Went to lunch at Ember & Rye with some girlfriends, and we had a great experience. The restaurant is aesthetically beautiful and surrounded by a gorgeous golf course. We sat outside, which offered the perfect balance of sunshine and shade. Our waiter was incredibly friendly and provided outstanding service from start to finish. The steaks were cooked perfectly and were absolutely delicious. One thing to note: if you order the Steak Frites for lunch, it may not be what you expect. Instead of traditional French fries, the "frites" are crispy sweet potato curls served on top of the steak. The steak itself was fantastic, but just an FYI. Overall, great food, excellent service, and a beautiful setting. I'd definitely return!

The food was really good. By far one of the best filet mignons I've had, this one was memorable. Every piece was on point. The potatoes were lowkey the star of the show, a must order if you're here. No idea how they make it but it's gas. They also served garlic croissants and sourdough bread with butter which was nice. The views are solid, reminded me of back bay in Newport Beach but better. The staff were very friendly. Definitely worth checking out.

I was honestly surprised by how much we loved Ember & Rye. We came here to celebrate two birthdays and didn't have particularly high expectations, but everything we ordered was delicious. The sherry-glazed mushrooms were easily my favorite dish, alongside the perfect New York steak. Even dessert was incredible and ended the meal on a high note. The ambiance was beautiful, and our server, Alex, was super friendly and gave attentive service throughout the night. Such a great experience from start to finish, so we'll definitely be back!

Late post - review from my 2025 holiday trip- We enjoyed the bar, friendly service, elegant view, and delicious handcrafted cocktails. I enjoyed their creation of the Manhattan very much. When we moved to the dining room for dinner, the experience dropped to a-meh First, we got the ONLY table in the room without any view, it was next to the wall and a pillar. I guess it is good for first date, as you can only look at each other ;) The server recommended the chef's special cut- Manhattan cut-, and we took his suggestion. It was a bad decision; the cut had a thick, tender middle, and I also choked on it. It was over-seasoned too, quite salty. When we shared the feedback with the server, he said he would let the chef know, but did not offer any other practical options. The famous buttery croissant was delicious, the dessert was standard. Nothing wow in the dining room. I would recommend staying at the bar for dinner!

Impressed by another Richard Blais restaurant! Ember and Rye is on the property for Park Hyatt Aviara in Carlsbad but has its own separate entrance which was easy to find. There is a large complimentary parking lot right in front of the restaurant. The ambiance inside was beautiful, modern, and clean. Reservations were very easy online. If the weather permits, I highly recommend sitting outside in their wrap around patio to enjoy the lagoon and gold course views. The food was delicious. We opted for the lunch pri fixe menu which included one salad, entree, and dessert. My daughter enjoyed her burger and fries. The portions were filling. The food was fresh and tasty. We ate it all! Service was overall great. All our servers were friendly and professional. We felt welcomed by the hostess upon arrival. Service was a bit lacking towards the end and we had to flag someone down for our dessert and check. All in all, we would definitely return and hopefully see Chef Blais!

I admittedly didn't know this was Richard Blaise's concept when my boss said we were going there. It's a lovely restaurant, very coastal chic vibe. The staff was immensely kind though they did sweep my drink away before I had half finished it. The food was good, we had several appetizers including the wagyu skewers, jalapeño croquettes, and bahn mi meatballs. The meatballs were my favorite second only to the incredible garlic croissants. Now those were the highlight. I ordered the Wagyu burger and found they cooked it under. I ordered a medium and it was medium rare. The ketchup had truffle in it which I could've done without, though I'm glad it wasn't on the fries which were exceptionally good. The burger also was packed with flavor and it hit on every level. It was a great dining experience and enjoyable evening

My first time attending Restaurant Week and this was a great choice. It is located near a golf course, so parking was a bit of a challenge, but they had some spots across the street that weren't too far of a walk. The restaurant status on the patio and we had a great view and the weather was perfect. They had a menu that I thought was just for Restaurant Week, but I was told that is actually one they keep your round. It was a really great deal as it included three courses for $39. There were several of us so we got a few dishes to try. The calamari was good and lightly breaded, not too heavy or over fried. I got the bucatini pasta which I thought tasted very fresh and flavorful. Also tried the salmon which was delicious and had lots of flavor to it as well, it was cooked just right. For dessert I decided to get the s'mores cake, and I was happy I did. It had a toasted meringue on top, and a chocolate sauce. Everyone agreed that it was amazing. I also tried the lemon curd yuzu pot, which I really enjoyed because I love lemon. It was light and not too thick or overly sweet, but it had that nice tangy flavor from the lemon curd. I would definitely go back to this restaurant, even though it's a little bit out of the way for me. The service was excellent, and I appreciate the recommendations and explanations of the menu. This is a great spot to have a nice lunch with friends, or even as a couple.

