I shopped online for an I3. A different process for me. But after doing a lot of research on this all electric vehicle and finding the vehicle with the options I was interested in I found one at Elmhurst BMW. I live in WI but spent over 25 years in River Forest IL and was very familiar with the Elmhurst area. Many Fenwick connections. So based on info I was sent about financing and Sirius radio 1 year included and a fair but not great price point a according to Car Gurus I headed to Elmhurst. After settling on price, minimal change from internet price, guess what? They changed the financing claiming that my vehicle was not eligible. I had been pre-approved for credit with a credit score of 850. When I offered to leave and get my own financing, amazingly they came down over 2 points on the loan. Not what was promised but close enough. So we bought the car. We received the car with a minimal battery charge and 1.9 gallons of gas. ( don't worry about that, that's a full tank) , a key fob which did not work and after 3 hours at the dealer I had to wait another 2 hours to charge the car. The Sirius did not work and a piece of equipment, a cargo cover was missing from the car. This electric vehicle has many features that should have been explained. The car comes with a checklist. The technician showed me how to start the car and within five minutes was gone. No checklist. After getting home and discovering these issues I sent an email to the sales person. He sends a replacement fob battery. Hope it works or I'll have to return to the dealer. No answers to my other questions. A sales manager Nicholas reaches out and wants to hear how great my experience was. Sorry to disappoint but I expressed my issues. Somewhat defensive but he tells me no Sirius as promised. Not a year. 3 months only. He verified I was missing a part from my car. I asked to have it sent to Wisconsin. Agreed. But despite emails and in person assertions and documents sent to me with specific promises they will not keep their word. I know it's a small cost to me but I feel "slimed" after dealing with Elmhurst BMW. They know I won't be back for service so I guess it's a low risk. But I will be sharing my story with numerous River Forest, Elmhurst and Oak Park friends and acquaintances. Many own BMW's You'll see that the dealer reached out to me after my YELP post. Want to turn around my experience. Don't be fooled. He responds to all negative Yelp posts in a very similar manner I called and left two messages. Never received a call back. The manager was copied on all my emails trying to get dealer to honor "their word". He didn't intervene when he had the chance. His reach out is just as honest as the rest of the Elmhurst staff. Not. I was in touch with the salesperson, Diven, by phone several times after my visit, and he always made the same impression on me - professional, knowledgeable and courteous, going above and beyond the call of duty to educate, guide and support a prospective customer - whether he would buy a car from Elmhurst BMW today or years down the road. Somehow, Diven also managed to achieve all this while being very friendly and personable to boot. Bought my car through Eugene. All went well until I started calling out some issues and Eugene told me that they should still be under the warranty. So I took it to a local dealership. The car was out of its warranty... There was an open recall on the car since 2019, a bubble in the infotainment system, bad wiper blades, and the driver seat belt retractor was busted. STAY AWAY!!!! DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM HERE!!! I wish I read these reviews before I purchased a used vehicle from here. I warn everyone to go somewhere else. There are many car dealers out there and they want your business. SHADY, SNEAKY, LIARS, THIEVES, and IGNORANT are just a few words to come to my mind. I was told that the brake pads had 30% left on them. A week after I bought the car, I called my salesman, who was hard to get a hold of, and informed him I believe the rotors are warped and the brake pads need to be replaced. I am not a mechanic but have been driving for many many years, you know the grinding sound when rotors need to be replaced. The salesman dismissed me and told me they were checked. I called back a week later and he did not return my call. Well, well, well, it turns out that I was 100% right. Elmhurst BMW lied to me about all of this. I spoke with the extremely ignorant sales manager and he should NOT have that position. He does not know how to deal with people and basically hung up on me. WHAT?!?!?! Went in to pick up a new key fob for my 530i BMW that I had lost in a move. I was told it would be in in two to three days and would be called when it was in. After waiting over two weeks I called and found out it was in and should bring in the car to have it synched. Was greeted promptly and shown to the parts dept.. They then gave the fob to the service dept. to initialize it. The fob didn't have a key ring so I asked if I could have one. I was told " We only give those to people who buy cars not fobs" WOW. Sorry I didn't know only spending $500 didn't qualify me for a key ring. Way to treat customers and win their loyalty. I will be going to a different dealer in the future. Bought 2016 Lexus ES 350 from them couple weeks ago. Great experience at the dealer. However sales person never followed up with his promises. 1) Car came with only one remote so he told me he'll reach out to local Lexus dealer so I can purchase the second one at a dealer discount - this never happened 2) Car was missing a front license plate bracket so he told me he'll order one for me if he can't find it - this never happened. Recently visited to purchase a pre owned 2017 BMW X3. They add $700 to every used vehicle for nitrogen and LoJack! Would not negotiate these added products at all. We were never greeted by a sales manager and when I called to complain his response was "would it have made a difference if I came to talk to you?". My wife and I stopped by to look at a pre-owned BMW X5. We drove from Milwaukee. Spoke with a salesperson before we got there and had some email exchanges related to the condition of the interior and exterior. "It's got a small blemish in the interior" and "It's missing the tow hook cover, but we can get one". Sounded like pretty minor stuff, so I have them send pictures. Acceptable. Got to the dealership, after scheduling an appointment. We showed up on time, but had to wait 20 minutes and ended up getting handed to someone else. X5 showed up, keep in mind it's 2 years old and certified pre-owned. Holy smokes are these guys full of crap. There were scratches all over the truck and a big dent where it was bumped. Easily $1,500 of work to do on the paint and body. Price was too high, but we worked it down to an okay value. Two things that make these guys slime. 1. Tried to give me the old, "We just got a call and someone wants to put a deposit on it sight unseen". WOW, crazy huh? 2. "Get creative on the damage and file a claim with your insurance". WTF! These guys recommended insurance fraud. See you later you crooked bastards. read more

