Amazing detroit style pizza. Crispy edges, flavorful dough. Delicious toppings .What's not to love. If you're expecting cookie cutter chain pizza, this is not for you. Will be back.

I walk past this establishment quite often on my way to the Staple Center. Long story shot, upon entering the place was empty, I was greeted with a friendly hello. I grabbed one square slice and was on my way. He heated it but it was still luke warm in the middle. The taste/flavor was really good but I was disappointed to pay almost $8 for a square slice of pizza that wasn't even wider than my hand . They have a deal if you go after a game you get a drink and slice for almost the same price, honestly that's the only way I'll go back.

We were going to a special performance at the Grammy Museum so we walked around LA Live looking for a relatively fast restaurant. I had never noticed this long corner spot that didn't look open because it was still hot and no one was eating at the very long outdoor patio. Inside you order at the counter and then take a number for service at tables and booths with flat screen TV's and some sports memorabilia. For me being Celiac, my first question was answered that all their Detroit style pizza could be made with a Gluten Free crust. The smallest was a rectangular 6 slices so I ordered a GF Margherita pizza and my brother got the Deluxe with onions, peppers and sausage. We couldn't have left overs and these are not thin crust, but the Detroit pizza crust is lighter, crunchy and a bit sweeter than the more dense Chicago deep dish pizza. We both surprisingly finished our pizzas and I was stuffed. Flavors were very good but could have used a bit more sauce. A very tasty pie with friendly staff.

I needed to grab a quick bite before going to the Grammy Museum and thought I'd give Emmy a try. They sell mostly whole pies, but have cheese and pepperoni by the slice, so I ordered one of each. At first, I thought the slices were a bit small, and looked a bit overcooked, but they were delicious! I love Detroit style pizza, and this is good Detroit style pizza. Nice crispy crust, tasty sauce, and a good amount of cheese. The two slices and a Coke plus tip was around $20. Service was quick, atmosphere was nice. I'm looking forward to trying their burgers sometime

Been curious about Emmy Squared for a while, and now there's finally a location within delivery range in DTLA. Delivery was reasonably quick, but the pizza definitely suffered from the trip. By the time it arrived, the crust had softened considerably from the steam. That said, this pizza reheats absurdly well. Five minutes at 425° on a pizza steel and it was basically a fresh-out-of-the-oven experience again. The biggest sticking point here is the value proposition. Not even the raw price itself, but the portion size relative to the cost. The pies are pretty small -- around the size of an XL glove -- and my order came out to roughly $80 delivered. If these were the size of two Prime Pizza Sicilians, I'd be thrilled. Even Hot Tongue square size would feel easier to justify. But these are tiny pies, and at this price point it definitely raises an eyebrow. I know, I know, I could just pick up for 30% less or whatever, but the point is that I can spend $80-$100 to get 2-3 pies delivered to me anywhere in Los Angeles County, so if it's not from here, it'll be somewhere else. As for the pizza itself: clean ingredients, clean bites, excellent crunch after reheating. Nothing individually mind-blowing, but everything works together well. The cheese gets beautifully melty, the sauce turns rich and comforting once reheated, and the whole thing becomes extremely satisfying. The dough itself wasn't especially notable structurally -- no dramatic crumb or fermentation character -- but the overall eating experience was still very good. I haven't looked at the other reviews yet, but if everyone got the same product I did, I'd guess the overwhelming complaint is probably portion size versus price.

Adding an update just to warn others. Besides wanting Detroit style pizza, I chose this location because it was listed as a participating restaurant to get parking validated at the LA Live garage. The worker said they don't validate the actual garage voucher tickets, but give a pre validated ticket for the garage. Upon exciting, the attendant said the given ticket was expired. I was within the time frame and went straight to the garage after. The machine eats the ticket so we couldn't see how old it actually was. I didn't put this into my initial review because I was hoping to settle the issue privately, but no one has returned my email. SO, if you're trying to take advantage of the free parking, check the ticket before leaving the restaurant. The pizza deal was decent, but not having to pay for parking good!

