The dentist is very disrespectful very bias unprofessional. If I was y'all, I'll take my money elsewhere because they are nice and polite until they get your money it's a whole different story. They will call you with an appointment and when you get there, they will say that's not appointment that they gave you but one of the ladies was very respectful and she helped me get in the chair, even though other staff wasn't trying to let me see anyone. If I could give this place a 0 star, I would. Initial encounter was ok, until when I went to get my last set of trays for my Invisalign and was told my treatment was over. You can imagine the surprise. it felt like a bad dream. When I started the process, pictures were taken each visit and was told I was getting 23 trays. I went for my 11 to 15th tray in June,m was supposed to wear each set for 2 weeks, but it took time because sometimes I would forget to put them back right away. No one had told me that if I did not complete treatment within 23 months, I would have to start over. Because each tray gets tighter as you go, I thought all I had to do was to go get my last set the next time I go there, since the treatment was already paid for. When I finally made an appointment and arrived this February, I was told my treatment had expired. This is something no one explained to me and 8k was down the drain. I asked them that, why did no one call nor text me to let me know that my treatment was about to expire? They said it was not their responsibility. They were rude, nonchalant, no empathy and didn't care because they had already been paid. I was so upset and disappointed. They think this is over, but I am willing to take this as far as I can. They are scammers as far as I am concerned and I would advise anyone to save their money and look for another practice. They basically told me that if I wanted to continue, I would have to extend time and pay more. Someone is going to pay quite alright, but it won't be me. read more

Two of my children received care at Elite in Bowie. Our first child received braces covered through insurance (Medicaid at the time) with positive results. When our second child needed braces, we were told that they no longer accepted Medicaid and we would need to pay the full fee out of pocket. We proceeded since we had an ok experience the first time, barring one negative experience with the front desk. We were told my son would need Invisalign. I was on a payment plan for $250 per month ($6299 total to be paid) and had about 81% ($5100) of the fee paid less than 1 year into a 2-year plan (payments were made between 10/27/21-9/29/22). I was charged late fees ($250 total) during this time, even though I was significantly ahead on payments, and my plan was canceled in December of 2022. When I inquired about the issue with the front office several times, I was told it was the lender's issue (OrthoFi). When I contacted OrthoFi, they told me this was Elite's issue. I went back and forth several times and my plan was never reinstated. OrthoFi told me that my payments were being applied to the end of the plan, which didn't make sense. As of today, my issue has never been resolved. I wanted to finish care, but there appeared to be no resolution after several unanswered calls to Elite. My son's treatment was not finished, I am out $5K, and I was sent to collection for $1300 that I had the ability to pay despite attempting to resolve the issue. read more

Once my daughter treatment was paid in full she was dismissed with her braces still intake, my daughter was pregnant and going through psychological treatments and depression, the stay and the Dr is very rude and do not care about the patients just the money. Why should my daughter have to go and pay again for treatment that was already paid in full full. I received invisalign treatment from Elite Ortho, and every step of the way has been painful. First, there was no information provided about what invisalign entailed - I had to get attachments on every single tooth which I was not expecting. Attachments fell off multiple times throughout the process, and there was no guidance on whether my teeth were truly moving in the right position. When my treatment ended, I was then charged $900 for a retainer. It turned out that this cost was already part of my payment plan, so this meant that they double charged me. Finally, I have tried multiple times to pick up my retainer to no avail - it's never in the office (???) For a $6-7000 investment this is not the experience I was expecting. read more