First off, I want to start by saying the service was AMAZING!! Johnny & Jenna were our servers and they were so friendly, attentive, and professional. The food was also really good, my favorite was the banh mi meatballs (not pictured) and my husband's favorite was the rigatoni bolognese. When my husband reserved it through Open Table, he put that it was our anniversary. The staff surprised us with an anniversary dessert! Many staff members told us happy anniversary which was really sweet. Even the manager came out to tell us. Overall the food was good, but I think the service was the best part!

Wow. Listen, I didn't know what to expect from a golf-themed restaurant, but Ember and Rye completely swept me off my feet. The view alone is worth the drive, and then the food and wine list walked in and just floored me. The service was genuinely wonderful, warm, attentive, all of it. And the seafood tower? I'm not even exaggerating when I tell you I have never in my life seen shrimp that big. I was shooketh. A couple in our group who got the steak felt it was just okay, but my veal dish was absolutely incredible. This is the kind of place you go for a date night or to celebrate something that deserves a really beautiful evening. Highly recommend!

Before our steak arrived we were able to choose a steak knife from this magnetic board.

We took the shuttle from the Aviara to dinner at the Ember and Rye. Since it was a lovely evening we sat outside and they had heaters if you felt chilly. We had excellent service from Louis and Clare for our dinner. The menu was creative, the Thai chicory salad was flavorful with a bit of a kick. The garlic croissant was warm a flaky. The mains were cooked to perfection and delicious. We enjoyed our meal and would recommend it to you!

This steakhouse is located in the Aviara golf course's clubhouse. It has ample indoor dining space and an outdoor balcony with views of the 18th hole green. This is a high-end steakhouse by the same chef as Juniper and Ivy and other notable restaurants. Stand out appetizers were the squash blossom lettuce wraps and tuna tostada. Hard to go wrong with the tuna, and this was a unique take on lettuce wraps that I've never seen before. For entrées, between the bone in swordfish steak, ribeye steak and lamb chops, the swordfish was the best. The swordfish bone-in steak is large and comes blackened with good flavors. The ribeye and lamb chops were high-quality cuts of meat, but lacked a crust that I might expect at a high-end steakhouse. For sides the brussels sprouts were very flavorful and crispy. The carrots are heavily seasoned and no ordinary carrot. For dessert, the lemon uzu has a strong lemon flavor that bursts in your mouth, yum! Service was excellent and caring. A great place to splurge after golf or for a special occasion.

Food was fantastic loved everything we had, grilled chicken wings, wedge salad, burger and fries, steak and dessert. The interior of the restaurant was beautifully designed, great views from every table, service was great! Will definitely go again!

Pear and beet salad.I will try to recreate this at home. So good.
    Lauren L.

The food, the ambiance and the service was all excellent! We booked a late lunch so we could let one of our party finish a round on the Aviara course. We were one of the last parties seated and they didn't rush us out. The servers were so attentive and full of conversation. Would definitely return.

Ask the Community - Ember & Rye

What is the parking situation if we're not staying at the Hyatt?

I was not staying at the hotel either when I visited for breakfast. They have a large parking lot to do free self parking, which is what we chose to do, or you can also do valet right at the front door. Parking here is really easy.

    Is there a happy hour?

They have a "between the clubs" menu (2-5:30pm) with some specials in the bar area - I like the burger, fries and a beer for a discounted price

    Is there a dress code?

There is no dress code. Semi - casual.

    Do they have happy hour?

Dear Pamela, Ember and Rye does not have a dedicated happy hour. However, we hope to welcome you for specialty cocktails and our delicious snack bar bites!

Is it appropriate to bring children? Is there a kids' menu?

Yes, we brought our 5y/o and 6y/o and my SIL brought her 1y/o. They had kids menus, and a high chair for my nephew. It is a high end restaurant, but I never felt like we were out of place having our kids with us, and all the staff was helpful and…

    What is their corkage fee?

