Wow, wow, wow! What an AMAZING find in Medford! I came here while driving back to the Bay Area from Portland. To be honest, I had very low expectations of this place, but was proved wrong with my first bite of food. I ordered the roasted beet salad, a flat bread, and seafood dish. Each and every dish was flavorful, unique, and well prepared. I enjoyed my meal with a wine flight, and finished with a small slice of a rich chocolate cake. Again, wow! In addition to the delicious food, this restaurant had impeccable service, and a nice feel to it. The wait staff is very attentive and knowledgeable of the menu and wine list. Elements was surprisingly my favorite restaurant during my entire road trip to Portland and back! Who knew that I'd find this gem while driving through a small town! read more

Unexpectedly great find in Medford, OR Driving to CA from Seattle, we decided to stop for the night in Medford. It was our first time visiting, and we weren't expecting many dining options, but the downtown area had a great many. We were in the mood for tapas, and stopped here due to the high ratings. It did not disappoint, and was one of the best meals of our 5 day trip. Service was friendly and attentive, and the food was fresh and delicious. We particularly enjoyed the shrimp diablo and a mushroom dish, but everything we had was tasty. We had one vegetarian with us, and we were all extremely satisfied with the variety of small plate dishes we ordered. The restaurant was very comfortable and nicely decorated as well. Next time we head to CA, we look forward to stopping here for dinner. read more

This was our second visit to Medford. We happily stumbled upon this jewel of a restaurant previously and just had to go back. It was as good as we remembered. As vegetarians we were pleased to find a variety of options: salads, hot and cold tapas, and even a vegetarian paella. The house salad with mustard sherry vinaigrette was good, the tortilla española and baked manchego we're very good, and the mushrooms Catalan were excellent. As the usual designated driver, one of us rarely drinks at dinner, but here you can get 2-ounce glasses of wine--and the bartender was especially helpful in suggesting interesting choices from a list featuring wines from local vineyards. The three-flight tasting offers a great way to sample some very good Oregon wines. The atmosphere is convivial and the staff is personable and friendly. Highly recommended! read more

Really impressed with the food. I did not expect the food to be as good as it was. Every bite was amazing. The size of the small plates were actually perfect and we ordered more. The bacon wrapped dates were definitely delicious and I was surprised by how everything we had was made to perfection. The staff seemed polite some were very knowledgable about the items they have. Big fan. Came in here after driving up from San Francisco, so in need of a frosty beverage and some good food. We had the Andalucian Pork (special), the beet salad, and a beef dish I can't remember, and then the mini churros for dessert. All were delicious! Went here for tapas with a girlfriend. To say so the least the tapas are super tiny, flavorful but small. I advise that you don't come here hungry. Elements is a trendy tapas bar that is very relaxing. We had the Meat and Cheese Platter and the Seville Flatbread. Both dishes were shared with two people. Exceptionally good! The Meat and Cheese Platter was a good mixture of olives, a variety of cured meats, grapes and a few other treats. I very much loved the spicy pecan brittle. The Seville Flatbread was yummy with mushrooms, Humboldt Fog Chevre, and roasted garlic. The prices were very reasonable and the staff was exceptionally nice. The seating was comfortable. It was 107 degrees in Medford as I began searching for a place with 3 critical factors: A/C, drinks, and food, preferably a place that had happy hour. I settled on Elements and headed in. I initially sat at the bar and ordered a "Fireside" - Vodka, Pama Pomegranate Liqueur, Triplesec, and Champagne. While this isn't my typical drink order, seeing as it was bordering on pink and served in a martini glass, it tasted fantastic! Plus it was only $5 during HH - can't beat that! I also ordered 2 of the HH food items - neither of which I can remember the names of. The first was jalapeno poppers and they were huge and quite spicy - very good in my opinion. The second was an almost spring roll-esque pork and cream cheese type thing with a sweet chili dipping sauce. Also quite good. The bar was fairly quiet, as it was Wednesday evening, but there was a group of 3 Skywest employees on a stopover that were having dinner, so I joined them for my second Fireside. Overall Elements is a pretty cosmopolitan establishment with an exotic menu considering that they are in Medford, OR. Not bad at all. read more