This place is so lucky they're conveniently located right next to the ridiculous Anime Expo badge pickup line - and had to use their bathroom (purchase necessary) - or else I would never step in here for their food alone; it won't survive, especially with their extremely overpriced quality. They had a limited menu paper at the counter (didn't realize they had other toppings available?) showing only basic pizza, so I ended up settling for that... why they didn't display the full menu (or was it limiting during lunch time?) Also they don't take cash. $30 for basic oily "Ronni overload" pepperoni... Reminds me more reasons why I dislike being in LA.

The pizza is excellent. I have never received worse service. I went to the Emmy Squared in Washington DC and really enjoyed the service there. The service in LA is a slap in the face. First of all there is no wait staff. You order by scanning a code and doing it yourself. There is no option not to tip. I'm glad I gave the minimum 15 percent. The pizza came out with no utensils. I asked for a knife and fork. The person serving the food said they are over there. Go get them yourself. I told him to get it and earn a tip. He brought back a plastic knife and fork. It's impossible to cut deep dish pizza with plastic. I explained this to the server. He snidely stated, "nobody else has a problem." I asked for the manager at that point and he doubled down on the plastic approach stating health concerns. I refused to accept this stupidity and berated him until silver ware was supplied. I spent close to 50 dollars here and this kind of indolence and laziness is not acceptable. I've included a picture of the silver ware I eventually received. Hold these clowns accountable. I enjoyed the pizza but everything else ruined the experience.

**This review is for the Big Matt Burger only** Went there on Friday evening. I didn't try their pizza but the Big Matt Burger was sooooo delicious! I was hesitant about the pretzel bun but everything tasted great together. The burger even had a little kick, yum! The staff at the register was super nice and helpful - she was patient and gave us time to think about our order without rushing us, showed us how to get water and even walked to our table to ask if we wanted additional sauces. Awesome service, thank you Emmy Squared Pizza!

Gabby and Lee we're like a well oiled machine. I gotta tell you they really really handled business like bosses. so I was waiting for the game to start grabbing a beer and just watching Gabby work was like a joy being that I'm in the hospitality industry. I love how she interacted with all of her guests. I love how she gave them options. I loved how quickly the food came out like everybody was like seriously a very well oiled machine. The place is clean. The vibe is fun. It's super close proximity to the crypto center. I'm telling you if I was starting any restaurant, Gabby is who I'm gonna want to be in charge of everything because that's how I felt that she had everything under control. She was the queen of everything and I love that for her. I love that for this company. They're lucky to have her. Do you hear me? Gabby needs a raise!!!

It was my first time here and it was empty. It's a pretty big place and I was surprised it was dead. Anyway, a friend ordered half and half margherita & pepperoni. It was average. You can come try and check it out for yourself and you be the judge.

Overpriced and very slow service! I walked in to get lunch and was surprisingly shocked by how high the prices are across the whole menu for a takeout spot with no dine-in seating. I ordered the cheesy garlic sticks and they pleasantly tasty and beautifully presented. But charging $15 and having me wait 20 mins after being told they would take 5 mins is just unexceptional. Also saw the burger sizes for others ordered and $20 for a burger with no fries makes no sense for a place like this.

As a fan of the Emmy Squared at Santa Monica Brew works, I was excited to see a new location open in downtime! It's a great location for a casual lunch during work or a bite before a game or concert. The pizza is on the pricier side but the portions are pretty large and can probably feed 2 people. It's dense Detroit style pizza and the staff was very friendly! They also have SM beers available.

