If you don't want to read my long review below, here's a summary- Its very beautiful inside, and the empanadas I ordered tasted amazing and are perfect for nearly anyone (even picky eaters). (Long part) I was looking for a good empanada place and found a great one. I was slightly puzzled by the straightforward name, but the reviews were positive- and for good reason! Before I talk about the food, I just want to acknowledge the look of the restaurant. I love the whole vibe of it. There's bright, happy yellow splotches over a clean white. It has great aesthetics. My spirits were lifted instantly just walking in! I ordered the ham and cheese, the sweet corn and basil, and the spinach (special of the day). They were all fantastic and I have nothing really bad to say. Not to mention that each empanada had a unique shape! The ham and cheese is good for pickier eaters like me- it really is just ham and cheese. While the ham and cheese was good, I was blown away by the sweet corn and basil. There's not much to say. I really loved it. Great for picky eaters, and tasted incredible at the same time. Not all foods have both qualities! As for the spinach empanada, I did really like it. But I am a bit sensitive to some textures, so I could only eat two bites. If you're not a mega weirdo like me though, you will most certainly love it. Each "Argentine style" empanada is made by hand, freshly baked and you can seriously taste the amount of care that's put into each one. I read the "About" from Empanada Kitchen. Well, we have an idea where the empanadas come from. Most of the Spanish that moved or migrated to Argentina are from Galicia, they're Gallegos. The Gallegos make empanadas that are baked in half baking sheets. Some of their most popular ones are the seafood ones bc they're next to the Atlantic Ocean. The type of empanadas that the Argentinians make are called 'Empanadillas' in Spain. In any case, they're delicious and worth every penny, so go treat yourself and enjoy. They not that flavorful and are missing chopped pieces of hard boiled egg and I only saw two finely diced pieces of olives. Each empanada comes with complimentary chimichurri sauce, which is made fresh every single day. A lot of places mess up the chimichurri sauce, but not Empanada Kitchen. I opted for the caprese, mushroom and goat, and veggie. The caprese, which is pizza-like, was my favorite. So good and flavorful, but nothing overpowering. The mushroom and goat was just a notch below. It would be at the top of my list if the caprese weren't out of this world. The veggie, to be honest, was not my favorite. The taste is a little bit off, though that may be because it is vegan. Service was friendly and prompt, and I was able to get there, eat, and get back before my boss even noticed I was gone. He decided to get a Coke for $3. After eating my very delicious non-greasy empanada. My son decided that he wanted to stay there eat some more and get a couple salads for us. He also ordered a sweet corn empanada. I did have half of it but it was too sweet for me . It definitely would make a nice dessert with a cup of coffee . The cashier working that day was a young gentleman who helped me immediately upon my arrival , he asked me how my day was going which was great way to start my experience here , he then shares with me the empanada flavors and I proceeded to ordering ten of the veggie ones with the sauce they provide , I also add on some Alfajores . He was very fast and friendly throughout my whole experience. When I got home the empanadas were still fresh and warm , the taste was out of this world delicious in every bite . Empanada Kitchen has done it again. This is their second location and they've reached the same level of culinary excellence. At the downtown location I'd tried nearly every type of empanada with chicken and beef being my two favorites. However, the owner Dan recommended I try the lamb, braised in malbec (couldn't be more Argentinian) and along with the complementary chimichurri, was perfection. The new location is just as casual and friendly as the last location. The staff is always friendly moving quickly, so if you're ever in a rush or on a lunch break, this is your spot. Meeting the owners, and knowing that they are great people, makes it all a better experience in and of itself.
