Wonderful atmosphere with skylights and natural lighting, superb coffee and desserts, amazing crêpes, reasonably priced, friendly and efficient service. Crêpes are served on sushi roll plates and are filling and delicious. We tried both the chicken pesto (with fresh basil leaves inside as well - a nice touch) and turkey crêpes, and the Mexican mocha made with fresh ground Mexican chocolate. The Turmeric Latte was also excellent as was the cappuccino, all made with their own blended Screaming Goat coffee. And, there is a dessert case to die for with a huge variety of exquisitely presented treats. Staff were friendly, extremely efficient and communicative. There are three different separate spaces to sit: the main dining area near the bar, a narrow side nook, and a back open air porch away from the street. There is a very comfortable sofa, and quite wonderfully and whimsically, one of the tables has a swing :-) And, it's all wonderfully clean and airy. read more

My fav cafe in PB area. Great ACTUAL macchiatos (not the made up Starbucks stuff). Their own coffee beans are very good, and the donuts and cakes are delicious, the strawberry mascarpone is one of my favorites. Very quaint place, perfect for a little cafe, clean and nice. Baristas were very nice too. I come here at least once a month. (I have only given out I think 1 five star ever, so this is a great review!) read more

Why is it that the employees of a business with a bad attitude always destroy the reputation and economics of a good running business???? As an employer I'm always concern about this in my business!!! It happens all the time when you like to go to a coffee shop that is owned and operated by the same owner and you get a superb service in one location (La Jolla ) and horrible service in another (garnet ) location! All I wanted was to change a pastry that I purchased and reaction to exchange it was too rude and a bit snobby! I have retail stores also and the customers always come first...... Please No attitude , No anger reaction,No shows ..... if you care about your business Just give a simple smile and few dollars of loss with pay back in hundreds.... Perhaps the management will take this more seriously and teach those girls behind the counter that the business is more than just making a cappuccino or server a pastry! read more

I was in this neighborhood repeatedly these past two weeks and needed a place to work while waiting - and I am so lucky Elixir Espresso Bar exists! The space is beautifully designed, decorated, and used. Lots of natural light, good people watching, a back patio that overlooks an unusual and striking-looking private residence (it has a curved shape and is so cute!), comfortable seating (even a swing?!?), and good-sized tables (I was able to fit my laptop, mouse, plate, and mug with ease). The food and drinks are delicious, fresh, and beautifully presented. I have now had 5 of their drinks (2 iced, 3 hot), and 7 of their menu items (acai bowl, prosciutto baguette, veggie baguette, Nutella crepe, avocado toast, almond toast, vanilla donut) and they were all good. Also, the service is excellent - friendly, knowledgeable, professional, and quick. I wish I were in the area more often. read more

As soon as I walked in, a very nice lady with short brown hair that was working welcomed me in and immediately attended to me. I had a few questions about the coffee and she was really friendly with me. I can't get over how sweet she was! I ordered the iced caffe Viennese which is made of honey and cinnamon, and I loved it! It had a more cinnamon dominated taste than honey, that I really enjoyed. I also got the Nutella toast and it was so so good! It had bananas on it and the bread was really high quality. There's a cool table that has a swing on it, a few other tables, and then sofas. There's a few steps leading to another area from the main area, and there's a few more tables there as well. I would definitely come back here to do work as it is very calm. I was able to find street parking easily. read more

I am genuinely confused by the good reviews. The coffee was mediocre. We got the matcha latte and some coffees as a group, and they were all either too sweet or lacking any flavor. The only one that was ok was the mocha. The desserts, dear god the desserts. The gf donuts are disgusting. Texture is chewy and stale, a sad attempt at gf. The crepe cakes, I have never tasted a worse crepe cake. Rubbery, dry, dense, and really terrible. Not a single person in our group of 8 enjoyed them. The chocolate was slightly less offensive than the matcha, but both could easily bounce off the floor. The other chocolate desserts were mediocre, only the chocolate trilogy cake was ok. The only saving grace that we could agree on was the banana bread, but how do you mess up banana bread? read more

The coffee is very good. I did not like the ambiance. I came on Thursday afternoon to try to get some work done. They are doing construction and cutting of tile in the middle of the day. It was very distracting and considering it closes at 4 pm do not quite understand why this could not be completed after-hours. read more