PLEASANTLY SURPRISED! 4.8…read more Hatch is located on the ground level of The Bloc, an open-air shopping center in downtown Los Angeles. The restaurant offers outdoor seating overlooking the lovely green turf and provides tall heaters for cooler evenings. My husband made lunch reservations here and told me it was just a quick 10-15 minute walk from our hotel, The Ritz-Carlton. We crossed a few intersections to get there, and it was well worth the walk. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a warm and welcoming host. The ambiance is light and airy, featuring high ceilings, light-colored walls, and light wood furnishings. The overall aesthetic is clean, modern, and very inviting. We stopped in for a late lunch and ordered the "Eggcellent Lunch" prix fixe, which included the following: *Tuna Tataki Handroll ~ seared wild caught tuna, tomato & shallot salsa, rayu chili oil, ponzu, micro cilantro *Seaweed Salad ~ w/minced garlic. Served alongside the Tuna Tataki Handroll *Squid Ink Karaage ~ 2-day brined fried chicken thighs, squid ink, house pickles, grilled lime, black garlic ranch *Chicken Breast Skewer ~ char siu marinade, black sesame *Bacon Shishito Skewer ~ applewood smoked bacon *Chicken Meatball Skewer ~ sous vide egg yolk & tare dip Bottom line, everything had visual appeal and was packed with flavor! If we lived locally, we would definitely return for dinner. I have no doubt the rest of the menu would be just as tasty, and I can only imagine the restaurant coming alive in the evening with a lively crowd, happy diners, and a well-stocked bar.

HATCH is located inside The Bloc in Downtown LA. Pro tip: Make sure you get your parking ticket…read morevalidated before leaving--it brought our parking total down from $36 to $3! When we walked in around 4:50 PM, the place was empty and slow. We got to choose our table, and the server was quick to take our drink order, but service descended into "mid" quality pretty fast. The servers weren't very knowledgeable about menu basics (like wood chip types or vegan options) and ours spent a lot of time ignoring her tables while the bartender looked completely bored out of his mind. Drinks *Hakutsuru Junmai Hot Sake: Tasted harsh, almost like rubbing alcohol. *Lemon Freeze Highball: Refreshing and the best of the cocktail bunch. *Momo Waves & Honey, Honey: Extremely whiskey-forward to the point of overpowering all other flavor notes. My friend has a cocktail smoking kit at home and said the smoked drink was a hard pass. I ended up ordering a Kimino Peach Sparkling soda (which wasn't for me) and passed it to my friend so he could use it to water down his Momo Waves. The Food The tapas delivery pacing was frustrating; bringing out one item at a time when you're hungry creates a stressful dining experience. More importantly, the execution was severely lacking across the board--there was zero char, no depth of marinade, and a complete lack of seasoning or spice. *Unagi ($12): Undercooked, soft, and mushy skin. If you're serving fish skin-on, it needs to be crispy. *Yaki Onigiri ($4): Sad disappointment. It came without a seaweed wrap; instead, the top and bottom were fried so hard they were practically unchewable. It tasted like burnt popcorn mixed with inedible fried Rice Krispies. The sauce was the only redeeming part. *Chicken Breast ($12) & Thigh ($4.90): The chicken thigh was good, but the breast was very strange--dry on the outside yet soft enough inside that it felt like it needed more cook time. *Lamb Lollipop ($15): The absolute last straw. You could smell the gamey-ness before it even reached the table. The steam hit my mouth with that heavy gaminess, and I couldn't even chew it. This place seems aimed at people who want meat in its rawest, unseasoned state--I need actual spices, love, and care in my food. *HATCH Greens ($18) & Agedashi Tofu ($6): My friend enjoyed the greens without complaint and said the tofu was fine. *Dessert & Final Thoughts We tried to end on a sweet note with the Binchotan Brownie ($14), but the brownie tasted like a cheap, pre-packaged wrapper brownie that had been frozen, thawed out, and dressed up with toppings. For a $150 tab, the "kitchen appreciation fee" and leaving hungry is a cardinal sin. Stop charging customers to pay the wages to your employees...We literally had to head straight to Hibachihana Grill right after just to get a satisfying meal. The menu has potential on paper, but the kitchen execution just isn't there. The only highlight of the entire dinner was the projection of SpongeBob playing on the wall.
