I'm a bit of a nomad, so I have seen quite a few dentists in my life time. Of the few dozen I have encountered in my life, I must say that Dr. Vihnanek is the best that I have ever been seen by. The entire staff at Elite Dental is very friendly. They have been very patient in working with my ever changing schedule and frequent rescheduling of appointments. Dr. V takes a lot of time to sit and talk with her patients, answering questions listening and providing a lot of information. She works quickly, and as another Yelper said, is very aware/sensitive to potential pain problems. The experiences I have had at this office have been the best of any dental offices I have ever dealt with. I would refer anyone and all to Dr. Vihnanek and the team at Elite Dental. read more

Let me start by saying that I'm not always the best patient. I have a demanding schedule and have been late 2/2 times. Well, for my first visit I was actually on time, but I was supposed to be early to fill out paperwork. I called, a little frantic, and the receptionist spent 15 minutes on the phone with me filling out as much of the paperwork as she could, I was very impressed with the kindness. The office is a little outdated, but the staff's skillset more than makes up for it. I knew I needed a new dentist, but it took a toothache to make me finally pick one. I'm so glad I picked this office! On my first visit EVERYONE was so welcoming. I really liked the technology they used to x-ray my teeth; it came up on a screen that I could see, and they told me what was going on with my teeth. Being informed always is helpful! They were able to make the time to help take care of my tooth that was causing me pain. I never felt rushed, and all my questions were answered. They also really were great at helping me understand my insurance coverage. It's a great team of people! I'm happy to know my teeth are in good care! read more

Dr. V is great! I've been going to Elite for over a couple years and I can't really think of anything bad to say about them. The only thing I can think of is that they don't have a lot of the fancy things other dental offices might offer (like TVs and things like that). That may have caused me to rate them with 4 stars except that they NEVER make you wait (at least never in the dozen times I've been there) so I wouldn't have taken advantage of all that stuff anyway...and not having those things is probably why they're able to keep pricing reasonable (fine by me). Instead of bells and whistles you'll get great customer service (very friendly), no waits, and A+ dental care (which is most important really)...and reasonable pricing. I tried 3 dental practices in 3 different neighborhoods (near north, lincoln park, and lakeview) before finding Elite so I know what other options are out there. Street parking has never been a problem for me and it's a 5 minute walk from the red line. I can't think of anything else you might be looking for in a dentist so I'll stop there. I really enjoyed my experience with Elite Dental Limited. I found everyone with whom I came into contact polite, professional, and very competent and patient. This was my first visit back to the dentist in a long time, so I had major jitters. My appointment was made on a Monday at 5pm. The fact that they have such late appointments adds major points to this office. Also, I liked that I could print out all the new patient paperwork off their website. Though I did have a bit of a wait to be seated in an exam room, the service they provided absolutely outweighed that negative. As soon as I was seated in the chair and had explained which tooth I was having problems with, I was x-rayed and examined by the dental assistant. About 5 minutes later, Dr. Vihnanek came in and asked me some relevant questions, examined the x-ray and tooth, explained my tooth situtation and the procedures that needed to be done. She then made sure that my insurance would cover all the procedures and gave me the price I would pay that day. Finally, she set to work on my tooth, that same day to my amazement. Dr. Vihnanek is very patient, meticulous, and sensitive to her patient's pain tolerance. Though I was petrified in that chair, I could easily tell that she cared about what she was doing. And, despite that the office closed at 6pm and I was still in her chair at 6:15pm, she didn't rush the procedure or become impatient with my questions. An added bonus to my experience, is that the next day, I received a follow-up phone call in regards to how I was feeling. For someone who is horribly afraid of the dentist, the staff at Elite Dental Limited did an amazing job at putting me somewhat at ease. I went to this office for it's location convenience simply because I needed a routine check up and cleaning. The dental hygienist gasped and looked horrified at my gum measurements and told me my teeth were going to fall out. The Dentist told me I needed an invasive deep cleaning procedure to prevent this... And that now is a good time to get it because my insurance will cover 80% (eye roll...$$$). I have great teeth and I knew something was wrong with the consultation. I got a 2nd opinion and learned that I do not need a deep cleaning. It took me FOUR (4) days to get Elite Dental to send me my x-rays. Everyday I called and was told they will be sent via email (and then hung up on me) but they were never sent. Perhaps they sent my medical records to someone else- who knows. Choosing a dentist's office based on location was clearly not the right choice for me and I recommend everyone to do their research and go the extra mile (literally) to find the right dentist. This office attempted to scare me into paying for something I did not need and I am considering filing a report with the state board. read more

