I chose Elite motor works from the web because of the excellent reviews. I took my 2012 R8 to them for significant work on my suspension and brakes. The need for this work was initially brought to my attention by the Audi dealer. Elite Motor Works did a good job at a fair price (less than the dealer). Months later, I brought the car in for an oil change and was informed that the motor mounts on my car needed to be replaced. They showed me two pictures which showed flattened motor mounts. The price they quoted me to repair them was $11,500. I then called the Audi dealer and asked them what they would charge for this work, and they quoted me $8,500. However, they told me that their R8 technician was skeptical that the motor mounts would require replacement on a car with less than 20K miles. They asked that bring the car in so that they could take a look at it, which I did. The Audi service technician subsequently informed me that the mounts were fine and showed me a video of the inspection. The mounts in the video were not flattened at all and did not resemble the static images presented to me by Elite Motors. You can draw your own conclusions. I don't recommend this place. I had a hole in maybe a few of my coolant hoses. They said it was over $3,000. They said they gave me a break only keep it for almost a week and $1,900 later they fixed it. I am a widow woman and on a budget. I was ripped off. I strongly suggest you not go here. read more

Complete fraud. They took my car for a joy ride considering over a quarter of a tank was missing when I picked it up. Also curbed my rim. They fixed a coolant hose and overfilled the coolant well past the fill line and were so kind as to "warm the car up" for me so I couldn't check it before I went to work when I picked it up first thing in the morning. The fact someone woke up early enough to go to work and drive my car long enough before I got there, right as they opened, shows their intent to lie and deceive. Blew another hose a week later and when I asked to inspect it, it was cut all the way through, in a perfectly straight line, like someone just sawed through it. They conveniently refused to keep the hose to conceal their dishonesty. They waste all your time and it's obvious from their fraudulent practices they are desperate for something. Make sure you know how many hours your repair takes, they like to double up on those too just like the list price of their after market parts. read more

This shop was referred to me by a trusted friend, so I trusted this shop to treat me fairly a repair on a 2010 Mini Cooper. They actually worked on the car twice, the first time with the cars main computer, and the second with replacing a crank sensor. I shut up and paid the first repair, even though I thought the cost was 50% more than what it should have been. The car broke down in about 50 miles. It was towed back to their shop, and I was told it was a crank sensor, which they said they checked while doing the first repair. No problem, I thought, okay, I'm in the car business, and have had this repair done many, many times. I was pretty sure what approximately the cost should be. In retrospect, I should've gotten them to give me a repair estimate before the work commenced. They did not offer a verbal estimate, nor a written estimate. Again, I trusted them to "be fair" with me, as they were referred by another shop that I had the upmost confidence in to be fair. Unfortunately the result was a repair that was nearly 100% more than what I had recently paid for the exact same repair. I questioned the amount of the bill when I picked the car up, and was met with the attitude of, "that's how much it is, tough luck". The manager, Gordon, is a condescending jerk, basically treating me like a second class citizen. In conclusion, if you want to be treated poorly, grossly overcharged to have your car repaired, by all means go to Elite Motor Works. Don't say you haven't been forewarned. read more

