This was such a phenomenal experience from the time we walked into the time we left. Our waiter was great. He gave us amazing suggestions like the incredible rice cake spicy tuna rice cake that is definitely a favorite now and also the firecracker roll. All of the rolls were truly phenomenal. What a wonderful experience. The ambience was really Everything was fresh and delicious and we will definitely be back.!

Food: 5/5 Price: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 5/5 Food: 5/5: Excellent quality sushi. We ordered Uni, Salmon, Toro, Tuna, Hokkaido scallop and all were nigiri. We also had chicken karage and a blue crab roll. Each of the sushi were excellent quality and taste. We ended up a second round of Uni and salmon and to top it off the chef gave us a complementary seared yellowtail which blew our taste buds out of the water. Price: 5/5: The prices were reasonable for the quality. I would go as far and say it was a great value for the quality and taste. To quote a Japanese YouTuber, the "cost performance" was excellent. Overall for all the food plus tax, tip, and drinks, we paid about $150 (22% of price was tip). Service: 5/5: Excellent all around. We never felt rushed and it never seemed over bearing. Food came out quickly, and efficiently. Servers were attentive. Ambiance: 5/5: a clean, almost home like feel. Music was good and not blasting away your ear drums. And as a former dog owner (RIP Chibi) i love how they named the restaurant after their dog Kombu. And they even have items for dogs on their menu!

The very best sushi spot! The story of the restaurant is super sweet, they are dog-friendly, and they have soooo many options on their menu, including lots of vegetarian options and accommodations for gluten-free needs. The staff is very friendly! There is seating inside (tables and along the sushi bar) and a patio in the back. There's even a Photo Booth in the back by the patio. A very great place to bring family and friends in Silver Lake. Absolutely love it.

The first thing I wanna mention is the fact that the staff are all very helpful and super friendly. I started off with the spicy tuna on crispy rice and it was tasty, but I like it when the rice is hot. At this place, the rice was not hot. I also had the cucumber salad, which is quite tasty. We were on our E Bikes and there were lots of outlets out in the patio area of the building itself. But for some reason, none of them were working and we couldn't charge our bikes. Thank goodness that the staff at the restaurant were nice and we managed to get electricity from them. I hope the building Gets the information that will help people so they can charge their Ebikes when needed. We will definitely be back to this restaurant in the future because was tasty and the staff are so friendly.

My first meal of 2026 and Kombu did not disappoint! The quality of the fish was exceptional. We ordered a few rolls, chicken karaage and the sashimi platter which came with side of soup and salad. The waiter provided excellent service and made a few suggestions as it was our first time there. The atmosphere was cozy and best of all, they are dog friendly!

Another sushi spot in LA for the books!! Cute spot in Silver lake. came on a Sunday evening, seated pretty quickly in the bar area. Food was very tasty. Fresh seafood and prepped really well.

We really enjoyed this place! The sushi was excellent and the service was incredible. It's in a super cozy spot in LA's' Arts District. More importantly, they are 100% dog friendly and make it a wonderful experience for both humans and puppies.

Great place! Staff was super friendly and very attentive. They have a pretty extensive HH menu and everything was very reasonably priced. Garage parking with validation or free street parking. The miso soup, egg plant and sashimi place were some of my favorites.

Loved this restaurant! The lanterns outside are so cute in gradient pink tones. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. We went around 2pm for a late lunch and it was not super busy. The happy hour starts at 3pm. They are very veg and gluten free friendly. They even have a plant-based spicy tuna roll which is made with beets and tasted great! The bento boxes they offer are a great way to get a taste of an assortment of items all at once without getting stuffed. We enjoyed the food a lot and service was great too! The cherry on top of the meal was the mochi ice cream. Two people got this, one in the yuzu coconut flavor and one strawberry. They were both well loved and the presentation was so adorable with garnish and little poki sticks!

I chose this place for our bookclub meeting as I was searching for a place with vegetarian friendly bento boxes! The offerings were all delicious! The mushroom soup is very mushroom-y, the miso soup os served at the perfect temperature and comes out before the main meal. Drinks were strong. The dipping sauce for rhe veggie tempura was a bit bland considering the vegetables were unflavored too. Great variety of veggies though! Service was slow which made it tricky with the 1.5 hour parking validation but we managed to wrap up with a little top off on our parking. The mochi was delicious too and was so cute with the pocky sticks on top!

came for there sunday jazz series! amazing vibes here and great deals on rolls for their happy hours - California roll -4/5 nothing crazy! fresh fish - Shrimp & Tempura - 5/5 - tempura was so good ,crispy and fresh (highly recommend) - Spicy Tuna - 4/5 - could've used a bit more spice but still tasty - Salmon Skin Roll - 3/5 - too salty imo, not a fan of the texture - Albacore roll - 4/5 - solid roll to order - Miso Soup -4/5 - avg miso soup, tasty and hot - Chicken Karaage - 4/5 - mm so good with the sauce, it's boneless but 1 or 2 pieces did have some bone so be careful - Satsuma Fries -5/5 amazing!! loved the sauce, the texture and portion size! (highly recommend) would def come back for the vibes, great service, and to taste all the other rolls they have to offer. *bonus was the $1 sake and beers (what a deal)

    Nirvana Roll
    Anh N.

