I ran over something in the road just as I was passing Emmon"s Autoplex. I pulled in for help putting on my spare. I was very impressed with the way they quickly helped me. A manager/owner came over and I was told that they sell tires, both new & good used . I decided a few days later to get used tires from them. After 4 calls to the service dept & then actually stopping by, I was promised a call in 2-3 days when the tires were available. It's been a week and nothing. BEWARE! I went on their website to inquire on selling them my basically new truck. Their website made an offer and said to bring it in for inspection and finalize the deal. I arrived and waited over an hour before the GM, Greg, looked at the truck. They then called me to the salesman's office who said the GM, Greg, offered 8k BELOW the online offer. Even the offer range on their website at the minimum was 5k more than Greg's low ball offer. I requested to speak with Greg who confirmed the truck was basically new and he referred to it as a "wash and go" which means the vehicle needs no repairs or services and is good to go immediately upon being cleaned. I confronted Greg about the offer provided on his website and he wanted to play the typical lying sales tactics. I told him this type of business is bad business practice and he came up on his offer but still didn't come close to what the online offer was, or even the bottom number of their offer range. Bought a 2012 Corvette with 33,000 miles everything with the car looked good. I drove it home 32 miles away before I even got home the car started squealing from the engine bay looked like it was coming from the harmonic balancer. It rained on the way home so maybe i thought it had something to do with that so before I freaked out i waited for the next day and the noise got worse. Contacted my salesman and he said he would get with the GM. I waited 4 days no response contacted salesman again and emailed GM personally early on the 4th day. So I decided to take my car to someone who specializes in corvette's so I chose Frank's corvettes they found that it was the harmonic balancer and there was an issue with the torque tube. $2800 cost to repair everything finally got a call back from the GM that night. Long story short he said I should have contacted him first and that he might not be able to do anything about it because who knows if the other company that fixed it was honest about the repairs. First off on your website it's states every car they sell is worry free no issues they do full inspection if so why is my having issues 20 miles after leaving dealership. So I further inspected the car on carfax they changed air filter, oil change, engine belts. Belts were changed looked like a new oil filter I don't know about the oil. But my air filter looked brand new but it was just forced into the box it sits so it's damaged something else I replaced. Wish I could check oil and gas they probably didn't put the correct type. In other words there service center is garbage don't trust there inspections or there work. I also got a paper they did an alignment but whydoes the car pull to the right and I don't mean a little. So the GM called and offered me $400 all he can do i should have brought the car for him to fix but why would I there terrible . Bought a Chevrolet Tahoe a couple of months back. Was told it was in "mint" condition (tried to get the price down because it was 3k over kelly blue book), recently found out they did not tighten down a bolt and now they want to charge me $100.00 to just look at it. Only noticed something was wrong while turning the wheel as far as it would go and backing up (it would only then make a noise). This was discovered after the 3-day policy. They sold me a car with a safety issue! No longer is Emmons your friendly auto dealer. This was our third car from them and since they moved to Webster the service is like any other used car dealership. Even my auto mechanic looks at my cars for free. We recently purchased a truck from Emmons Autoplex. Our sales representative, Alberto, was great. He took us inside the gated area and pointed us in the direction of where the trucks were at. He gave us his business card and told us to call or text him when we were ready to do a test drive. Being that it was a Saturday, it was super busy but he still managed to take care of us; Not pushy at all like other dealerships. Once we made up our mind and were ready to buy, we did have to wait a while to go see the finance person. We saw how busy they were so we understood the wait time. The finance manager, Jimmy, was great as well. He gave us the different finance companies that we can choose from and explained the different warranty options available. We made our decision but then he suggested we wait until Monday until he heard back from a different credit union. He explained that some credit unions close early on Saturday and some aren't open on the weekends. Best decision ever! We ended up getting a better rate. Overall, we had a great experience at Emmons. Drove from Louisiana to purchase a car that I was already approved for through my credit union. All was worked out with finance guy, Eric (from Thailand). Once we arrived, they gave me the run away, dragging around until they knew my bank closed. In order to leave with car, I had to get financed through them with higher rate and will have to refinance with my bank. Two days after the purchase, my battery was completely dead. I made sure to remove all of their decals from my car... no free advertisement on my expense. I would not recommend you coming from out of state. REPLY TO GARY: At no point was it mentioned that there was an interest from another buyer to purchase. Also, I had obviously shown interest and asked how I