We might have just found our new favorite pizza spot. I love it when a place has several things that are great, today we ordered a few things and they were all amazing. Pizza was excellent not soggy and limp, the buffalo fries are crazy good (a must try and big enough to share) the salad was great and comes in 2 sizes which is an excellent idea in case you want it as your meal or a side to go along with a slice of pizza, my husband had the meatball sub...he inhaled it before I was able to ask for a taste, so it had to of been delicious enough not to share. Place was very clean and the staff was extremely helpful and friendly, we will most definitely be returning soon. read more

I ordered the alfredo pasta, a large supreme pizza, and a large meat lovers pizza. I initially was pleasantly surprised that the meat lover's pizza was fully of toppings, then I realized it was too salty for my liking because there were so many topping. For the supreme pizza, I was disappointed because the vegetables were diced and there weren't as many vegetable toppings as meat toppings. The supreme pizza also felt soggy to me. I think it was due to the mushrooms being cooked on the pizza, but I'm not sure. It just felt wet, so I didn't like it. (I usually like my pizza dry and crispy). Lastly, the alfredo pasta just tasted like pasta and milk that is lightly sweet. I also didn't like the texture of the pasta. read more

I went on a weekday towards the middle afternoon. Everything looked super tasty and apparently weekends they have more variety. There were around 8 different flavors and styles available along with salads and garlic balls. I refrain from calling them garlic knots, which I think they are going for (btw are delicious) but they structurally seems more like rolls to me. My sister-in-law opted for the white pizza and my niece had the cheese. Normally my niece does not eat the crust, but on this one she devoured it. This is the 3rd establishment in this location and though I've liked the past Hawaiian restaurant that was here, unfortunately its gone. Hope this one stays around and I look forward to coming back. read more

Trash.i waited at the store for 25 minutes after waiting 25 before leaving to pick my food only to get a skimpy bowling ally concession stand quality carb bomb which they call the fat bastard sandwich. I was super excited to eat here and was really pumped about the fat bastard and I think this is safely the biggest disappointment in food I have ever experienced. Sandwich is supposed to have Philly cheesesteak on it among other things and instead had what amounted to be philly cheese dust. There was probably less than a quarter oz of steak in the entire 14 inch sandwich. The guys who helped me were unapologetic about the wait as well. There pizza did look very good and maybe I just ordered the wrong thing but this is supposed to be one of their flagship items, so I was very disappointed. read more

Not only was my pizzas hot and salad fresh, um when delivered there were placed separately so the heart wouldnt wilt the greens. Greatly appreciate the delivery driver gong the extra mile on this. We ordered the grandma's pie and this looks like something you would get from an authentic Italian restaurant! Lots of chunky tomatoes, fresh cheese and basil spread well that each piece gives you a perfect bite of flavor. Our kids pizza was topped with big abd thick slices of Italian sausage and pour lil one gobbled down 3 slices (very rare). I had ordered a Barbeque Spicy Chicken with Anchovies pizza, they did not have any pepper container for me I had asked for more napkins because the napkin holder were out, so I had to take a hand full of napkins from it's holder only to get to have a fight with one of the owners that were Arabians brothers wanted to take a chain hit at a disabled man, I hold him don't you dear talk to me in that tone of voice when you have elven other napkin holders on the table, but why would you have these holders filled when you simply do not have a lot of customers eating at your restaurant especially when social distance should be put in place. These Arabian brother need to go back to culinary college and learn customer service. I'm still puzzled as to why would you give some five stars to a restaurant that delivers cold pizza, I strongly suggest that you go to another Pizza Restaurant that can match good customer service with good food these brother are rude and very nasty toward good paying customers. As Executive Chef and General Manager I would bring back a couple of food items that were takin off of the menus especially the eggplant pizza, etc. read more

Really good pizza. Dough is tossed onsite. I'm guessing made onsite also--could be wrong. Got a slice of White Pie, which was ricotta, Parmesan and mozzarella. Personally, I liked I it better when I removed the ricotta Didn't like the texture on the pizza. Also had a personal Eggplant Rollatini pizza. Asked for no marinara and to add olive oil instead. Pizza took a while to come and it had full marinara sauce The slices were good, but for the amount of time I waited, I would have appreciated if it were made right. Too long of a wait to send back and had other plans, so I ate it. Daughter got a cheesesteak sandwich and liked it. Next time she said she'll get extra cheese. So if I could I would give 5 stars to the food because it was delicious and our past orders have also been amazing, when it comes to the food. But this past time we ordered it was the service, unfortunately. In the past the service was okay, ran by some kids who weren't really "focused" and kinda didn't care I guess you can say but wasn't terrible and we just looked past it. But this last time.. oh lawd. I called in my order and the guy had no idea what he was doing so he handed off the phone to someone else, without telling me, again not terrible, but this next guy literally said while on I'm on the phone with him,"yo, bro, answer my cell phone it's my baby momma". I then was on a three way call with this guy and his baby momma. He was talking to his lady while I'm on the phone trying to tell him my order. I was just trying to give someone, anyone, my order for a pizza! But all in all, pizza is great! My husband and I were craving pizza and decided to try a new pizza joint. We chose Empire Pizza due to the Yelp ratings and the proximity to us at that time. I'm glad we tried out this place-another pizza place for us to return to. We tried their white pizza as we had an amazing one at Las Vegas (Secret Pizza). It was pretty good. The ingredients were of good quality. The crust/toppings ratio was balanced. Also, the price was appropriate for the size and quality of food. Overall, I would recommend this place. We don't live in the city anymore, so we haven't been here in a while. However, we would return if ever in the area again. read more

