Dulce de Leche and Keylime Bola
Joe S.

Empanada. Co is a must!! This was the most delightful experience. My wife and I have been wanting to try this place for a while now, and it did not disappoint! Everything on the menu looks delicious so naturally we had to try several empanadas and the bola's. We can't say enough about how delicious every empanada was! And the bolas were also so delicious! We had the pleasure of meeting the owners and had a lovely conversation, they are the nicest people! They also mentioned that they get their cheese from Argentina, which makes all the difference! The decor and ambiance is fantastic and if you're a 90's fan you'll love sitting on the famous "Friends" couch! Highly recommend and will be back soon!

Friendly service Pleasant music playing in the background Super fun looking restaurant with rustic seating area and board games. Food was very good, I liked the regular chicken better than the tinga one. Both ground beef were good and we really liked their sauces. Just not a lot of food for the price.

Great friendly owners that make the most delicious empanadas I've had in a while. Had a sample box, loved the meet with lots of olives and egg, very traditional Argentinian, I believe that's Felicia's mom's recipe. The space is bright, colorful and artsy. Will definitely be going back when in town.

The sweetest family owns this place! DELICIOUS empanadas. So excited to see a new place replacing the Even Stevens that used to be here. They have breakfast empanadas and tons of other flavors, including a rotation of monthly flavors as well. Their egg and cheese was delicious - light and not too filling. Can't wait to come back!

Where flavor and nostalgia meet! First thing you notice when you walk into Empanada .Co? That big orange couch and the fun Friends references all around--"I'll Be There for You," "Central Perk"--such a cool, unexpected touch. You instantly feel welcome. As we walked up to the counter, the smell of fresh empanadas cooking in the back hit us--and it was amazing. Here's what we tried: * Margarita - That mozzarella cheese pull was unreal. I should've recorded it because it just kept going! * Meatball * Ground Beef * Ham & Cheese - Their most popular, and I get why. * Chicken - My favorite! Perfectly seasoned with peppers and that flaky crust... chef's kiss. Each empanada is stamped with the name of its filling right on the crust, which is such a smart and fun detail--no guessing, just grab and enjoy! Each one had its own distinct flavor, all wrapped in golden, flaky pastry. We each had a bottle of Coke from the big glass fridge (love that touch), and I also had a cookie that I inhaled so fast I forgot to catch the name--whatever it was, it was delicious. We got to chat with who I believe was the owner, who mentioned they drop new empanada flavors every month. Next up? Hawaiian Teriyaki--yes, please! Can't wait to come back for that. The vibe is fun, bright, and laid-back. It's got that local mom-and-pop charm, with plenty of space and easy parking. Super wallet-friendly too, which is always a bonus. They had some amazing-looking pastries I'll definitely be back to try. Bottom line: This place is there for you... especially when you need something flaky, cheesy, and made with love.

Lunch special: 2 empanadas, salad and drink

I was very impressed with how delicious and flavor each empanada was. The service was friendly and educational, she helped me make a quick decision. The 90's mechanic look was fun and different than what I'm used to seeing. The big garage windows brought in light and made the colors brighter. I would recommend if you are wanting something easy to each and flavorful!

love this cute shop with so much fun decor and super yummy flaky warm empanadas! Took about 4 minutes to get my order and was so warm and filling. Will definitely be back for another bite!

Ham and cheese and Chicken Empanadas with house sauce and Chimichurri dip. Delicious!!!

I am so happy to contribute another 5 star review!! I have been missing an empanada restaurant, but now there is one that I HIGHLY RECOMMEND! And take a minute to speak to the owner, she will truly become a dear friend!! Where to start... The Pastry is so light and savory, but it does not fall apart. Not doughy at all, it is everything a GREAT pastry should be. Then.....you get to what's inside and the flavors are so full and rich! I looked at the board of 17 (yes 17) different ones and how am I supposed to choose, so, I asked the owner to choose her 3 best ones and bring them out. She did and brought out a Ground beef, a chicken, and a ham and cheese, with a small cup of a house chimichurri dip and a house fry sauce like dip and a house red sauce salsa like dip. The Ground Beef: The first bite I took was this one and it was so succulent, flavorful and rich. The seasonings were robust but not over powering and it tasted like a best home cooked dish. When I asked her about it she smiled and said "that is my mother's recipe" No wonder it was so good! The Chicken: Think of a roasted chicken that is picked and then mixed with seasonings and spices and vegetables and rolled into a tiny pie for one person and that is this one! (I guess you could share but I didn't want to let this one go either) Again with the richness of the flavors but chicken instead of beef. WOW!! The Ham and Cheese: The perfect blend of thinly sliced ham with melted cheese, all rolled up into a perfect pastry! Any kid ( young or old) will love this one too! I was actually kinda sad when this one and all of them were gone. I tried all of the sauces on all of these and the variety of combinations were all delicious. In the end there were no sauces (or empanadas for that matter!) left at all. I also shared a cookie and a dessert croissant that was evil good, the kind you could eat a dozen of all by yourself. Both were amazing and disappeared quickly. If you want a delightful change of pace for a lunch or dinner that you could find something for every single member of your family, this place will be sure to please. Bottom line is if you want great tasting food, served in the perfect pastry, to enjoy while sitting on a couch or at a table with friends or on a nice shady afternoon patio, this IS, HANDS DOWN, NO BATTLES, THE PLACE TO GO! You are welcome!!!

