I've eaten at Elmisa in Rancho Bernardo and this location was definitely better. The food quality was great and prepared well. We got the hampeno sandwich and the hey honey burrata toast. The toast felt a little expensive at $13 but it came with a really generous portion of burrata so I was pleasantly surprised and felt like it was worth the price. The hampeno was very flavorful and the bread was toasted perfectly. Not too spicy. The service was friendly and I wasn't prompted to tip which was really nice! The interior is fresh and remodeled but honestly, I took away a star because all of the available seating was in disrepair or very uncomfortable for a group of three. There were a few booths but they were all taken up by single people on their computers and no food. They have a patio but there was nothing shaded. Please reconsider your interior furnishings to make it more inviting for people who are actually eating and not just on their computers. read more

Cute little place. My Mom and I were in the area visiting family and I was looking for healthier choices (than the typical big plate of pancakes, omelettes, etc). We shared the yummy prosciutto/fig avo toast and a breakfast sandwich. No complaints. I got her a hot chocolate, but it was barely room temp. My coconut latte was so so. The employees were pleasant. The only semi negative thing I have to say (and it's not really a bad thing), is that I had to go up and get someone's attention any time I wanted something ie: more napkins, salt & pepper, another set of utensils. But I also understand why a business doesn't leave that out - cost wise. I'd probably return here when I'm in the area again, and I shared this with my family as well. read more

So, Elmisa also has another location in Rancho Bernardo and I've always wanted to try it but I was so happy to find out when they opened the escondido location which was closer to me! The interior is modern, chic and clean and definitely a hidden gem for escondido! You can go up to the counter and order and they bring you your food. Seating is first come, first serve and they were quick. Friendly staff as well! They have a variety of healthy options to sweet options! So we got a little bit of both with a healthy breakfast bowl and a cinnamon roll sandwich! Love that they have collagen coffee too! They also have a little library and area supporting other small local businesses selling items! Definitely will be back with family! read more

NYC toast is good for breakfast. I love cream cheese in this restaurant. There are enough seats in addition patio seats. Some seats are for over 2 people (I'm sorry, I sat that seat by myself. I didn't realize that...) Friendly and kind staff help you. I believe that nice and stylish breakfast can make you feel better. read more

Food is your standard cafe food. The eggs taste like they are microwaved so if I go again, I'll be avoiding those sandwiches. But, the bagel itself was pretty good. Maybe just sticking to a bagel and cream cheese will be my next order. I got an iced coffee and I wouldn't say coffee is their thing. It definitely seems more of a bite to eat place. There was a wait, but the good thing is that your food isn't as premade as other places. Prices were pretty standard. They have a very calm environment with a number of tables and chairs. Some picture worthy items and a good place to go to just sit and relax with friends and family. I will give it another try soon. Maybe it was an off day for the coffee. :0) read more

Asked for a scrambled egg breakfast sand which got this instead. When I called they said they don't do scrambled eggs. When I order it on bagel scrambled there hasn't been a problem. No offer of correction for order mishap. Place does have great food just a bummer this happened. read more

Ok, I've been here for lunch and breakfast and while lunch was good... breakfast was really great! Get the breakfast club- you won't regret it. The latte was really well made as well. The people who work there are really friendly and attentive but don't bug you while you're eating. The atmosphere is nice as well, lots of lighting. We also got a turkey and apple sandwich with a hot roast beef sandwich. I had been to the RB location so I convinced the co-workers to give this location a try. We placed our orders to-go. Not only was the food amazing, but the customer service was over the top. The man that I assume was the manager accommodated our substitutions with a smile and kindly offered us a larger bag to carry the orders. All of this while the dine-in area was completely full. Delicious lunch I had the chicken pesto Panini called the rula and it was delicious! I've always enjoyed the one in Rancho Bernardo and I'm happy they've opened one in Escondido. It doesn't feel crowded inside, although, on the day we came, a couple of gentlemen carried a long conversation right in the middle of a table and booth which carried their voices to both, I'm sure, since we could hear them from the far end booth. Save yourself the headache -- this place is a nightmare for anyone hoping to do homework at a coffee shop (they say they are not a coffee shop when they treat it like one and students have tried doing hw here - doesn't works like that) I spent $20 just to be kicked out of my booth like some unwanted stray, while other solo customers sat undisturbed in theirs. There are only two outlets, and you'll be asked to move after sitting for a while -- even if others arrived after you. Came here on a Sunday morning but not very busy when we arrived. Our beeper buzzed for our first order, upon grabbing my food I noticed something was missing. After waiting to let the staff know they seemed very confused. While sitting down waiting for my missing food I was met with a bit of attitude from the server that I was wrong about which item was missing. Not a great first impression and did not appreciate that. The breakfast sandwich was great, the smoothie and avocado toast was just ok and the vegan muffin was drier than sand.