Delightfully surprised with this restaurant in boring Medford; next time we drive from San Francisco to Portland, we'll be back. Tortilla espanola: actually an omelet. Awesome. Trio of albondigas lamb meatballs were great! With three different kinds of marinades/glazes; I'm a big fan of variety. Pork empanadas: yummy! Prepare to run a few miles after eating this fattening treat. Patates: just ok, especially compared to everything else which was phenomenal. Chocolate tart: wonderful. Dense, creamy, rich, with a chocolate crust. Cocktails: BF ordered Fireside, Dirty Effen Martini, and Cucumber Basil Gimlet. Got very drunk and happy. I'm so glad to see Medford is picking up a few new interesting places to eat - finally! My husband and I ordered green beens with almonds and the pork rib special along with a cocktail and glass of wine. The green beans were super tasty - I will order them a million times! - The pork ribs weren't fully hot and were covered with a crazy super super super hot, overly sweet and over coriandered sauce. They were disappointing but the server gave them to us gratis so I had to give 4 stars instead of 3. Yay! Great wine choices and all the liquors are listed on a menu - I love that. Wow, wow, wow! This is a really great tapas place. I wish it was closer to home! Everything was great, from the arugala salad with candied pecans, through the green beans with wild mushrooms, bread, Spanish torta and fantastic ribs. They have a very nice wine and beer list. My wife enjoyed a Belgian lambic while I went for a glass of very nice local Temoranillo. The atmosphere was very pleasant, as was the service. Our expectations were, regretfully, not met on our first visit to the Elements Tapas Bar & Lounge. The decor, ambiance and service are all good. The food not so much, unfortunately. I'll lead with the one item that did please: The Bacon Wrapped Dates. Medjool dates stuffed with Spanish Chorizo, wrapped in bacon and roasted. The succession of tastes and textures is complex and almost surprising: Crisp savory bacon, a sweet mushy date in the middle finishing with a spicy heart. The Roasted Beet Salad, however, is described as "Herb Roasted Red Beets, Grapefruit Supremes, Cucumber, Arugula, Candied Pecans, and Humboldt Fog Chevre, with Orange Honey Vinaigrette" -- but the beets tasted and presented more like they were just boiled. No herb flavours came through, the brightness of all the expected citrus notes were absent and even the arugula couldn't bother to pepper the tongue -- a complete spoiler which even a strip mall diner couldn't do worse. Three of the cheeses on the Cheese Board tasted exactly the same. When I ordered the "Sardinas de la Casa" I'll admit that I did not know "Giant Matiz Gallego Sardines" are just whole canned sardines with their skins on. My bad. I do not like canned sardines with their skins on, who really does? I was expecting something fresh or frozen, pan fried with crisp skin. Instead what this is, three bacon wrapped whole canned sardines on a somewhat bland tapenade. Fortunately their house made Alderwood smoked bacon wrap was done well. We left hungry and disappointed: We would have ordered more, but were afraid of getting a few more uninteresting dishes -- so we cut our losses and left early. read more

The staff were fantastic (Benny is great)! I should preface this by saying that I am incredibly critical when it comes to food. The menu was very promising and the food was decent with the exception of some execution issues. I ordered the duck, and while the meat itself was cooked well, the fat was not properly rendered. The sauce was close to amazing but needs a bit of acidity and/or spice to balance out the sweetness. It was a good meal with potential for greatness. read more

