Best business establishment. The owner Jason is attentive and professional. His employees are also great. I recently moved to SD but wanted to get new lenses here and nowhere else. I sent my new prescription electronically and hand my glasses ready for pick up the next day! They had my previous purchases on file which made it easy for me to communicate what I wanted. I have been to OTHER establishments that constantly lost my information. That is never the case here. I also like that alterations are done in house. This review is long overdue, but I wanted to wait until I can sit down and give a thorough review of how amazing my experience at Eleven Optical was. I usually also only post reviews for places that provide impeccable service and a memorable experience -- Eleven is that place ladies & gents. First off, Jason and Alecia are WONDERFUL. They are such down to earth people and immediately made me feel comfortable when I came in. They have so many cute styles for frames! I literally wanted to buy the whole store because I love wearing glasses and would wear all the styles they had. Because they had so many great frames to choose from, it was not an easy decision for me to pick one frame. Alecia and Jason gave me such honest and valuable feedback. I can tell they were being genuine and weren't just trying to get the sales like most optometries do. I couldn't decide what frames to get and needed to wait for my insurance to get approved anyways (yes, they accept insurance, which is also another plus), so they told me they would put the two frames that I was debating between on hold so I can think about it and come back when I was set to purchase one. When I returned, they even had more frames to choose from! They also took the time to help me decide with the newer options too. Alecia and Jason were so friendly and patient throughout this whole process. It felt like an honest friend was giving me feedback. They are also so knowledgeable about each frame and how well it fits to your face shape. My frames and new lenses were ready same day within 20 mins! They're such good quality and reasonably priced (way affordable than other places I've been to). BONUS: they are also anti-glare and scratch free. BEYOND HAPPY with my new glasses! So I literally just walked out of their shop. This was hands down the nicest experience I have ever had with any kind of glasses related purchase. I was in and out with glasses on hand in nearly an hour!! I have teribble social anxiety but their customer care was amazing!! So friendly and so helpful. I didnt geth their names coz of my social anxiety but they were all amazing. From helping me pick out the frames and lenses, to fitting and paying the experience was great. They even helped me fill out my insurance claim ( my insurance requires i do the claim). They literally did it all in no time with a smile on their face and genuine care. My 8 year old was in need of glasses as her vision declined for distance. She only has a couple of months left of school and needed them stat, since her vision was 20/70 and 20/50. I ordered her a pair from another office but the lab was backlogged for 6 weeks. I just happened to stop at the papa John's one night and stumbled upon this lovely store. Upon entering it was aesthetically nice to look at and the office staff was very kind and helpful. I brought my daughter back a couple of days later and she found the perfect pair that fit her personality, and they were made in a matter of 10 minutes!!! Ordering food takes longer than this! OMG JASON IS AMAZING! On point customer satisfaction and professionalism! Jason greets his customers on a first name basis which to me is amazing because it builds a customer relationship. Jason and his staff helped me pick out the shape, color, size to fit my face and even helped me order the frame when the one I wanted was sold out. I immediately went to my eye doctor for a new prescription so I can get new glasses from Jason the next day. Two weeks later I had to go back to the eye doctor a second time to lower my prescription and Jason changed my lens with no problems with no extra charge and got it done in one day! This was my first visit here for a routine eye exam. I had broken my glasses a couple days ago and it's been over a year since my last eye exam cuz of the pandemilovato, so I figured why not? I had spent half a day calling different optometry places and this place by far, had the cheapest price for a glasses eye exam at just $45. The staff here are very friendly and they have a can-do attitude. The girl who greeted me at the entrance handed me a clipboard and told me to fill out whatever I could fill out. Once I was finished, she started doing the preliminary tests with me: the one where that machine shoots air out into your eyes and the other is a machine that shows you one image and switches between blurry and clear. Afterwards, I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Sue in a dimly lit room that had the phoroptor in it. Honestly felt like I've known him for a decade already because he's very personable and sarcastic but in a good way lol. It might have taken others aback but not me since I'm a pretty talkative person. He even poked fun at the fact that I use Target brand eye drops and recommended that I use a better brand. We lost of track of time gabbing and getting to know each other but the rest of the eye exam went smoothly with the phoroptor. Dr. Sue wrote down my new prescription, I paid the $45 at the front, and was on my way. They have a pretty good selection of fashionable frames for both eyeglasses and sunglasses but unfortunately they are way out of my budget. I believe the starting price for a pair of glasses were $160 and oof that's hefty if you're me and you don't have vision insurance. But that's okay because Eye Buy Direct has my back there! Overall, a very pleasant experience and I will definitely be recommending this place for anyone who lives around the area :) read more

