Was pretty hungry while I waiting at Jiffy Lube up the street. So I decided to Yelp some breakfast joints. Emle's was the closest, read a few reviews and looked at some pics. The pics and videos of the Moroccan Shakshuka sold me. I'm all about trying something new and different. This was definitely in that category for me. I was expecting a stand alone type of diner/cafe establishment, but I found it in a small town center which was easily visible. As I walked in, the place had a peaceful atmosphere, probably due to not too many customers at the time but it picked up as it approached 12 noon. The host was busy with a customer but as soon as he was free he advised me to sit anywhere I want. Of course I sat right in front of the TV, since it was on ESPN. Sat down and was quickly offered something to drink. Coffee and water is all I asked. The coffee wasn't bad, if you can drink it black with one sugar and then refilled to the point where it's plain, it's good. I didn't even open the menu as I already knew what I wanted. I explained it to the waiter and he automatically knew what I wanted as well. 3 perfectly poached eggs in a marinara-type sauce with Mediterranean spices, onions, peppers and chunks of chicken breast, served with a house-made pita bread. Which was enough to compliment the amount served in the dish. I was able to find one or two pieces of olives in there, which added another flavor to the dish, which I liked. Wished I had more in there. The dish was derish! Flavorful, hearty and definitely something I've never eaten before. I recommend it and will definitely have it again. As for the other dishes, I can't really speak on, but I should assume they're good. Service was on point. Kind, attentive, professional and made you feel comfortable. Makes the meal more pleasurable. The place was clean and another plus was a nice clean restroom. Also family friendly. I was sort of on a lunch break, so next time I have to bring my wife and kids here. We've been coming here for several years now, but it had been awhile since we'd been here because we moved to the other side of the Valley. Decided today was the day to come enjoy Sunday brunch and Emle's did not disappoint. We were a party of 5 and everyone loved what they ordered--cinnamon swirl pancakes (just the right amount of cinnamon with a pecan finish), stuffed Frenchie (amazing crispy French toast with strawberries and a smooth creamy sweet sauce), and Caprese Benedict (what a yummy idea!). Mimosas are a $1 add on with your meal and the roasted potatoes were delicious as well. Service was on point and they even pre-bussed our table--something I'm seeing less and less in restaurants these day but that I truly value as a customer. I was excited to give Emle's a try, they have a huge menu and I had heard and read good things about their food, specifically breakfast. The fact it was family owned made it sound appealing too. Anyhow, my brother and I decided to grab dinner here and try out their expansive menu. Logistics. It sits on the corner spot of a strip mall and occupies two spaces. There is ample parking in the lot and we scored a spot up front. Walking in it has a coffee shop meets diner feel and it has a very basic layout. It looks like they have a check in offer which I missed which is 10% off your order. They brought out some rolls and olive oil infused with parsley while we made our selections. Service was adequate and friendly. it took a while to decide as they have a small book for a menu. That can be good and bad, too many items can mean quantity vs. quality. It's hard to do a lot of items well. They feature a menu within the menu focused on Mediterranean food. This seemed like a logical choice so I gave it a go. I didn't want to complain but in hindsight I should have, it was that bad. My brother was reasonably happy with his BLT ( no photo) so there you go. I hate to give this place 2 stars based on 1 visit but in good conscience I just cannot imagine coming back. Ditto the fact they are showcasing Mediterranean food. Best kept secret in Northridge??? 1. There is love in the food. 2. Diverse and interesting menu. 3. Quality ingredients. 4. Reasonably priced. 5. Never a wait to be seated. There you have it...5 reasons for me giving them 5 stars. I remember seeing a flyer or coupon for this place years ago and looking it up on Yelp. That was before I discovered bookmarking on Yelp, but Emle's was bookmarked in my brain that I need to one day hit this place for breakfast. A couple of weeks ago that day finally came, and it did not disappoint. I wanted to give them 4 or 5 stars that first day, but often I'll try to go to a restaurant a few times before jumping to conclusions. In 2 weeks I've done their breakfast 3 times, and last night tried them for dinner. The place looks small from the outside, sitting at the end of a typical Valley strip mall. First visit, I got a bit of a late start on a Saturday morning, and was expecting a wait for breakfast. I go out for breakfast a lot and am conditioned that way. Whether it's Jinky's, Hugo's , Blu Jam, Nat's, or even IHop for that matter...late morning equals wait for a table. Not the case at Emle's. Good start, but got me thinking, "why is that???" Anyway, once you get inside, the room is bigger than you would expect. Probably seats around 80, plus a few additional tables outside. The decor is ok and they are doing some type of remodeling right now, with a big wall covered by a tarp. There are some nice wall accents and I was thinking at dinner that they should lose the fluorescent (yeah, I need to look up the spelling for that!) lights and light the place dimly with the chandeliers they've got hanging from the ceiling. I will start with breakfast. In 3 trips, I have had the Greek Omelette, the Garden Omelette, and the Stuffed French Toast. All were excellent. I should also note that my daughter was with me on 2 occasions and she loves their bagel and lox. For both omelets I went with egg whites. The omelettes come with a choice of toast or banana bread, plus a choice of fruit, cottage cheese, tomatoes, or roasted red potatoes. The server said the banana bread was great, and that seemed unique so I went with banana bread and fruit. The banana bread isn't great...it is amazing! Not too sweet and perfectly moist, then I think they grill it so it's served warm and has a crunch on the outside while still really moist inside. They give you a generous piece as well. Sorry Mom! I know you birthed me and put up with years of my insanity...and you do make an epic banana bread, but Emle's has you beat. Both of the Omelettes were excellent...good size and flavor. I went with the Garden Omelette because it comes with Goat Cheese. This tuned out to be an amazing choice. It is a nice sized omelette topped with a generous amount of goat cheese. They cook it to where it's almost crispy on the outside, so I was wondering if it would be dry...but I found the total opposite. Incredibly juicy inside with lots of spinach, tomatoes, mushrooms, onion and bell peppers. Each bite was a mini explosion of juice. Serious morning goodness. One of days I had to go with a sweet breakfast, so I tried the Stuffed French Toast. This was really good! The french toast has a nice crunch that stands up to the the ricotta cheese filing and berries. I would definitely get this again. Last night I tried Emle's for dinner. I was a Monday night, so the place is really quiet. I was very surprised to see how extensive the dinner menu is. Not overwhelming, but several fish, meat, pasta, and mediterranean choices. The place has a mediterranean feel so I went with the beef kebab. My biggest take-away was the quality of the meat. It was very tender and cooked a perfect medium rare. A few bites in to the meal, our server asked how I liked my dinner, so I mentioned the quality of the meat. He told me that they use filet mignon. There you go! It was served with rice and vegetables. I didn't feel that the beef had a lot of seasoning, but I was OK with that. It is served with rice, vegetables, and a small cup of "Emle's Dip," which is like a mediterranean yogurt meets ranch dressing. Normally I am not a dressing or dip person, but this was very good and I was dipping both the meat and the veggies. I was pretty stuffed so I was going to pass on dessert, but out of curiosity asked what they had. I was surprised to hear that they make all of the desserts in-house. He said that the Key Lime pie was amazing so I tried it. I'll end this review with a bold statement. Best Key Lime pie I have ever had. Very creamy, like a soft, velvety custard. The service can be a bit slow at times during breakfast, but overall it is good. There is plenty of parking and you get 10% off with a Yelp check-in. The menu has something for everyone and I still want to try their pizzas, and their red velvet, and tiramisu pancakes. I also want to try their homemade berry pie! read more