It was my fault that I came into the showroom the day after New Years. It is also my fault for looking for a very specific type and model car. Therefore Elmhurst BMW does not get 1 star because there were only two sales people on the floor, or that they didn't have what I was looking for. Elmhurst BMW gets 1 star because the salesperson didn't try and sell me a car. I had to beg him to give me the specs of a possible alternative vehicle, and for his card before I left. He never asked for my contact information, and not offer to do any followup work on my request. The final straw was when the salesman suggested shopping online would be my best bet. Regardless of the product - I go to stores as a consumer looking for service. Elmhurst BMW gets 1 star for poor service. read more

I went to this dealership four times for inspection right before my car (2018 BMW 750i) went out of warranty . However, right around 51,000 miles, and out of warranty , i started hearing a noise in the engine, and took it to Elmhurst BMW in January of 2022 to be told that the engine is shot and would need a new engine and pay almost 40k for an engine replacement. How is it possible a 4-year old car that barely passed 50, 000 miles needs an engine replacement? The car has never missed a service and all services were conducted at a BMW dealership! It is very disappointing to hear that BMW would only cover 10% of the cost given the facts surrounding this issue. I owned 4 BMWs in the past but NEVER AGAIN! read more

This was the dealer I used to make my purchase. It's a Jaguar/BMW division in Elmhurst. I actually just came in for a test drive and ended up making a purchase a few weeks later. The overall sales process here was very painless and accommodating, I felt that the dealership did a great job partnering with all channels of communication to deliver on my expectations in all areas (price of vehicle/trade in amount/and custom requests). If they are as great at maintaining their partnership after the purchase is made as during the sale, I would definitely conduct business with them again given the opportunity. This dealership has no communication between departments. Say you call the service department, and I use that term loosely as the service clearly stops at the once you walk in the door, you have to manage every aspect of your time there and coordinate it with the other one. Constantly reminding people why you are calling and what you need. My car has had numerous car issues, emailing them is like a foreign event to them. Broken water pump, broken transfer case, bought the car and 3 months later I needed to "purchase" the upgraded software for the engine to run correctly. You know when you buy an apple or computer, and there's a new software coming out, they give you a free upgrade into it, Elmhurst gives you a free upgrade for $1000, otherwise your car is worthless. I brought in my car 2 or 3 times to have it looked over for $120 or whatever it is, and not once did anyone tell me that my car's engine block had broken off of it's mount, 2 of the aluminum fasteners sheared off and the other two just weren't there. My engine was sitting or resting on parts and causing more damage. If you're looking for a good bmw mechanic, try craigslist. read more