This is one of those places where nothing is wrong with it, but there's nothing compelling about it either. We got a specialty roll, a yellow tail cut roll, and a kid's meal which came in a bento box. The nirvana roll had a good fish to rice ratio, and plenty of interesting bits like the citrus and microgreens. The yellowtail was fine too, but nothing really stood out. It's a cute space with a lot of seating, so I'd stop by if I was already in the area, but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here.

What is and when is happy hour?

3-6pm ... variety of sushi and appetizers

Do you need to make reservations?

You can but not required. Book at Kombula.com

Is this the place where they have sushi for dogs?

We have a pet menu - choice of chicken or salmon with brown rice. Some customers will order sashimi for their dog off the regular menu. Kombu’s favorite is yellowtail sashimi. Hope to see you soon : )

Is this establishment good for kids?

Although it definitely sports a hipster vibe, I see no reason why it would not be family friendly.

The black fried rice was good as well but on the sweet side. We also really liked the Grilled Fuji Apple for dessert. The other dishes were okay. The hamachi handroll lacked hamachi flavor and I mostly tasted the sauce. The miso beer spare ribs, chicken meatball, and onigiri were way too sweet for our liking. I wanted to love the beef tongue but there was way too much of the topping and it really should be on the side. The vibe of Hatch was nice. Their service was pretty good. And if we come back again, we would definitely get their Eggcelent Set Menu.

The menu is inviting with plenty of great options without being overwhelming. Less is more. But let's talk art (culinary, that is). The dishes certainly deserve main features. To start "the best Caesar salad in LA" and I quote which was certainly true. Grilled octopus charred on the inside and juicy at the center. Spicy pomodoro is perfectly al dente and a well-balanced sauce. But, my favorite-- the agnolotti! Wow, melt in your mouth! The flavor profiles of corn, crème fraiche, and old bay were delicious. My only wish -- larger serving of this (smallest pasta serving on the menu). To complete it, banana pudding tiramisu -- delicious too with a firm center and oozy outside. Atala was wonderful and very sweet. Recommendation: come with a group of at least 4 to try more on the menu -- the large plates (branzino and ribeye) looked excellent! Definitely a worthwhile visit.

We came on a Thursday night as a group of four and the place was pretty busy. From everything I've heard, Cento is one of the more popular pasta spots in LA right now, so I was excited to finally try it. We started with the radicchio salad which was delicious. Light, refreshing, and tangy, a great way to start the meal. For pasta, we ordered the Spicy Pomodoro, Sweet Corn Agnolotti, Broccoli Bucatini, and the Cavatelli Finocchio. Honestly, it was hard to pick a favorite because every single one was excellent. The pasta was cooked perfectly al dente, the sauces were flavorful, and each dish felt unique. My only complaint is that the portions are a little small. I understand they're meant for sharing, but to be honest I probably could have eaten all four by myself. At around $30 per plate, this definitely isn't a cheap meal. One thing that was a little disappointing was that it was my fiancée's birthday and I had noted it on the reservation. We noticed another table receiving what looked like a special birthday dessert, but nothing was mentioned for us. My fiancée didn't want me to ask about it, so we just let it go and ended up getting dessert elsewhere. Not a huge deal, but it was a bit of a letdown. That said, the food itself was absolutely outstanding. If you're a pasta lover, this place is definitely worth checking out.

Beautiful plants hanging, perfect Spanish music in the background (any place playing Natalia LaFourcade is a win). The drinks were great! I had the jungle bird which was fun. Food was so good too. The whipped beans are the star! We had the guacamole which was tasty, great tostadas with it. The arepas were good but the pork belly was a little too fatty (I know pork belly is always fatty) to the point the fat muted the flavored for the arepa a bit, but still delicious. One dish that doesn't work for me is the lamb chops, which is a shame since it's my favorite protein. I've ordered them multiple times with clear instructions on temperature and have found them overcooked and tough. The beef tostada was just ok.