Don't let the facade fool you. This is a real gem - of the kind I did not expect to find in Medford. Down to earth and the kids also liked it. Try the grapes w pistachio and blue cheese. The platter w cheese and meat has alot of small well tasting additions. Their flatbreads were also good. I had a few good spicy drinks while my wife had a red wine flight. Desserts! The food was very good and very creative. The service was a little spotty but I happened to be there at a time that they were participating in a street fair, handing out wine tastings and hors d'oeuvres right in front of the restaurant. I got there a little early intentionally to avoid any possible wait. That worked well but I did not have the benefit of seeing plates on tables. Their tapas are really quite large. I'm a big guy and I eat more than I should but one cold plate, one hot veggie plate and one seafood plate was too much even for me. The cold plate was whole, fresh, seedless grapes completely but thinly coated in a relatively mild, local blue cheese and then rolled in finely chopped nuts. Fabulous! The hot veggie plate was Brussels sprouts sautéed with their house smoked bacon and served with a mustard sauce. The sprouts maintained a little more of their bitterness than I wold prefer but that, I think, is a matter of personal taste. I have some of each of those left for lunch tomorrow. The seafood dish was really extraordinary. It consists of fresh sardines wrapped in the house bacon and grilled. Those are served over a green olive tapenade and dressed with a lemon aioli. I was intrigued by the fresh sardines and wanted to try it despite some reservations. I thought the taste of the fish might be overshadowed by the olives. It was not. I thought it might be too heavy. After all, it consists of all rich ingredients: sardines, bacon, olives and mayonnaise. Somehow the chef has achieved well balanced and strangely refreshing dish despite having fat wrapped in fat and served over and under fat. (As fats go the are mostly healthy fats.) Excellent Place. No TVs great food and drinks. I was in Medford for a business trip and decided to try this place out. It was one of very few places open on Sunday night after 9PM. The menu is great and the food that I had was delicious. The drinks that bartender Benny prepared were also exquisite and and the atmosphere is calm and relaxed. I asked the waitress what was best and ended up with: *ham wrapped shrimp. This was very good but the calorie count has to be very high. It tasted like candy. Shrimp quality was good but not excellent *Mancheta (or something like this). Cheese that is baked with a flaky crust. This was very good but again on the unhealthy side. I could see why so many other reviewers give it 5 stars but being from near LA and going to a new 4.5 star yelp reviewed restaurant several times per week makes me very picky. read more

SO DELICIOUS!!! I came here for dinner with friends on a weeknight. We missed their happy hour but I don't think we missed out on terribly amazing deals haha. Anyway, we were initially seated at a table with high chairs because all the booths were occupied. Once a booth opened, the waitress was sweet enough to move us there, no problem! They have what seems like a full bar but we enjoyed a local bottle of wine. I highly, highly recommend getting the Mushrooms Catalan! The mushrooms are cooked until tender in a savory sauce and there were plenty of bread to go with the shrooms! Usually, I feel like there's an imbalance between bread and the dish, but not here! I wish I could have licked all the sauce out of the bowl...it was that amazing! We also ordered the Pinchos Marunos (pork skewers) but they ended up forgetting to put in the order...that's okay though because our next dish, the paella was HUGE. I couldn't believe that the three of us finished this massive pan of Catalunian Paella. It was very flavorful and full of starchy goodness. They don't skimp on the seafood either! Every bite had plenty of seafood so I definitely felt like it was worth the $38. I only wish that we didn't come the day after Valentine's because they were out of some dishes. Real food prepared well is not easy to find in Medford. This is one of a few restaurants that should be on every local foodies list. No bland commercial food here. The happy hour is a great deal. It is more of a restaurant then a lounge really. We thought of it as a bar for a long time and didn't go, then went there for dinner with friends from work and found a great place to have dinner. In spite of being here for several years, it has really not been discovered. Sauteed mushroom with flat bread and a glass of wine is one of my favorites. It's relaxing and has comfortable seating, brick building, nice art. The only thing I would change is to improve on their back ground music. (Elements - get with Rhapsody or Pandora and get some groovy tunes :) read more