I will preface this by stating that I manage a customer experience department for a Fortune 100 company. In most cases, the experience a customer has can mean more than the actual services rendered. Let's face it, how a customer feels about your business plays a big part on whether or not they come back. That being said, from St Pete to North Port, there isn't an automotive repair facility I'd rather go to than Elite Motor Works. Jamie, Renee and the staff there simply get it. The front of the house is immaculate and comfortable. That should be a given but in the world of independent repair facilities, it simply isn't. Elite's facility is on par with any BMW dealership I've ever been in. Check mark #1. Jamie was kind enough to give me a tour of the 'back of the house'; where the wrenches are actually turned. Let me say that the same things I said about the front waiting area extends to the actual shop. I believe a clean and orderly shop is an efficient one. And an efficient one means my car is fixed sooner. So another check mark for Elite! Finally, we all want to be treated fairly when we take our cars in for repair. Let's face it, no one likes to go through that experience because you never know if you're getting the straight story. Not the feeling I got from Jamie and Renee. I don't know what exactly it was but I felt like I was taking my car to family. And not that crazy uncle everyone has either but the family you actually trust. When I got into my car there was even a handwritten note in a card from the owner thanking me for my business. Like I said, they simply get it. Check mark #3 and the hat trick is complete!! I still haven't gotten over what happened when I left my Mercedes for five days for an air conditioning repair. When I picked up my car, the odometer had an additional 1,945 miles. I am sure of the mileage because I had been watching carefully for my car to hit the 100,000 mile mark, and Elite Motorworks had also documented the mileage on their paperwork when I dropped off the car. When I picked up my car, I was shocked that somehow the 100,000 mile milestone had been surpassed and 1,945 miles had been put on the car while in Elite Motorwork's possession. The owner was adamant that my car did not leave their facility and claimed that the mileage documented on the paperwork was a mistake. I declined the owner's offer to bring the car back for testing at their facility to try to determine what happened. When I called the Mercedes dealership where I bought the car to see if they had ever heard of anything like this, they were in disbelief. The other dealership I consulted with could find no reasonable explanation for the additional mileage except that someone drove the car for those miles. I am so disappointed. read more

Finally, I've found an automotive service facility I can trust. Confidence/trust is the essential element in any business transaction. This element is very needed in the much misaligned service of automotive repair. At Elite one is met by Gordon Chapman the service manger. After accessing the needs of your car it is turned over to the certified and trained mechanics of the garage. Upon completion of the needed tasks or repairs you are presented with an itemized invoice of all labor and parts used. Total transparency. Included on the invoice is a checklist of routine maintenance and observed situations that will need future attention. Planning such is not only financially helpful but goes a long way to prevent a road side breakdown. The large waiting room is clean, inviting and comfortable. The shop is organized with Teutonic precision and is maintained surgically clean. Many companies have laughable hyperbolic names. Elite has earned its name. It is above the norm. I will continue to bring my MINI S, a BMW product with the performance and quirkiness of that pedigree, to Elite. My experience with Elite Motor Works is so overwhelmingly positive that I can't help but tell everyone I know about them. Until this point, I thought a good shop was one that I could trust to tell me the right thing that was wrong and then provide my car to me with everything put back in its place (it's amazing how many shops can't even do that). However, Elite has given me a new standard that is so much higher. They take the experience so much farther. In a conversation with the owner, Jamie told me that they live by the rule "What's the right thing to do for the customer?" They've proven to me that they do indeed live by that rule. My latest service put that to the test. 3-4 months ago I brought my new (to me) Jaguar to Elite for a preventative differential oil change. They noticed while doing this service that the previous owner hadn't performed a wheel bearing replacement correctly. The bearing was pressed in at an angle and it was a mess. I asked Elite to fix it, and they did. I also asked for the old parts back so I could show the previous owner what his shop did, which Elite provided with no hesitation. 3 months later, I began getting ABS add DCS faults. I took the car into Elite to review. Upon diagnosing the car, they noticed codes that related to the speed sensor for the wheel that had the bearing service. So, they immediately told me they'd waive the diagnostic fee, since it was related to an earlier service (...the right thing to do, of course). In researching why the faults were coming up, they determined that the OEM replacement bearing they had used was showing a slightly different pulse count, and therefore speed, than the other wheel. Elite decided the right thing to do was replace the right wheel bearing at no charge to me (amazing, an expensive service...complimentary to alleviate an issue that could be argued wasn't directly their fault). They also knew I needed my car for an upcoming trip, so they told me if they couldn't complete the service in time they'd provide a loaner car (going above and beyond, if you ask me). The story doesn't end here, after performing the 2nd wheel bearing service, they found the problem was solved. Both rear wheel speed sensors matched. Except, now the rear axle and the front axle registered different speeds and the car computer was not happy. Elite was shocked as their part provider claimed less than 4% returns on their bearings, never having seen this problem before. Again, following their motto, Elite did what they felt was right and ordered two new bearings from Jaguar directly, and replaced both rear wheel bearings (2 more bearing services, no charge to me), and extended my loaner car for almost a week. To put the cherry on the sundae, the car was ready on Friday, as they had told me it would be. However, I got hung up at my customer and couldn't be there to pick it up. The owner offered to come into the shop on Saturday, when they're normally closed, and make the exchange of my car for the loaner. I've never had this kind of service from a shop, nor have I even heard of this level of service. Renee, Jamie, and everyone else at Elite who I haven't met are rock stars, in my opinion. If you have a car that they'll service, it's a no-brainer that this should be where you take your car. read more