Do not schedule appointments with this office. I had a dental appointment a few weeks ago and they wanted to see me again. I had made an appointment for this Friday. I learned early in the week that I would not be able to make this appointment, so as a courtesy and to avoid any cancellation fees, I called the office on Tuesday and spoke to Rosie who offered to reschedule me. I was looking for a Monday or Tuesday appt. to reschedule and she had informed me that they are booked, but asked if she could call me if they had a cancellation. Great! Fast forward to Thursday, I received a message from Rosie to confirm my appt on Friday. Uhm, I cancelled that appt on Tuesday. I called her back immediately to which she didn't answer and left her a voicemail. Today, on Friday, she called to say I had missed my appointment and that I will be charged a $50 fee. Now I am irate!! Not only is Rosie incompetent in her job, she suddenly has amnesia and claims that I didn't call her Tuesday and that she didn't get my voicemail. Convenient ?? I think not. I will not return nor will my fiancé to this poorly run office. It is a shame because I had been a patient there for years. There was no accountability what so ever. I am furious and would love for the dentist to reach out to me, so I can tell him why he lost business. There are plenty of other dentists in this city. I would recommend you go elsewhere for the mere fact that I have had to spend way too much time cancelling and leaving messages and now a review that this office deserves, just because I couldn't make my appointment today. I send all my friends to Dr. Vinanek with total confidence. I have never been happier with my dental care and the servicse I receive. The Dr. is a PRO and every bit of work she has done for me has improved my smile and dental health. I am lazy when it comes to my teeth and her coaching has encouraged me to try harder and do my share as she certainly is striving to help me keep my teeth forever, to never experience unnecessary pain, and to smile again with pride as I used to many years ago. I'd never come back here again. A change in insurance plans left me needing to find a new dentist (after 27 years with my previous family dentist). I chose Elite Dental because it was in a convenient location. They took x-rays at my first visit and then told me they didn't have time to clean my teeth. They told me I had 13 cavities. I go to the dentist every 6 months, brush, and floss regularly. The staff were pushy on getting me to purchase an electric tooth brush and were incredibly eager to schedule me and come back to have all that work done! Whenever a dentist pushes like that, it's a red flag for me. I called my old dentist and went back to them for a second opinion, and it turns out I only had 2 cavities. I would advise others to stay away from Elite Dental, it seems like they want to make a sale more than provide quality dental care. read more

I had to switch dentists after some negative experiences I had here. I had a cleaning scheduled and the office called twice to reschedule it on me. When I finally went in the hygienist berated me, saying that if I kept avoiding my cleaning appointments they would have to schedule extra cleanings! And she had no interest in making me comfortable and kept elbowing me in the face. I thought Dr. Bugman was really nice at first but she kept scheduling filling after filling and never clearly and honestly stated to me exactly how many I needed. I would go in for one and then be told I had three more to fill. I would go in for three and then be told I had seven more to fill. I really feel like they were trying to squeeze as much money out of me as possible. There have to be better dentists in town so I would not recommend going here. read more

Let me start by saying that the actual dental staff, meaning the hygienist and dentist's are EXCELLENT. The office staff however is terrible. Started with them telling me that I was only covered 50% and demanding full payment. Now I had called my insurance company an hour before my visit and they assured me that I was covered 80%. After a bit of arguing and then the office staff actually calling my insurance company, turns out I was right and the amount I owed was cut drastically. Two weeks later, I start getting phone calls from the office staff telling me that I owe them hundreds of dollars for some "lab fees" that weren't covered by my insurance. I call the insurance company AGAIN, and they say they've never been billed for any lab fees so they don't know if they'd be covered. So again, demanding payment for things they didn't bother to check to see if they are covered by insurance. Honestly. I won't be back when I finish these procedures. The front office staff seems very unethical and unprofessional. read more

