Service was nice at the counter. I tried to order online, but couldn't modify with light cheese so I came in & ordered at the counter. Luckily even though they don't usually allow modifications, I was able to order easy on the cheese & get the Red Sauce instead of the spicier Vodka Sauce. I visited Square Pie Guys in Walnut Creek on May 2 around 5:30 PM. I had previously visited the Oakland location several months ago and remembered enjoying it. The pizza was decent, and the wings were excellent, so I was genuinely excited to try this location. Unfortunately, this visit didn't live up to my expectations. The pizza was okay, but the chicken was extremely salty and difficult to eat. It also didn't taste as fresh as I remembered from my previous experience. Considering how much I spent, I left feeling like it was a waste of money. I was really looking forward to the meal, which made the disappointment even greater. This may have just been an off day, but based on this experience, I probably won't be returning. I hope others have a better experience because I had high hopes going in. We love Detroit Style Pizza!!! Honestly Square Pie Guys is one of the few pizza joints around here that actually offers something relatively close to the kind we could get in Michigan. The only downside for us is the price because it's still considered a relatively new trend here in the Bay Area, and the price reflects that. In my opinion $25-$30 for 4 slices is too expensive for pizza in our budget, so we sadly couldn't afford to get it as often as we'd like. But yesterday was the last day of their Buy One Get One Free deal, and we didn't wanna miss it! We ordered through the app, and I wish it was a little more flexible. They had some pre-set pizzas to choose from, but you couldn't modify them at all. For example, we don't like Hot Honey on pizza, but if a pre-set came with it, there was absolutely no option to remove it. That felt really inconvenient since we liked all the other toppings and just really wanted to remove literally one. Because of that, we ended up having to build our own pizzas, which honestly wasn't hard to do. With that said though, the confusing part that we found out later was that when you build your own pizza, the extra toppings apparently aren't included in the Buy One Get One Free deal. So we ended up paying full price for all the added toppings on both pizzas, which felt a little misleading and caught us by surprise when we saw the final total cost. That being said, the pizza itself was really yummy. We got a Pepperoni Pizza and another one with Pepperoni, Italian Sausage, Marinated Bell Peppers, and Red Onion. Both were super delicious. I loved how fluffy the bread was while the bottom of it still had that crispy crunch. The cheese flavor really came through, and the toppings were super flavorful too. But at the end of the day, it's sadly still a little pricey for us to get regularly, but I really hope they bring back the Buy One Get One Free deal again sometime soon because we'd definitely order again. read more

After watching the FIFA final, which went longer than expected, we were starving and excited to finally try this spot for a late lunch. I'd heard so many great things about it, and since my partner is a huge pizza fan, we couldn't wait to give it a try. The restaurant was clean, spacious, and had plenty of seating. There's also metered parking right out front, which made stopping by really convenient. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and our pizza came out about 15 minutes after ordering. I did an order pick up of their Lemon Pepper pizza and GURL, it is sooo yummy!! The Lemon Pepper pie definitely a creative pizza that's the antithesis to classic (boring) pizzas. It has white sauce, crispy fried chicken, lemon pepper seasoning, topped with ranch and scallions. Deliciously zesty so you don't feel like a heavy oily weight after eating it. I am not a pizza fan (yes I'm a weirdo) but this square pie had a grip on me! I didn't even get a photo for this review. I had to stop myself from finishing the whole thing. One of my favorite pizza spots in WC, even though I'm not the biggest fan of Detroit style pizza their flavor combinations make the pizza amazing. The wings are hella good and the garlic fries are always on point. They don't have regular soda in the store but do carry craft soda and some beer. The service is always very friendly but I've only done take out so can't review for those eating there. The ambiance of the store is very clean and modern. I only saw one bathroom inside the store, with the sinks being outside of the actual bathroom. Overall have been back there multiple times and will continue to come back. read more

