I really want to love Elephant East. The vibes are amazing, the food is delicious, but the service leaves a lot to be desired. I've been here twice in the last month and the service wasn't great either time. Last night, the service was incredibly slow - took almost 20 minutes to get 2 drinks. When those drinks arrived, one of them was spilled on my companion due to how the restaurant is setup with minimal space between the tables. Dinner was great, although we ordered Thai green beans and received fried rice, so another issue there. When we received the check, it had dessert listed that we didn't order. I've been twice now with similar experiences. Not sure I'll be making an effort to come back, even though the food is good.

The vibe was really nice, but the food was okay, needed more seasoning and flavor ! Drinks were okay. Otherwise the service was wonderful

We came during happy hour and the hostess was such a character, super friendly and great. She gave us complementary champagne and sat us at our table. The decor was beautiful and made for an intimate, romantic dinner. We basically got everything on the happy hour menu and I have to say it was absolutely delicious! If I'm ever back in Dallas, I'm coming here first!

Made reservations for Sunday before a concert downtown. Parking was easy to find with valet check. Bonus points for having a 7 day a week happy hour. All the options were great and Mickey the bartender was great. She shared suggestions and provided all the hacks to enjoy our evening. Will visit again when I'm in the DFW area

We reserved a New Year's Eve prix fixe experience for two. The ambiance was elegant with carved wood molding and ceiling fixtures. Every bite was beautifully plated and our entrees carried some good flavor components. The downside came with our chocolate lava cake which was served cold. Instead of a warm decadent gooey-ness, we got a crumbly dry slab of cake that stuck to the roof of the mouth. Sadly another miss was when one of our water glasses had a lipstick stains on the rim. When we asked for a clean glass, the replacement also had noticeable blemishes. Overall, the venue is gorgeous but the service and execution of their menu could improve.

Parking.... There is valet parking... on Harwood... otherwise you park in this mammoth parking garage and hope to find your car. Keep circling the restaurant until you find it.... The service is exceptional; with fun yet attentive staff throughout the establishment. Excellent cocktails. Good atmosphere if you're into the Harwood district experience. Bang bang shrimp is really good; esp if you like mayonnaise (hey, I'm not judging!). The other items.... Not so much.... The ahi tuna crispy rice was missing .... Tuna... and the crispy rice wasn't crispy - they were bricks that had been ?fried? To the point I thought I might crack a tooth. Drunken noodles were not drunken noodles.... Bulgogi beef was interesting (in a not great way). Instead of long thin cuts of beef, it was hard crunchy nuggets of (hopefully) beef. It's okay to have items that are "different" but don't label them as traditional items and somehow hope the customer finds it satisfying. And nope, it's not "fusion" if you just use lower-grade ingredients. Nothing fusion-y about it. While I'm writing this it feels like a 2 star review, but hey it was a nice environment with great waitstaff. Just really mediocre food. I'm settling on 3 stars - I did eat the leftover noodles the next day and they still aren't drunken noodles but they were edible.

In town for work but also celebrating birthday. They were beyond hospitable! From hostess to server they were knowledgeable, not pushy, and attentive. The food was incredible, not too heavy and full of flavor. The recommendations were spot on. The restaurant itself was beautiful, though parking was a little confusing and hard to get back into the garage since we ate late. I didn't go while I was there but I was told the bathrooms were an experience in themselves. Highly recommend for any occasion!

We came here on a Sunday night for dinner and we had a reservation as we were coming with a larger group, so we were seated pretty quickly. The lights are dimmed and intimate and the decor was very aesthetic and it was also pretty lively. The waiter was very patient and friendly. One thing I liked about this menu was how accommodating it was, although there were limited vegetarian options on the menu, we were able to swap out the meat on the menu for another meat or have it made vegetarian. My thoughts on what we ordered - - Drunken Noodles - It was not very spicy, which was bit disappointing, but not bad as a dish. - As appetizers, we ordered the Blistered Shishito Peppers and Fresh Spring Rolls and both were delicious and a great combination with the sauces they came with. My favorite dishes were Korean Fried Chicken (subbed out Chicken for Tofu), Bang Bang Shrimp and Crispy Chicken Bao Bun (subbed out Chicken for Tofu)! I highly recommend these as the flavors from the sauces made them stand out the most from the other items we had ordered. Overall, the food was delicious and the service was great and will be back in future to try other items on the menu!

Elephant East is a cute restaurant downtown with a different vibe. The interior is a bit different very small intimate tables. That's the good part. The service was suspect as we had a waiter who normally does not work for this restaurant but for a sister restaurant due to having shortage of staff That being said, he was unfamiliar with the menu and with the surroundings I guess. We ordered two simple dishes, one wings and two a vermicelli salad with carpaccio. Neither one of more remarkable I've had much better wings at KFC and the salad was tasteless. I wish there was something good. I could say about either one of the dishes, but they really was not We enjoyed being in the scene of very eclectic people. We then left to go to a sister property for music.