Love love love Dr. Aliu and her staff! Coming into braces as an adult was weird at the beginning but I've been a patient for over a year and I just love her to pieces! Highly recommend for any adults in the DMV area seeking braces to consult with her. Not to mention I'm more open to having fun colors because hey the wires are not going anywhere anytime soon! All in all great office, super clean and chic feel. Response time is great in case you need to reschedule appointments and they also have a login portal to check balances and schedule appointments. Dr. Aliu and the technicians remembered me, and it's because the practice is so personable and welcomes all returning and new patients.....she's an AMAZING Orthodontist and provides excellent orthodontic care. She paired me with Darli as my technician, who was patient and very personable. My experience with this office was initially pleasant and I was extremely pleased with our initial visit on November 10th. The office was clean and the staff was friendly and accommodating. The staff walked me through best case scenarios, insurance coverage, their professional recommendation and my "potential" out of pocket cost. I explained to them I was expecting an insurance change that would be effective January 1st so my coverage and potential out-of-pocket cost would likely change by the time I received services. I was even encouraged to apply for a line of credit to cover any cost that may not have been covered by my insurance, which I did and was approved for. During my initial assessment, Dr. Aliu, recommended a prerequisite periodontal therapy provided by a separate care provider (primary care dentist) prior to the installation of my braces. I informed the office I had an upcoming dental appointment scheduled for December 30th with a new primary but explained to them that I did not think my primary dentist would perform this service during my initial consultation with him (on December 30th). He would likely schedule a later date for my therapy, thus leaving me with no confirmed date for the prerequisite periodontal therapy and thus no date for the beginning of any orthodontist services (or braces). We agreed that this in fact would be a more in-depth process with me first obtaining the periodontal therapy from my primary dental care provider and later returning for orthodontic services upon completion of my therapy. Dr. Aliu "predicted" I would suffer a great amount of tooth loss as a result of therapy and thus recommended the Invisalign form of braces. I did want to get a second opinion after I had actually had the therapy, but at this point did not have any objections. As it turns out my primary dental care provider recommended a 3-part periodontal therapy process later scheduled to begin in early February and end in early March, but did not believe I would suffer as much loss as Dr. Aliu originally predicted and therefore may still be a candidate for traditional braces. My issue arose about two months after my initial visit (on December 21st) when I received a bill for braces that were not yet installed. A $7,000 bill at that. On January 25th I called to seek clarity surrounding the bill and was informed that although I had not yet begun services and wouldn't even be able to obtain services (THEY RECOMMENDED) for several months (at least 4-5 months) after my initial visit, they had taken the liberty to order my braces and bill a line of credit in my name to cover the costs totaling $7,000. I have never ever received any kind of medical services where I have been billed 4-5 months in advance. Particularly when the office understands there is an upcoming insurance change between the initial visit and the follow-up services. Ex: When Adventure Dental realized my insurance was changing, they simply moved my son's appointment for his normal cleaning from the last week in December to the first week in January to avoid any additional out-of-pocket costs and confusion. Apparently Elite Orthodontics handles their billing differently. They explained to me that this is their regular business practice which in my opinion is preposterous and extremely misleading. When I voiced this concern, they simply offered to cancel my contract and have the credit provider on the line of credit refund me the money I had already paid (SN: I paid the initial and follow-up bills upon receipt in an attempt to protect my credit). They never explained why they thought it was okay to bill a preliminary amount of $7,000 before even finding out what my new insurance would cover for a product/service 4-5 months in advance of receiving it. The person I spoke with even went as far as to shade my primary care dentist and imply that he didn't know his craft and couldn't speak to any condition of my teeth after the periodontal service that he would have to provide. I swear, the longer I stayed on the phone, the worse the conversation got. Word of advice for the staff over at Elite. If you do not know what to say, do not say anything. Let someone that does know the answer return your customer's call immediately. I'm happy you canceled the contract and will patiently await my refund, but just trying to figure out how and why this happened was a cluster fuque of an experience. Saying, "Oops this should not have happened, and we apologize" would have saved this customer relationship, but justifying very poor, and quite frankly, unethical business practices is something I simply can not forgive. But as you've already noted in one of your responses below, with 150 positive patient reviews on Google, I guess you can afford to be cocky instead of humble! read more

