I am currently eating here but thought it would go ahead and post a review. The food would have to be the best in the world to overcome the shortcomings in the service. We had to wait more than 10+ minutes to even have someone come to our table after being seated. Than it took another 15+ minutes to get our drinks. (I was shocked by the slow service so I started timing it after being seated) So after being seated quickly it took more than 25+ minutes before we had anything to drink. I am terrified of how long it will take to get our food. This review is about the service so I can't speak about the food because after 30+ minutes there is still nothing to eat or drink besides water. read more

Good time here, good time. The food? Major selection and delicious. Okay, so I had a simple grilled cheese but, let me tell you, I've experienced some BAD sandwiches. This was not one of them. The variety was incredible, it was difficult comprehending just how many choices there were and, ultimately, decided what to order. The waitress/service? Amazing. My friend and I were hungover (me less so, mind you) and were on major slow mode. She was always smiling and very patient with us as we went over the menu slooowwwly. The outdoor seating? Fun. The tables were far enough from the street that you don't feel in danger of passing cars. It was shady, in between two tall buildings, but not dark, on the corner of Wacker and Wabush and near Heald Square which is more open. The price? It's right. Steal of a deal for the quality of cuisine, service, and environment. The catch? Bugs. I'm not naive enough to think that outdoor seating excludes the elements of the outdoors...but being downtown, I didn't expect to be waving off tiny bugs as often as I had to. read more

I'm actually sitting at the bar of Emerald Irish pub. First of all it took probably 8 to 10minutes for the bartender to come by to take order. I asked for food menu and received menu right away as she was making my drink. It's been 15 minutes and she is just chilling behind the bar, not coming back to me to take order. Didnt get her name but she got some thick glasses, blonde/brown long hair pony tail, left for her shift at around 5pm on4/6 Saturday. She needs to be retrained on customer service. I'm sorry, she sucks, I would never hire person like her. read more

Our hotel recommended this pub for lunch. We really enjoyed the drinks and bar food. We orders the waffle fries and bone-in buffalo wings. Food was delicious! Prices were extremely reasonable for downtown area. Bartender gal was friendly. They have great lunch specials as well as a good happy hour selection. read more

One of those places I have walked by for years but never thought to step in: this weekend I did and I was pleasantly surprised! We sat outside only and I have no idea what the inside was like, but for a look sidewalk eatspace it was idea: not a highly crowded street, not a ton of carstank, a fence to keep out the beggars and decent views of the architecture to the north. I found the service straightforward and attentive. The meals were generous helpings and comfort-food style well done mixes of meats and sides. Not a bad place for a summer weekend early dinner! This place was recommended by some other friends who happened to be visiting from out of state and had met the owner at one of his other locations earlier. They had also been here the previous year, but hadn't met the owner yet. This place is nice. We were here in the early evening on a Saturday night. Wasn't terribly busy. The menu was pretty diverse and had a lot to choose from. The waiter was attentive but not overly. And the food was moderately priced. I ordered the turkey club with french fries. When the food arrived, the fries were a little cooler. not as hot as I had hoped, but not quite room temperature yet. But it was on the way. The atmosphere was pleasant. I didn't order any alcohol, but they seemed to have a pretty good spirits (whiskey) list. I wouldn't be opposed to visiting again. read more

I've been here twice before, both times had decent food. Usually stop here if attending a show in the city. Never had to wait to be seated. Menu is big. Food is good. Haven't really explored the drink menu. I've had a couple of the apps, all good. The hummus is fantastic! The spinach and artichoke dip is a tad on the creamy wide. The seafood curry is really good! The noise level is average. Can have a decent conversation at a reasonably level. The place is way bigger than it looks from the outside. Kinda cozy. One thing I'd maybe complain about is the size of their full carafe for sangrias. There were four of us who each had maybe half a glass, and that's a stretch. A full carafe would be better split between two people to really enjoy. read more