Food was delicious!! I would definitely recommend this place for a date night or dinner with the girls. The drinks were amazing and food was even better. The ambiance was very dark but elegant. Will be coming back if I'm in the area

    Inside vibe

This place was amazing!! Not only was the food incredible but the ambience is so neat. They greet you with a glass of champagne which I thought was a nice touch and the waiter was very attentive as well. My only note might have to be that the spicy margarita was so spicy it numbed my mouth for a little while. However, my lychee martini was amazing. Oh and my mom's white wine was room temp. Other than that, no notes.

Excellent food with a great atmosphere! We started off with their take on a margarita which was fantastic and a great price at happy hour. We then got the shrimp bang bang shrimp which is a must get. We then lastly got the drunken noodles and a fried rice with beef. Everything was well made, service was friendly, and we enjoyed the atmosphere. I would definitely come back here!

Was excited to try this spot as I love Asian food and the menu offered various selections. We were seated immediately upon entering and our waiter was amazing! She was detailed about the menu and drink options which made for easy ordering. For drinks, I ordered the spring snow and it's a lovely made drink. For the table we ordered the charred edamame and fresh springs rolls. We enjoyed these appetizers and it was a great start to the meal. **I also ordered a miso soup for myself and it came out very cold. No warm or hot temperature to it at all. I assumed it was due to the weather being hot that it was served that way but the waitress brought it to my attention that it was supposed to have been hot. She took it back and we continued on.** For entrees, we both ordered the drunken noodles and thoroughly enjoyed this dish! Nothing was left behind! We ended the night with a couple of selections from their desert menu and enjoyed the cheesecake spring the best! Overall, I enjoyed this spot outside of the cold miso soup (as I was looking forward to it). I would return and hopefully it'll be a 5 star experience!

We first thought the culprit was the paper drink coasters, but then the staff removed the door mat near us later on, so maybe someone puked on it and the smell lingered, even after it was cleaned up. Clear Mizu ($16): This has Sakura vermouth and bitters, so we ordered it. It tasted like straight up gin and was not good. It was actually one of the rare times my husband could not finish his drink. Kyoto Sunset ($15): This one wasn't bad and tasted like honeydew. The ingredients include honeydew Calpico, so that makes sense. Johnny Walker Black ($16): This was our friend's drink, which I think was just coke and Johnny Walker. Nothing special about the taste either. Given the smell and so-so/terrible cocktails, we will not be coming back or taking our friends here.

During my second visit, I tried the Bitter Lemon Soda, which was also very good--simple, refreshing, and without any overpowering flavors. I actually enjoyed The Bowen House so much that I went twice during my weekend trip to Dallas. It has an almost speakeasy-like atmosphere, with low lighting and a cozy, historic feel. It's also in a very walkable area, which made it easy to visit on foot. There is some parking available, although I would say it's somewhat limited. I don't think it would be the best spot for a very large group, but it would be perfect for a few friends getting together. I also appreciated that you can order a drink while waiting for a table or bar seating, which made the wait feel much more enjoyable. Overall, The Bowen House was one of my favorite places I visited while in Dallas. Between the atmosphere, welcoming service, and well-crafted drinks, it's definitely a place I would return to the next time I'm in town.

At least one leg has been kicked out, one is suffering. The Mansion Bar used to have a great recipe for success - proven by how busy and regular the customers were and loyal (or was), and the top tier talent that was routine for 10+ years. Me and my friends have a relationship with the long time staff as customers as well as the excellent music talent. The cause? Not precisely sure but I think it's new ownership, at the very least a new Food & Bev manager. I also know the staff is very upset about these changes and the relationships with the repeat music talent is now a mess. I wouldn't be surprise if the staff start leaving. I'm hoping whomever is making these decisions can revert back to what was working. Dallas has a lot of great venues that will fill this void.

(I rarely post Yelp reviews so that's how bad it was) I ordered the steak frites medium-well (thinking it would probably come out well-done, as most non-steakhouses tend to do). After a long wait for our food (the restaurant didn't look that busy, but maybe a lot of to-go orders?) I received the pictured steak: I'm pretty sure I can still hear it mooing. How anyone could look at this and think this is medium-well is beyond me. I tried taking a bite, but it was so raw it was inedible to eat - I would've been chewing for ages. I brought this up to my waiter, who said he would take it back and speak to the kitchen. My group needed to leave for another event (didn't anticipate waiting nearly an hour for our food) so we simultaneously asked for our checks. The kicker? My waiter did not follow up with me on how raw the steak was and did not comp my meal/provide any kind of remedy. I wasn't looking for a free meal, but the lack of follow-through to remedy the situation was the icing on the cake (or insert some kind of raw steak pun). My cocktail (which all arrived AFTER our meals were delivered) was pretty good, thus the 2 stars. But I question why/how my steak was so raw despite me waiting 45-55 minutes for it. Overall, only come here for drinks - so long as you're okay with waiting forever & a day for them.
