I only ordered the crab sticks I gave them star 3 on the crab sticks only the breading was something different when I say they made them like they was batter chicken to much breading for me not sure what was throwing my taste buds off the sauce or the breading the wait time was within the time frame she said 10-15 it was ready in 12 min I called in placed the order just right when they was opening at 11am this was my 1st time ordering from them I will visit again an order something different. I've been to En Lai 3 times over over the past 5 yrs. The Crab Rangoon is always top notch! The fried rice however is bland. I tried something new this last time... Very little beef in the beef lo mein and what little beef there was tasted like plain hamburger meat. Onions in chicken fried rice were practically raw. No flavor. Chicken in chicken fried rice looked like a cubed up plain chicken breast. Orange chicken was decent but had an almost artificial orange flavor to it. I ordered a lunch special with the broccoli, beef and fried rice. The guy who answered the phone, called me back to confirm my order. I thought to myself, this is great! When I received my order, however, I did not receive the beverage that went along with the lunch special. I called and the guy not only argued with me, but hung up on me and refused to allow me to speak with a manager. I have been a loyal customer and I have informed others at my workplace to never patronize this restaurant. It is ok to disagree, but never to disrespect a customer. En Lai will never receive my company's business ever after this incident. read more

The chicken fried rice should be called onion chicken rice. It's loaded with way too many onions, no other vegetables, and very greasy. The egg rolls are just cabbage and grease. The egg foo Yung was burnt. I'm very disappointed. read more

Since the pandemic, we haven't had much carry in. We ordered from En Lai on October 25th. We ordered crab rangoon and a small beef and peapods. The rangoon was wonderful, almost didn't share the order with my husband. The beef and peapods was amazing. The beef was so tender, no need for a knife.The peapods were plentiful. We were both full, and where do you find dinner for less than 15 dollars. read more

I see why I don't eat from here. This was my second time giving this place a chance but it was still horrible. They will give you a lot but the everything was to bland. The Chicken Fried Rice was so bland, I've added more soy sauce and still missed the point. The egg roll was overstuffed with cabbage and I've never had shrimp lobster sauce that had carrots in it and the shrimp was breaded in the gravy . Never, Never again. Waste of money. I have to admit I've only had the carryouts from here. I've seen a review of this placing saying it has the best Chinese food on the south side. I wouldn't go that far but the food is good and reasonably priced. Portions are generous. Extensive menu - they can cook you up whatever your heart desires. The typical breaded meat dishes with sauce (eg General Tso, Orange Chicken) are tasty while the vegetables in other dishes are always fresh. They have dirt cheap lunch specials and something called a "Diet Menu" for those watching their calories. Solid Asian fare at cheap prices. read more

So ordered and picked up food to carry out. We brought the food home and found a couple of problems. 1) my hubby asked for crispy noodles in place of rice for his egg foo young and neither noodles or rice. 2) I found a piece of metal wire (see picture) in my cashew chicken. We called the restaurant to tell them. They did offer to give us a new order but hubby didn't feel like driving back. I think they should have offered to deliver it. The BEST Chinese restaurant around. I have been a customer of En Lai for years, Very tasty and consistent food each and every time. LOVE their egg rolls....Nice people behind the counter.... I recently went to a couple other Chinese places by my home in Tinley park since i did not feel like driving to Midlothin and I wont make that mistake again....Other places just do not compare to En Lai....Its that good! I had the lunch special for $6.59, good portion, and warm even when I got back to work. The taste was average, the lunch crowd was good and the lady was polite. Typical chinese family owned restaurant. I did enjoy the food. But with all the competition out there, this doesn't stand above all the others. I would go back however. 5 stars because I am absolutely in love with the food. Sure, it's not high end, the place looks extremely dated, but there's something about the sauce they put on that chicken broccoli that is to die for. Best hole-in-the-wall chinese place I've ever been to. I used to live in Alsip and this was my favorite go-to place. I moved out to California for college but any time I come back to visit, it is ALWAYS guaranteed I will get food at least once from here. I know I am extremely americanized since I always only order the chicken broccoli but I've never came across any other better chicken broccoli plate, even in California with the huge asian population. I pretty much have their number now saved in my phone ready for when I'm in town. I'll be relocating soon for work back to Chicago and cannot wait to have this so close by again. This place was ok. We order delivery and the food came fast and was still hot and the driver was very nice. We didn't have a menu to order from, so I just asked for the lunch combos. I'm not sure if it was because I asked for lunch combos, but it didn't appear to be a lot of food. I'm accustomed to having leftover chinese food and this was a rare occasion when I could finish everything. I was pretty full when I finished so I can't complain too much. My boyfriend had a stomach ache, but we don't know it was from the food since I did not get sick at all. Most likely it wasn't the food. Overall, pretty good, I would order from here again and now it will be easier since I got a menu. read more

It's more like 2.5 stars for this establishment only because my family orders from them a lot, and enjoys the food immensely. The portions are very generous and the service is very fast and efficient especially when you order take-out for delivery. I just think they give my fam better service (because the recognize the address) and when I'm flying solo and walked in they didn't realize who I was (yes I'm being that self-centered person). The last time I personally ordered from them the food wasn't very good *at all* and I'm convinced my beau and I were sick from what we ate. Maybe we just didn't order the right thing but I felt like what we had was greasier than normal. UGH! I just felt sick! I know I'll eat from them again at my mom's house some day, but not on my own. The Chinese takeout was good as it is. No dry or funny smell to it. The typical takeout you would get from a Chinese restaurant. The only diff or benefits this place has is they open even later than your average takeout in chicago. Normally they all close around 9pm.. this place stays open til 11p. Awesome!! 2 thumbs up to that! Especially if you're in the mood for some chinese food on a Sunday night. The general tso... its fine not mind blowing. The sweet n sour was ok. Its the same taste and looks as you would normally get. The rice however.... not bad at all. Its diff and has a nice brown color to it which i like. It feels like its been wok the sh** out of it. Which is great! Not that typical yellow crap you see in all takeout places. Is the best in Chi town??? No. The best in my heart is in tampa but they closed down awhile ago.