I'm extremely pleased and happy with my entire experience at Eleven Optical. Everything from the beginning to the end was seamless and not only am I going to commit to this eye doctor going forward, I'm going to recommend them to everyone I know! If you're looking for new glasses or contacts, or if you just need a routine eye checkup, do yourself a favor and look no further because YOU'VE FOUND YOUR PLACE! I was initially referred to Eleven through a friend who had gone in for a checkup because her eyes felt strained, but she didn't end up getting glasses because the eye doctor here, Dr. Frank Sue, told her his honest opinion and gave her the option of getting low strength glasses or not getting glasses at all. That told me from the beginning that this practice was honest and not just trying to sell glasses to someone who doesn't necessarily need them. My friend's eyes were nearly perfect but she wanted to get them checked since she works in an office where she spends hours on the computer. She decided not to get them but she was still very happy with her experience here, which is why I knew that I could trust them from the beginning. Jason, the manager and owner, was extremely helpful from the initial phone call. Unfortunately, Eleven Optical was not an in-network practice with my vision insurance that I have through my employer, but fortunately, Jason assured me that they'd take care of me and give me discounts and great pricing on the exams, frames, and lenses. My insurance had a few allowances for out-of-network practices and Jason promised me that they'd do their best so that I could keep my out of pocket expenses to the least amount possible. He spent about 15 minutes on the phone explaining their process and answering all the questions I had. I scheduled my appointment for the following week, but Jason encouraged me to visit their store before my appointment so that I could even see if there were frames that I liked so they could keep them on hold for me until my eye exam. I thought this was a great idea because picking out new frames can take forever for an indecisive person like me, so I paid a visit to the store beforehand to try on all different kinds of frames and take pictures so that I could contemplate and be happy with my final decision. Jason gave me a lot of recommendations for the styles I was looking for. William also gave his input on which glasses he thought fit me well. I was mainly looking for glasses with nose pads that would fit my Korean face and not slip down my nose, and they had plenty of glasses that felt secure and stuck to my face, unlike the European glasses that I was used to. I even wandered into the sunglasses section and Jason told me that if I was interested in prescription sunglasses, they'd give me a great deal if I purchased regular frames. In the 20+ years (yes I wore glasses as a kid lol) that I've been wearing glasses, I've never even considered prescription sunglasses because I always thought they'd be way too expensive. I was sold when Jason told me how affordable a pair of sunglasses would be. I picked out several different frames and put them on hold. I couldn't wait to return to see the eye doctor for the exam so I could get my new glasses. On my actual appointment day, I had my eye exam with Dr. Frank Sue and he did multiple tests to determine my eyesight. He was patient when I couldn't decide which lens option was more clear, and he also was thorough in explaining his evaluation. I was glad to hear that my eyesight had not changed very much and my lens power was going to be the same. I made my final decision on my frames and sunglasses. Because my vision is fairly terrible (lol), making my lenses was going to take a day, which is so much better than having to wait two weeks like most places that send frames to a lab. Eleven Optical makes all of their lenses on-site and this was something that was unheard of for me. Can you ask for any more?!?! I picked up my glasses and sunglasses the following day and I'm thrilled. They've been secure on my face and I don't need to push my glasses up every minute of my day anymore. If you can't tell, I am extremely pleased with my visit here and I wish I could give them 10 stars. This place is fantastic. Both me and my mom came in and found new glasses. My mom had such an easy experience and had her glasses ready in a day. They were very accommodating and patient with us and waited for us to get a new