I made an appointment for my parter and I to have dinner for his birthday. Upon entry we were greeted with smiles and asked if we'd prefer dinning indoors or outdoors. We chose outdoors and was seated near the fire which was nice being that the sun was going down and growing cooler. This is going to be our new go-to place! Nothing but good things to say about the restaurant, staff and ambiance of this place. Not only was this great, authentic Greek food but we had a hard time picking what to have because everything looked so good! For appetizers, we had the saganaki which was incredible! They fire it up right next to you. We also enjoyed some tzaziki sauce and pita before our wonderful entrees. I had the Musakka and my bf had the sea bass, which came with couscous and roasted vegetables. We both LOVED our mains. For dessert we had the custard filled pastries (I can't get the spelling of the dish lol), SO good!! Our server, Spencer, was also so friendly and checked in with us often. When you first walk into Elia, you feel like you're not in downtown Pleasanton. The décor and ambiance of the restaurant make you believe that you might be in a larger city or even Greece itself! From the moment we walked in the door, we were treated extremely well. It was a late night and while things were busy, the staff didn't miss a beat. They've got an excellent wine and beer selection as well as a full bar! All of the dishes we tried (baked feta, spanakopita, Greek salad, the chicken skewers, roasted eggplant, and the sautéed prawns) were nothing short of incredible. Super fresh ingredients, beautiful presentation, and the freshest feta this side of the Aegean. BONUS: Don't forget to try the pear dessert! This is a true gem. Beautiful surroundings on Main Street, sat on the patio that felt like being on vacation. The service was stellar - the waitress Gianna was friendly, attentive, and excellent at recommendations. I had the grilled octopus and the three dips. I went out with a friend to celebrate my birthday dinner at Elia in Pleasanton over the weekend. While getting caught in the moment, I forgot to capture the two appetizers I tried aside from the entree. So I will address the appetizers first. I tried the Dolmathes. This is something I completely new to me and I did not know what to expect. They ended up turning out to be pretty good actually though. Kind of hard to describe. But flavor profile reminded me that of jarred green olives. So if you are a fan of that type of flavor. This is right up your alley! The other appetizer was the Melitzanosalata. I am a big fan of eggplant. At least the ways that I've tried it before. And while this was a new flavor profile incorporating eggplant. I became a big fan! Paired really well with the pita served to compliment it. Now lastly, and definitely the main attraction. I decided to try out the Bucatini Astakos! A lobster pasta. I did not know what to expect but when I was served this. The picture definitely doesn't do it justice! It looks wonderful. Even the table next to me became interested in ordering the dish. It was some of the best pastas with lobster I've tasted thus far. Definitely would enjoy this again whenever I stop in the future. The waiters were great and polite. The ambience of this restaurant is top notch. The owner has paid a lot of attention to the detail. The fireplace, the coat hangers, blue blankets in each chairs etc. are all fabulous. The complementary bread with olive tapenade is also great. But the portions are extremely small compared to price. Even Monterey restaurants are cheaper!! Im genuinely shocked by the $$ you spend there and you are still famished unless you buy a few appetizers and desserts. Just for an eg. We tried their special appetizer today (March 17, 2023), three tiny ping pong ball sized croquettes with tiny salmon n shrimps/ all for $21 !! Wow .. just wow. This place gets 4 stars for its really cute ambiance and Greek island vibes! When I originally walked up, the reservations were backed up and the inside sounded really loud. I was a little hesitant if I should stay for my reservation but the GM I believe his name is Rehat (I hope I got that right) brought all those waiting a complimentary drink and once we were seated I ended up having a really good time! They played really great music and the service staff was so polite and would stop by and ask how we are enjoying ourselves throughout our dinner. What a great place this is! Dropped in with my family after golf 8:30pm Thursday and discovered a taste of Santorini, just down the street from our house. The manager, Rafet was very accommodating and said they just opened 2 days before. Welcome to Pleasanton!! We had a few appetizers and a couple entrees along with a few mixed cocktails. Trust me, everything was very tasty and high quality. Service, atmosphere, food, cocktails, location is perfect. It's in the location where Stacy's used to be and it's the best Mediterranean restaurant I've ever been to. Their fresh bread to their menu, cocktails and bar will have me coming back. Located in quaint downtown Pleasanton, this Greek restaurant stands out from the rows of restaurants. When you enter this fine establishment you are instantly transformed into a Mediterranean paradise. The owner has left no stone unturned. The details of the decor are top notch; both inside and on their patio. The menu is authentic Greek food and there are nice wine/alcohol selections. I think they rotate their menu from time to time, but there will always be a lot of seafood choices including octopus! Not many places would dare, but that is a Greek delicacy and this restaurant is confident enough to serve it! Their service is excellent! They are very attentive it almost feels like you have your own private waiter/waitress. They will offer suggestions to help satisfy your palate and help pair your wine selection. The prices are on par with what a downtown Pleasanton restaurant would be. It is a little more upscale and probably more suited for couples than family, but we did see a few tables with children. I have been going to Elia since they first opened and the experience was always excellent, but yesterday it exceeded my expectations! I hosted a birthday party for 26 people and every single person had an amazing time! We were seated under their beautiful decorated, covered patio, in one long table that accommodated everyone (basically a private, outdoor room). We pre-ordered some appetizers that came out right away and they tasted amazing! Then everyone ordered a main dish (no-preset menu required) -- their fish and lamb chops are to die for, and we had the most delicious cheese cake for dessert!
