Going to rub some people the wrong way here but I just don't think the pizza lives up to the hype. The pizza is just pretty bland and the crust has little to no flavor. I hear most people talk about the burger (I haven't had it yet but it does look phenomenal) over the pizza. That kind of adds to my frustration as more people talk about a burger from a pizza place than the actual pizza. read more

We decided to give Emmy Square a try since we were craving a cold one and good pizza. Husband and I both so wanted to like this place, the space is lovely and light filled and we were a fan of previous tenants. We stopped in around 5:30pm on a Saturday and it wasn't busy at all so we got a table right away. First disappointment is they have no beer on draft. I was a bit taken aback, a pizza place with no tap beer? They have a list of IPA centric beers available, some local, so we chose one to share. Next issue- what to order since we eat vegan. We chose the shaved Brussels sprout salad (hold the blue cheese) and a pizza for our main. The salad was good, chopped fine and full of red onion, dried cherries and shaved sprouts but we think they did put the blue cheese in after all. We couldn't actually see it since the salad is chopped fine but we thought we could taste it. By the time we realized this we'd already eaten quite a bit of the salad so there was no sending it back. They have two vegan pizzas with unique preparations on the menu so we shared one called The Larry. Larry came with vegan cheese, roasted cauliflower, spinach, sweet hot chili glaze, raisins and pine nuts with a parsley pesto base. The pizzas are deep dish and come served on a wire rack over a pan. We quickly knew what the rack was for since there was a pool of oil under our pizza slices. We really liked the unique combinations of ingredients for this pizza, but the oil was a bit overwhelming. Our server didn't come back for a while so I grabbed a pepper shaker from the stand, it was so sticky and dirty on the outside I didn't want to use it. Overall service was friendly enough and I think this place may be better suited for meat eaters who don't care about having a good draft beer with their pizza. read more

The gluten free pizza was some of the best pizza we have ever had. Highly recommended the Hawaiian and the Colony.

Great location, where Sheps used to be. Order at the counter when you walk in. Seat yourself. We got the cheesy garlic sticks and the VIP pizza along with 2 local canned beers. The cheesy garlic sticks were so divine! I was so happily surprised. They have a drizzle of fresh pesto and were hot when served. I also really loved the pizza! It's Detroit style so of course deep dish but not too heavy! Jose (who I think is the manager) came by to check in on us and he is so kind. He recommended we try the sheps pizza or the marche pizza next time which both sound unique and tasty. I think he said the Sheps is like a Reuben and the marche has smoked salmon. I think somewhat overpriced but what isn't in this damn city???? Will come back- would like to try their brunch! read more

Called to ask for delivery and was told they could not help so threw out the order. Worst service ever! Technical difficulties on their end and they make a profit on me. Food was mediocre at best which we can deal with if the service is great. The service was awful. The young person that waited on us had no personality. Would put the food down and walk away. I love Emmy squared (their GF crust is bar none the best around) but always order delivery. Went with a friend to this location for the first time and was wildly disappointed. The service was terrible and it was FREEZING. We tried a couple tables to find one that didn't have AC blowing directly on it and asked our server, very nicely if they could turn the AC down and her only response was "no, sorry." Everyone around us had jackets, hats and even scarves on halfway through their meals. Like come on, you have to see your customers are cold. From that point on she was very impolite, didn't check in on us and clearly didn't care about the experience. Our food took forever to come out (a table that arrived 10 minutes after us had all their pizzas and ours still didn't come out for a good 10 more minutes after that) and was ok, but undercooked and my pizza wasn't cut. I mentioned it to the server who brought it out (note that ours was still mia at the bar, we could see her ignoring us) and they dead pan asked if I wanted them to take it back and cut it. I mean, yes... I would like to be able to eat the pizza without picking up the entire thing. Just so unimpressed with the whole dine in experience. Probably a reason they were dead at 6 pm. I am a New York pizza snob, but I do appreciate the Detroit squared variety... This place showed up a few weeks ago and I figured I owed it to myself to try it out. The first thing I noticed was that they didn't have anchovies on the menu, but when I asked if they had them I was told they did. So my square pizza had sausage, mushrooms, and then anchovies! Basically a $25 extravaganza, and would've been great to split between two people... So I did end up taking half of it home, but the half I ate in the restaurant was absolutely delicious! Plus the service was incredibly friendly and helpful. I recommend you give it a shot. On the east side of town this place absolutely holds its own! read more

This place offers nothing unique in a part of town with lots of good food. The pizza is not particularly special. There's better pizza at 5 Points less than a block away. I went with the intent of trying the hamburger, which apparently won several awards over the years in the Nashville Scene. That was before seeing the $17 price tag on it that came with no side. Regardless of how good it is there is no burger in the world worth $17, especially one that requires another $7 for fries on the side. Not to mention there are great burgers down the road at Dino's (and Pharmacy, if you're into the that). Can't see this place surviving here. Nothing against the great staff that run this place, wish they were still running Shep's Deli, which existed in its place before. #bringshepsback read more

Pizza was superb! The crunchy crust was cooked to perfection making even the corner slices delicious! The only good thing was the breadsticks. Everything is overpriced especially for the portions. The pizzas lacked flavor, soggy crust, and way too greasy. This place is bogus and more of a touristy place. Save ur money and go get real pizza elsewhere. I would give a half star if I could just for the cheesy breadsticks. read more

My family didn't really enjoy anything we got I wish maybe I would have tried something different, it was delivery so maybe that had something to do with it but it just really wasn't my favorite I love pizza but personally thought the sauce cheese ratio on my pepperoni pizza was not quite right at all way to much sauce the pesto wasn't exactly my favorite on the cheese sticks either the angel pizza sounded so good but the mushrooms on it were not very tasteful at all (I like mushrooms) I tried to take them off but the taste wouldn't leave and for the price I definitely felt like I was getting was more than what seemed to be a personal pizza.