This place is pretty messed up. I scheduled an appointment and showed for it only to have the receptionist tell me she had me down for a week later. First of all I am out of town the date a week later and would have never scheduled it and second of all I was sitting in front of my work computer when I scheduled it and I put it right in my calender and filled out all the paperwork at the same time. Plus I had to schedule it three weeks out because they didn't have anything open. Not worth walking a mile! I'm going to try Northalsted Dental Spa, they were super awesome on the phone so I'm looking forward to going in this Thursday. read more

I've been seeing Dr. V for almost 3 years now, and she's an absolute delight, as well as the rest of the staff at Elite Dental. Dr. V has smoothed out chipped teeth and filled cavities for me, deeply cleaned my gums, advised me in at-home teeth whitening, and really helped me to get in better oral hygiene habits. As a matter of fact, I just recently came to her to fill a chipped front tooth I had become very insecure about and she did a remarkable job. Come time for my wedding photos, my smile will be the last thing I worry about thanks to her and her practice. I've never had any issues with payment or insurance, and their reception staff has always been very accommodating during times when I was running late or had to shift appointment times. read more

So, I went to this dentist because it was close to my apartment and they take my insurance. I had a check-up / cleaning / x-rays done. Everything about the procedures was just fine. The hygeniest and dentist were both nice and professional enough. I was however kind of annoyed on two counts. The first is that, even though I got there fifteen minutes before my scheduled appointment, it wasn't until fifteen minutes past my scheduled time (so 30 minutes of waiting) that I was taken from the waiting room. Then it took another fifteen minutes or so of waiting in the chair for them to start working on me! And of course after xrays I ended up waiting more to see the dentist. In all I was there for about an hour and 45 minutes. I had specifically asked when scheduling if it would take much longer than an hour and was told that an hour is about right. It's fine if it takes longer than an hour, but had I known I would have scheduled a bit differently. What was more irritating is that the dentist seemed to be pushing me to get teeth whitening. Honestly, it is a COMPLETELY cosmetic procedure - there is no health benefit to it - and if a patient (like me!) feels completely fine with how off-white their teeth may be, then let it be! The dentist made me feel a bit self-conscious. And why? So they can get me to spend hundreds on something I don't need? But aside from that.. it was fine. read more

I live at Lake Barrington but I drove an hour distance to get this better dental treatment. I prefer this particular dentist because of various positive factors. However, I am not a credulous person, so I don't expect others to rely too much on my excitement, either. I will just simply say it will be worth your visit. I recently moved to the area from WI and this is the first dentist office I've been to in Chicago. The first time I went for my cleaning, the hygienist did an excellent job. The only thing that concerned me was the 18 x-rays they had to take to get a full view of my teeth. I think they are a little behind in their technology as most places have more updated equipment that doesn't require as many x-rays. The second time I went back was for a filling. The dental assistant kept poking me with the sucker, which made it uncomfortable. The actual dentist seemed to be doing a good job, but seemed to be in a little bit of a rush. Overall they both were not very friendly or talkative, which to me is important. I will go back for one more cleaning, but would never have any more dental work done here. read more

I neglect my teeth and just paid for it in the form of a deep clean. Dr. V really does a nice job. The procedure felt like my mouth was getting pressure washed and vacuumed at the same time. All was good, except that they asked me to move up my appointment, and then I wound up waiting for 25 minutes anyway. Other than that, it was great. And my appointments have always been great. I write reviews when things go really well, or very disappointing. This is obviously a 5-star experience. I started at Elite Dental about a year ago & they were awesome. I had some extensive visits which went so well, I had to come back. After a job change/new insurance I went back knowing I'd get amazing service again. First, Chris was amazing with explaining my new insurance coverage. Michelle & Lily were great too even though I didn't work directly with them that much! Diana was my hygenist & was thorough & extremely friendly. Lastly, one of the biggest reasons I'm going back is Dr. Vihnanek. She is by far one of the most friendly & professional dentists I've ever been to. When I had my extensive work done a year ago, she helped me improve things dramatically & stay that way. I am giving two stars because I have never been treated as rudely by a receptionist as I have by the woman who answers the phones and schedules appointments for Elite Dental. She is condescending, impatient, and her tone of voice is rude. My husband and I argue over who has to call to make our appointments because neither one of us want to deal with her! The dentists and all the hygenists, however, have been nothing but kind and courteous. I hope the dentist reads this, and hires a happier, more courteous receptionist. read more