One of the best Irish bars in Chicago, and this city has a rich Irish heritage. Beer specials constantly rotate and are on point ($5 for Revolution? Don't mind if I do) and with Magners and Harp on tap they'll mix the perfect Snakebite. Pauly, Kiernan, and Lexi at the bar are always welcoming and are quick to freshen your drink. Don't skip the food menu either! The Chirish Burger is pound for pound one of the best burgers in River North, and the daily food specials are always solid choices. Don't skip the Irish Cheese and Charcuterie plate! They're just east of the Theater District so rather than waste your money at Petterinos pop in for a drink and and a bite before heading to The Goodman or the Chicago Theater. Props also to Connor, who I believe is one of the managers, who's my favorite Irishman in Chicago. read more

I came here with about 10 other coworkers for happy hour and we had a reserved table as well. The interior definitely lends itself to the "old irish bar" feel and the place was a little antique but still kept well. I only ordered a couple beers on draft so I can't comment much on the food. Service was great and our server was checking up on us regularly for any additional orders. I also appreciated how my server helped break one of my larger bills into smaller ones. The casual atmosphere here is pretty good and I can see this place being great for watching sports as well. read more

Renaissance Hotel Guest. So far so good. Outside seating is beautiful. Going with the ordered the MacPiggy. So far so good. Typical Irish ambiance. A little edgy/home like which I like and am used to. Fast service Nachos are clean and good. Ask for some guacamole. Good is simple and tastes as Expected. Nothing here is fancy. My wife has a dairy allergy. Her food came out with butter all over it anyway. We sent it back and I'm pretty sure they just cleaned it off and reserved it because she got really sick from it. Either they served bad chicken or they knowingly served food to someone with an allergy to it. Either way, not a good business. read more

Stopped in here for late night snack and beer. Walked in, went to a table just near the stairs, when a rude girl came over and asked "is this where to want to sit" and we said yes, and she tossed some menus on the table and said "ok great" super snottily, and stalked off. We waited and waited and no one ever came to our table. So we got up to go directly to the bar. Again she stopped us, and asked where we were going ONCE AGAIN rude tone. Great service and atmosphere. We went in with a larger-than-expected party after making a reservation. So there was some initial misunderstanding. Even though they were crazy busy the management and staff went above and beyond to accommodate us and make us feel welcome. The selection of beers is impressive. And the appetizers are fairly priced, fresh and yummy. They had some fun live entertainment which added to the great atmosphere. I think this will be our new go-to place in the area. read more

I can't say that I've spent a lot of time at the Emerald Loop, but it always seems to serve it's purpose when I do. It's proximity to the river and reasonable prices are the lead reasons I end up at Emerald Loop every St. Patrick's Day.There is always something a little fun going on, whether its a class full of young Riverdancers or a bagpipe player hopping up on the bar. These events are limited to the Irish holidays I believe. Anyway, after admiring that familiar shade of green that the Chicago River becomes every Parade Day, Emerald Loop is a reliable spot to start or maintain your day drinking. I've personally never experienced a line, despite the interior being routinely packed on Chi-rish Holidays. That they manage the chaos and pour a decent Irish Car Bomb, makes the place pretty attractive. This last Parade day, it did appear that they were running out of most beers (Not my Smithwicks though, that's a tough brew to find). So I'd advise fighting your way to the bar and getting as comfortable as you can. There won't be any seating for hours unless you're aggressive, lucky or have reservations. There is, however, great people watching and a terrific energy this pub exudes on the days when everyone in Chicago is a little Irish. . read more

For happy hours I tend to gravitate to wine and Martinis, thus the reason I had not ventured to Emerald Loop. I came here yesterday for a bon-voyage drinks sendoff and was pleased that the bar was relatively calm. The bartender took our drink orders quickly. As the happy hour specials had not kicked in, we went with draft pours of the Daisy Cutter Pale Ale ($5). I am usually not a beer drinker but found this pour to be refreshing. No food was ordered on this visit, although my stomach gave a growl at the server's mention of lobster mac and cheese to a neighboring party. I probably won't make this a regular stop on my happy hour rotation but am glad that I had a pleasant experience here, given the somewhat raucous vibe that this place sometimes gives off. read more