prescription after trying out one prescription and it not being right. They helped us get our prescriptions right by using trial frames. When my mom brought in the new prescription from our optician they replaced the lenses they just put in free of charge. My glasses on the other hand took a while because in another visit to the store I brought in my own frame and wanted to just get lenses put into them. I got a solid quote and was happy but then I brought my new prescription and they were honest with me and said the oversized frames I brought wouldn't be ideal for prism prescriptions as it wouldn't cover the thickness of the lenses. Yay for honesty and truly caring about the customer. I had no idea about prism but they took the time to explain and educate me which was such an outstanding example of customer service. They then helped me in another visit to find frames that would best cover the thickness. My glasses still took only a week which is a speedy turnaround as compared to other places. Prism makes your lenses super thick but the fact that they were able to help me find a frame that would cover most of the thickness, offer 1.76 hi index lenses for a good price, and make my lenses as thin as possible is amazing and I am so appreciative. Amazing amazing amazing!! I haven't worn glasses in around 7~10 years, and have been wearing contacts daily so I didnt know what to expect when I came here. The optometrist, Dr. Frank Sue was incredibly nice and friendly. Jason was easy to contact especially through Yelp, and there was another gentleman I never got the name of but I think his name was Kevin? Kevin was so patient and helped me pick frames based on what I liked. I took quite a while in the store with my sister because we both needed exams, new glasses, and new contacts, and we never felt rushed. They have honest pricing and do not push you to try to buy something more expensive which is hard to find, especially in these times. The store was pretty poppin the whole time I was there, and I can see why my friends were raving about Eleven. If you're hesitant, give them a try, they don't pressure you and you can really just visit with a peace of mind :) P.S. they have a LOT of stylish frames if you're looking for something up to date or trendy. I usually get everything from my optometrist's office, but I wanted to explore my options more this year in terms of pricing and styles. On entrance, I was immediately greeted and offered assistance. I ended up purchasing a pair that day AND ordering contacts later, which overall was significantly cheaper than at my optometrist office (even with my insurance ;_;). I walked in here on a whim because the decor was so nice and shopping for glasses is always fun. I wasn't looking to get new glasses, but after talking to Brian and learning about the process I started looking more intently... I found a pair I liked but didn't have time to do the whole purchase, and just went back home to San Diego regrettably. I send them an email asking if I could still purchase them and get them shipped to my home in SD. Jason (store owner, I believe) responded quickly and gave me all the options I needed to move forward with my purchase. Both Jason and Brian were a great resource for shopping here and made buying glasses just as easy as buying online. I was able to pay over the phone and get the glasses shipped to me within the week! Very satisfied with the customer service and product. If you're looking for photochromatic lenses, do yourself a favor and spend a bit extra for the Transitions brand lenses. I was told by both Jason and Brian that it was the better option and I didn't listen... My glasses are great regardless, very lightweight and they tint as needed. However, they definitely take awhile to turn back to clear and now have a slight tint even when clear. read more

*This review is based solely on their customer service. I called today before noon and had the please of speaking to Brian. I told him that my glasses were barely holding on after my dog got ahold of them and asked him if there was any availability for an eye exam today since my prescription expired in February. They were fully booked today and soonest available appointment was on Saturday, but I told him that I couldn't make it since I was going to be out of town for the weekend. He advised me to come in so he could take a look at my glasses to see if he could help them hang on until I get back from my trip. I came in and told Brian that I had just visited Costco yesterday asking if they'd be able to fix it and the Costco optical employee said that if they tried, it would just snap in half. Brian took my glasses to the back and guess what... He fixed them. I was so stoked when he came out and had me try them on because I really loved my frames. The Costco employee's work ethic is nothing compared to Brian's. Brian went above and beyond (in my opinion) and basically saved my life. I'm so grateful! read more