Solid service every time. From the receptionist to Dr. Vihnanek, everyone was personable and professional. I went in with some serious pain and got a thorough tour of the damage done by my own negligence. But Dr. V saved the lectures and did more to encourage me to floss regularly than any other dentist I've ever visited. Return visits for a crown and a filling went smoothly, no problems with scheduling at any time. I've never had to wait more than five minutes to be seen. Not one complaint. I don't enjoy the dentist, but this office has turned me onto preventative visits rather than holding out for disaster. Highly recommend. read more

The office is convenient to the Sheridan Red Line stop. I thought the staff and assitants were very friendly and I thought my teeth cleaning was done efficiently and well. However, if you have a busy schedule, I recommend booking an appointment far in advance (1 month +) as the early morning/late afternoon appointments are hard to come by. read more

Dr. V and her staff are always awesome. I had a previous dentist that managed to make me hate/fear going to the dentist. Over the last 2 years of going to Elite Dental, I've done a 180 and have no issues with going to the dentist. The front desk staff are great and work with my sometimes ridiculous schedule to find an appointment that will work for me. They're also very friendly. The hygienists are great, make my teeth shine. Doctor Vihnanek is very thorough and great at explaining any teeth issues/problems. Overall a very groovy place. read more

I have been to multiple dentists in this city and have often been disappointed. Elite dental has me coming back, even though I have moved out of the neighborhood. Dr. Vihnanek has always been very friendly and thorough. I have been to dentists that speed through their patients and this was not my experience with Dr. Vihnanek. She is quick, but she does address any questions that I have. Most of all, I think that the work they do is very good. I have been through some painful procedures, including intense cleaning and fillings, and I always feel that she does a very high quality job. The office staff is not great - they seem very busy all of the time. But overall, this has not affected my visits very much. read more

Elite Dental is really the worst place that I've been to for my dental needs. I was shocked that I could find a place that was even worse than my previous dentist's office. First of all, it was so hard to book an appointment with them because apparently no one is there to answer the phone. It's like calling in and trying to get Oprah tickets -- you can NEVER get through. I should have known that was a big sign that I shouldn't go with this dentist. After a few attempts to book an appointment via telephone, I decided to just sign up online. Finally, someone called me and scheduled an appointment for me. The staff is not that friendly and not very talkative, especially for someone like me who likes to feel comfortable when they go see the dentist. Since I had exhausted so much in trying to get through and book an appointment, I decided to go through with it. When I got there they took my x-rays - all 20 or so of them and thought to myself, "Is this necessary?" After my x-rays, I waited for the dentist to see me. Seriously, I felt like a drill sargeant walked in. My dential assistant who was all chatty while taking my x-rays suddenly went silent when the dentist walked in. I don't know if they exchanged some fighting words before I came in or if this was the usual vibe or not, but it was definitely tense up in there. The dentist was not even really friendly - she was all business and not the type of dentist that wants to get to know their patients and make them feel comfortable. Was not impressed. The only positive thing that I experienced at Elite Dental was my cleaning. The hygienist was friendly and did an excellent and thorough job. Overall, however, Elite Dental does not live up to its name. I have yet to find a good dentist here in Chicago. I'm still on the quest for a good one. read more

Had an AWFUL experience with both Dr. Vihnanek and her TERRIBLY rude receptionst, I believe her name is Yaritza? Anyway, she was always so flippant, condescending and just plain RUDE. She basically acted like I had no right to know anything about billing for my services and talked down to me about my insurance (which is an HMO- is that a crime now?). Additionally Dr. Vihnanek presented as being soooo irritated when I had complaints about the work she did on my teeth (a crown)...HELLO- she's the one that messed it up! And, she even admitted this by saying that all her work is guaranteed and she would do it over for me if I like. Um, why would I have the person who did it wrong and had an attitdue about it do it over?? Now, I'm going to have to pay for it cash at another dentist :-( DON"T GO TO ELITE DENTAL!!!!! read more