could hold the car...a deposit could have easily been made if that is what was required on Monday morning before the other buyer even showed up. No option was presented that a deposit could have been made at that time. The fact that your employees ran my credit and did not know the car was already reserved or spoken for is unacceptable and affects my credit long term. I repeatedly was asking if I needed to come in and I was told that it can be done via email until we needed to sign the paperwork...if that wasn't the case, and I should have been there, then that should have been communicated. Dillard's doesn't ring up the receipt and run the credit while at the same time selling the shoe somewhere else.also shows you how management can't even apologize for their miscommunication. I would understand if someone beat me to the punch, I took that risk, but you ran my credit and approved me for the sale without realizing you double booked the car..that is mis-management and a significant error on your end. As per my links below, this mis-communication has happened multiple times before. Fix your issues to prevent this from happening and own up to the error your team made. My wife and 3 month old child came in on Saturday December 15, 2018 wanting to test drive a 2015 Kia Sedona. I talked with a salesman by the name of Jordan. We expressed interest in the car and said that we would call them on Monday. We were not warned of anything that was about to happen on Monday. On Monday at 8 am (they open at 9 am), i text the salesman (he gave me his cell number) and gave him a call to tell him to hold the vehicle as we're interested in purchasing it. We had pre-approval and I had mentioned that to him. I had also stated that if there was any need for a down payment or anything I needed to do to hold the vehicle, I would do it. I was pre-approved, so the process takes a day or two. He was off that day so he came in to do the deal. I had been talking to the salesman and had also talked with the GM Greg. I was interested in negotiating a bit. No negotiations took place and the price was good so I had said that I would like to pursue purchasing the vehicle with the original price. Jordan and Greg had told me that they would most likely be able to beat my pre-approval financing terms so they ran my credit as I agreed. I get a call back stating that I was approved for financial terms that beat my pre-approval by 3/4 of a percent so I was excited and decided to go in and finish the paperwork. As I was leaving work around 1130 am, I was called and told that somebody was there to test drive the car and that since they were there and they scheduled an appointment, that they would get priority. I was upset about this and called to discuss the situation with the GM Greg. Greg was flip flopping saying that at first they were there after we were talking on the phone earlier and then he said they were there earlier than we talked. He made multiple excuses that he was out last week and he didn't know and everything else under the sun. He said "his hands were tied" and it didn't matter that my credit was ran and I was willing to put a deposit down or that I came in Saturday before the other couple came in. His only reason was that they drove 4 hours to be there and that "they were here". Even though I was constantly told that we could take care of everything over the phone until I can come in to sign the final paperwork. So basically, my credit was checked, I was approved and all that remained was signing the final paperwork and the deal was taken away from me with no fixes for the fact that my credit was ran and will remain on my credit report for years to come. I went to the better business bureau and other websites to read their reviews and this has happened multiple times before (see links below). Anywhere along the process they should have known that the car was scheduled for a test drive and reserved, even though this other consumer did not do anything different than I did except for "drive 4 hours" and "they were there". Be warned! I will definitely never be doing business with them again. My gripe is mostly with the GM Greg as Jordan Martinez was as helpful as he could have been through the entire process. I had a great car buying experience at the Pasadena lot in 2012 but I also had a VERY questionable attempted trade-in and buying experience here in 2017. Long store short the greasy sales manager (Greg i think?) said I could not be approved for a small loan despite ford approving me for about thirteen times the amount. They burned rubber in my car on the trade in test drive and drove it hard while making me wait for an exhausted and overworked sales person to finish with another client while the manager watched from his 'glass house'. Houston, NOT WORTH THE DRIVE. Don't waste your time. What good are competitive prices when they can't deliver on their promises? You can sift through my reviews and see that I am a very generous reviewer, and do my best to support smaller businesses. I've never rated anyone this low. I have to say that the service at Emmons, or lack of, by some of their sales people, is the worst I've ever encountered. Short version: my brother came in from Florida to buy a car. We drove all around Houston & surrounding areas. Second to last day, we drove from Houston out to Emmons in Pasadena to test drive a vehicle. We liked the car and put Emmons' required deposit on the car. We wanted to finish the transaction that same day but wouldn't make it to the bank in time, so we agreed to drive back out the next day. Next day, after we got the cashier's check we call Emmons several times before we make the trip out to confirm everything to be ready by the time we arrive. We were told more than once that all