It is a heavy dish so it was nice to lighten it up with the turkey sandwich and salad (though the salad barely had any dressing on it). Espresso martini was a little bitter but still good. I appreciated that it wasn't overly sweet and let the espresso actually be the star. Most restaurants overload their martinis with sweetness. Perfect brunch spot and our waiter was great. read more

simply delicious. the blue corn pancakes were some of the best i've had in my life. so flavorful & rich & didn't need any syrup. i also tried their migas which were very fresh and full of flavor and my friend had the egg sandwich on brioche. my passion fruit mimosa was also on point. We've now been twice and both times I've been SO impressed with the service and complexity of flavors. Everything is unique. I highly recommend the mokonits drink. Mezcal and coconut flavors are yum! This time we had the Devils on Horseback - bacon wrapped dates with blue cheese and apple butter sauce - salty and sweet! I had the Berkshire pork chop which was fabulous! Juicy and cooked to perfection. Greens and poblano grits topped it off. Hubby had the NY strip that was cooked perfect. Then we ended with carrot cake - I don't even really like carrot cake but this was FABULOUS. Give it a try. I'll get straight to it--the turkey leg! I really liked this place. It gives you the vibe of farm to table and has a nice atmosphere where you can watch the chefs prepare your food. They have a few adventurous items on the menu. Think, beef cheek and beef tongue. Honestly, I was not mad at the cheek. It was wonderfully prepared. Ok, but now the Turkey leg. It was amazing! It was perfectly crispy and they made sure to keep it light with beautiful vegetables as the side. I was really bummed about not having my annual turkey leg at the fair but those pale in comparison to this one. I gave it 4 stars only because the drinks were ok. They don't have a lot of variety (I'm a whiskey girl) and the bartender was ok in making a drink off the menu. Otherwise, a great time! read more

My friends and I had an amazing meal at Encina. The mussels appetizer is over the top good! Consider yourself lucky if you don't have to share the broth and bread with your friends! Came here last night with my husband for date night and really enjoyed the food. Sat on the patio which was covered. We got the cheese plate, corn bread, flat bread, and gnocchi! It was a lot of food. The cheese place was absolutely gorgeous and delicious! I was so stuffed from the appetizers that didn't have much room for the main courses. Drinks were tasty as well. Great ambience. Parking is a pain (no real parking) and service was pretty slow. Took a long time to get our drinks and our waiter would disappear for long periods of time. Also noticed some of the servers weren't wearing their masks over their noses which was kinda concerning in the time of pandemic. I would try again-food was definitely good! read more

Outstanding. We came for dinner on Friday night, just their third night open. You'd never guess this was a new restaurant based on the service and food. Everything ran as expected and was very good. We started with the mussels, which were very fresh and in and in a delicious broth. The dish was well seasoned and came with slices of the most perfect bread to have with it: it was grilled and buttered, solid enough to stand up to the sauce and then melts in your mouth when dipped in that amazing broth. We REALLY enjoyed these and would definitely order again. For my main I had the fish, which was red snapper and amazing! It was paired with a broccoli puree which was also tasty, as well as a lentil side that was tossed in a vinaigrette. Everything was so tasty and I was very pleased. The flavors are excellent and very well seasoned. My partner had the NY Strip steak. He kept telling me I had to try it, so finally he put a piece on my plate and I was blown away. This NY Strip absolutely melted in my mouth and was SO WELL SEASONED. I'm not a huge steak person and I would definitely order this. We really enjoyed our meal here and will be coming back frequently. read more

The food was perfectly fine. The pancakes were very small and the biscuits come with a whole lot of topping on them, drenching the biscuits. So if you do not like a ton of spicy gravy, make sure you ask for it on the side! They served us pretty quickly and the restaurant was nice. read more

I read about this little hidden gem in an article out of the Advocate magazine. I was super excited to try it and see what all the fuss was about. The excitement was short lived with the service. The quality of the food lived up to the expectation, but truly the service is where i draw the line between excellent and poor. It's New Year's Eve yet the moment we walked in it felt off. Our reservation was at the bar - our preferred seating. We find you get better, more prompt service at the bar. NOT HERE! The most unsocial, unfriendly, inattentive two bartenders I've experienced at a nice restaurant in ages. They didn't even ask for our entree order until we were looking for somewhere else to go. We had a party of 8 people and we ordered almost every dish on the menu. Every single person was completely satisfied with their choices and we all tried a bit of each dish. Today we went for Brunch. They have taken the Dallas Brunch scene to the next level. We had the Blue Corn Pancakes, Breakfast Flatbread, Egg Sandwich, and Biscuits and Gravy. Every dish was fantastic. I was slightly disappointed about my overall experience for this place. It has a lot of hype and buzz around town, however, it fell short of my expectations. I like that they have a smaller, focused menu offering. It communicates to your diner that the restaurant would rather put thought/attention to detail in doing a smaller quantity of options better, rather than offering numerous offerings just "ok". We were very pleased with our appetizer course. The beef tartare, cornbread and beef cheek pastrami were all awesome dishes! The following course was the disappointment. We ordered the goat tacos, pea risotto and the rabbit cavatelli. The tacos were a lackluster disassembled pile of ingredients. The "pasta" dish was basically rabbit noodle soup (tepid room temperature cavatelli swimming in a bowl of broth with bits of overcooked rabbit). The pea risotto was bland and lacked seasoning, but I did appreciate the ramps. I think the biggest disappointment was the guidance element in the service. Our waiter was nice but had zero knowledge of the food/beverage offerings. We ordered a bottle of Chateauneuf-du-Pape and he brought back a Cote du Rhone. There was zero menu guidance, descriptions or much of a dialogue at all. It was basic "order taking" service you would expect from a diner. The boring "what would you like to drink... what would you like to eat", style of service. I think that if he had a more thorough knowledge of the menu/preparation techniques, we could have avoided some of the dishes we ordered and could have steered us into dishes we would have enjoyed. The manager was nice and attentive, once she was alerted to our experience. However, aside from taking the dishes we didn't like off our check, she didn't really do anything to recover our experience in a positive way either after that. I would have gladly paid for new dishes that may have been more suiting to our taste. I left hungry and felt as if we bothered them with our feedback. For a chef driven restaurant, I guess we were expecting more than just good appetizers. read more

Great new restaurant with simple but inventive menu. Gnocchi was billowy and delicious. Steak was well seasoned but a little tough, but the grits were a wonderful flavor. Good selection of drinks. Would like to see more dessert offerings. Pot de creme was good but a little too bittersweet for my liking. read more
