Because the HVAC system was never completed--missing supply vents and lacking required system balancing--the warranty period never began to run. It was therefore incorrect to assert that our warranty expired and charge for the service call related to system performance issues. Third, we were surprised to receive a voicemail from Elm on February 25, 2026, stating that warranty work--specifically, the thermostat controller replacements--will not be performed unless we first pay the disputed service call invoice. Conditioning a manufacturer‑covered warranty replacement on an unrelated, contested charge is inconsistent with Elm's own contract and is not permissible. Warranty obligations must be honored independently of billing disputes. Finally, Elm threatened to send us to collections. Since the service fee is not properly owed, any attempt to send the matter to collections would be baseless and contrary to the terms of the contract. Elm air conditioning told us that we need new central air conditioning because they found freon leaks in our equipment. They gave us a quote & we got a one from another company. The other company gave us a much better price, higher seer, and a model that was rated higher. That company scheduled a replacement July 9. July 8, I noticed brown spots on the ceiling, but did not know what caused it. The next day, the new company came. Upon replacing the equipment in the attic, water came gushing down from the ceiling. The primary drain pan from the old unit was not working, and water was leaking from the secondary pan onto the ceiling and insulation. Elm did not tell us that we were in any imminent danger, or that the drain pan was not working. I paid Elm approximately $100. for their diagnosis, but there is a balance of $189. I now need to replace the ceiling, and had to throw out valuable items that the water damaged. I feel that Elm should pay me for the damage it caused by not telling me that that the drain pan was not working, they want me to pay $189!! read more

Had a contract with this company for a few years. At the year inspection, the technician advised that we had a leak and to call the office and schedule for someone to come and fix it. I called and was advised that someone would get back to me, instead I received an email with quotes for a whole new unit. I called back and advised that we did not want a new unit, the current one is fine, just want the leak fixed. Again, was told that we should purchase a new air handler and was given a quote. My husband called and the guy/manager Bill was a total asshole, very unprofessional and very rude!!! refused to send someone to fix it. When my husband told him that we would have another company come out and fix the leak, we would then send them the bill, he said that he wouldn't pay it. This is how you take care of your customers????? So basically you collect $400 dollars a year to renew a contract that does absolute crap!!!!!! Basically they rob their customers!!!! Hello, I have been a customer of Elm Air Conditioning for nearly 15-years. When it came to replace my air handlers and compressors the knowledgable technicians performed all of the work in just 2-days. I now have a service contract and the technicians check my air conditioning at the beginning of the season and change the air filters. I called for service last week and the technician responded within hours and changed a defective thermostat. To my surprise even the thermostat was covered under the service contract. I can't say enough about Elm Air. I have been with Elm for 6 years starting with the installation of our Mitsubishi ductless system. Recently I needed a cleaning and Brian did not disappoint. As a service tech, Brian was knowledgeable and fully explained everything he was doing and why. He was courteous and treated our home as if it was his own as he took care to protect furniture and clean up. In my experience, Elm made me feel like I was family. I didn't know at the time but 6 years ago Brian was the young man who installed my unit. He remembered and it was nice to feel a sense of familiarity. Went with Elm Air over 4 other bids because Scott Oest was so much more thorough in his initial walk thru pointing out items that needed correcting including the location of the outside power receptacle for the condenser as well as my village permit requirements. The other bidders chose to sidestep these requirements which would eventually cost me in the long run. He also included complete removal and takeaway. A totally fantastic experience from start to finish of a new HVAC system installation. The office staff (Cathy in particular) was wonderful in terms of being exceptionally efficient and on top of things, as well as very friendly. The installation team was great. They ran into some problems when they opened up a wall and needed several hours more than was planned without any complaint or cutting corners. We were told in advance that there might be a need for some wall repairs after the job (fixing sheetrock, spackling, painting), but the job was done in such a professional and careful manner that there is nothing there to touch up, let alone repair. Installed central a/c in my cape style home. The system works beautifully. I read stories of installations where homeowners' ceilings or walls cracked during a central a/c installation. I have plaster walls and ceilings and all are fine. The technicians measured and worked carefully and conscientiously. Competitors who in hindsight I think did not want to bother with the work of a central a/c install told me the air flow would be uneven and the system would not work properly. The system is quiet, air temp is even. The price was no more than ductless, which I felt was not a good option for my house. read more

A couple of warm days and we needed to flip on the CAC. When it didn't turn out I made a call to Elm who I had already scheduled Spring service for a later date. They fit me in for today and knowing the weather will eb getting warmer the quick appointment was a relief. Then Boris showed up and took charge right away. On Monday of this week, suddenly our Central Air system stopped working. I called Elm Air, who initially installed our system in 2021. I was given an appt for Wednesday morning. I emailed Scott for some assistance. He responded promptly to my email and sent a tech the next day by 1pm. Carlos was our tech, who is always very courteous and professional.
