Got a recommendation from Yelp to try this new kbbq spot in Elk Grove. Glad we took the drive from Stockton for lunch on a Tuesday about 12pm. We got there and there was no wait. I'm guessing because it's still a soft opening and not too many have heard about it yet. The place is nice and big. We had the option of doing lunch or dinner. (Dinner has more options) Crystal helped us out and gave us some really good recommendations on what we should try, being that it was our first time. She was also nice enough to get my boyfriend a few samples of their special beers so he can try to see what he would like. Customer service was phenomenal. Also, Shoutout to our waiter Michael. He was attentive and made our experience a great one. It doesn't stop there. Food started coming out and we had soooo much. The quality of meat was impressive. The portions are huge. Flavors were spot on. Our favorites from today's trip were vegetable jeon, potstickers, La galbi, brisket, And the house meat sauce. We got full so fast we will definitely be back to try more. Highly recommend this place. We went here later in the evening since we wanted kbbq and it was a few miles away from where we were at. The menu didn't have as much choices compared to other kbbq but sometimes less is more. The quality of the meat definitely made up for the menu. We were busy eating and drinking soju bombs that we forgot to take pictures of the food. The service was really good and our server came to take our order when he saw that we were finishing up our last two plates. I heard a lot of good things about Ember and wanted to try it out! I think because it's still their soft opening, the menu seemed a bit small to me. They have a pretty solid selection ranging from appetizers, soups, condiments, beef, pork, chicken, and seafood. We ordered a bit of everything by ordering half orders, which the staff was very nice about. We had a couple different staff help us, from taking orders, serving, changing grill, and some to just check how we were doing. The staff were amazing and super kind! Everyone seemed very polite and positive and our server also gave us some honest and solid recommendations. The restaurant itself is HUGE. I really liked that they had the vent to suction all the smoke! The place is very spacious and clean; their bathroom is also super aesthetic and clean. Overall I thought their meat was pretty good, I did think some of the meats tasted a bit tough, but I'm not too sure if it was the cut or just the quality. I'd definitely recommend their cold noodle, corn cheese, saeng galbi, beef shoulder, and pork jowl! Will definitely be coming back again in the future :) read more

Had so much fun here with friends! Definitely one of Elk Grove's top KBBQ spots. They have such a variety of things to choose from the menu, like the cold noodles and spicy rice cakes. Banchan they gave us was yummy and the meat selection was great! I didn't steer away from the beef section though. Good service, always consistent with the grill changes and they're quick to take down your next order. Everything was pretty standard for Korean bbq. I loved how you could order sauces directly off the menu and how the menu was very straightforward and easy to understand. Plus "free" dessert included is always nice. The vibe was very cool too, was more spacious than the outside led on and the seats were decently comfortable. Giving 3 stars though because we must have gotten unlucky with the service that night. Some food took longer than usual and the waiter seemingly kept forgetting about us. He even turned off the grill before we got our last entree so we had to bother someone else to light our fire again since our waiter was nowhere to be seen. From this experience I'd probably just choose the other KBBQ spots in Elk Grove over this one, maybe I'll come back and see if the service is a little better, or maybe not. read more

