No food here, just adult beverages. That was fine by me, because I was looking to sip on a local Michigan beer while I waited for my Delta flight. There's lots of seating, either at the bar or at four-person tables, or at other bar-height tables that have changing outlets. There are floor to ceiling widows everywhere, so there is lots of natural light in this area. Nice for parents: There's a little play area just steps from this lounge. So you can enjoy a drink and your kids can play. I got a Founders beer on tap, which is local to Michigan. They also have seven or eight other beers on draught, as well as wine and cocktails. Waited 35 minutes for my food and never received it a when I went to ask for a refund the bartender was never there, ended up having to leave for my flight without a refund or food. I'm sure it's fine if you have hours to burn but don't expect service that is actually useful if you have less than an hour between flights. Very disappointing experience with the server. I came to the bar at 5:30 on September 24, 2025. I didn't see a server but the bar was crowded. I finally got a seat and grabbed a menu. After helping other people, she finally came to me with my menu open. I said I just want water but I am going to order food. She proceeded to help other people and clean tables and everything else. Horrible waitress with an attitude, she disappeared for half an hour with her small bag to the restroom, came back with an attitude and took it out on customers. She was yelling thru the phone at a co worker that was stuck in the parking lot and perhaps late to release her from her shift. She called the police on patrons at the bar that were forced to help themselves while she spent 20-30 min in restroom with her pouch/satchel. I think they need a replacement staff person! Caused an unnecessary scene for her own disappearance with her satchel for a prolonged period of time. No one could pay and leave nor order a second beer. Decent place to kill 5 hour time during a long lay over. Plenty of liquor and beer to choose from! Beware, Bartenders are very nonchalant about doing their job. Several TV's to watch, but they don't have all of the popular sports channels as we learned. Plenty of additional seating behind the bar at high top charging counters. Food was nothing special. Great location if you have extra time to spend for a cold drink or decent pub food. I passed on the food this time, however they have a good option list of local crafts and commercial beers, as well as cocktails and wines. I enjoyed it because you ca buy your drink and then head to one of the many tables or lounge seats for you to relax and enjoy it. They have a loud paging system so when an airplane is boarding, they announce it and you can barely miss it. They also have 7 seats tables with 10 iPads each which are around this lounge. So you can get your drink, food, and surf on the internet. Conveniently located.... Ah! Forgot to mention....they have a small bird as pet...it's just flying around looking for food :) read more

This is a standard airport bar. Nothing bad, nothing exceptional. They do have food, which is prepared at Papa Joe's next door. Everything is overpriced though. Cheapest beers are $10. A small personal pizza is $15+. Small order of wings $10 and average at best. If it's near your gate and you really need something, it's alright, but be prepared for the $$$ read more

Terrible service. There was one other person at that the bar and I wait for 15 minutes before finally being asked if I wanted something. I place my order she I believe her name was Kristine took a deep sigh like I annoyed her. Because the bar was dirty I told her I was moving to another section. Again seemed like I bothered her so I asked her if that area was closed, she told me she will be closing soon. This was at 8:32pm they close at 9pm. I didn't ask when you closed, I asked if the section I wanted to move to was closed. Because of her apparent attitude and lack of any customer service whatsoever, I canceled my order. Not only was she rude to me but just now she yelled at another airport service worker for doing their job. I'm still sitting near the bar area and I guess she stops serving "certain" customers around 8:30 to clean up, which really isn't the customers issue. I get we all have bad days. This was a pretty nice little bar at the end of our terminal. It was ghost town while we were there. We sat at the bar tables with iPads (which are apparently only for viewing the menu, not ordering) and got to choose from Papa Joe's or Ember's, although both menus are prepared on the Papa Joe's side. They have some renditions of classic bar food on the menu and of course, plenty of drinks. We each just got a cheeseburger and fries. They were surprisingly yummy! Burgers were cooked the way we asked, and the fries didn't look seasoned but they sure tasted like it. We had to go up to the bar to order so don't expect to be waited on, but the staff were super friendly. I'd recommend this place for a bite if you're waiting in the area and see something on the menu that catches your eye. read more

What to do when you have a five hour delay on a Sunday at the airport.... head to the bar for a cold drink and watch some football. As we walked up to this bar I had high hopes, with their cool looking electronic signs changing from flames to frozen ice... The bar stools din't have any backs and looked really uncomfortable so we switched them with these over-sized soft backing ones, from high tables in the area. Best idea of the day! Loved that they had outlets underneath the bar top all around, we definitely needed to charge our phones all day. Our first bartender was great, personable and attentive but his shift was over within an hour. The rest of the bartenders were awful, they spent more time on their phones or talking with each other... extremely hard to get their attention. Decent beer selection, ice cold... that was a win! We decided to order some food to hold us over, well that was the idea. I ordered the loaded waffle fries, with extra cheese. When they arrived there was barely any cheese (surprised the waitress even brought it out) She was very nice and took it back for extra cheese, when it came back out.. there was hardly any more added on. Super disappointing. I asked for a side of sour cream, they didn't have any. The waitress then told us they don't have a lot of extras...um ok. At least they had four tv's to watch the football games on right?? Well sort of, they could only get certain channels so we saw one game and espn news. The best part was the four tv's couldn't have different channels on each, two tv's had to have the same show on. Quick stop in DTW between flights. I've been in and out of this airport weekly for layovers for the last 6ish weeks. Grabbed a seat at the bar. Erika was working, and I'm positive she's the best bartender, employee, most friendly human this airport has. I just ordered a glass of wine, but I sat here for 45 minutes and watched her hustle, speak politely to everyone who sat down, work hard and she consistently checked on everyone. I always make my way down to Embers because there are table tops with outlets that are always available and it's out of the way and quiet. Great to get some work done. I finally got some food here for the first time. The price is typical of an airport with alcohol being rather expensive. I ordered the lamb sandwich which is a kind of pita wrap. Half the sandwich had the garlic yogurt and the other did not have any. When I got a bite with the yogurt it was really good. Without it there wasn't much flavor. I could have done with more tomatoes and cucumber on it as well. There was only like one or two pieces. The fries were good and crispy. read more

Let's start with the good: the decor and friendly staff...once you get someone's attention that is. There are iPads for ordering but none of them work. They are either out of service or have only the menu for viewing. No server came up to me so I had to ask the bartender who mentioned the non-functioning devices. I find it offensive to argue with a minimum wage employee, so I paid and left. However, this is an unethical business practice, and I want a refund. Pretty decent spot to kill time on a layover. The beer selection is good for sure and although the draft beers are a bit on the pricy side ($10) for a porter you do get your moneys worth. Ember's is a nice spot to kill some time between flights, but here are a few things to understand. Similar to other reviews, there is just one bartender for the most part. They have to tend the entire bar and run to Papa Joe's to pick up food orders. A second bartender did arrive after a while, but in the interim, it was a lot for one server to handle. I ordered a simple (overpriced) meat and cheese plate. It said it came with grilled bread. It took over 20 minutes to prepare even though it didn't require any real cooking... or so I thought. It in fact didn't come with some nice, crusty grilled bread, but rather with triangles of fried dough. I have never experienced such a disconnect between a menu description and execution. And, I expect over priced for an airport, but my three cheeses were just basic cheddars. The meats were a good prosciutto but also pepperoni (yawn) and salami. And, I don't know about you, but fried dough on a cheese plate? No thanks! I spoke to another couple that also seemed to have a similar disconnect on their Hummus and Pita dish so I'd recommend sticking to sandwiches with fries. And allow for the food to be a bit slow. This is not the place to come if you only have 30 minutes to kill. read more
