The extended warranty is a complete scam. 1.5 years after install I found a small dent in my laminate flooring. When I filed a claim they asked me what happened. I told them I am unsure and I just noticed it. My claim came back as denied because I didn't make up some accident upon the initial report. I appealed and told them it was likely from something dropping from my coffee table, which is next to the dent/scratch. Empire denied my appeal because I didn't say that in the first call. It was clearly some kind of accident that should be covered under the 5 year accident coverage that I purchased. Then the real truth came out when they told me that the laminate that I just had installed is no longer available. Empire said they cannot make the repair even if I pay for it. One Star - and that's being generous My experience with Empire Today has been beyond horrific. To be fair, the only positive part of this entire process was the initial sales meeting. My salesperson was professional, knowledgeable, and did an excellent job. Unfortunately, everything after that meeting went completely downhill. Since installation, this project has felt like harassment rather than customer service. I have spent countless hours chasing responses, following up on emails and calls that go unanswered, and managing issues that should never have existed in the first place. At this point, the time and stress I've invested feels like it has cost me more than the flooring itself. The installation was unsafe and unacceptable: Nails sticking up through the carpet (cutting into my feet) Buckling and creaking throughout Loose threads and visible defects Empire has sent three separate representatives to my home. Every single issue was verified, documented, photographed, and filmed. These problems are fully substantiated. What's truly shocking is the customer service. I personally overheard a customer service supervisor coaching another employee to avoid accountability rather than fix the problem. One representative, Abigail, has been completely unacceptable--no follow-up, no ownership, no responsibility. She has ignored calls, failed to manage the project, and dismissed the fact that multiple Empire employees who were trying to help have since left the company. At one point, I was actually told I should be hammering nails down myself as I walk up and down my stairs. After all of this, Empire continues to promise they'll "make it right," yet nothing ever happens. Now they want more money for a different carpet to fix a problem that was entirely their fault. Even though I was initially willing to pay the difference, I no longer trust this company to step foot in my home--especially knowing they may send the same installation crew again. We hired Empire to replace our carpet with hardwood floors about a year ago. At first, everything looked great, but after just a year, we started noticing the wood chipping in several spots, especially on the stairs. When we called to ask if there was anything they could do, we were told that since it had been 13 months (they couldn't help us. It's really disappointing to see the floors deteriorate so quickly, especially given how much we invested. Colorado based store-Denver We installed an entire home's main floor with their laminate flooring with a "lifetime warranty" that was anything but quality or covered under their proudly advertised warranty! The corners of most of the planks are peeling, even in areas not walked on, shifting around and spaces created in between them, customer service was very difficult to even get an inspection scheduled and once that was finally done the inspector declined to cover any repairs etc under the warranty.... because we walk on it!! Exceedingly poor overall experience. Installers typically show up around 11:30AM (after telling you to be ready at 8:30). If you call you'll be connected to some old lady in South Carolina in a call center who says she'll contact the dispatcher (which now puts an unaware and uninformed third party in the mix), who calls an hour later to tell me the crew is "on its way ". Work begins around midday (unless the linoleum crew informs you that you need to empty the refrigerator for them to move it). In my case, only one of the three crews assigned to us had an English-speaking worker, and the level of communication was unsatisfactory, necessitating numerous calls to the call center while work progress halted. Of the 3 crews, the carpet and the vinyl were done within the first day (about 7PM), the wood installation dragged on for over a week. The quality is the main issue, however. While the vinyl was satisfactory upon completion, the carpet was cut nearly an inch too short (which the salesman told us they would replace; didn't happen) and the wood guys were embarrassingly bad. First of all, they never prepped the floor. And there were several places where they attached baseboards over vents and curtain rods, and others where obvious gaps were left. It seemed as though they sent out one guy with some experience, and one guy they picked up at a Lowe's parking lot. And then it would be days waiting for the supervisor to inspect and more time for the crew to show up. And all this time I'm trying to keep my dogs outside in 100 degree weather, and staying in whatever part of the house that is not being worked on, and being ghosted by our sales representative, who was worthless to us once the deposit check was written. If this seems to you like an avoidable nightmare, it is. Find a company which is responsive to your needs, sends out qualified installers who speak the language of the country they work in, and doesn't accept doing terrible work as an acceptable way of doing business. read more