I came here for the first time last week on my birthday. I work close by so I met up with my dad and we got our pizza. I had a slice of the Ellen Supreme and slice of the Mush Room one. I should have just one honestly because it's so filling but I couldn't resist since it was my first time. Both of them were packed with flavor and I absolutely loved it other than burning the roof of my mouth. I got leftovers to have my husband try and he loved it just as much, too. The servers here were super attentive and friendly, too. I will absolutely come back to try another pizza on the menu until I figure which one is my favorite. The only reason I gave four stars instead of five is because when we sat outside, it can be SO loud with BART passing by. I'm hard of hearing as it is so I was getting a little overwhelmed. Square Pie Guys is easily one of my favorite pizza spots. I ordered the "Da Grubby Pie" (limited edition*) which consisted of white sauce, pickled jalapeños, gochujang bbq chicken, green onions, sesame seeds, and topped with their alabama white sauce. The pie was perfectly cheese-y with some asian flavors (and a hint of spice). Also, don't forget to get their complementary sparkling water! Service was relatively quick. We dropped into this location while Square Pie Guys was having their 40% off for opening week. The honey and I split a 'Make Your Own' and we loved that they had an option for Impossible Meat as well as Herb Chicken. I'm not usually a fan of deep dish, but the honey is and we found the crust not too crunchy and well cooked. I did feel they went a bit light on the toppings, but the price was very reasonable and the service was prompt and friendly. They also have so much more seating than we expected both inside and outdoors. All in all, they're a solid 3.6 and the location is fantastic for the local lunch crowd. Small but cute place, very much a casual spot where you order in the front and pay out before sitting down. They have beers, pizzas and small bites. We tried the P-lo pizza that consisted 4 slices for about $25 as well as a side of the Schezuan dry wings. It was rather salty but very crispy which I liked. The pizza had quite a kick to it, they do not skimp on the ingredients which is great. The pizza is rather small but it is filling especially if you get small bites as well. We decided to try the pizza during the soft opening. There was a 40% off promotion. My friend had waited almost two hours the day before for her order so I was a little skeptical. The app wasn't accepting orders so I decided to check the website. The app had hours 11:30am-9:00, but the website listed 3:00pm--9:00pm. Ordering opened up a little after 3:00pm. I was bummed to see a number of the pizzas unavailable. The estimated wait time was 35 mins. My partner arrived about 45 mins after the order was placed and he could see our order just sitting there. It was closer to 50-55 minutes for the two pizzas. We settled on the Big Von and Ellen Supreme. The bread itself was very good. The Ellen Supreme toppings were just okay. The pickled peppers and grilled onions were underwhelming. We couldn't really taste the sauce on the Big Von. It was a little doughy. The Oakland location is prime, but I am so glad that this location has opened! There are limited food options in this area (office buildings) and we definitely needed more variety for lunch. The pizza is so good and I have to say, their gluten free dough is probably one of the best out there. If you like pepperoni, sausage, and honey, try The Big Von! It's delicious! I love that they often have BOGO free or other deals that really make it worth the money. The workers are so friendly and always welcome you with a smile. It was a bit disappointing when the cashier didn't quite get my request. I asked about vegan options, and the cashier recommended the plant supreme. When I got back to my hotel, I tried the pizza and noticed the cheese was quite strong. Since I haven't had dairy in about ten years, the cheese really stood out. I emailed Jackie, the General Manager, about my order, and she checked it out and found out it wasn't vegan. This isn't right, especially since I'm vegan. If you're vegan, please be extra careful and make sure the cashier knows. My cashier was aware, but it seems they didn't pay enough attention to my needs. We dropped in for lunch on a rainy day. Parking is a bit of a challenge. Outdoor seating was not an option because of the weather. Indoor the place is huge behind the counter but customer seating is limited, especially for large groups. The metal chairs are definitely not very comfortable. One orders at the counter and you take your drinks to your table but they do bring the food to the table. Now the positive stuff: all three pizzas that we shared were delicious! Crispy,thick and tasty! Jackie was very kind and helpful, even though she was the sole employee by about 2pm. The cookie was big enough for six of us to share! Wish I had taken a photo!
