[[HIGHLIGHT]]It took us a bit to find Endorffeine because they're one of many shops on the first floor within an older plaza that's fairly dark, which makes it easy to miss. The exterior is also bare, with minimal signage -- almost as if they want to gatekeep and keep it lowkey.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Inside, the space is still pretty minimalistic with a hint of pretentiousness. There are onyx black floors, white walls with touches of pastel blue, and five thin pendant lamps hanging from the ceiling to brighten the room.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] A large coffee bar sits in the center, with a few stools surrounding it for seating. The menu matches its interior -- no frills, just espresso basics and pour over coffee. They provide no sugar or sweeteners, and there are no specialty lattes in sight. I ordered a CAPPUCCINO (5.50), which was well-balanced with bright, fruity notes from the espresso. It's definitely one of the best ones I've had. They don't roast their own beans, but they source from well-known domestic roasters (ilse) and international roasters (Coffee Collective), which are also available for purchase. The service wasn't the most friendly, definitely a bit more aloof, but they clearly value craft and take coffee seriously, which matters more to me.

    Welcome to Endorffeine.

Drinking coffee is the next best thing that ever happened to me. lol. Let's begin. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Endorffeine is a tiny coffee bar on Broadway in Chinatown, LA. They're located within an old plaza. It's dim lit, minimalist design and bare layout gray walls that makes you think you're in a wet chemistry lab.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The menu is quite short with 5 hot and 3 iced drinks. No pastries. However, they sell merch and coffee bags. Moreover, sugar/sweeteners are not available in case you're wondering. This coffee shop has got me curious for months now but never had a chance until today. Alas I arrived on a cool weekday. I had a hot Cortado ($5.5) with oat milk. It was robust enough to get jolted. Service was absolutely spot on. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Atmosphere was chill, very dim lit and quiet for a coffee bar.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]They prohibit laptops, kissing, sound on cellphones and outside drinks. Yes, Kissing!![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Parking ain't a problem in the area. Staff were incredible. Overall, this is a nice coffee bar with solid coffee.

For anyone who is on a serious coffee journey, this is the Super Bowl of coffee experiences. Jack is a biochemist who meticulously brews every cup. You go here for pour overs or espressos. Think of Jiro for sushi, that is Jack for coffee. [[HIGHLIGHT]]You feel like you are transported to Japan, and the ambience is more like a temple or a shrine.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]There isn't a lot of noise, despite being across from howling ray's, no music, no laptops or plush seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] You are there to experience coffee taken to a level that's previously unknown, to unlock the secrets of the molecule that only a few shamans have been privy. [[HIGHLIGHT]]That you need to be patient is a given. This is not a place for large groups.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]There's counter seating around Jack, as he extracts the flavors from the bean du jour.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] While his cousin manages the till. You wait patiently and then take your time to savor the heavenly brew, taking time to let your nose pick the sweet, the acidity, the soul of the bean. The taste profile changes to the sublime as you get closer to room temperature. Jack is meticulous, I hesitate to use the word perfectionist as he may not agree. He may toss out a cup that isn't up to his exalted mark. You are witnessing an artisan at work, who won't compromise. I have a soft spot for the pour over, however even the espresso is a masterclass in high pressure bean extraction. Last time we spoke, Jack mentioned a possible collaboration with Diego Bermudez, my absolute favorite roaster, who have a heavenly lychee forward Colombian light roast. That would be the dream, mad hacker Diego's beans, and rocket scientist Jack's extraction. There's great coffee shops in LA from Kumquat to Maru, Dayglow to the Boy and the Bear, Good Boy Bob to Loquat, but there's only one Endorffeine. This will never be a chain, or run by employees. If I could, I'd be here everyday, but a trip to coffee heaven is a special treat I look forward to. Tip: Park across the street a few blocks south for relatively low cost metered parking options.

The Hand Brew at Endorffeine is brewed individually and precisely. It's not the fastest cup you'll get, but it may be one of the best pour-overs.

A small, cute, very hidden cafe with amazingly great coffee. I visited on a weekday morning. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place was extremely quiet but full of coffee lovers.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I'm not an expert but you definitely see the effort put into the coffee brewing methods. [[HIGHLIGHT]]A lovely quiet space to have great coffee and relax (not working)[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I've tried at least 50 shops in the states. Hands down this is the BEST. All the hype is real. If you've been trying espresso for a long time you'll notice all the nuances that makes this place goated. I'll be back every time I'm in LA now. If you like medium roast burnt coffee you're better of at mid shops that offer that!

Endorffeine is quietly located directly across from the chicken restaurant. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There's a small outdoor seating area and a bar as well.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The menu is limited but they do what's offered quite well. If you're into sweet drinks however this is not the place for you, they have a no sugar policy. I enjoyed my sugarless iced latte nevertheless. It was reasonably priced at around $6.50, the going rate for a latte in LA nowadays. 5/5 I would return but I probably wouldn't go out of my way.