I have to say the service was extremely slow! It took them 15 minutes to just get us our menus. The environment is really loud and echoes in the small room. But what I did love about this place was the and drink variety and the food. The food was very delicious, i got the ox tail dish. I got my dish 20 minutes before my date received his. My food was cold by the time we got to eat together. They did offer our meals for free for poor service. So I will go back and try them again with hopes of better service. Our first visit. We had a great experience. Started with Patatas Bravas with a very nice sauce. My wife had Spanish Ribs and loved them, I had Papas de Toro. My first taste ever of Ox-Tail. It was cooked a long time and quite tasty. We added bread and Spanish Wine and Beer. We arrived early, before the crowds, and choose our own seats. The service was great and we were helped with our questions. Some have posted about the small plates but with our appetizer we were just right at the end of the meal, too bad, no room for desert. I would suggest Porters Restaurant to anyone looking for good seafood and an all around nice experience. Why am I reviewing Porters here you ask? Because I went to Elements in anticipation of a great experience as it has been highly recommended. However, we were at Elements for a birthday dinner and decided that waiting for 20 minutes for a simple drink order and a dirty water glass I couldn't point out since the young lady didn't have time to swing by our table, was the beginning of an experience we didn't want, so we walked to Porters. Discovered this place via Yelp and decided to try based on customer ratings. After about 7 different plates, 5 different drinks and 3 different desserts I can say I wasn't disappointed. It was a bit packed when we showed up during happy hour and our party of 3 was too small for reservations, but the staff was very accommodating and sat us as fast as possible in a nice booth. Their menu has a great variety of small and larger plates with a few salads and other fun offerings. We were pleased with every dish served (except the pizza flatbread should have been baked longer). My favorite was the Diablo Shrimp (a be it could be too spicy for some). The flank steak and albondigas meatballs were nice too. Saving some room for dessert we tried the blueberry port ice cream, fresh hot churros and flan. The flan was perfect with smooth texture and a silky caramel sauce (pictured). On top were a few candied pecans mixed with gram cracker crumbs that added a nice crunch texture. So if your looking for a cozy night out on the town in an Art Deco corner lounge with amazing libations, food and dessert I'd recommend this place. read more

Great meal. Rather large plates, but delicious. We were there for Happy Hour, and had 4 plates from the happy hour menu; first the patatas bravas perfectly crispy on the outside with plenty of smoked paprika and a drizzled garlic aoli. Then the Banderillas, 3 lovely steak shish kebab with a nice chimicurri sauce. 3rd the manchego bacon cheese dip was served hot and was outstanding (my wife's favorite). Finally the Salamanca flat bread (just tomato sauce and cheese, great for kids, but not our favorite) We also ordered the Artichokes from the regular menu, which were superb. The sauce was great with a hint of lemon. My wife had a wonderful drink from the specials menu, and I had peligrino. Total was $52, and this is a great addition to fine places to eat in Medford. read more

The food here is very good and well made - if you're in the mood for Tapas. I think that qualification is important because I've always found it a little hard to feel satisfied here when I'm looking for a full meal. However, if you want a place to chill with some friends over drinks and food that is better than a snack but not-quite-a-meal, this is your place. You'd be hard pressed to find a more chic place in Medford, especially if you're looking on a Sunday. The bacon wrapped dates are awesome. In town for Country Crossings music festival. We usually are getting out of there until 10:30pm, and then we're looking for some food (ideally that isn't Shari's!) afterwards. Thursday night, we see on Yelp that Elements is open until midnight. One of us has never even been to a Tapas place. We've starving. Pretty much wanting to try every plate. We get there at 11:15pm, restaurant is empty. Just the bartender. He says they stopped serving food a little while ago because it's dead. Offers us cocktails. We pass, we're disappointed, we really wanted to try the food. But he was very friendly and seemed to genuinely care. We figure Friday night we'll give it another shot, 'cause again, we really wanted to try the food. This time WE CALLED FROM THE CONCERT at 10:30 and specifically asked if we arrived at 11:15 whether we could still get food. The lady on the phone had a bit of an attitude, as if this was a stupid question. "Yeeeahhh, we serve food until 11:30." Okay, fine. We arrive at EXACTLY 11:15pm Friday night. This time it's not dead in there, but slow, there are maybe 3 other tables in there (although in all fairness they do appear to be wrapping up.) We go to the bar and she's like, "Yeah... noo, kitchen is shut down, we shut it down at 11:00, it's dead tonight. You need to come before 11pm for food." I told her we even CALLED AHEAD to make sure there would be food, and from her reaction I could tell she was the one who was on the phone, who said they were serving until 11:30. But she wouldn't own up to it. Figures. She said she could "maybe make us something small I guess" in a tone that said she definitely did not want to. We said, "Hey no biggie we actually wanted a larger meal" and took off. Both on the phone and in-person, the female bartender has a needlessly unfriendly, uncaring personality and guaranteed that we will not be back. It's not "cute" to shutdown your kitchen at random times, and especially not to lie to people on the phone and have them drive out to your establishment for food, only to tell them the kitchen is closed when you arrive.