It sure beats going to all the chains that surround the north valley. They have a huge menu and a newly built stone pizza oven. I personally have only been here for breakfast. The Omelette's are very good and quite large. My husband ordered the Gigantic french toast, which is deep fried french toast topped with funnel cake . It was pretty overwhelming but good... I prefer a much lighter breakfast. The service is quick and the staff is very friendly and attentive. I am curious to come back and try their lunch and dinner. Stay tuned! read more

It was too big, could feed 3 people easily... added blueberries. Loved Loved it... came with Strawberries and Blueberries.. The coffee was really good... Parking is easy, big shopping center... I normally come here on the weekends. I've never been here when this place has been crowd. This place is super-fast in serving your food and bringing the food out to you. I believe this is a family owned business and they all work there on the weekends. Don't forget to the famous Emele's French toast. Very big portions and tasteful. Plenty of parking spots available. This place was so delicious ! I wanted to originally take my friend to eat breakfast at Joes cafe in Granada hills , but it was randomly closed on a Monday ! So I went on yelp and found this place ! It was so delish! I got the eggs Benedict and it was so tasty the Canadian bacon was not your usual thin cut ! This Canadian bacon was thick and juicy , and the side of potatoes was very flavorful . My friend got the stuffed French toast and it was fresh and sweet . It tasted like a fluffy blue berry donut . My favorite part was the coffee of course ! We hadn't been to Emle's in several years and decided to try it again. I ordered the Italian sausage omelet with feta cheese and my Mom ordered the grilled shrimp. Shortly after we ordered we were brought a bread board with 2 hot rolls and a vinegar and herb sauce for dipping. Both bread and sauce were excellent. Next, Mom received her side salad which was too large for her to finish but was well presented with colorful beets and carrots and blue cheese dressing on the side. The entree's came out quickly and we were very pleased with what appeared before us. Mom's plate had 10 shrimp on skewers served over a bed of rice. A nice side of mixed vegetables was included. My omelet was tasty and the sausage, feta and olives were a good mix. I had a side of fruit which was very nice and showed a lot more effort put into it than the average restaurant fruit salad. It was artfully presented with melon, sliced oranges and bananas layered individually. We won't wait years before our next visit! read more

