I had heard the line was insane and it wasn't too bad, maybe 5 people in front of us BUT it was 9:15am on a Saturday so I think it was faster due to the early timing. I got the Matcha Pistachio which is an on tap iced matcha latte made with pistachio milk which was super good. I also got the avocado toast on gluten free sourdough which was SO good, tasted so fresh and was so filling. I got the matcha pistachio - let me start by saying that I feel it was a little misleading because I expected matcha flavored with pistachio. If it's only pistachio milk, I think pistachio milk matcha would be more appropriate to mitigate confusion on that. That said, the matcha itself had a fine taste - not bitter, not astringent, not grassy. However, I think there definitely needs to be more matcha in the drink because it was on the milky side with light matcha flavor. The drink is not sweetened, or if it is, it's very, very light, even as someone who does not like drinks too sweet. I like that it gives you the opportunity to sweeten it to your liking. One of the best hot lattes I've had! Locations/Ambiance: Located in Echo Park by Dodger Stadium. Can be a bit of a trek to get there if you aren't local! Patrons were polite as well holding doors open for each other. A bit hard to tell who is in line and who is just waiting for their drink though. If I could for a second forget how hard it was to find parking around the area, I would easily see myself being a regular at Canyon Coffee. For me the vibe did worth the hype. Forgive me for being not 1000% in alignment with the crowd, I did think it was luscious but not slapping as much as the attention it had drawn (or prolly I set too high expectation because of the reviews). Don't get me wrong, it was indeed great combo of sweetness from the honey and tanginess from the labneh, along with nice texture play blending creamy labneh and crunchy buckwheat. Nonetheless, for me it was more like I did get my curiosity answered, but not something I would return and keep re-ordering. Saving the day, the brown sugar latte was BOMB, especially I got it with pistachio milk which surprisingly just made perfect pair! I've always been a fan of non-dairy alternative as it helped giving creaminess but not overpowering the coffee taste from standing out and I'd say Canyon's coffee notes just suited my preference well, with bold aroma and low acidity. I checked out the website for this shop and I think they are trying to combine travel with the love of coffee. I think it's an interesting idea. I've been to coffee shops in other parts of the world and know they take their coffee business serious. I've been drinking coffee for a while but wouldn't consider myself a coffee connoisseur. I see lots of people at this place whenever I drive by. I've only been there a few times. It is a bit intimidating and daunting sometimes because there's so much hip people there. Came in on a Sunday afternoon. I guess I came in at the right time, because right after I ordered, the line was out the door. I ordered an iced matcha with oat milk and vanilla, as well as a pastry. The matcha was good & it was a pre-mixed matcha (not mixed/whisked to order). I tried the gluten free almond cake pastry (?) and it was really good. I would definitely get that again. There is a good amount of indoor/outdoor seating. I believe they have WiFi, but the music was super loud inside so I wouldn't plan on studying/working here (on a weekend at least). I was really excited because it had a za'tar on top and then whenever I got my toast I was so disappointed there was no za'tar and it was just covered with buckwheat crunch and it was so crunchy and it didn't taste like anything and there was no herbs and spices and I really just felt like this was the worst toast that they could've possibly made and it didn't come as promised and I'm really sad. read more