Intimidation and lack of ethics. I'm a single woman that wanted to buy a car for the winter. I saw a used 2008 Jeep Wrangler for 11,900 X series on the internet. It was advertised at the Elmhurst BMW on Lake street. The car was priced right but, as soon as I left the dealership sensors started go on. Tuesday November 13, 2018 I was at the Elmhurst BMW with the salesman Eugene Royfe. I made a bad deal because I was intimidated by the prestige of the BMW reputation. I wasn't buying a BMW. I was buying a used Jeep with 133k miles on it. I was told that the Jeep wouldn't be on the lot if it didn't pass BMW inspection. It's a good car. I bought the car after 7 hours of negotiations. I drove the Jeep off the lot and 10 minutes down the road the tire pressure sensor went on. I emailed Eugene and told him what happened. I said I'd bring it back in on Thursday. (The Jeep sat at O'hare airport all day Wednesday) Thursday 11/15 I was there for three hours. The service department said the sensor was reset and it could be from the cold. So I left. I jumped on I355 and the check engine light went on. Then right after the tire pressure light goes on. I send another email to Eugene stating that the lights were on. I told him I will bring it in on Friday. Friday 11/16 I was at the dealership for another three hours. The feedback I got was that the Code P0430 came up. Something may be wrong with the Catalytic Converter. They reset my sensors and told me that it will be ok to take home. At this point I didn't feel safe to drive. I left the Jeep on the lot and made an appointment with the general manager Irv Shenderovsky. Side note: I am locked into a loan for approx $11,200. Put down $2000 cash, and traded my 2005 Buick which they only gave me $500. They also gave me $500 off the price of the car. Sat 11/17 I went to see the general manager. Irv Shenderovsky. He said that Nicholas Psaros, the internet sales manager, had given him a call the previous day and informed him that I was upset with the transaction. I told Irv that I would like my out of my loan for the Jeep, and walk away with $3000. (I had a 15 day warranty. There was mention that they would fix the problem but, Tuesday Thursday and Friday the service department cleared my sensors and told me it's good to go.) Irv proceeded to tell me that my Buick was already sold to a wholesaler. Then he said I had to pay for all the taxes and fees for the sale of the Jeep. In the end Irv's offer was approx $1200. They would buy back the Jeep and I will be out of my loan. I have to go back on Monday 11/19 at 9:15am to pick up my settlement check of approx $1200. I lost a car that was running well, I lost $500 from the sale of the car, I lost $500 from the reduced price of the Jeep, I lost $800 in taxes and fees, I lost 13 hours of my time at the dealership. Discovered a rather large hole (1" x 3" gash in my tire yesterday and called Elmhurst BMW to arrange a time to bring my car in. They were happy to schedule a service appointment....for 6 days later. When I questioned this it was explained that would be the first time they'd have a loaner available. Huh? But you're a car dealer. Aren't there a bunch of cars sitting around? Or better yet, it's a new tire. How about doing it quickly while I wait. Nope. Can't do that. I went to Laurel BMW in Westmont without an appointment and was out the door with my new tire in just over an hour. That's the difference between keeping and losing a customer. In all fairness, the sales experience a few years back was fine, but the service experience has never lived up to what I'd expect from BMW. The good news is that the run-flat tires work. Despite a hole that size the tire hadn't lost air pressure one day later. PS. I'm writing this review while waiting for my new Volvo XC60. It's good to be home. read more

