Elmer's came highly recommended, but I was still impressed with the quality of the food. The portions were enormous; I ate until I hated myself, then I ate more because everything was incredible. I couldn't leave my fork alone! The crepes? Amazing. I wasn't expecting much from crab omelette (as Boise isn't exactly known for its plentiful beaches), but it had large chunks of crab meat and plentiful bacon. Amazing. I forget what the "enhanced" hash browns are called, but they should just be listed on the menu as "F***ing Amazing". I'm grateful I don't live in Boise, because I would make Elmer's my second home and eat myself into the cast of My 600 Pound Life, but I'll make it a point to have a meal at Elmer's every time I'm in Boise. read more

We were visiting Boise from Salt Lake City, Utah. Our hotel had free hot breakfast that was not that great, so on morning number two an online search directed me to Elmer's. Outside you could tell that they care about details. The inside had the old fashioned diner charm and the service was impeccable. They were almost too on top of refilling coffee and water. Very friendly staff. I had the German Pancake with fruit combo. Real thick cut bacon was a delight. Basic scrambled eggs cooked perfectly and the German Pancake was huge and delicious. I had the triple berry and they didn't skimp at all. My son, who normally hates breakfast cleaned his plate with the strawberry crepe combo. It was delicious. I wish there was an Elmer's in the Salt Lake Valley. read more

Delicious food. We all enjoyed our meals. The burgers juicy and buns fresh and the service was fabulous! The turnkey sandwich was really good too especially with cranberry sauce. My only complaint is the fries were obviously made from frozen potatoes rather than fresh and that I didn't expect from a locally owned restaurant in Idaho. We have eaten at Elmer's all over the Northwest and this Elmer's in Boise is not the same quality we are use to. Avoid it.

Great, friendly, fast service. The food was just ok, and the atmosphere was pretty bad. I guess I was expecting much tastier food based on the previous reviews, but I was disappointed. The hash browns were the highlight of both our meals, those were pretty good, and it was on the plus side that the food is not especially greasy, but the flavors of the meats, eggs, and biscuits are just not great. If you like iHop, Elmer's is the place for you. It's overpriced for the bland, freezer-defrosted food you get. Been here twice and left very disappointed both times. Also the waitresses grab the water cups/mugs at the rim when refilling. Gross. read more

Went there with some friends from a conference, and this place was delicious. While my own sandwich (Prime Rib Au Jus) and soup (clam chowder) were both quite good, I think next time I am going to go for one of those German pancakes -- it looked pretty amazing! Ok so the inside looks a early 90s bob newheart scene probably needs a renovation. But it does have a warm and friendly atmosphere. The breakfast menu is large offering something for everyone and offers healthy options. Service is fairly quick. It appears from what I can see that although they offer three meals a day, breakfast is their main specialty. I was pleasantly surprised to see the offered German style pancakes but did not order any. Overall the food was good. It was the equivalent of a meal at Denny's. I would say if you can't find a Denny's come here. read more

OMG! Stumbled onto this AMAZING restaurant while staying at the Marriott Residence Inn Boise! Had my 87 year old mother in law in a wheel chair, (no problem)! Although the place was packed, we were seated in minutes! Everyone of the employees were efficient, kind, and most important, they all looked happy to be working for Elmer's! Now, the food. AMAZBALLS! I had the "FRESH" Crab Louie. My mother in law had eggs and pancakes, husband had biscuits and gravy, and OMG our son had a to die for burger! I am salivating just writing about it! I wish I lived in Boise, I would hook it up as often as possible at Elmer's! Next time I drive through Boise, I am going to try the German Pancakes at Elmer's. They are the size of a plate with lemon, butter, powdered sugar. Kind of looks like a crape! MMMMMMMM! OH! The portions are huge! What a gem! My 7yo pushed his Cub Cakes away and sighed "I'm full." I replied, "hit the spot?" and he countered, "it hit 30 spots." hehe. That about sums it up. We got seated right away Sunday ~ 9 a.m. and had a seasoned waitress greet our "little leprechauns" (kids were wearing St. Patty's hats) and gently rested her hands on my husband's shoulder to get his order. Very comfy and casual. She kept our coffee mugs full but gave us the space to enjoy our meal. The kids menus look like a comic book, and having pictures helps the kiddos be more independent in their ordering. And there were a ton of games and pictures to color to keep them busy. Their pancakes were fluffy, eggs were cooked well, and the biscuits melted in your mouth. When my son wanted some of mine and I didn't want to share, she brought an extra one for him without charging us. Menu is well marked for their signature items and options for smaller portions, egg substitutes, etc. I had the Saturday market scramble and it was solid. Good value for price. Do not go here if you're in a hurry. I ordered something really simple and there were only 3 other people in the restaurant. It took 25 minutes to get my food, leaving me no time to eat. Went for breakfast yesterday with my elderly mother. The ac was very cold. My mother had to ask our server to reheat her omelette. My mother had to put on a sweater. It takes a lot to get me cold, but I was relieved to exit the building and feel the sunshine. Our meal and service were very good, but the ac needs tweaking. Obviously, you don't need it as cold in the AM as you do in the PM. read more

Your typical 60's and 70's restaurant. The food is very good. I had the "looking for the sun" omelet. They cook the hash browns on both sides just like you are supposed to. A little spendy but I would eat here again. On a side note they serve Pepsi products and no diet mt dew. read more

I am from out of state and based on the high yelp reviews thought this would be a good place for breakfast. I was mistaken. My boyfriend and I both got a variation of their eggs Benedict. His arrived cold. The hollandaise sauce lacked flavor and the hashbrowns are frozen, not fresh. Mine seemed a bit slimy from the oil they were cooked in. Needless to say we did not clear our plates.