Now that my new flooring is complete, I have to say I have nothing but good things to say about the people, the process and the product. From the sales associate to the installers, everyone was straightforward and honest. The installation was done quickly, neatly and beautifully. I was kept aware of all issues (and there were a couple) and solutions. This made me feel very comfortable. The installers were very accomodating as I stuck my head in constantly to take progress pictures. The end result, I now have the beautiful wood floors I have dreamed about for years. It's been a couple of years since we had Empire Today replace all our flooring in three bedrooms and a hallway. Today, the planks are coming up in two of the bedrooms. We are having to replace everything with flooring from a different company. We have called Empire Today on numerous occasions and they have refused to come out to repair the planks without being assured that they would be paid a great deal of money to do so. Stay away from this company if you value being treated like a human customer. Even after a bad experience in 2023, I didn't take my own advice to stay away from this company. (Brent, the salesman from Empire, did a great job selling me carpet. Per my request he noted on the sales order that the stairs installation was to be accomplished with the use of "Z bar tackless strips.") But the installer refused to follow the contract (I doubt his English language skills were sufficient to read it) and instead used HOT GLUE to install the carpet. I complained many times to Abigail and to Arlene, who made promises they did not honor. Eventually, a supervisor was dispatched to take a look at the job -- he said: It's fine. I said " I'm the customer. I don't think the HOT GLUE installation is how one is supposed to install carpet on stairs. Eventually the hot glue will let go and the carpet will uninstall itself. He said: The installation is guaranteed for 25 yrs. When I reported his claim to Abigail and Arlene (for verification) I was told NO, installation is guaranteed for a year. If that is true, I want it done correctly using Z-bar. "You're not going to like it," I was told. What, Why not? Arlene said: because it is too thin. But your guy sold me the carpet and the z bar installation. It's Empire's reponsibility to make it right. Now they ignore my phone calls and the job they did that I paid for. What a shyster, fly-by-night, rookie outfit that does not back up their shoddy work with installation guarantee. Used these guys to install flooring at my house.. They did not level the floor properly, they damaged my walls and the ruined the look of my baseboards. Cheap and crappy job. Floors were installed in 2022, and three years later, the flooring is lifting in several places. Requested them to fix the issues - because I SHOULD NOT HAVE THESE ISSUES AFTER ONLY 3 YEARS!!!!! Gotta admit, I was pretty worried prior to my installation when I saw all of these bad reviews. I was hoping our experience would be different than what I was reading online. Fortunately for us, we received a 5 star experience with Empire Today! Our sales day was named Zahra. She showed up on time and was ready with samples and all info that we needed. She was able to measure and give a quote that same visit too. It was no time wasted. Empire Today was not our only quote. We received a few other quotes from smaller companies and decided to go with ET because of how professional and prepared they seemed. We also really liked the finance option which made getting new floors easier for us. Other companies weren't ready to start until 2-3 weeks out and also didn't have the same materials or package offers like ET does. Empire Today also offers warranty on their work. Our whole project only took 2 days. We had about 1200 square footage that needed new Laminate flooring and they did it flawlessly. The crew worked diligently and was very professional. I hope I have the spelling right of the crew leader that we had . He was a very professional installer named Maciel or Meciel. He explained everything throughout the process and updated us when something new came up. The crew also cleaned up well after they finished. We are grateful for such wonderful experience with Empire Today and are very happy with the outcome of our new beautiful floors. From the first sales contact of Zahra to the crew that worked on our floors and even the lady who called midway through the project to ask how the process was going. I missed that call but was very surprised they call to check in even while the project is being worked on. Price wise, I would say Empire Today is very competitive. Our original installer came back to work on some of the issues that we had with our original install. Honestly, he was great and we were much happier -- he even went the extra mile and installed some beadwork around the bottom step to finish it off better, which I appreciated. However, one of problems we had was that the end caps the installers were given were not the right ones, and they didn't even have enough of them. So, on two steps, we have thin little end caps that don't match the thicker ones on the other steps and the thin ones are starting to tear away from the step. The installer said he'd be back to replace them at some point when the thicker ones were back in stock but I know I won't hear from anyone at Empire unless I prod and poke them. The good first... I don't want to be unfair: Jerry, was friendly, informative and very patient! We had a great experience and even better price. We ended up getting special financing, which is great! Best of all there was no pressure. Now for the bad: We initially chose a rug, Jerry called the warehouse, or wherever it is they check for inventory, because the carpet we wanted showed that it was unavailable with no timeline on when it would be available. They confirmed what the network said, so we chose