was good to go. After a 40-minute drive out there, we were met with an extremely arrogant salesperson (not the initial guy we worked with) who told us the car wasn't on site, and that it was in the shop due to the motor in the windows going out. After further discussion, I learned that the car was waiting on a part that would take multiple days to arrive. The salesperson refused to own up to his mistake, even disputing the pickup time with us. My thoughts: Sir, regardless of what the pickup time was, the car was not on the lot and would not be available for multiple days. Remind you, my brother isn't local and planned to drive the car from Houston to Florida immediately after the purchase. The salesperson was very aware of this but had absolutely no regard for their mistake. We wasted a round trip to Pasadena that day (with a baby in tow), my brother would need to extend his stay to wait on the car and we still would need to drive back out from Houston one more time to pick up the car. My brother really liked the car (and the price), so we were willing to overlook their mistake and wait a few more days for the car to be ready. To compensate us for our time and troubles my brother asked a simple courtesy question: "will the car have a full tank when I pick it up?" and the guy responded, "yea, a quarter-full" with a smirk on his face and walked out of the waiting room. I think that is what set me off. I felt that they had put us through enough, and our politeness about the situation must've been perceived as weakness. When I went in to speak with the gentleman, he completely changed his tune and was a bit more respectful. At that time, I requested the return on our deposit and told my brother I would not allow anyone to treat him in that manner and get a sale out of it. Emmons knows they have competitive prices, therefore, don't expect respectful or efficient service during the sales transaction. We were cash buyers buying a luxury import, I'd hate to see how they treat those who need financing. Emmons is the opposite of any typical used car dealership there is. (VERY long review... Sorry!!) We were just transferred to Houston for work and were suddenly burdened with the horrible task of having to buy a car. We decided on a used car for our needs, and thought it might be better to go through a dealership than just through Craig's List or something similar. After doing a lot of careful research, we decided on a dealership and narrowed down the list of cars we wanted to consider. Emmons was the obvious choice based on the stellar reviews online (a used car dealership with 4+ star average ratings everywhere we looked??!). We made an appointment (this is a must) with Lowell and drove out there to check out a couple cars. Lowell showed us the cars we came out to see and walked around the lot with us, letting us know whether or not cars we were interested in were in our price range. I was amazed at the fact that he never pushed us into looking at anything we didn't specifically ask about, and never tried to get us to go out of our price range. After test driving a couple cars, we decided on one and started the paperwork. Emmons doesn't negotiate on price, but they do provide you with a 200 mile guarantee (best price within a 200 mile radius). We also got the car for under KBB value!! The car we bought was not under any warranty, but we thought spending $1200 more for a warranty didn't make sense since we have insurance. After driving the car a week, we had a major problem with the oil gasket and all of the oil in the car poured out. This happened after 6PM, so Emmons was closed and we had to call AAA to tow our car to the nearest autoshop. The following weekend, we came in to pick up our plates and see if we could get reimbursed for the work done at the autoshop. One of the owners spoke with us himself and not only gave us a check for the full amount we had paid, but also offered to fix a couple minor problems we found with the car and provide us with a car from his lot while our car was being looked at. He also gave us his cell phone number so that we could call him directly to set up a time. Talk about customer service!! I would definitely recommend Emmons as the place to go if you need a used car. I liked my salesman and I like the used Jeep that I bought. But all is not well in the land. The reason, I only got one key FOB. The one I got is an after market FOB. How in the world, will we turn the alarm if we don't have a key FOB? I really have a hard time believing that the people who owned this beautiful Jeep lost both of their original key FOB's. We came in to take a look at a 2011 Lexus 570 on Saturday, September 26, 2020. Our sales associate, Britt H., was professional and allowed us to inspect the car however long we needed. However, when it came time to pricing of the vehicle the general manager, Greg G., was not pleasant to work with. Emmons listed price was over the "clean retail" NADA price and this vehicle was not "clean retail" standards. Bought a car there and the sales guy Was excellent and I applaud him however when you buy a car from someone as is or not when things are bad within the first 100 miles, like the check engine light comes on, the shocks are completely gone and sway bars and bushings, you bring it in they fix one thing but give you the wear and tear thing for the others after misdiagnosing the issue that is a problem. That is bad business and something to really think about when you do business with a dealership. Clearly the front to rear inspection is not as good and it is touted to be and leaves customers with a bad taste in their mouth about your dealership and tactics. Just really bad business. read more