This was my second visit at Emle's in Northridge and I must say that I was equally satisfied with both visits. The ambiance of the restaurant is very open and bright with lots of seating. The decor is pretty and makes you feel like you're in a little Mediterranean town. It's so cute. You pretty much just walk in and take a seat where you like and the waiter greets you. The owners and staff here are very attentive and friendly. I was actually very impressed by how great the waiters were as just 2 of them handled a full restaurant by themselves and were still very prompt and attentive. The food here is very, very good. Their breakfast food is fresh and delicious. And this past visit that I made for dinner was great as well. The complimentary bread they served was a little burnt on top, but very soft and fresh. It was so good with butter. As an appetizer I ordered the calamari which was perfectly golden, crispy and tasty. And I really had a craving for pizza so I ordered the pepperoni which was amazing. I like my pizza with just a little sauce and lots of cheese and toppings and they gave me just that. On the other hand, my boyfriend ordered the beef and chicken kabob dinner which came with rice, tabouleh, hummus and pita bread. I have to say that the meal was a little disappointing. This is one place where I'd think they served good Mediterranean food considering the ownership, but that's not the case. The meal was very underwhelming as it lacked flavor and an authentic taste. I'm sad to say I would not try another Mediterranean dish there. But everything else is great! The appetizer took no time to come out, however receiving our entrees took some time. But the bread held us over. I'm definitely going to visit again to try some of their pasta and ravioli which sound amazing. read more

I had the 2 egg breakfast (scrambled) with hash browns. My friend got foul. We split hummus and a banana/chocolate chip pancake. Very multicultural and a weird combo, we know ;) Anyways, the food was AMAZING. It was the best foul I've ever had! Garlic was perfect! The khubus (pita) was so soft and fresh. The hummus was fine - nothing out of this world, but still yummy! The eggs were soft, the hash browns were great, and the pancake was pretty good as well. All in all, AMAZING food and great prices. I think that the people who have given poor reviews because it's not some fancy place should really consider the fact they're not paying $24 for 2 eggs... they're paying IHOP prices.. on top of that, the people are so friendly. I recently had a casual business lunch here and all of us were very impressed. Enormous selections on menu, my veggie pals were thrilled. Breakfast served all day. Friendly, clean establishment. Service was excellent and personable. I had the chicken caesar wrap that was very good, but I love their omelets and specialty of the house, their french toast concoction. I'm a resident of Northridge, and there aren't many decent places to eat in this area where the food and service are great. Been here 3-4 times now, all experiences have been excellent. I read some of the negative reviews posted about this place, and I shake my head. I'm a very stern critic, but ya gotta give props when they are due. read more

Took my friend to dinner here yesterday for his 78th birthday. We have really enjoyed Emle's menu in the past. He ordered Filet Mignon, medium rare, I ordered Lamb Chops medium rare. What he he got was top sirloin well done and tough. What I got was dried out lamb chops also tough and veggies were cold. We did not enjoy or finish our meals but complained to our waiter, who stated he had "more than a couple similar complaints that day re: chef preps..." He refunded 20% of our bill which was still over $50.00 for a birthday dinner we could not eat., and left me embarrassed to say the least, since we had to go elsewhere just to have dinner last nite. My first restaurant since being "hunkered" down due to the virus. Emle's was a family restaurant, so I took a chance. Truly a family restaurant who showed patron concern for social distancing, cleanliness, waiter training with Covid-19 in mind. Being a CSUN student, and a Northridge local, I frequently venture out into the neighborhood for a bite to eat and often find myself wishing I had stayed home and cooked because of lackluster dishes and terrible customer service. Emle's was a welcome change! The ambience of this corner diner is peaceful and inviting, the wait staff is friendly and attentive, the banquette seating I'd comfortable and the food is of quality. It is crafted with care, and presented attractively. I ordered the BLT sandwich with tomato soup, coleslaw, and French fries. A simple lunch-time classic which was delicious and satisfying. The Tomato soup was delicious and multidimensional; it's flavor and texture exceeded my expectations. As you enter this establishment that serves "American traditional" you're instantly reminded of this by the photos of Europe and the middle eastern drapes. Let's start with what they call coffee. I'm no snob when it comes to coffee but this was worse than what they serve to prisoners at Guantanamo. The "French toast" is basically a funnel cake. I'm pretty sure they had it shipped in from six flags. The potatoes were cooked to a fine burnt crisp. No offense but the only time this chef has seen flavor it was in a dictionary. The bacon was perfectly undercooked to maintain an ideal raw taste. Way overpriced for bad food. Avoid it like the plague. Upside?