Went there last week with my family for the first time and I can't believe I never been there before!! The restaurant is simple but so cute.. I can see it being a great place to go after work/ day off to enjoy a good Argentinian empanada and relax .. nice environment.. We got different empanadas and we all agree the cheese one and Hawaiian were the best.. I didn't like the chicken or ground beef because it needed more flavor for my taste.. they are soooo fresh the dough was so good! The staff were so friendly and nice. I'll definitely stop by soon to try new flavors

Wonderful empanadas and great service. Will def be going back. We tried the pep, cheese, Italian meatball, ground beef, 4 cheese and breakfast ones. All were great.

Happy to see a new spot open up in the old even stevens location! I tried the shredded beef, margherita, and buffalo chicken empanadas. The margherita and buffalo chicken were my personal favorites. Hoping to try other flavors such as the mac and cheese next time if it's not sold out!

Love that an Argentine empanada spot opened up in sugarhouse! Being Argentine and from CA, it's hard to find Argentine cuisine elsewhere. The place is cute, open, and welcoming. Impressed with the chicken empanada, not greasy at all and flavors were awesome. Great Chimichurri! Valentina was so sweet and gifted me a Havana bizcocho. Yum! Fast and kind service.

I ordered , the beef , the margherita & the potato egg & cheese !

Usually I make my own empanadas from scratch for New Years Eve to share with my in-laws side of…read morefamily but I in such a bind with work and knew there was no way I could make my own empanadas in time for NYE. I only make empanadas for people I really like on rare occasions because empanadas take me like 5 hrs to make and gobbled up by everyone in 5 minutes. Ugh! The part I don't enjoy is making a lot of empanadas. I don't even buy pre made tapas, I make the dough literally from scratch. Takes forever and can be messy. Also hate it if I roll too thin and the empanada breaks open when trying to fold its irritating. Something to keep in mind when you want your Argentine friend to make empanadas. You must be a great friend if they make you some. Yes the empanadas sold here are more like empanaditas but it's a problem I see in pretty much any place that sells empanadas. Street tacos are small too and cost 2.50 a piece in some places. For me it was whether I wanted to make several dozen empanaditas all on my own from start to finish (no) or find someone who can help make them. I bought a few dozen empanaditas ready to bake so all the hard work is done and out of the way! When I picked up my order I also got some empanadas to go. I'm used to loading my beef empanadas with more cooked onions (empanadas mendoncinas are loaded with onion) but these ones weren't bad. Also liked the lemon beef and veggie (like a samosa), those were new. Happy they could help me with my request and finally be able to try them out!

Everyone is so friendly and the service is quick. I remark every single time about how quick they are to serve us our food. They have remembered my family and bring us our drinks without even needing to ask. Their food is delicious, and we appreciate the authenticity. If you haven't been, and aren't near by to partake in their amazing food regularly, you HAVE to try the Philly asada omelet. You won't regret it!! I saw a comment about the restaurant being dark, but the lighting seems great. Anything much brighter would probably upset my eyes, especially early in the morning (as that's when we typically go). Someone also mentioned the wait is long. The restaurant isn't huge, and if you go at a time when everyone else is also going, usually any time after 9, then of course it'll be busy. Go early and it'll be faster, but either way, the wait is completely worth it. Thank you, to the Our Kitchen Cafe family for being so kind to me and my family. We appreciate your business and hope you continue to succeed!

Cafe Guanico solved my papusa & Salvadorian horchata craving…read more My go-to papusas are the loroco/cheese and zucchini/cheese. Both of the papusas I got were fresh, had a good amount cheese, and the veggies were delicious. They do include the salad and tomato sauce on the side. The horchata isn't just a regular rice and water drink. There's a bunch of seeds and toasted rice blended together so you get a real nutty and almost smoke flavour. This is my 2nd favorite kind of Horchata. I've never had chapulines and a family member wanted to try them so I got a side of those as well. They didn't taste like much, mostly salty, sour, crunchy and a toasted flavor. I only ate a few because I started having flashbacks to insect videos on YouTube which have permanently ruined my eyesight. I'll definitely come back when I'm in town.

Well, the soup alone is a meal and a hearty one. The broth was delicious and included large chunks of carrots, like two whole potatoes, two pieces of chicken (wasn't my fav part but oh well), and delicious rice on the side.... and two tortillas. The papusas were hot and delicious and extremely filling. The cabbage slaw topping and salsas and everything in general was clearly fresh. Whatever you order will definitely satisfy your appetite. And for anyone wondering about what a Tlaytudas is we didn't order the dish but it looked like an El Salvadoran pizza. Def a meal for two.

Those pictures posted to their Google Maps are old and don't show it either, apart from some mentions on a marker board. The setting is good and the service is friendly and patient. I had not had Nicaraguan food before and while it has some elements of other Latin cuisines, I benefited from descriptions and recommendations from the host. I settled on a Fritanga, which was a massive plate of beans and rice, grilled pork, grilled steak, plantain chips, half of a soft plantain, a slaw, and came with fried cheese. I got a small, and now have some nice leftovers. On the side I got some boiled cassava "yuca mojo" which had a tasty sauce and was topped with onions. I have had fried but this was my first time with boiled. With a little salt this was very good. Everything in the Fritanga was delicious. It came with a couple of sauces. I found that the creamy mayonnaise-like sauce went well with the grilled pork, and the pickle-y sauce went well with the steak. I would have liked to have had more of each of these. The fried cheese is just that. No extra ingredients, just some oil to fry it. Not sure what kind of cheese. It came off a bit salty. As I was asking for boxes to take all my leftovers home, the host offered me a piece of Tres Leches Cake. This is light and delicious with a nice cream on top. Very nice of them to offer. I wish I had taken a picture of the menu. There are many other Nicaraguan offerings that sound good. A great meal and enough for another!