Update: The Emmons GM contacted me regarding this issue. Apparently the car had been in line to be serviced and will be looked at by the service shop today. We are supposed to speak tomorrow regarding the condition of the car and he promised that if I was still interested they would take care of another pre-purchase inspection. The GM was apologetic and assured me this is not normal. From my prior conversations with the GM and salesman, I believed they were honest - especially the salesman who I would not hesitate to do business with in the future. That is why this entire thing threw me for a loop. I know life happens and things fall through the cracks and I'm hoping that is what happened here. I will update this post further after I speak with the GM again tomorrow. On my original post, I gave 1 out of 5 stars. I'm going to update to 3 out of 5 based on the fact that the GM is really trying to make this right. I will further update later based on what happens from here. My main goal is to make sure that this vehicle is not sold without known problems being disclosed whether I purchase the vehicle or not. We all know that used car dealers tend to have a bad rap and that leads us to sometimes expecting the worst. I will say I was impressed with the salesman and GM when I met them and expected the best from them. I'm still hopeful that this was just an oversight and that, in the end, it works out for everyone - regardless of if I end up purchasing the car or not. To be continued... Original post: Emmons appears to be selling at least one vehicle with known mechanical and computer issues. If they are doing it on one car, I imagine they may be doing it on others. My son and I test drove a grey 2015 Dodge Challenger R/T Plus at Emmons that we both really liked. We were ready to purchase the car and had agreed to a sales price and trade in value but opted to have a pre-purchase inspection completed by a third party before purchasing. During the pre-purchase inspection test drive, the power steering stopped working and then the very reputable shop gave us a 23 page report on things that were wrong with the vehicle. We shared the report with both the salesman and GM at Emmons and asked them to get back with us and let us know if they were going to be making any repairs. We never heard back and they won't answer our texts or emails. However, they still have the car listed for sale knowing that it has problems. Be very careful about purchasing vehicles from Emmons and make sure you do a pre-purchase inspection. It may save you a lot of headaches. read more

Emmons Motors has been in business since 1972 for a reason. They have the best selection of quality used cars in Houston. Our family has bought three cars from Emmons, and all of them have been excellent. They offer an up-front, no haggle, competitive price. Emmons does not have the cheapest cars in town, they have the best cars at the lowest price. To address some of the poor reviews, Emmons is probably a better choice for a buyer who actually has money, than for someone with marginal credit needing a loan. The sales staff is not inattentive, they are BUSY, they treat a serious customer seriously, and provide excellent service. In summary, if you want a commission salesman to blow smoke up your bum in a fancy dealership, or need 100% financing, Emmons may not be for you. If you want a good car, at a good price, I recommend them very highly. PS: It's a used car, Most of them are low mileage, recent year, reliable brand cars at a fair price, but they probably aren't perfect. I still think you improve your chances of getting a good car at a fair price if you buy from these guys. read more

Messaged the dealer at night and Scott Hinton called first thing the next morning. Easiest car buying experience of my life! I had already done my research on the vehicle (comparatively, Emmons offered the best deal) and secured my own financing. Within a couple of hours, I drove away as the owner. After a full day of being scammed by scheming shysters, and test-driving dangerous cars on their last sputtering leg, we decided to stop at one last lot before calling it a night. Best.Call.Ever. Benjammin was eager, but not overly so. He was helpful without hovering. We later found out we would be his first sale I had been burning the internet checking CarFax and AutoCheck, as well as review sites for both cars and dealers. It had been an incredibly long and frustrating day. Thankfully our experience went well. We had researched cars for a couple of days, so we knew what we were interested in. We had saved up cash, so we were able to make a significant down payment. My son's credit was non-existent, but with me co-signing, we were able to get the financing he needed. It is a no-haggle zone, but the cars are priced right where they should be (per Kelley Blue Book, CarFax, AutoCheck, and other valuation sites). It isn't a fancy car. It isn't a sports car. But it is the car we need. It is what my son needs. And it was priced right. The loan process took awhile, but we were there late. Fortunately I could get the car added to our insurance over the phone. If you are prepared and know what to expect, the car-buying experience doesn't have to suck. I made an apt to test drive a Jeep. Kevin was a sales rep. He is very kind, professional and knowledgeable. We were greeted promptly with vehicle ready for our test drive. Kevin is not pushy. Worst car buying experience! I located exactly what I was looking for in a jeep at Emmons Autoplex after spending months searching. Had all paperwork processed thru my credit union, dealership had the draft letter in hand, I drove in from 2+ hours away, to have the sales manager approach us 3 hours after sitting in the lounge of the showroom to inform us the vehicle had been sold to someone else while we waited.
