The guy was very considerate and looked at everything, then he called Charles back, who called me, and quoted me $6,500 to replace the entire 250 square foot roof. He kept saying it was 500 square feet, which it definitely is not (he had not seen it in person). I tried to talk through various options with him, but as soon as it became clear I likely wasn't going to spend $6,500 on the spot to replace the entire roof, he became disinterested and eventually hung up on me. I get Charles not wanting to waste time, but the numbers he was throwing at me seemed very large, especially for the situation. He wasn't wiling to talk through things at all unless I was going to commit to thousands of dollars on the spot. Also, after some less rushed research, $6,500 is a very high price for a 250 square foot flat roof. Charles seemed like a nice enough fellow - but I can't help feeling that I narrowly escaped being taken for a very expensive ride because i needed work done quickly - as anyone with a leaking roof likely can relate to!

We called C. Johnston after suffering from sporadic leaks in our new apartment for the last 6 months. Charles, his sons, Santiago and the crew did a phenomenal job on a difficult project that involved laying down a new roof and replacing a skylight at our coop in SoHo. Much of the roof was underneath a large deck that had to be moved (and then reassembled) in order to replace the roof. The deck was put back together in great condition, and the new roof has withstood a few storms already with no leaks. The price was fair (Charles specifically made a point to not oversell a more expensive method when it wasn't needed) the communication was clear & frequent, and the team left my place in better condition then when they arrived.