I think it was around 30 dollars

Absolutely delectable, moist and flavorful with every bite. * Prawn - ember roasted, prickly pear, mezcal, candied habanero. Literally so good, fresh and full of flavor. * Tomato - smoked blue cheese, piquillo pepper, meyer lemon, opal basil. Very fresh and great for summertime but nothing you can't make at home if I'm being honest. * Broccoli - chermoula, lime, peanut. This was unbelievably amazing and not your typical broccoli. I'm sure even those who don't like broccoli would enjoy this. * Crudo yellowfin - aji amarillo, charred avocado, guava. Omg, I loved this and could have eaten the entire plate by myself. The aji was just enough without being overpowering. * Pork belly smoked - stinging nettle, snap pea, wasabi. Once again, another amazing dish. It had that melt in your mouth kind of texture and was so smooth but not spicy. * Octopus - smoked celery root, spanish chorizo, basil chimichurri. Really amazing & tender + it was recommended from our server since "you can't just get good octopus anywhere" and I 100% agree! They have a fairly extensive drink menu as well with lots of delicious options. I will say their espresso martini is especially pleasant and isn't too sweet. Good. A bit dry. The butter was not quite strong enough. Could have done with a bit of honey or something on it. Something a bit thicker. Still above average. - Crudo - amazing. Just simply amazing. We loved everything about it. The guava taste was unique and the sauce was thick enough to not be overpowered by the yellowtail. - Ribeye - Good, but nothing special. The charred outside had a since flavor. The chimichurri hit the spot. - Potato side for the ribeye didn't show up even though we ordered it. - Cheesecake was solid. Food was above average but not WOW except for the crudo. The service needs work. Server did not put in our potato side dish so it didn't come in time for the meal. Drinks were not refilled on time. We sometimes couldn't find a server to help us when we needed little things. Then when we did manage to run one down it took forever to get something. Overall, this place is a cool concept. We have been fortunate enough to visit exceptional restaurants in several countries, including throughout Europe, as well as renowned five-star restaurants in Mexico. However, the service we received last night deserves special recognition. Our server, Brian O'Malley, executed every stage of service with a level of excellence that is difficult to find today. His attention was impeccable, professional, warm, and perfectly coordinated. He was always present at exactly the right moment without ever being intrusive, carefully attending to every detail and making us feel genuinely well cared for. The quality of the food was extraordinary, but Brian's hospitality elevated the entire experience to another level. At a time when people often speak only about the establishments themselves, I believe it is equally important to recognize the individuals who make it possible for an evening to become an unforgettable memory. Thank you, Brian, for demonstrating that true service is not simply about bringing a dish to the table, but about making the people seated at that table feel truly special. The drink menu is great. Lots of tequila and mezcal cocktails, which are personal favorites. Really liked Tangerine You're My Sex Machine. For food, we basically ordered a massive spread of it all. Standouts were the yelllowtail ceviche--creamy & coconuty!--and all the steak dishes. Looking forward to more visits in the future. Vibes & ambiance are fun too.

Places like the restaurant below were closing when their times were supposed to be open still. Kitty and Nate were awesome with their customer service! Super nice and accommodating, even when the food was a little too spicy for my mom. There were things like the drinks they made differently to accommodate for what we were looking for. Love the ambiance and the food was great. Whoever commented on having a midlife crisis, karmas going to kick your ass when you are that age. At least the owner has something going for themselves & has been really creative in the whole experience.

Whether it's a business dinner, a friend visiting, happy hour, date night, or simply stopping in for a nightcap, they always deliver. It's such a warm and welcoming place. Huge kudos to their entire team, who never cease to amaze me with how genuinely great they are at hospitality. We've dined here 20+ times, and not once have we questioned the service. When we bring guests, they make us feel so proud to have such a gem right in our neighborhood. And don't even get me started on the food. Of course, the steaks are fantastic, but their appetizers and other entrées are just as worthy of attention. We've tried pretty much every non-steak item on the menu, and we've never been disappointed. The lobster is a particular favorite of ours--so fresh, juicy, and perfectly cooked. I love that they even shell it for us and put it back together, making it so much easier to enjoy without the mess. Our usual favorites are the hamachi crudo, Parker rolls, lobster, and truffle creamed spinach. Those are the dishes we find ourselves ordering again and again. And the bartenders deserve a special shoutout too. They're always so polite, friendly, and welcoming. We actually love sitting at the bar--not only for the food and drinks, but for the people-watching and the occasional conversation with the bartenders. It adds another layer to the whole experience. After 20+ visits, I think that says something. There are plenty of great restaurants, but the ones that make you feel like a regular, take care of your guests, and consistently make you want to come back are truly special. Rare Society is one of those places. We're pretty lucky to have this gem in our neighborhood.

Despite so many glowing reviews, I feel obligated to share the positive and negative here…read more Positive: We made a reservation for happy hour for three people. It was honored on time. Negative: On arrival we were told we could only be seated at the bar itself (full) or at high tops outside in 90 degree weather. This is the first time we've ever been relegated as happy hour guests. We did nicely request a table inside which we got, but were told the happy hour menu was not available to us. Restaurant at 5pm was nearly empty. Positive: Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and was patient as we took a bit to decide what to have. Negative: There was a lot of "have you decided yet?" returns. Clearly he'd wanted to turn the table. Positive: The food was very well prepared. Filet mignon was tender and flavorful (though I doubt it was a full portion and two of us had to share it). Negative: Everything is à la carte, and mains - like our steak - were served on completely bare plates. Not even a garnish for presentation. Lamb chop "lollipops" served in a bowl. Just tacky. The side of creamed spinach was more cream than spinach, and for a side billed as a sharing portion it was small. Positive: Once our meal started we were not rushed. Atmosphere is a bit dark but fine for this kind of steakhouse. The crème brûlée was lovely... Sorry, no desire to return to this pricey spot.