I usually do not complete reviews, but I just had to leave some constructive feedback. I've been going through this brace process for a while now. My treatment hasn't been bad, but last Monday 4/18, I practically felt like I was forced to take my braces off when I felt like a "little" more work could be done. Seriously a small gap in between my teeth. The doctor basically argued with me about how I felt with not removing my braces....I was asked how I felt, i was honest and then she started to go back and forth in front of everyone (rudely) after I was completely honest with how I felt and why I felt that way. She told me I was wrong and that no more work could be done.The two teeth are touching so it's fine (teeth are no longer touching now btw, they barely touched last Monday when she showed me with the floss) She caught an attitude when I tried to reschedule to come back for my retainer and told me I was being rude and wasting their time because I wasn't available when they wanted me to be. (lol) I've waited plenty of times for long periods for them btw. A week later and the gap looks wider than last week. (And yes I've been wearing my retainer 24/7, only removing to eat) The gap wasn't even the big deal, it's how I was treated in the process of her trying to prove her point. If you're going to rudely go back and forth with your clients after asking how they feel, why even ask ‍. Other than that little hiccup, no issues, staff very friendly. As a very short time employee, this place was absolutely horrid! Dr. A is conceded and stuck on herself. She talks to her staff like they're nothing! The front office(office manager) is a ding ding and doesn't have a clue as to what she's doing. The Dr. has pictures of herself all throughout the office and barely works while the staff literally do everything. Her work is very subpar and patient results are awful. There is an older black woman that works there whom is very pleasant and a very hardworking employee but you wouldn't know it because the doctor talks down to her in front if everyone, staff and patients. The name of the practice is accurate because she actually views herself as an elite! Usually my visits with Elite Otho are fine, but today (7/20/22) during my 10:30 appointment I felt uneasy. There was a tech that was servicing me that had no clue about what tray I was on, how often I change my trays, and my rubber band size. I literally was like "wait I'm sorry, is this all not in my file?" When the tech asked if I had any issues. I said no not really, I just want to know when conversations about refinements and retainers will begin. She explained the process and was like basically during my next appointment we will make a determination which is fair. But then she proceed to say " well your teeth look perfect now" and they in fact weren't. I still have a great amount of spacing and the alignment of my teeth (midline) is off. You're not a specialist, you have no business telling people whether their teeth is perfect or not. Like if you knew any details of my case. You would know I have cross bites on both sides of my mouth. I had to tell the front desk lady to please put me with a consistent person. I really enjoyed Maria during my first visit back in January. I paid wayyyyyy too much money for staff not to know anything about my case. This is alarming and I will be paying close attention to everyone. The other recent reviews scare me too. Am I going to be pushed back against too because Dr. Aliu thinks my teeth are perfect but I think otherwise? The worse practice I've ever Entered. The doctor is a crook she treats her staff like peasants. She has a revolving door of staff . She's very disrespectful and thinks she better than the people that work for her. In the treatment area it's very clean but behind close doors her instruments are very rusty. I took off the day from work, and I drove an hour in the rain for the appointment. I had an issue with my referral from my Endodontist, and I asked the dentist would she just give me a consultation. first of all i would like to start by saying that dr aliu was completely rude to me on my recent visit. because i didnt want their dirty instruments in my mouth to take pictures. she recommended in a rude way that i transfer or she can remove my braces right then and there knowing my primary dentist had an issue with the spacing that was in my mouth and wanted to communicate with her because of a issue that arose when he made his impressions. even after expressing my concerns with her about the instruments and asking if clean instruments can be used and not ones with brown residue that i literally scratched off the instrument she still continued to ignore what i said and tell her front desk employee to issue the refund for the lifetime warranty retainers i paid for. from day 1 nothing that dr aliu said she would do was done. i also ended up being charged $1000 for a reinstate fee but on my paperwork says "additional cost adjustment" when the fee is $150 because i paid that the 2nd time by her former staff manager trish!! when i asked her about the reinstatement fee the first time being $1000 vs the $150 it was the second time she lost track of her words and didnt have anything to say. she clearly doesnt care about patients health. then she had the nerve to ask me to sign a early release form as if she didnt tell her director to come to me and say we can no longer offer you treatment. mind you all of this is because the tools in her office are stained with brown reside (which at a point in time wasnt so i didnt mind taking the pictures) !! you dont treat nobody that spends $7700 of their hard earned money( mind you the treatment was $6400 when i first started but they sneaky) like that. read more
