You can enter it direct from the hotel lobby or via an exterior entrance close to the main hotel entrance. It features a large and beautiful dining room, stylish bar and ample seating outside to enjoy the outstanding Southern California weather. We had two breakfasts here. We ordered off the menu on day one and ate outside, and we ordered their Weekend buffet ($25) on day two and ate inside. Both breakfasts were made extra special by our wonderful server Digna. We were so lucky to enjoy her fun personality, engagement, and overall charm on both mornings. On Day One, I ordered something I had seen on menus for years, but never tried before. My Chilaquiles ($22) were" a savory bowl of Boraccho beans, queso fresco, avocado, eggs, red onion, bathed in a guajillo chile sauce". I thanked Digna who taught me how to pronounce it. I loved the taste- the sauce and the tortilla wedges, sliced avocado, and egg. What a feast. On Day Two I went with the buffet and went straight to the big pile of smoked salmon, red onion slices, chive cream cheese and mini bagels. The salmon was high quality thinly sliced, just the way we like it. The buffet also had everything you want in a buffet- hot dishes, pastries, yogurt, and fruit. The fruit was great-plenty of watermelon, assorted melons, and berries. I did find it odd that when I went to toast my bagel, I saw they only had one toaster with four slots. Unfortunately, the two left slots did not work, so restaurant patrons were lining up to toast their breads one at a time. I mentioned this to one of the staff, and his response was "Yeah, we know." Anyway, that indifferent reaction was more than counterbalanced by the fantastic food and Digna's 1,000-watt personality. And what's the origin of Digna's unique name? I asked her and she said her mother named her after a street in her home town. read more

We had a great bar experience and to-go dinner here. We were staying at the Hotel Solea next door and decided to call in an order to go for dinner and hangout at the bar while we waited. Overall, the drinks and the food were good! When we headed in, we just let them know we were there for a pick up and to sit at the bar while we waited. From the time we called it in from when the food arrived at the bar, it was about 30ish min. After sitting at the bar, it took quite a while to be acknowledged. There were 2 other customers at the bar and the bartender who was there was really only tending to them and drinks made from other tables, she looked at us but that's about it. Eventually another person came over and let us know they would be with us soon. He seemed like he may have been a little newer (or not in the bar part too often), but he was super nice and our drinks came out great! He was a joy! Once the food was ready, we closed everything out and headed back to our room. For food we got the brick chicken, the mac and cheese, and the artichoke hearts. The chicken was pretty good, I'm always worried roast chicken will be greasy but this wasn't too bad. The mac was the highlight for me, and the artichokes were pretty tasty. We had the All-American Breakfast with a side pancake (we could not substitute the toast for a pancake), Crab Benedict, Classic Benedict, Brioche French Toast and a side of bacon. The food came out fast and hot! I'm a sucker for hollandaise, so if you are too, be sure to ask for extra; I should have. My friends and I came here for Sunday brunch. The restaurant itself is very beautiful and we were seated in a quiet private area. We were a little disappointed that the lunch menu was not offered on a Sunday, so we settled for brunch. I ordered an omelette with poblano, mushroom, and spinach. The order came with a side of roasted potatoes and toast. I was pleased with my dish. The food quality was very good, but service was extremely slow. It took our server over 30 minutes to finally take our orders. We were a party of 8, which wasn't too big. Food for everyone came out at a decent time; however, they must've forgotten my dish because I had to wait a good 10 minutes while my friends already received their food. Our server Michael wasn't the nicest, and although we ordered food and drink straight away, it took forever- as in almost an hour from the time we arrived to get one appetizer!! Service was slow for breakfast but it could be just our table as I saw others were served much faster than us. For our food, we got the following: Portobello egg Benedict (4/5)- love that they have this option available for those who do not want English muffins/bread. The eggs were made to perfection and we really liked the flavor earthy of the mushroom and nice balance from the spinach. They could use a bit less oil though... the dish comes with roasted potato which wasn't bad but nothing to rave about. Lox & Bagel (1.5/5) - highly disappointed when the bagel came out. It was nicely assembled but that was it. It was served on a huge plate with just half a bagel and salmon (lox) and fixing on top. Nothing else. We appreciate the generous portion of the lọx but the bagel itself was terrible - my husband called it "hard as a rock" when he took his first bite. We had a hard time cutting it into smaller pieces to eat. It was barely toasted and the bread itself looks like it's undercooked and is extremely dense. I wish they serve it with some veggies on the side, for the meal balance and also the presentation. For our morning elixirs, my husband got the Green Monster (4/5) and I got the Kale-ifornia (5/5) Both are great drinks to start our day. I love my Kale-ifornia, earthy, clean and ends with a kick at the end with the gingery note after each sip. It has a juice consistency, while the Green Monster is more of a smoothie. Unfortunately Green Monster came out warm so that kind of killed the vibe and the taste. It would be 5/5 if it was cold. Also keep in mind they only offer coffee when we were there for breakfast, no latte or cappuccino. Ambiance was great. Went in on a Friday for happy hour and early dinner with my husband and toddler. Service was awesome. Cocktails and wine were a hit. Happy hour was only in the bar but the server still gave us the happy hour price. Food ..... was great until it wasn't. Charcuterie half board was great. Seasonal soup of the month was a hearty lentil and ham delicious. Harvest beet salad was also great (smaller portion size for the price, but tasted great). Toddlers chicken tenders and fruit were perfect. We shared all the appetizers.. perfect. Then our entree... we got the 16oz ribeye. It came with mashed potatoes and a demi-glaze over the steak. The steak looked larger than 16oz.. minimum 24oz.. it was huge. We cut into it, middle was still cold and raw, but the crust was super charred. Almost as if it was frozen then thawed quickly. We asked for it medium. They took it back and brought back the same steak. This time it was more charred because the demi- glaze was still on it when they put it back on the flat iron. It was still blue in the center. They graciously took it off the bill and offered something else. We opted for another drink and dessert to go.. Considering they dont have many options for entrees, I was a bit shocked they couldn't get the steak right, but let's face it, they're not a steak house. We ordered 2 steak and eggs plates, both steaks were well done and we ordered medium rare,couldn't find the waitress and we were in a crunch for time so they just ate it. Coffee was good, but we needed more cream and when the cream finally made it to the table, the coffee was cold. Breakfast potatoes were stale and tasted like they were cooked a few hours in advance. 2 stars for convenience and the waffle. The waffle was fresh and good. read more