Recently this was reinforced with a somewhat tricky problem I had. Suffice it to say that Elmhurst took a potentially poor situation and made it very positive. Nick in sales and Korey in service are both EXCEPTIONAL at customer service; not only did they resolve my problem to my full satisfaction but actually made the experience a net positive and gave me the sense that they truly cared about making sure we were happy and taken care of. BUYER BEWARE: I bought a 2013 528xi from this dealership in 2015. The car was pretty and had all the bells and whistles. All of the scheduled maintenance was done by Elmhurst BMW, so I thought all was well. Then, in February of this year, I was driving down I290, and the engine began to lose power. At that point I got a power train warning on the dashboard screen and I pulled the car off the road. When I finally got it to Elmhurst BMW, they told me that the car "needed a new engine", and the approximate cost of this work would be $15,000. Needless to say, I was in shock. This was the most expensive car I had ever purchased, and it was now completely incapacitated at less than 90K miles. Naturally, I thought that a company like BMW would stand behind their products and service, however, I was very very wrong my friends. I called BMW North America and they told me that, since the car was no longer covered by their warranty, the cost to replace the engine was on me. They mentioned a possible 15% discount on the labor, but that still would have set me back around $13,000. I finally gave up, and sold the, car I paid $38,000 for, back to Elmhurst BMW for $1500. I lost a whole lot of money, but I learned a huge lesson. I will never buy another BMW, and I will never visit Elmhurst BMW again. Live and learn. If you're in the market for a car, think long and hard before you decide to purchase a BMW from these guys. Unless you have money to burn, you are taking a huge risk. I've since purchased a 2016 Lexus ES350, and I absolutely love the car. It's a good quality reliable luxury sedan, and I hope to get at least 200K miles out of it before the engine blows up. My 2014 BMW X3 went in for an alternator replacement, while in service they failed to diagnose a loose timing belt, which was not noticeable at the time I dropped the car off, but was as I was pulling out of the repair shop. Was encouraged to spend $2,400 to replace the timing chain and oil pump by my service representative (over the expressed recommendation of the tech). After doing the repair the car it was determined that the engine was nocking and that I would have to spend another $12,000 to replace the engine. They refused to refund the original repair. I ended up purchasing a different car, but it took three weeks of negotiating with the dealership, service, and BMW to get down to a satisfactory price. And even though I was spending over $30K on a new car they still made me pay for a part that didn't fix the car. My salesman did good work and probably helped me negotiate through a bureaucratic nightmare, but it was only my persistence that made a price palatable. Overall my experience was a disappointment and one that I will not be repeating at Elmhurst BMW again. read more

Spent 20 minutes explaining again what I needed done and in more detail because I guess the web interface did not grab all the info or did not bring it into their system. -Was called later that day with an update that did not include half of what I came in for. -Spent another 10 minutes explaining again why I was there and what was missing (now for the third time). -next day called and said car was ready yet the main reasons I was there was not done. On Friday, June 18th 2021, I purchased a used 2018 Audi A3 from this dealership. The transaction went smoothly. There were a few items on the car that we agreed to do an 'I owe you' from the dealership. I took the car into an Audi dealership to fix these issues. The Audi dealership let me know that there was a recall for the passenger air bag for this vehicle. The recall does not have a repair for it at this time. This recall information was not disclosed to me during my buying process, in fact the auto report sent to me did not include any recall information. When I called the dealership voicing my concern they said there was nothing that they could do for me, and that I will have to take this up with Audi. I asked that they provide me a refund on the vehicle (two days after the sale) since this information was undisclosed and I was no longer able to use this car for ride sharing which was my intention. They refused and said the best thing they were able to do was offer me a buy back for $5,000 less than I bought it for two days prior. read more

BUYER BEWARE! The sales team is decent, but service department at this dealership is a complete SCAM. they seem to find reasons to charge you extra in service, which is where they make their money. I recently had to have my car brought in for service, and was given a loaner. I returned the loaner car in 4 days, having driven it twice (under .5 miles each time) and they found a "bubble" on a tire. there was no visible damage to the tire, but I was held responsible and had to pay $385 for a new tire for them. The service department is filled with rude people from top to bottom. I work near the dealership so everytime I need something done, I try to see if I can talk to someone on the phone who might be able to help me without being a jerk. Everytime, every call you will deal with someone who has no time for your problem. I drive to westmont to have my service done just to avoid these people. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE WITH DEALERSHIP I was so excited to drive from Milwaukee to Elmhurst (1 1?2 hours) to potentially buy a car that I had thoroughly checked out through their website and from contact with salesman Glen and their finance manager. The car appeared to have all I was looking for including Navigation...explicitly stated in the car description. Upon arrival, I quickly noted there was no Navigation... Salesman Glen stated that oh it probably just needs a SD card... Complete ignorance and lack of knowledge...An SD card does not provide Navigation. I said the car is completely misrepresented by the dealership and his response was that it was Audi's fault. Whose website carries the description?? I said we drove all the way for a car that they misrepresented and his response was to turn and walk away. What incredible disrespect. The GM Irv Shenderovsky sent an email saying that he hopes I had a positive car buying experience, etc. I sent him an email detailing my frustration. NO RESPONSE. What type of dealership is that.