I have to give one star by default but given the choice I would refuse to even grant this business with one star as I was not even able to get in to see one of the dentists. I called the office late on a Friday (~4:15). The person on the other end said, "Hello". I had to ask if this was Elite Dental. Once I did, I was then promptly "disconnected" from my call. Giving the benefit of doubt, I called again. The person on the other end picked up and then immediately hung up. Waiting a few minutes, I tried again (I hoped to support this business as I've heard good things about Dr. Vihnanek) and was greeted by a different voice this time. I asked if I could make an appointment and described the prior hang up instances. I received an apology but was then told by this person that they were closing in the next 20 minutes and if I could again on Monday as the person on the other end of the line went on to say they were waiting for their ride. In as nice a manner as possible, I stated that Elite Dental has already wasted enough of my time and would not get my business--sorry Dr. Vihnanek. I have to ask that in this difficult economy, why would Elite Dental pay incompetent and insincere people as receptionists when I could imagine there are equally qualified, more deserving and much nicer people who could use and appreciate the job as well as get paid to do what the job description entails. it's been 3 years since my first review of this office, and unfortunately service has gone down hill since then. they don't answer their phone (it often goes to voicemail), when you leave a message they don't call you back, and worst of all Dr Bugman is hardly ever there now! the last 2 times i was there i had to wait 20-30 mins after my scheduled appt time to see someone. this turned a 40 min appt into one that lasted over 1 hr (plus commute time). even though i moved out of the neighborhood i was going to keep going to this dentist but due to the poor service i've decided to move on. read more

My 19 year old daughter had the unfortunate incident of having her teeth damaged when she was in first grade. After having two sets of front veneers done by other dentists who were cosmetic dentists, she ended up needing root canals to save the teeth and a great need for a third set of veneers. At that point, we found Dr. Skasko! He did an amazing job on her teeth! They look perfect, with a translucent approach that emulates her real teeth. In addition, his charges for these veneers were modest. Dr Skasko, we thank you!!! read more

DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS OFFICE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE!!! My wife and I had cleanings done here and they seemed fairly easy to get scheduled and get our regular cleaning done. The part of this that makes this experience very ill for my wife and I is when they found a few cavities and had us schedule a few appointments to have them filled. The filling appointments went ok, but we had a rude awakening when we received a bill that we had no idea would be coming. This is when we found out that they make it a standard practice to use only white enamel and not metal fillings. They did not disclose this to either of us what-so-ever and I would have gone to another practice had I known this. Just by pure ethics we should have been notified beforehand that they only do white enamel and that my insurance would not cover as much of that as metal fillings. Any other dentist I have been to will let you know this. After a while of running around with the front office about this bill and the ethics of it, I was fed up and decided I would just pay the bill since they had already provided the service of fillings (i actually only got half of mine done when I received the bill for all of ours so I still need the rest filled at another dentist). The cleanings and filling were all done this past October, November and barely into December. I received the bill midway through December and when paying, specifically asked if this covered everything and that we were done having any contact with this office because I wanted to move on and not worry about another bill or be ready for one if there would be more. I received confirmation and didn't see anything else, until this past week, on May 15 I received a bill for work done in December. The front office person who called me, also informed me that if I do not pay within the next month, I will be handed off to third party creditors and be hounded by them. This will of course increase how much I owe substantially and also gives me no time to dispute considering I did not receive the bill until May 15 rather than one a month out from December, or any in between. I have already filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, but that is all I can really do. It isn't legally wrong, they have done enough by the book to still get my money, but ethically it is completely unsound. I recommend finding another dentist and asking questions about their practice and what they proved upfront before any bills surprise you in the end. read more

This place has provided some of the worst experiences my wife and I have had in health care. First off, they tried to overcharge us, but I was able to convince them (without even giving solid proff, which shows they knew what they were up to) that they weren't following the rules of our insurance company. The front desk woman is extremely rude.There were multiple calls where she acted very put out to be on the phone. In one instance she scoffed, and was whiny and told me she was trying to sort out their electric bill with comed on the other line. Extremely unproffesional. The hygenist had horrible B.O. (hygenist, HA!) My wife had fillings done and they forgot to file them down, and they repeatedly slipped with tools cutting her lips and gums, so she was in excruciating pain for a week until they took her back in to "fix" the situation. On the second visit, they paralyzed half of her face for the day (not normal for this procedure, apparently), and didn't fix the problem. She went back two following times and the issue is still with us. We are having to resort to a new dentist where we will have to pay for these procedures all over again. Again, the front desk woman would consistenly act put out, "What is it, NOW, Elaine!??" AVOID THIS OFFICE AT ALL COSTS!!!! PLEASEEE!!!!! read more
