Fun, CHEAP, bowling in DA LIEF!

I purchased a Groupon to use at this location. I have the Groupon app for the iPhone so I did not bring a printed version of it. It was refused by the management. When I asked for a reason, I was told that the rule was in place so the Groupon cannot be used more than once. This is the worst reason I have ever heard, because my iPhone app shows the UNIQUE code each Groupon is assigned. If they kept a record of this code (and the printed version just shows that same code), then of course no one else can use it. Doesn't take a genius to figure out. EVERY other business on Groupon has allowed me to use the Groupon directly from my iPhone. Heck, that's why this app even exists! I will definitely be calling Groupon as well as the owners of Emerald Bowl to complain because this is just plain stupid. The management was rude throughout the whole process. He was obviously having a bad day and taking it out on the customers. He was curt to me and not in the least bit accommodating. I had a laptop in my car, which I could use in conjunction with their wifi service to print out the Groupon if he would just allow me to connect it to his printer. But he flat out refused and didn't give any valid reason. He just did not want to be of any help. There was only an hour and half left before closing time and he obviously knew we wouldn't have enough time to find a place to print out the Groupon. In addition, I'd lose my place in line, and we'd already waited over 30 minutes. This place is lucky that it's so crowded already, because with customer service like this, they'd have a hard time getting new customers. read more

This was the worst bowling ally. Very disappointed drove from Seabrook because yelp had near 5 stars. Not even close! The Lane's kept breaking down. No Music! The concession stand staff was rude because she was getting off 30 min later. This was at 4:30 but acted like she didn't want to cook cause she was leaving. read more

This bowling alley put a deal on Groupon for $27 for 2 hours of bowling including shoes. We got there and they would not honor the voucher on weekends, and after 5 pm. We already bought our voucher and didn't even get a chance to bowl since our refund wouldn't come for until business days hit. DISAPPOINTING! read more

I used a Groupon for 6 people- $41 for 2 hours (2 people was $21 and 4 people was $31). Sixty ounce draft pitchers were $9.00. Mega large cheese pizza was only $14. Parking, staff, customer service were all great. Plenty of TV's everywhere to watch football/basketball games too. I'm deducting one star because it's not located in a good neighborhood. Outside of this one hiccup, everything is great once you're inside. Just bring a big dude with you and enjoy :-) I'll be back here monthly. read more

The bowling lane here is awesome, for an old place they do keep up a great job with the lane. The staff is also very friendly.

Let me start off by saying before I even walked in this place, I didn't feel welcome. My girlfriend and I saw a Groupon online and decided to give it a go. I park and as I walk in there are 5 guys lingering outside of the bowling alley just staring for no apparent reason. Any place that has ghetto lingerers outside does not bode well. This bowling alley is GREAT! Super clean and the lanes never glitched at all. No stuck balls or anything. Best part, their staff is AMAZING! every single employee greeted us and told us to have a great day when we left. They made my little guy feel special, not little, when he needed a lighter ball. We have been going to this bowling alley for many years. We like the lanes because we have gotten to know them. This is an older bowling alley so it doesn't have the same amenities as the newer ones, like automatic rails for certain players only. If you want rails, then they stay on the whole time. Our experience is usually very good, especially now that you can get the Groupon offer at the alley. AND the fried chicken wings are delicious! It has been getting harder to get a lane because they have so many league games going on. And the lanes act up a few times every time we play. But we still like it a lot and drive all the way from Katy just to bowl there. read more

Plenty of parking, but be aware that you're not in the safest part of town. Though it's a bit out of the way, we come here pretty often because of the groupon deal. 2 hours for $20 bucks for 2! You will not get a better deal anywhere else. There are plenty of lanes and we rarely experience any of them breaking down. The workers are friendly and helpful. I've mostly come during the week or during the day. I've haven't had to wait for lanes. I would definitely recommend this place if you're looking for group or family fun. read more

Very fun place to bowl with friends and family. There is a area where you can order food like fries, drinks, and chicken. I don't remember the days but they have days where games are 2-3 bucks each and if you have your own bowling shoes you are looking at a big save! Very nice staff and helpful too! I definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a fun time. Only problem sometimes is that this place gets pretty packed! Or there is bowling club, so you end up sitting and waiting for awhile. If anything, call ahead and ask whats going on. read more

Lanes are decent, house balls sucks. Came here on a Sunday and suppose to close at 12am but as we were bowling and had 2 frames left, they cut off the game at 11:45. Was a bit annoyed since we were playing for a bet. Overall, bowling alley is a bit outdated but lanes are good. Food and pitcher of beers are cheap. read more

