Had to try the Kimmari (deep fried seaweed wrapped with noodles inside). So Ono!! Came with 10'pieces - enough to share and large enough to eat as a quick meal by yourself. We found a total hidden gem in Waipahu that was open on Christmas evening, and it definitely didn't disappoint! Yujin K-BBQ is a cute little takeout spot that is brightly decorated, extremely clean, and has a very welcoming environment. That's always a great sign that even better things are coming. It was so good that we've already visited twice (once on Christmas and again on New Year's Eve), and everything was cooked to perfection. My other half said this was the best spicy pork he has ever had. It's incredibly flavorful and a must-try. I ordered Kalbi on our second visit to satisfy a craving. It was super yummy with just the perfect amount of char. We also absolutely loved the meat jun and fish jun, those will definitely be our go-to orders from now on! The sides change daily, so it's a fun surprise to see what you get. Everything we tried appealed to all our taste buds, not one complain here. You can tell the staff really takes the time to put some love into their cooking. Since everything comes out super fresh, you do have to wait a little bit for your food, but they provide comfortable seats to wait on, and trust me, it is 100% worth the wait. Kalbi was tender and had good flavor, Meat Jun, although on the thin side, was also VERY tasty. They don't give the option of choice of sides, rather they give whatever they make for the day, which changes daily. I received a combination of 6 different sides, ama they all tasted fresh and homemade. What was new to me was a potato hash and corn salad, it was ONO! So I should have went a lil further into the reviews because I realize now there are new owners and the pictures that are shown are old and so are most of the reviews. This was just ok, no real complaints. Serving size is on the small side and I think for the price you're safer going to Yummy's or Peppa's. My combination plate was 2 piece kalbi and 4 slices meat Jun on a bed of rice with Kim chee, Mac/corn salad, long rice and hot dog chowfun. Unfortunately it missed the mark for me but was ready quickly and served hot. Kalbi was a bit tough and Meat Jun was just ok. Restaurant is take out only and lots of parking. The BBQ meats especially the Kalbi are great and sooo tasty . We tried the Kalbi BBQ chicken combo and the Spicy Pork. Both were delicious. The sides were very good, with every plate you get some chop chae, seasoned fishcake, corn Mac salad, and Kimchi. They sure know how to make Kimchi, it ranks up there as one the best. Passed by this place a few time and seen the great reviews. I was a little hesitant about ordering, but I figured we'd try this place out. To my surprise, yes... they do not do any dine in and it's take out only. It's in a busy area in a strip mall so I was surprised to see this restaurant is takeout only. My husband went in to get our order and came back pretty quick. They had our order done in 15 minutes or less. The plating is beautiful, butttt I was seriously shocked to see only 4 skinny pieces of meat Jun! I was sooo disappointed. Everything is put into the plate nicely but if you are looking for a place that offers more food for your buck, this is not the place to go to. Well it's our first time so now we know. With everything going on and my family of 5 that I have to feed... I don't know if we will be back anytime soon! :( read more

There's shared free parking outside and great air conditioning on the inside. Plus, it's clean and looks more spacious because the tables for dine-in are gone. Hidden gem in Waipahu! It will definitely be my go to spot whenever I visit home. Their portions are good for what you pay for. The quality of the food was fresh and so ono. The service was amazing. The cashier was super nice and answered a lot of our questions. The place definitely gives hole in the wall type of vibes. There's only 2 tables available to sit at. My brother and I were thankful one of the tables were available because we were so hungry. We shared a single plate with the side of mandoo and we were soo full and content. I loved everything about meat jun from texture, not oily, egg mixture held on well, and tasted yummy! Grated potatoes seemed intriguing and super delish! Kim chee and pickled radish tasted fresh and executed the right amount of heat. Pickled cabbage was on point. Chop chae tasted plain so I soaked it in the remaining liquid of kim chee to add more spice. Back again after 8 months. I was a little surprised to find out they done have the tables out anymore and it's a take-out restaurant. So we adjusted. We still stayed and ordered a BbQ chicken and Spicy Pork combo and a tofu soup. The food was great. My wife kept dipping her rice into the soup, constantly. This never happened before! The soup was big. Full of thinly sliced pork, huge pieces of tofu, and lots of kimchi. Packed full of flavor. The owner was so nice. She was friendly to everyone. Even overheard her trying to teach a customer how to speak Korean. I still recommend the food and service. Food was good, but the lady didn't want us to eat there. I wasn't understanding her at first but while ordering the food she mentioned that if we dine in that we have to eat fast. And she doesn't have enough tables. Which she does have 2 tables. She also said we couldn't connect tables or move chairs around. Very very strange customer service. MASISSEOYO! Which translates to " it's Delicious!" We cleared our plates & enjoyed every bite. The Kalbi + Meat Jun was very tasty & paired so nicely with the homemade Banchan. I love that this Kalbi had more meat than fat like other places I've been to. The owner gave us the variety of Banchan she had in today since my husband & I came together. Each plate comes with four sides. She was very sweet & eager for us to try the Banchan as I'm sure everything they make is a labor of love! My husband ordered the YukgaeJang if you never had it or want to try it he explained it to be the Korean Birria. Spicy, tasty & the meat was super tender! The veggies and glass noodles were cooked nicely together. The owner