4.5 Stars. Typically when going to KBBQ AYCE, it's with a group so for me the experience with friends and family just makes food better as long as everyone is together and happy! Ember has a good selection of meats and appetizers to offer but not many of the meats are pre-marinated so they offer sauces on their menu. Service was excellent even on a Friday night. They have no problem of changing out the cooking surface as many times you ask. They do have a two hour limit (for placing food order, but they don't kick you out if you're still eating). Oh, they offer little ice cream cups for dessert too. I love Korean BBQ and will try every KBBQ place in town, therefore when i found out Ember KBBQ was opening, it was the next spot on my list to go to. Came here on a Tuesday during lunch and got seated right away. There were only about 3 tables that were filled. I ate mainly the beef items on the list and my favorite one was the beef brisket as i am just a simple person. All the other meats were ok and most of the marinated meats were too sweet to my liking. I liked the fact that the lettuce came with the meal instead of costing extra like the other KBBQ spots in town. The tofu soup was a bit off to me as it didnt taste like the usual tofu soup. The friend veggie pancake was very soggy. The banchan could be a bit better and didnt taste very fresh. The service was superb as every empty plate was taken right away, and our grill was changed multiple times. Not to mention, our server was super friendly and patient. Been here a few times since May. We had my partner's dinner birthday here a couple weeks ago with about 20 people and everything went smoothly. They were able to split checks the way we needed to. I usually like plain non marinated meat with just sesame oil but their bulgogi and other marinated meats they offer here are really good. I really liked the rib fingers and marinated beef belly. They have a variety of appetizers traditional like steamed egg and tofu soup and non traditional like fries. They also offer either sorbet or a melona at the end of the meal. For my first time trying a random Korean bbq the Food is actually better than a lot of Korean bbq places in the Sacramento. The flavors of the meats without marinade are top tier when you sink your teeth in it. The sides are pretty flavorful as well. It's just some of them aren't as d as I'm used too. Like the kimchi and pickled cucumbers. But it's being a little warmer is ok with me because it made up in flavors. The workers are super friendly and helpful and them having such great customer service made me really enjoy my time being there as well. So friendly! The meat tasted fresh, wasn't over seasoned which we appreciated because some places try to hide old meat with a bucket of marinade lol So we went for lunch. I popped inside while the rest of my party was gathering to gauge the wait. They didn't have a wait and the host was kind in telling me they'd get the table ready while my family and I got together. Sure enough, when I came back in together with my party, the table was set and ready with banchan nicely set out for us. Stellar service from the onset. It's nicely spacious inside, each table seemed to have its own vents for the bbq grills. The ambiance was nice and open, some places you feel sardined in but this place you feel like you can breathe. Onto the food, it's $27 per person for weekday lunch, then $37 for dinner and weekend lunch. They color coded the menu between appetizers and meats, allowing you to choose 3 from each color. While we were only there for weekday lunch, there's a symbol next to the items that are additional for dinner (that you can also choose during weekday lunch but you'll need to pay $37), I didn't feel limited at all. There were still plenty of options. For the appetizers, my mom really enjoyed the soybean tofu soup, I really enjoyed the spicy (mala?) tofu soup. They were delicious. All the meat we ordered came out looking and tasting fresh, I feel like you can't go wrong. There's a bunch of sauce options + you can get lettuce wrap without an additional charge. I really want to love this new kbbq since I live so close, but this place needs some work. First off, the menu lacks some choices. For 37$pp, you would think their would be a lot more meat and seafood. There is no sauce bar, fruit, or deserts. Literally nothing to help with digestion after a heavy meal. Some of the banchons are hit, but most are miss. Kimchi and the pickled daikon were great, but the fish cakes and cucumber kimchi were just weird tasting. Service was great, and they were very attentive. But it could be because it wasn't busy at all. I hope the owner will do something about the menu items and add some fruits for their patron to eat after their meal. I would probably give it another try in a few months and will update this review again. read more

We've been to Ember about 6-7 within the last year and we will to come back. I love the space between each seats as it's not super crowded. The staff here are really good and attentive. We normally go for LA Gabli, pork jowl, small intestines, bulgogi. All very flavorful and satisfies our craving for KBBQ. This is probably the best KBBQ in Elk Grove. I tried this out during its soft opening period and really enjoyed myself. The staff greeted us and the wait wasn't atrocious, even though it was pretty busy. The ambiance is pretty loud but the food was awesome. Our server checked on us frequently. I thought the meats were great quality, but felt that the price was a little steep ($37 for dinner and $27 for lunch). I wish we were given two tongs as both my husband and I share the cooking duties. I also think the tongs were huge and could benefit from the smaller, more petite tongs in order to properly turn the meats. One more thing: the floors were still a bit dirty from those who sat at our table previously and could have used a quick sweep. I know they're still soft opening so I am hopeful they'll get this right. We'll come back, but probably for the lunch price. read more
