When I got there, there was three young dudes hanging out at the front desk, I took about 6 trips to get all of the food in and not one of them offered to help. They were all kinda awkward and seemed inconvenienced when we needed something. There was one point where people were standing and they didn't bother to take initiative to arrange the bench tables in a way that would allow everyone a seat. I didn't mind doing it, but you can tell they aren't expected to provide customer service. Archery was cool.

Not only is this a place to practice archery, it's a community. We really appreciate all the staff - Dan, Felix, Will, Tracy, Kelly, Scotty...etc. everyone played a big part of our journey here. Love that they have a section for up to 40 yard distance if you are interested in trying. Rack for putting your bags/cases away and many picnic tables for rest, if needed between sets. We came on a hot summer day and the only thing was that most of the indoor range is not temperature controlled, no AC (only in the bathrooms did I feel the AC), no fan that's for use on the open side of the range. I probably could have gone and asked if we could turn on the fan on the closed half of the range but the employees were extremely busy with their customers on getting their compound bow ready for hunting season. I'd probably come back again when the weather cools down if I want to practice on a Sunday... overall a great spot but trying to stay cooler and not overheat during the Summer.

Anyone with a video-game loving kid knows how tricky that can be. I am very happy that we discovered an opportunity to do something much more than just shoot arrows together. Golden Archery embeds archery into a larger framework of martial arts, drawing on both eastern and western traditions, creating something entirely unique. It's not just archery lessons, it's an entire learning process dedicated to giving you the tools for continued development and growth over a lifetime. The program Mr. Johnson has developed (and continues to refine with his impressive instructors and input from a variety of other martial artists) is a carefully thought out system of training, conditioning, and discipline with martial archery at its core. That discipline is an element that appealed to me strongly, both as a parent and an aspiring archer. You're not just plunking arrows into a target, you learn to focus your mind and body on a purpose, to hone yourself to that purpose over time, and see the results of your effort at the far end of the range. These are lessons applicable to a lot more than archery. I count myself lucky that we found Golden Archery, and I'm grateful we have the chance to work with the community of instructors and students there.

I used to go into my store (84th) and could look around for an hour and find something new every time.The pricing has always been competitive, sometimes downright cheap. 200 reviews for a store that's been open for 10 plus years, says to me that the only time anyone gives a review is when they have a complaint. I'd bet I've been in my store 200 plus times. Support local businesses, these companies employ your neighbors. My only complaint is that this is a corporation, & the policies are handed down from a board that probably wouldn't know the correct end to hold of a fishing pole, or firearm for that matter. P.S. The last time I was in they had a sale on sleeping bags 25% off, one of the staff was right there to answer our questions , & couldn't have been more helpful. I wish I could remember his name.

Everyone I interacted with was SO nice and helpful and happy to talk about their niche firearms expertise. Today I learned about vintage muzzle loaders, shotguns, hunting rifle calibers, and recoil factors... and nobody was rude or condescending. The first guy I chatted with even helped me with my shooting stance and posture (admittedly terrible due to a disability), and asked each time if he could touch me to help with positioning. It was courteous, very helpful, and felt very respectful. 10000 stars for Lou! I was also very grateful to the rifle/hunting enthusiast who handles the buying (didn't catch his name) and brought so many rifles from storage for me to handle and decide on. I ended up trading a rifle that didn't fit me well for ... two. What can I say, hunting season is coming and I've been slacking! I interacted with at least 6 employees in the Gun Library throughout the interaction. I ended up having them set aside the rifle I wanted to buy, and I trekked home to retrieve the trade in rifle to save a bunch of $$ on taxes - great looking out by the staff! Despite being busy when I returned, they remembered me and had my rifle set aside. I had decided to buy a second one I'd been looking at and they pulled that one and its accessories for me as well. I dropped off my trade for them to look over, went browsing for a while and returned to do paperwork about a half hour later. It took probably another 30-45min to complete the trade in, purchase, and background check forms... yet another reason to buy multiple firearms in a single purchase - huge PITA! Important, of course, but it's time consuming. Cabela's of course has many other departments and I can't speak to those today, but I can very highly recommend the firearms section and the Gun Library in particular - they're one of the largest used firearm dealers in the BassPro family in the country and you can tell that with every interaction. Regarding value, there's so many factors in buying used that it's hard to give a helpful feedback. I am happy with the price of each purchase for their condition; one is new in box and was a good amount off retail. They offer discounts for law enforcement and active military (possibly also veterans?) and have occasional sales.