The store front, WOW! They have such a huge variety of glasses it's almost overwhelming to try them all on. They have different glasses for a variety of different head shapes, and I was glad that I was able to get an examination and glasses the same day. I'm a long time customer of Costco's (my all time favorite store) Optical department. I normally get my examination done there, and I normally get glasses there. However, Costco doesn't accept my insurance when it comes to examinations, so that's out of the pocket money. I have an insurance that covers non-network and I was a little bummed that Costco doesn't cover that. So naturally I was on the market for a new glasses when I met up with a friend (after I haven't seen him for months) with a spanking new glasses. If I had to describe his glasses in one word it would be: Swag. Not that "I look like a jerk/douche" type swag, but a more sophisticated elegance that those glasses brings out naturally in him. So I inquired about where he got his glasses, and a few weeks later I called in to book an appointment for 3 days later. The guy who answered my phone was name William, and he helped me set up an appointment for a Saturday. It was perfect. I was going to meet up with my friend around the area anyways, so I made the long trek to Artesia. I got there, they were ready for me. Paperwork in hand, information filled out, I quickly browsed the store in a quest to find the perfect pair of glasses that fit my head size (I have a fairly large/high- cheekbones and head). I was called to do the primarily test, where there's a barn in the middle and you're suppose to focus on the barn. Then I did that dreaded machine where it started to puff air into my eyes. Moments later I got called in to do the eye examination. The doctor was very nice, and an amusing guy. We small chatted, talked about where I went to college, talked about traveling, and all sorts of other conversation. You can tell he's a friendly person whose engaging yet reserved, so if you feel like you want to keep it strictly professional he seems like the person that would respect that. When I was done with my examination my friends (3 friends) who I came with ended up picking 2 glasses each for me to choose. They were having a competition of whether who could pick the best pair of glasses (that I would like). Not surprisingly my best friend from New York knew my ascetics and chose the two I liked the most. I ended up choosing that one, and as I was going to ask them about payment and my insurance, they told me I can get it done and leave with it by that night. Holy snaps! Normally for Costco (probably due to the volume) I have to wait at least a 7-10 days. Which is kind of annoying especially since the last time I got glasses-I broke my old pair and didn't have a spare. Long story short, they filled out my reimbursement insurance for me, William and Jason was great! I left with an amazing pair of glasses and I got compliments from all my coworkers today! Best glasses shopping experiences I've ever had. They've got a fantastic selection of frames, especially for an Asian face - I've never found so many frames that I liked! I'm a super slow shopper - I like to compare lots of options, and then I take forever to decide which one I want. I went in one Saturday, narrowed it down to three frames that I liked, and they were nice enough to put a hold on them for a week to give me time to decide. Went back a week later, and Rhea not only helped me decide, she went around the store picking out other frames for me to try on, like a personal fashion consultant. Turns out that she has a much better eye than I do - she brought me a bunch of frames that I liked even better than the ones I had put on hold. And then she was really patient while I went back and forth among the different choices, until I finally settled on one. Their prices are really good, too, and they include anti-scratch, anti-UV, anti-glare coating. And I think they can make most glasses either same day or next day. My lenses are ultra high index refraction, so they cost a little more and took an extra day, but the whole thing (frames and lenses) cost less than half what my optometrist would have charged me for the lenses alone. I'll definitely come back here the next time I want to get glasses - and maybe I'll check beforehand to see when Rhea is in to help me! read more

THIS PLACE IS AWESOME!!! I have always had a lackluster expectation when it comes to optometrists. 32 years of prescriptions leaves you numb with the same ol same ol. I was referred by my friend- I was about to go to the big box optometrist, but she highly recommended I check them out. They quoted me a cheap price and I assumed that was a base. I went in not knowing if post lasik, I should go with contacts and or glasses. Dr Frank was like an old friend; funny and personable. He was honest and gave me the best advise- he isn't there for an upsell- I feel he is there to build a long lasting relationship through honesty and integrity. His team helped me choose my frames and consulted on the best recommendation for lenses- they too weren't there for the up sell either. In the end, I walked in while they were very busy- got my exam, chose a frame and walked out WITH NEW GLASSES...in ONE HOUR!!! Un FREAKIN heard of! I also paid 1/4 of what the big box places were quoting me and actually paid UNDER what they initially quoted me. Dr Frank, Jason, Brian, and the ladies have wowed me!!!