They're always packed with bowling tournaments so if you wanna go, go as late as you can before they close. My friends and I used their Groupon but once we got there at 6:30, we were rudely told that nothing would be open til 9. It's just your basic bowling alley. Nothing fancy. Would I go back? They got the stars for the price of bowling, which was great. Food was overpriced for really REALLY crappy food. Pizzas were over cooked and super doughy. Wings were burned. Nachos were pretty decent and drinks were a good size too. Wish they would've had more of a drink selection though. Overall my family and I made the most of it and had a good time. Ehhhh. This place lacks customer service. Upon arriving and trying to check in I was offended by the comments the staff made to me. They give off this vibe that they are are higher white supremacy and even speak to their own employees as well as PAYING customers with that same tone. I was advised that they might no accept my free bowling voucher because I had arrived late [according to them] by one employee and that I had to ask the man in charge [ I am assuming his dad. ] Once I asked the second man, he seemed like it was an inconvenience that I was brining my child in for a free bowl and even stated to me several times about other time frames available.. He was Making it seem like he was doing me a favor but all that extra information was unnecessary because I was meeting my friends their who had just arrived 5 minutes before me and had a lane assigned and had no issues with the same two white men I spoke to .. My issue is that I am a PAYING customer I should not have to be harassed by the employees or the owners. they probably just seen it as a loss of profit because I have a free pass and only one child. Their pizza is nasty so don't wasted any money on that. The soda is expensive and you have to pay a $1 if you want a refill. The lane we were assigned broke so we had to move in the middle of a game to the opposite side of the building. read more

They are open till 12 but if you show up after 11 they won't even let you bowl one game they were rude and don't bowl here.

Who says bowling birthday parties are just for kids?! I recently threw my fiance a surprise birthday bowling party at this location and couldn't have been more pleased! Everything went smoothly from Chris and Dana (owner) who helped me with my party reservation to Dean who ensured my group had a great time to even the bus boy who didn't want my guests to bus their own cups and plates at the end of the night. All in all every staff member was accommodating and gave us amazing customer service. They even got on the PA and announced my fiance's birthday several times throughout the night. I loved the special attention the staff gave our group. Everyone commented on how fun the night was and what a great location I picked. People were also commenting on how surprisingly good the pizza was! Our package for 14 people included 3 large pizzas, 4 pitchers of soda, 3 lanes, 2 hours of bowling with shoes included. We exceeded our bowling time and Dean was nice enough to give us a free game for all FOURTEEN people. I even got vouchers at the end of the night for 7 free games. Needless to say, even without these vouchers I will be returning! I almost didn't want to post this review, because I wanted to keep Emerald Bowl a hidden gem, but they deserve every word of praise! One of the best bowling places around the Houston area. They have daily theme days like disco night, youth night, jamz night, and discount special days. It's great for all ages. The location is not in a great area but it is worth going. There have never been any problems like break ins so it safe. Big SWAT! read more

This place is NOT kid friendly. No kids rolling ramp. They limit each lane to only one (1) house bowling ball. We asked twice for an additional ball, and they did not allow. I would never return to this place. read more

Except the location, we find everything good about this place. Emerald exceeded my expectations. I came here with my husband on Sunday evening. It was packed with couples, friends and families. Very safe if you have any doubt. Just make sure you understand the rates properly and buy what's right for you. We paid 2.60 for each game i.e. each player one game and per hour rates were $40. Shoes are expensive to rent at 3.50 each pair. Will definitely go again and yes I recommend it. read more

Only 5 stars if this is in fact the bowling alley that use to host the Alief Hospital bowling league back in 1980! I was only 7 years old at the time, but I had so much fun that the memories are still with me 33 years later! Of course there was a cute girl involved but regardless, my parents bowled and I had fun with a girl. Does it get any better? Ok 4 stars only because it's close to the house cheap drink considering and when we go we go with friends so it's always a great time. The staff is well kids who just don't care much. We are all use to it heck it's in alief so point said. The lanes are hit or miss sometimes it's real oil'ly and sometime just dry but we really go for the drinks. Lol read more

I used to come to this bowling place every Wednesday for their special price and pitcher of beers with friends and/or family. I enjoyed it every time and I never had a bad experience here. The place can be a hit or miss when it comes to cleanliness. It really depends on the workers and customers. I remember ordering their fried mushrooms and chicken tenders were good. Despite booking a party a FULL MONTH in advance, with the manager, the evening before my event, when I called to confirm I was told that there was a tournament and nothing else! No apology and no attempt to recover my business. Yuck. read more

I mean, it was alright as far as bowling alleys go. The service was good in terms of getting us our shoes and into our lane quickly. But the balls and tables were sticky and gross. Lanes were clean, TVs seemed old and graphics are definitely on the lower end. Got a deal on Groupon, 4 bowlers, 2 hours, plus shoes for $39. I think it's worth it. Another thing is that they didn't have food menus, just the one at the counter. They don't come take your order you need to go there, which is a hassle for large groups. read more

First time bowling in houston, nice place, u can sit back just watching, but who wants to watch when u can have so much fun in the front. 39.99/hr, plus 4/person's rental shoes. The lady with long brown hair refuses to put anyone on lanes when she is on her smoke break. We showed up and couldn't even walk in the door before she refused to let us in saying there were no lanes when you could visibly see lanes open. This is not an isolated incident. This same "employee" refused to let us rent a lane the other night when there was still over an hour until close. If they would get rid of her I bet there'd be a lot less negative reviews. Driving from cypress all the way here to be refused service for no other reason than a bad employee. Thanks emerald bowl for ruining my kids night two times in less than a week.
