell their staff to make the service a lot better. Food is ok, Spring rolls is average, Duck spring roll has more veggies than duck in it. My frittata was ok. Nothing really special overall. I would not come back to this place unfortunately. ps. we waited 15 mins for our appys to arrive and ANOTHER 25 mins for our meals to come! seriously.... read more