I've never reviewed anything before, but I don't know where else to go to hold this shop accountable in any way, shape, or form for their heinous service. I ended up paying for work I didn't want done and 1 min after leaving the lot I noticed my "fix bulb" indicator light was still lit up on my dashboard! They charged me $36 for this and apparently never fixed the issue! Both Renee and Jamie were nice on the phone when I initially brought in my car, but later, boy they would not take any responsibility for errors on their part. My car went to their shop on Thursday at 3pm, I got a call Monday at 3pm diagnosing 6 things that could use fixing, 1 of which would take about 1 hr and would cost an extra $109 for that hour of labor. I told them to fix 5 of the 6 problems (including the 1 hr thing). At 5:19 Monday night I called to let them know I will be trading my car in at the dealership so I don't need all the bells and whistles. Renee tells me the mechanic has left the shop but she will tell them and that they didn't do all the repairs in the past 2 hours. Tuesday at noon Jaime tells me all the repairs were done, I was too late. That is ok because I initially said to do them, but it seems so incredibly unlikely that it took from Thursday at 3pm to Monday at 3pm to tell me what is wrong with the car, then only 2 hours or less to fix 5 problems, including 1 which took "at least 1 hr". 3 times I tried to explain my frustration with this timeline and Renee never acknowledged my queries (keep in mind, a simple explanation like, "yea, we had the car ready and fixed everything right after you called on Monday afternoon" would have been the end of story). So I am now upset that Renee has not been able to offer me any sort of explanation yet she has had no problem giving me the $600 bill, I went to get my car to finally drive home. Renee had explicitly told me to come at 2:30 to get my car at noon that same day, but the car wasn't ready. I found this out when waiting outside in 95 degree heat in a suit when Renee came outside at 2:35 and said "oh sorry it'll be 10 more minutes." 20 minutes later, I walked back inside to ask what is happening and ask if I can please just have the car, even if they aren't done cleaning it yet, because I just want to get home. 1 minute after leaving the parking lot I look down and on my dashboard is the burned out light bulb sign. I call back to the shop where both Renee and Jamie tell me that they fixed all electrical problems and faulty bulbs and that the only possible explanation for the illuminated light is that another bulb happened to go out literally the second I drove off their lot!!!!! Not 1 "sorry for miscommunication", not 1 "sorry for waiting," not 1 "sorry that happened" and not 1 admission of any wrongdoing. Just "too bad it must've broken the second you left that is the only reasonable answer." They make such a point to tell the customer it is $109 for 1 hr of service, but apparently do not care at all about your time. I spent 20 min in the parking lot, I drove 30 min from my home to the shop, and after I already paid them assuming they actually fixed what they billed me for, they basically let me know my time (30 more min to drive back to their shop again so that they can actually fix the problem they have already billed me for) is of no value. I am still overwhelmed with disappointment that their response was to the effect that clearly they did nothing wrong, the bulb happened to break that millisecond, and sorry your time is worthless but ours is very valuable. Again, first time reviewer here, but feel like they took my time, money, and did not do the job I paid them $600 to do. I've never sent food back at a restaurant or complained about service, but this was a truly heinous experience. I'm sure if they fix your car they are worth a 5/5 star review, but boy if something goes wrong, good look having them taking 1 ounce of responsibility or offering you any empathy. read more
