The only thing I can say for criticism was it did take a while to get my food but I would rather wait for good hot food than quick and not good!! So a small critique at most!! I've been coming to element since they opened, been probably 10+ times and the food is always great besides the last time. We were seated outside in the sun for over 20 minutes without waters, when we finally got our waters they were never refilled I'm a server so I'm very patient with other servers but I had said "I don't want to ask for more water because if she takes my cup I might never get water again" it was NOT busy, 3-4 tables inside and 2 outside including us. The drinks were wrong and given to the wrong people and it took us almost THREE hours to get the check and it is pay to park per hour. I've heard a lot of talk about it going downhill and from my most recent experience, it's going downhill fast. Our server was nice but was clearly not paying attention to costumers needs. Heard a lot of good things about their food and the Buffalo chik'n sandwich so I decided to try it and I was not disappointed! It was DELICIOUS. The fries were also really good. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars and not 5 is because the beer was slightly warm. The couple next to me at the bar also ordered beer's and stated that theirs wasn't the right temperature either. Brought four carnivores with me to try vegan food for the first time. We all devoured the nachos! Our entrees were good as well but took some time for everyone to get over the textures of the various vegan meats. The bartenders struggled with a few of our drinks but when they got them right it was delicious. One of us went back about a week later and got the Smash burger and said it was delicious. The person that answered the phone was rude and condescending. They immediately answered and said, "yes we are open today". I said ok I was just getting ready to ask you that. This was a disaster from start to finish and has me shaking my head at the poor management and lackluster food and untidy environment. We made reservations but when we arrived they had moved everyone outside, in because of rain so our table wasn't available. They couldn't tell us when they'd have one but we could wait standing up in a tiny corner. There were three open tables though but the group that came in after us with ten people were given that after pushing them all together. At that point I had to ask why have reservations if you're not going to honor them, upon which was told in a condescending manner that they can't just ask people to leave, which wasn't what I was requesting, just some validation for my concerns. I was then asked if we wanted to sit together, which was ludicrous because who goes out to eat with no intention of eating together. I think at that point she was just being snarky especially considering I'm with my family. Maybe she wanted us to leave. I would have but I made reservations there because two of us are vegetarian and knew we could find suitable dishes to accommodate us. They did sit us at the bar while we waited just to at least give us a break from standing. The restaurant itself looked really messy and dirty with wet towels laying around everywhere because of the rain seeping into the restaurant. Once we were seated, the hostess gave us free chocolate chip cookies for having to wait so long which was appreciated. We ordered a few appetizers-the nachos and totchos. Neither were very good unfortunately and we didn't eat very much. While we were eating, the hostess told us the appetizers would be free as another peace offering so at least it was free. The food didn't improve with the main dishes. We got the Cobb salad, Bahn mi and Nashville chix sandwich, upon which the chix sandwich was the best but average. The Bahn mi was so soggy it fell apart trying to eat it. I didn't get any silverware so I had to walk to the bussing station and ask an employee since they were scarce and impossible to flag down. Waiting for the check was interminably long. Wait staff was pleasant enough though. Normally this would be a one star review but because they did make some peace offerings which is appreciated, I bumped it to two. I probably should have taken all the mishaps as a sign to go somewhere else and I'm sure I'll be getting a smart ass comment from management like other reviews have had issues. Booked reservation at 7:15pm last night. Arrived, place was busy, but not slammed. Was told- "pick a seat anywhere" after waiting for a while at the hostess stand --with no one acknowledging us. What a great spot. I'm writing this review as I'm sitting at the bar. I'm not a vegan and this place sure is serving up food as if it isn't. It's amazing. The tastes and mouthfeel are in point to meat based food. I had the bbq pork belly special sandwich and it was the best pork belly I've ever had. Not best vegan pork belly...the best pork belly. It fooled me and I don't like being made a fool of, lol. The service is amazing. They do it all with a smile. The owner/cook, comes out and plays with the service staff and bartenders and talks to the customers. He spent a few seconds with me and made me feel super comfortable and confident in ordering my meal (seeing that I'm not a vegan). I will most definitely be back the next time I roll I to Raleigh. I'm just a visitor coming in from California, so locals you al better this place going while I'm away. We waited for about ten minutes at our table and no one came to the table to speak though staff was walking around talking and basically ignoring us and ignoring the potential money we were going to spend. I am not a vegetarian and wanted to start eating healthier. I decided to try this place, and I am so glad I did. The food was hot and fresh. It did not taste the way I was expecting vegetarian food to be. We were seated immediately, and the waitresses were top-notch. The only thing that could have been better was the alcohol mix drink. The food wasn't the best, especially for the prices, but I understand everyone has had to raise prices due to the economy and many more factors. I'm giving this place a 2 star because although the restaurant was nice looking, the food has given us terrible stomach pains. I'm a long time vegan who's traveled and tried many restaurants, but I've never had that bad of a reaction to food. Especially just tofu scramble, potatoes, a biscuit, and mock bacon. I would have stopped by to talk to them about it, however we had already gotten back on the road as soon as we left, and paid cash. The server/"bartender" brought waters over. The menu looked good so we decided we would stay and eat as well. She continued to make drinks for people as they came in, but never made mine. We thought maybe they were preorders but realized they weren't. After over 10 minutes, I got on line like the other customers so I could ask about my drink. We had to go downtown to do some paperwork and started wondering what to have for lunch. I pulled up my Happy Cow app and found Element was just a block away. I haven't been there since before Covid, so I was eager to see how things have changed. The food menu has gotten much more varied while the beer options seemed to have gotten less. We had a Smashburger and BBQ both with fries. The food was delicious, the fries being dangerously addictive. I think they encourage reservations but I didn't make one (we were asked though) and we were seated soon after opening for dinner. The online reviews really made me think this place was something special, and maybe it is, but it depends on what you order. My family and I checked out this (then new) restaurant during a rough patch in the pandemic and sat outside. The outdoor patio space was lovely. We were all extremely excited to try everything. However, my impression is that this restaurant is not family friendly, because of the terrible service we received. You can't bring kids to a restaurant with impossibly long wait times, and the waits for every step of the process (being seated - despite having reservations, receiving menus, ordering food, receiving food, etc.) were excessively long. The waiter seemed like he was in an altered state. Several times, I had to go hunt down other staff to ask for help (water refills, ketchup, etc.). This became apparent to a manager. The food was ok (mixed reviews), so we might return someday to try some different dishes; perhaps our server has been replaced by now, and perhaps indoor seating would yield better service? read more

Let me start this by thanking Dontell, his service was amazing. I witnessed him be attentive and accommodating while experiencing an evening rush. He displayed such poise and focus, tending to a full bar. My husband and I ordered the Carolina Mule, as a ginger lover it was tasty. I ordered the Nashville Chick'n, loaded totchos, and the starter wings with jalapeño bbq. Don't judge I'm only in town for the weekend lol. The Nashville chick'n was good not as spicy as I thought but still really good, the fries were fresh. The totchos were good, but the cheeze sauce was a little too thick for my liking. The flavor was good though. The wings were good too, even my carnivorous hubs liked them. The atmosphere was welcoming and chill. I liked that there was a photo opp wall that reads "I licked it so it's mine." Too bad my hubs wouldn't let me lick his face in a picture lol...