To note the positives... the staff are friendly and inviting. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I also appreciate the minimal look and coffee station and paper to go cup.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] As for the coffee... I have never felt so gaslit in my life. All the research on this business said it was an experience and focused on quality. I can only speak for the iced latte. It tasted like an americano and not in a good way. It was very thin and watery. I was very disappointed, especially since I am from out of town and drove from my hotel in San Gabriel to try it. I feel like the scientist coffee lab description has gotta be a gimmick and social experiment to test if people will come and hype something up because they think they're supposed to.

Owner is very precise with his art of making coffee. He has some fancy built in equipments. I noticed that he discards the Excess steamed milk, Also He physically Bends down to watch the coffee drip down from espresso machine, for every brew, not sure why. I don't know much about coffees but I know my Cortado was really good, very smooth.

    Kacie R.

I think this is one of the best iced lattes I've ever had!! I typically like my coffee sweetened or with a flavor, but this shop doesn't add any sugar or sweeteners to any of their drinks. So, I ordered a shaken iced latte with oat milk. It was strong, but smooth. It was so good! I highly recommend this to any coffee lovers.

My coffee understanding and palate are pretty basic. That said, I love this place. This is not a cafe for folks who love *$ , which I'm guessing folks would realize on the approach even if they haven't checked out reviews. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I would be bummed if I ended up here without getting a seat inside, because part of the experience for me is getting to step out of the chaos and really savor my drink.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The juxtaposition of the minimalist vibes inside and the consumeristic insanity across the way is pretty hilarious.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I'll take a quiet, quality, cortado in decadent air conditioning any day of the week over whatever is happening out there. To each their own, but if your own is the former, check this place out.

I asked, "how did you end up choosing coffee as your passion?" And he replied, "I wouldn't call it a passion, it's more of an obsession." I told him it's the best coffee drink I've ever had, and he said that "it's not perfect yet, I'm still chasing the perfection." Can't wait to keep coming back to be able to drink his "perfect" drink.

We don't provide sugar or sweeteners!

She was genuinely engaged in talking about coffee, understood the beans she was serving, and was able to answer questions without hesitation. That's becoming harder to find these days, and it definitely added to the overall experience. The cortado itself was well executed. The temperature was right where it should be, allowing the flavors to come through immediately without having to wait for the drink to cool down. I was able to clearly taste the notes in the coffee, and the balance between the espresso and milk was excellent. The body held together nicely throughout the drink and never felt thin or watered down. My only critique would be that the crema and microfoam leaned a little more matte and foamy than glossy. It wasn't enough to take away from the drink, but a slightly silkier, shinier texture would have elevated it even further. That said, this was an Ethiopian natural, which can be a bit trickier to dial in and pair with milk while still preserving the character of the coffee, so it's a fairly minor criticism. Overall, a very good cortado from a shop that clearly cares about coffee. Good execution, proper temperature, clear flavor separation, and knowledgeable staff always make for a better coffee experience.

This shop is especially effective, offering good quality and great service that seamlessly integrates into the local community and vibe. I came in a Sunday morning after my child had her class at the nearby Klub Gymnastics center. We entered via the surprisingly scenic riverwalk amongst active hikers and bikers, past the nearby bike rental shop, and got in line. The place was packed and filled with like-minded family and others enjoying the morning. With essentially identical products, I evaluate chains like Colombe and Starbucks by how well they integrate with a local community and how busy it is. More people coming and going, more lingering, and more laughter and conversation overheard is what I like to see. This Colombe location fit the bill perfectly, filled to the brim with people were taking in the most of a humid day Frogtown. My large iced tea Chai Tea latte was delicious, as expected, and although a little bit pricey ($7 with tax), it came with great service, a friendly smile, and staff who offered to help my daughter fill her a little cup with water. A friend got the marshmallow s'mores croissant (see pictures) and reported it tasted as delectable as it looked. Truly, this Colombe location embodies the best of what a coffee shop can be, and is absolutely worth a visit during a walk along the LA river or a lazy morning in Frogtown. I stumbled across their Yelp page when I was visiting from out of town and checked the Instagram for their hours on a Saturday afternoon and was happy to see they were open! I am a sucker for pop-up coffee shop/cart concepts so I had to check it out. The pop-up is easy to find, it's outside facing into the parking lot, and they had a cute A-frame sign out by the street side. There was no line, and I ordered and sat down at one of the tables out front. The service was so warm, and I believe the shop is owned and operated by one man on his own! He was an absolute delight to meet, and he brought my matcha latte to me at the table when it was prepared. He suggested I get the cream top on it, and boy was that the perfect recommendation. I would say I'm a little bit of a matcha fiend... I think I got a matcha latte at 3 different places this day... and this one far surpassed the others. I think it was one of the best matcha lattes I have ever drank to-date. It was perfectly green, the matcha quality was phenomenal, both taste and look-wise. The texture was just right, perfectly creamy with barely any grittiness. The cream top only added to the drink, and didn't take away from the matcha flavor at all, which I feel like has happened at other places for me. I'm dreaming of this matcha latte days later, and need to go back to Kokoro No Coffee as soon as I am in town again. This was a spectacular find, and I hope this spot gets all the love it deserves! There is truly nothing like a great business ran by a great person and you can tell there's so much intention put into this concept. Highly, highly recommend and I could not sing praises more!