Had a very nice lunch on 4/18 with our dog. It was very relaxing sitting out in the spacious patio, enjoying the beautiful Carlsbad weather. The restaurant is very nice and clean both inside and outside. We were greeted by a very friendly hostess, so great first impression. Henry was our server and he was amazing! Very professional, great sense of humor, and very attentive. Took great care of our dog too. Some other staff members came by and everyone was very nice. We ordered the crab cakes, spicy N'duja and shrimp rigatoni, and fresh catch tacos. Everything had good flavoring and the portions were more than reasonable. We also felt the prices were reasonable considering the location, quality of the food, high-level service, and beautiful relaxing ambiance. We eat out often but don't really leave reviews. We waited way too long at the front for someone to help us. The lady seating us was running around, seemed like they needed more help. She saw us multiple times and continued to rush and do other things/assist the tables. There was another party behind us and they were also wondering what was going on. We waited 10 minutes or so before someone greeted us and seated us. We also had a reservation. Food was good! Waiter was super nice but everyone seemed so busy. I wanted more coffee and water and it took forever to get anyone's attention. Overall good dining experience but not sure if they staffed for spring break weekend. My husband and I came here for Thanksgiving dinner. It was a three course pre-set menu. More than $100 per person. (I seem to remember it was $105 - $110). The food was unexceptional. Very small portions for all three courses. They even measured out our small amount of bread. My husband's soup had been laced with an inexplicably spicy oil making it inedible for him. In paying the bill my husband noticed they'd added on an 18% gratuity whether we were satisfied with the service or not. No mention of this fact was made to us. The ceviche is $25 and honestly it was one of the worst ceviche I've ever had. I mean, who puts banana chips in a Ceviche? It just doesn't go. And the salad was.... Eh. The dressing was terrible. This hotel restaurant is an absolute joke. First of all, it's the only restaurant at the hotel and somehow still has an extremely limited menu. Then comes what may have been the worst $30 burger I've ever had in my life, highly recommended by the waitress who later casually mentioned she's a vegetarian. If I ask "what's good here," I mean something you've actually eaten and can genuinely recommend, not a random suggestion off the menu. I don't know what is happening in Carlsbad, but this was where my nightmare with local burgers began. The chef genuinely does not know how to cook a burger. I ordered medium rare and got a dry, overcooked hockey puck that tasted like cardboard. When I sent it back, the replacement came out practically raw. Then the waitress claimed they "made a whole new patty," except somehow it was cut in the EXACT same way I had already cut into the first one before sending it back. Either they thought I was stupid or the kitchen was openly lying at that point. The fries tasted like old fries that had been sitting around and then re-fried before serving. Everything was aggressively oversalted. The crab cakes also came out suspiciously fast, and those were salty too. Nothing tasted fresh. Honestly the entire meal felt rushed, reheated, and poorly executed. The situation somehow got even more ridiculous when I tried giving a small piece to my dog, who would not even eat it. That should tell you everything you need to know. Then the waitress tried charging me an extra $12 for the replacement patty because I mentioned my dog tried some of it. Thankfully they finally removed it after we pointed out that THEY offered to remake the burger because the original one was completely inedible. I honestly do not understand how this place has decent reviews unless people visiting Legoland have completely lost their taste buds or everyone in Carlsbad has simply accepted terrible food as normal. Between the awful food, questionable service, stale fries, oversalted dishes, and absurd pricing, this was one of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had. There was a group of 10 of us, and the restaurant was able to accomodate. 20|Twenty has awards for: - OpenTable Diners' Choice in 2023 - Best of North County (Coastal Eatery in Carlsbad, CA) According to their website, they are "Globally Inspired, Locally Sourced". Their menu is focused on simple dishes and local ingredients. Redefining Southern California Classics with a Global Perspective and Modern Flair. Google notes that they are focused on Eclectic Northern Spanish entrees. I tried the following: - Mezcal Old Fashionedn (only Mezcal as I am not friends with Tequila) - Zucchini Carpaccio - Charcuterie Board (for table to share) - Pork Osso Bucco Cocktail and Food were delicious. If the restaurant was packed, I think we could have understood the slow service, but the place was nearly empty. We saw maybe 4 other groups besides us and all but 1 group was there before we arrived. We ordered a salmon and a chicken dish. The salmon was under seasoned and the chicken was very salty. Wife had one glass of wine and the bill was $80. had the food come out in a reasonable amount of time, I feel like this would have been an improved experience. But it took forever with zero apologies or check ins to say "food will be right out" OR "sorry for the delay as the kitchen is backed up"... nothing. After waiting for so long and the disappointing quality of the meal, we both looked at one another and said "we should have just ordered food from ubereats" Definitely an overpriced hotel restaurant that lacks quality across the board. We went here for thanksgiving dinner, with a set menu. The restaurant was very busy, but the waitstaff remained calm and helpful and didn't seem in a hurry. This restaurant is inside of a hotel, and is very modern and bright. It has a casual feel to it. I was told they do this every year while I was there, and I think I would go here again if I needed somewhere to go for the same holiday. It's a nice alternative to cooking at home.