said if we like the soup then next time we should try the Kalbitang which comes Mild or Spicy. I did take out but they have tables available for you to dine in. Parking is plentiful -- this shopping plaza gets busy with cars going in and out. Google Maps & Maps (Apple) showed up two different places/locations. If you're familiar with Savers and Max's in Waipahu it's in that shopping plaza but neighboring the Laundromat side of that Plaza. ample parking outside the little strip mall in waipahu. ordered take out by phone for a family dinner. the entering the restaurant was greeted by a very friendly woman. the place was well lit and very clean. our order was nicely packed and ready to go upon arrival. we ordered 2 yujin specials which consisted of kalbi, bbq chicken, mandoo, and bulgogi. rice and ban chan. 1 meat jun plate with rice and ban chan. and a side order of zuchinni jun. this fed 4 of us and still had alot of left overs. the kalbi was flavorful with just the right amount of char. the meat jun was good. zuchinni jun was good too. the ban chan was delicious! based on this experience, i would return for more in the future. chee! read more

Korean takeout that's open late? Count me in! Searching "open now" on a Wednesday night and stumbled across this Hot & New spot in Waipahu. From 8-9:30 pm they have a happy hour where everything is 10% off-- score! Everything is made-to-order so the food takes a bit longer to come out, but not a crazy wait time at all. If you're in a rush, I suggest calling ahead to place your order so it's ready when you get there. While we were waiting we got to chat with the owner Amy. She's so sweet and talked to us about all the renovations they did turning this spot from a dine-in restaurant to takeout only. I love how bright and clean everything was and that K-Pop videos were playing the whole time-- really setting the vibe. You don't get to choose your banchan here like other Korean takeout spots in Hawai'i but that allows them to be more creative with the different side dishes they serve each day. We ordered two plates, a meat jun and a fish jun + kalbi combo. While the meat jun was really good, the meat was the perfect thickness and not too oily-- it was surprisingly not the best dish. The fish jun and the kalbi really blew me away! The fish was so moist and battered and fried up perfectly. But I gotta say, the kalbi was my absolute favorite. I'm not coming here again without ordering the kalbi-- so flavorful and cooked to perfection. We've been to Yujin twice now, and it's quickly becoming one of our go-to spots for Korean food in Waipahu. We called in an order for takeout and everything was ready in just 20 minutes! We ordered the meat jun plate, honey garlic fried chicken plate, bibimbap, and a side of mandoo. The honey garlic chicken was crispy and flavorful, even after the drive home--perfectly balanced between sweet and savory. The meat jun was tender and delicious, and the bibimbap was fresh with a good mix of toppings and rice. The real standout for me is their banchan--always rotating and made with care. This time we got japchae, bean sprouts, homemade kimchi, hobak jeon (zucchini pancake), and kimchi pancake. Their kimchi is house-made and has that authentic tang and spice. Tucked in the strip mall right across Kuni's in Waipahu. Right next to the Chinese restaurant on the corner is a gem of a find. This little Korean restaurant whose food for the most part is pleasing to the palette. We ordered the meat juhn and kalbi combo $20. It came with 4 different banchan. Let's start with the meat juhn which was one of the best I've had and holds up to the 3 top local restaurants that I normally frequent. The juhn was moist, tender, and tasty. The cut was thin and not that thick. The egg covering was perfect and cooked well. (7 pieces) Delicious! Kalbi- was nicely flavored, it wasn't too tough and af the same time not fork tender. Most places that serve kalbi is like this. (2 pieces) Rice- i don't normally rate the rice, but this rice was perfect. Not too dry and not too wet. Radish kimchi- was alright, it wasn't marinated enough (not a fan) Kimchi-lacked depth of flavor (I love kimchi, but this was disappointing) Bean sprouts- okay Ong choi- was yummy Overall the main dishes were so delicious! My only suggestion would be for thd establishment to give 10 pieces of meat juhn. As the meat juhn was thin. Normally, I can split a plate with my other half, but with this plate we fell a little short. Maybe, next time I'll order a side of meat juhn and see what I get with that. This is a new Korean restaurant that recently opened up in Waipahu. The food was excellent. The service was friendly and welcoming. The place looks new. It is very clean. It has only a few tables as most purchase for take out but we loved eating in. The chairs were very comfortable and dining was comfortable. We were given a free small drink to go with our meal in celebration of its recent opening. When you order you meal it comes with 4 small portions of delicious kimchi, cucumber kimchi, bean sprouts and cabbage. I loved their combo spicy pork and bbq chicken. I lived in Korea for a year and this reminded me like I was back in Kunsan. Hats off to Yujin K-BBQ. We will be back! All four of us loved the food. I prefer a large piece but this was good. Portion seemed smaller thank I'd like but the price was fair. The BBQ Chicken was good and moist. More often than most, BBQ Chicken at other Korean restaurants tends to be dry/overcooked. Couldn't pick the side salads so I had long rice, thin friend tofu, sprouts, and some sort of potato salad. Service was good. Restaurant was clean. The food was fresh so you could say good quality but the flavor was mediocre. The spicy pork wasn't spicy (but it was all meat and no fatty pieces), the kalbi tasted more like teriyaki (but the rib had lots of meat), the texture of the egg around the meat jun was hard (but the meat was tender), the rice was mushy, the kimchi cucumber didn't have much taste (wish they had regular kimchi), and the mandu tasted like the frozen grocery store kind I can make ar home. The portions were the least I've seen at any other Korean restaurant.