She greeted us with a big smile and checked us in our reservation. We were seated in the outside patio overlooking the beach. It was a beautiful view. The server came to greet us right away. He ask what we wanted to drink and afterwards told us the special menu for the night. First we started with the appetizers. We had the Fritto di Calamari e gamberretti and the Carpaccio di manzo. The calamari and rock shrimp were soft and crunchy. The batter was flavorful but subtle and the marinara sauce tied it altogether. We loved the filet mignon carpaccio. It was tender and rich. The cheese, capers and arugula provided a great balance to this dish. For our entree, we had the spaghetti portofino, Pappardelle con funghi e Capesente and Cappellaci di Manzo. When our food came we could not believe how huge their portions are. One entree is equal to 2 entrees and it makes sense because the price is up there. The Portofino, had huge amount variety of seafood and the scallop and jumbo prawn stood out which was placed on top of the dish. Wish they did have more spaghetti, but we were happy with it. All the seafood was cooked perfectly. Soft and tender and the pesto sauce was more like a little bit of marinara and pesto. The Parpadelle was cooked with just the right texture and the different types mushroom had full of Umami flavors. You can tell they make their own pasta. The 2 huge scallops in the sides were cooked just right, tender and just delicious! This was to die for. The Carpellaci was amazing!!! The hat-pasta was full of braised prime short rib and the porcini cream sauce with aged asiago and black truffles really excelled this dish. The sauce was creamy and just bursting with great flavors. All of these dishes were outstanding!!! Ofcourse none of us finished our entree. We were stuffed half way. We were not disappointed!!! We had plenty of leftovers. Also the bus boy and the servers really took care of us. Our water was always filled up. At the end they served my hubby with a birthday cannoli with a candle. We all got a taste of his birthday dessert and wow this cannoli is fantastic. It's a great way to end the evening! If you're heading to Carlsbad, this place is a wonderful restaurant to spend a special occasion or a celebration to the end of your vacation.

Great Spot for Drinks, But Pricey…read more We didn't actually have a meal at 20|Twenty, so I can't really comment on the food, but we did stop in for drinks and enjoyed the atmosphere. It's a beautiful, comfortable place to sit, relax, and have a drink, and the service was good. The one disappointment was the coffee. For a restaurant at this level--and at these prices--I expected the coffee to be much better. Overall, everything is definitely on the expensive side, which is somewhat expected at a resort, but you definitely notice it. One funny thing we noticed: the sign above the door appears to be backwards and reads "Twenty|20" instead of "20|Twenty." It's a small detail, but once you notice it, you can't really unsee it! Overall, we enjoyed our time here and would give it four stars based on the atmosphere, drinks, and service. I'd come back for cocktails, but probably look elsewhere for my morning coffee.

You can enter it direct from the hotel lobby or via an exterior entrance close to the main hotel entrance. It features a large and beautiful dining room, stylish bar and ample seating outside to enjoy the outstanding Southern California weather. We had two breakfasts here. We ordered off the menu on day one and ate outside, and we ordered their Weekend buffet ($25) on day two and ate inside. Both breakfasts were made extra special by our wonderful server Digna. We were so lucky to enjoy her fun personality, engagement, and overall charm on both mornings. On Day One, I ordered something I had seen on menus for years, but never tried before. My Chilaquiles ($22) were" a savory bowl of Boraccho beans, queso fresco, avocado, eggs, red onion, bathed in a guajillo chile sauce". I thanked Digna who taught me how to pronounce it. I loved the taste- the sauce and the tortilla wedges, sliced avocado, and egg. What a feast. On Day Two I went with the buffet and went straight to the big pile of smoked salmon, red onion slices, chive cream cheese and mini bagels. The salmon was high quality thinly sliced, just the way we like it. The buffet also had everything you want in a buffet- hot dishes, pastries, yogurt, and fruit. The fruit was great-plenty of watermelon, assorted melons, and berries. I did find it odd that when I went to toast my bagel, I saw they only had one toaster with four slots. Unfortunately, the two left slots did not work, so restaurant patrons were lining up to toast their breads one at a time. I mentioned this to one of the staff, and his response was "Yeah, we know." Anyway, that indifferent reaction was more than counterbalanced by the fantastic food and Digna's 1,000-watt personality. And what's the origin of Digna's unique name? I asked her and she said her mother named her after a street in her home town.