I've lived in Houston for 362 days. I like to joke with friends and family back in Virginia that there is no bad food in Houston. Sadly, as I approach my year anniversary, I think I'll have to take it back. I can't say all of what I tried to eat at Empire was bad. The service was bad. Slow. My cheese steak and fries came out wrapped up in a to go bag when I didn't ask for it to go. The bread tasted odd. Sour, almost. The meat was not terrible in some spots, but old in others. The fries were good. No ketchup, though. That was back on the table where I thought i was going to sit until I got my to go order I didn't place. With so much competition, I can't think of a reason to go back. Or to recommend it. read more

Wish I could give less than one star. I ordered food from here via Uber eats by mistake while I was in Austin one night. I hit submit then went to search how far away the store was from my location. Immediately I realized that I had used an old location rather than my current location. I canceled the order maybe 90 seconds from submitting. Normally you get a message from Uber eats that the restaurant accepted the order which I never did so I knew I canceled in time. However the restaurant still charged me for food. Can't review the pizza cause I never received but I can comment on the operation and it's 1 star. Lots of choices here. The display had close to 15 pies available by the slice. Some Chicago style thick crust others NY style. I went for a slice with hamburger, but ended up with a slice of sausage. The server didn't know what he was dishing out. The pizza was served hot with lots of cheese and a terrific hand tossed crust. Just a great slice. I also ordered a small side salad. Lots of veggies on top of a bed of lettuce. Everything fresh. Other items on the menu are overshadowed by the pizza that greets you. Calzones, Sub's, Pastas are all available. Solid effort from a newer restaurant. I visited Empire Pizza because I was having a hankering for pizza and had a nice per diem to use up compliments of my company who sent me to Houston for training. You would think Houston being a HUMONGOUS city would offer the finest in culinary delights but I was largely disappointed in every restaurant. The same is true here. There was nothing bad or egregious, just not that impressive. I am spoiled by the absolutely amazing restaurants the much smaller mecca of Tampa has to offer. There is a place in Tampa called Sam and Eddie's and it too offers NY style pizza and I was hoping Empire Pizza would be its Houston twin but alas it was not. I ordered a slice of something simple, I think it was a margherita or its equivalent and absolutely had to try the buffalo fries. The pizza was ok and the fries were a bit disappointing because they were overcooked and there was too much bleu cheese- it was overpowering. We went to Empire Pizza based on Yelp's suggested new place. As New Yorkers who grew up eating pizza almost everyday because, well, it's everywhere we go, my husband and I are always leery of pizza places saying they have New York pizza. The first thing we noticed when we got to Empire was the set up. Every New Yorker knows that pizzerias will always have pizzas ready to be served, and the display case will show not just regular pizza slices, but their specialty pizza as well. They have the salad pies, penne a la vodka slices, strombolis, calzones, and other things that every pizzeria we knew growing up made. But what really excited my husband and me the most are the sicilian, pizza margherita, and garlic knots. So, we ordered two slices of sicilian, one margherita, one regular cheese and half a dozen of the knots. Empire uses fresh ingredients and real mozzarella cheese, not imitation. Not only does it have the right stretchiness (you know what I'm talking about), but also a hint of sweetness coming from the milk. The sauce is made with just enough herbs and spices, which do not overpower the taste of the overall pizza. Siclian - Those who don't know how to make this slice will assume that it's jus a piece of thick bread with marina and cheese on top. Empire's sicilian pizza's thickness is just the right thickness and consistency. The outer layer is crunchy, but the inner part is soft and chewy but not too doughy. The sauce is made from crushed tomatoes, not just a regular tomato sauce. For sicilian slice fans, this is a plus because the crushed tomato bits add a meaty texture at every bite. Pizza margherita - I've had margherita in some of the pizza places in Houston, and they were a bit disappointing because they used dried oregano instead of fres. Empire's margherita reminds me of home, because they used sweet fresh basil. The tomatoes were cut just the right size and portion and cooked really well, and you already know what I think about the cheese they use :-). Regular cheese slice - Empire's regular cheese slice brings back the taste of NY pizzerias in Houston. I folded my slice NY style, and the cheese did not fall. The first bite has that crunch that shows it has been cooked properly. As you chew, the flavor of the cheese and marinara sauce just complement each other. I could describe it more if you want, but let's just put it this way......it was damn good! Garlic knots - I love garlic knots, always have. However, I know that this is something that is not very common in Houston, so I have my reservations. Or had. The garlic bits were not burned, and the dough absorbed the flavor. It was baked precisely, so every bite is just pure deliciousness. I would definitely go back here just for these knots! (Side note: it comes with marinara, but it don't need it!) The general manager made us feel like we were back home, and the whole restaurant staff were friendly and provided good service. Interesting fact: My husband used to go to the the pizzeria they owned in Manhattan while he was in college. I know, why such details for a pizzeria. However, whenever we eat at restaurants where it reminds us of home, it makes us miss NY a little less. Needless to say, we will be frequenting this pizzeria. read more

So I had found this place during last summer though the yelp app but when I got there they were still under construction but I decided I would definitely be back here when they open. Well tonight I was driving down Westheimer hungry and in the mood for some pizza and remembered this place thinking they must be open by now and they were. So when entering the found it to be clean and inviting as you would expect especially for a new pizza joint. Found you can ether order a whole pizza or get it by the slice. The thing is by the slice you can only choose from what's already prepared on the line but since I was by myself that's what I chose from two slices of Meh pizza. I was starving so I eat most of it but a good 25% went into the trash can where it belongs. Sorry Empire Pizza but I cannot be a fan. read more

Empire hit the spot, but I can't say it was the best I've ever had. I will give them props for a large variety of specialty pizzas (including buffalo chicken and cheeseburger).