a slightly darker one, or so we thought. When they came to install I confirmed that it was the same one as the sample but when it was installed it was sooooo much darker than the sample, it wasn't a slight shade it when from a tan cooler to a full brown. I informed Jerry immediately, we were not happy, mind you the quality was still nice but the color was so dark. Jerry came, looked at it and agreed that the color was extremely dark in comparison. He made a report and advised us to call the customer service, so we did. After going back and for the they told us they could instal the one we originally requested but would have to pay as if we were putting it on for the first time. I pleaded to work out a deal due to the fact that we felt deceived and were completely unhappy with it. She told me that she would place the request to rectify the problem with her supervisors and would call us back withing 24 working hours. 2 weeks went by, she finally called and informed me, essentially that we were shit out of luck and if we wanted the one we originally wanted, it was available, we would have to pay full price. I told her no thank you, I'd rather pay double to any other company. I will never purchase nor will I ever recommend Empire to anyone. read more

First time was under warranty came out and had to re due the whole floor because it was installed wrong. Second time the floor started to bow gave them a call and they said my floor was no longer under warranty and if I wanted a quote to re due my floor. After packing up our house and emptying all the closets for next morning 8am install...we get a call the late afternoon prior saying our flooring for the stairs was on back order!!! We agreed to do stairs a week later but floors the next morning. Installers showed up and still didn't have product necessary to do install. Long story short..we lived out of boxes for a week and then did the whole install. So many negatives to enumerate! No manager would ever contact us even to this day!!! Unfortunately when they did the combo install (carpet and vinyl) they brought the wrong T-molding which goes between the carpet and vinyl. I didn't want to delay the job so I told the install cow I would go to Home Depot and pick it something that matches. Remind you im doing them a favor. Spending my own money for something that I already paid for. Using my vehicle and my time to help them out and when I submitted the receipt to get paid back th2 $120 they told me they could only approve $100. I should of told them to go take it out and put in what I ordered but I just ate the $20. It pissed me off that they didn't apologize and it seemed like they didn't appreciate my business or the fact that I didn't have to go out of my way for them when it was their mistake. I'm surprised to see such poor reviews here - I had an overall great experience with Empire Today, which included a few encounters... During Covid, we had 1/2 of our 2nd floor re-carpeted. We opted to do 1/2 because we have a lot of furniture & wanted to move it ourselves. I figured we'd do the other 1/2 in about 6 months; life got in the way & that didn't happen. About a year+ passed & I received a call from the sales gal, telling me the style/color I chose was going out of stock or something. I planned to call them soon, but she beat me to the punch. Not only did I need the other 1/2 done, but I needed the 1st 1/2 fixed because there were already lumps & bumps in several places - this shouldn't happen til the carpet is like 10 yrs old! After a little bit of back & forth w/ customer service, we scheduled the install & the re-stretch. These guys were definitely their A-Team... they came in, re-stretched, cut away excess, installed beautifully... we've had zero issues with our carpet since. Did you know they do window coverings? Neither did I! I mentioned it in convo with my sales gal... she came out, measured, placed my order, & a guy came to install when they were ready. They had so many choices, it was tough to decide! We had an issue with 1 of the 4 window coverings - I spoke to a manager, who offered a discount for our time/ inconvenience, which I thought was nice. They also fixed the issue, so all 4 are the same & look/ work great! Our last experience with them was probably the best. I shopped around for flooring & most places had similar price points for the flooring we wanted. I decided to go with them because of the bottom line & the idea that they'd get it done quickly; I expected maybe a 1-2 week turnaround time. Admittedly, I was concerned about the quality of workmanship because we are PICKY. To my ecstatic surprise, the installer came out & estimated it as a 2-day turnaround. Cherry on top - he & his crew did superb work... they were so detail-oriented, I couldn't have asked for a better crew!! I later found out from the Empire employee who came out to check on them, that this installer won Installer of the Year. I lucked out! Best sales gal: Ask for Jenene - she has great style, knows the difference between trends vs what has longevity/ will last, & she isn't pushy. Best flooring crew: Tomás & his guys I'm giving them a 5 because, although things may not have been perfect from the start, they were more than willing to work with me & fix what they could. I recently received service in Redondo Beach. The salesman was nice and promised me that the installers would take care of reconnecting appliances. They didn't plug my oven all the way in and I called to get help to get it plugged in because I couldn't manage it myself. They told me that they wouldn't assist and it wasn't covered in the installation service. Doing what you said you were going to do is very important in the service industry. I am in the process of ordering garage carpet. The sales associate did not present in a professional manner.
