2.5 stars but I'm a round upper Enigma Coffee is fine, just fine but in a city full of great coffee, I won't be back. It's a grab-and-go kind of spot, not somewhere you'd want to meet a friend or crack open your laptop. I've been twice, and both times the coffee was pretty mid, drinkable, but forgettable. Maybe if the local competition weren't so strong, it'd feel like a solid choice. But as it stands, there are simply better brews and better vibes to be found elsewhere. Also, why are the prices not on the menu? I'm in a coffee shop not at a high end watch store playing a game of can I afford this. I guess that's the enigma. read more

I went in here for a double espresso!! The espresso was pretty good with a nice layer of crema! The flavor was pleasant and not acidic at all! A very nice balanced espresso! The service was very friendly and fast! The ambiance was a little quiet! Not a bad place to check out! read more

Tried their specialty "The Sam" salted vanilla oatmilk latte (subbed mine with soymilk), it was pretty good! I love when a cafe balances the flavors & milk with espresso correctly. Price is typical for LA/WEHO. It's a small coffee spot with outdoor seating & street parking only. read more

Easiest 5 star review I've ever written. This shop is right on Sunset and always has meter parking spots open out front. It's super cute with a few sidewalk seats, a few inside and free wifi if you want to work while there. I actually think I will come work here one day knowing I probably won't get anything done bc the people watching on Sunset is *chef's kiss*. My cold brew was only $5.50 ($6.50 because you gotta.tip a barista who says they like your fit) and so freaking rich in flavor. I'm so used to making coffee at home that the deeply layered bean flavor of this java truly jolted me to happiness. I'm an enigma down with Enigma. read more

I've loved this spot for years! Coffee is always on point and the service is great. They even bring your drink out to you outside so you're not hovering inside and blocking the ordering lane (which some customers need to get a hint at). One of the best cafe's to sit and chill outside with your drink or food and soak in all of the sights and sounds of the best part of Hollywood. Filled with a ton of locals who, get this, talk to each other, and even the occasional celebrity (if you're into that sorta thing). But there are no egos here, just community. So if you maybe haven't found that here, then maybe it's saying more about you. read more

Enigma Coffee is one of my favorite tasting espressos in LA. They make their own Salted Vanilla syrup. I usually get the salted vanilla latte, double shot. They also have seasonal drinks. The non-dairy milk options are oat, almond and soy. I tried the oat milk and it was good, not chalky at all. This location is small but clean and well organized. Staff is friendly and helpful. My favorite coffee shop in the neighborhood!! I always order The Sam- iced oat milk latte with brown sugar vanilla- or something like that, idk but it's delicious!!! They also have a lemon bar that is...perfect. The service is always great- all of the baristas are nice and make sure you enjoy what you ordered! Last time, they almost forgot my extra espresso, so they came outside like, "hey- wait! Get your espresso!" And apologized for forgetting to add it. Where do you like your coffee? We each have our go-to spot, our "home away from home." Sometimes it's convenience, sometimes it's the atmosphere, sometimes it's the coffee. And sometimes if you're lucky, it's all three. I count myself quite fortunate that I have not just one but two such places within reasonable walking distance of my home. One of those, Enigma Coffee in Tarzana, had one of the worst possible things a small business can experience happen just a month ago today when a car smashed through the cafe. It was the end of the day so the shop was mostly empty except for the barista and one or two customers. Just eight people received minor injuries, including the driver, and miraculously no one had to be taken to the hospital. The cafe and the building's elevator however didn't fare so well. Enigma will be in the rebuilding phase for a while, much of which has to wait until the building's elevator shaft, elevator and supporting walls are first repaired. They somehow managed to get up and running, minus the indoor seating space, within two days. But traffic is slow -- they don't exactly look open, even though they are -- so I thought I'd put a shout out for my "home away from home." When I'm heading out for the day or finishing up early, Enigma Coffee in Tarzana is often the first or last stop of the day for me. Apart from home, it's where I like to have my coffee. As for how, well, I break my steadfast rules there. I speak and write (on LinkedIn) about "coffee flavored coffee" -- a quick nod to Denis Leary. I'm not a fan of flavored coffees and I don't like my coffee sweetened. I feel if you have to sweeten coffee, it's bad -- or at least inferior -- coffee. And I'm not inclined to buy sweet, cold coffee drinks. Iced coffee is just fine with a little milk. It doesn't need any help. But I make an exception on this last point at Enigma, and that's for The Sam. It's my guilty pleasure -- a salted vanilla oat milk latte that blends their magnificent roast espresso with oat milk and their own salted vanilla syrup. It's heaven over ice. And hey, they got my memo about the oat milk. (For the record, it's also available as a hot latte -- but that's where I go for a regular latte so I can enjoy their wonderful coffee roasts.) If you arrive early in the day while they still have them, pair it with one of the magnificent lemon bars in the sadly far-too-small baked goods case -- my daughter's favorite. She's also taken a recent liking to the coffee cake donuts. The next time you're in the West San Fernando Valley, visit Enigma's Tarzana location and show them some love while they go through their repairs and reconstruction. And if you see me there, pull up a seat (outside, for now) and say hello. read more

Gives off the "hole in the wall" vibe. All the baristas are super friendly and there is always parking nearby. They are very fast considering there is only one barista there. The service was great but I found it overpriced which becomes an issue when there is no indoor seating. They have a few table/chairs outside but there is constant urine odor smell as well as all the gases from the cars cruising by. This would be the perfect spot for my morning coffee stop on my way to work, but on my last couple of visits I wasn't feeling the female on shift around 7:15. There's so much I could say but it wouldn't be fair. But, going to the back to put hard rap music on FULL blast that early in the morning is so unnecessary and way too extra. Honestly, it kills the whole coffee vibe. The guy standing next to me looked torn between placing an order or walking out. The SAM (Salted Vanilla Oat milk latte) is a must try for latte lovers. The roast is strong enough and the hint of salt gives a nice spin on the standard vanilla latte. Unfortunately, the last two I ordered made by the morning female employee were a miss. I'm pretty sure she ran out of Oat milk the first time she made my drink and added soy to compensate. The second time, my taste buds were hit by the dreaded, distinctive taste of Pacifica Oat milk. Sure enough she confirmed by saying, "I ONLY use Pacifica." Cue in the "Oh, No" song. If you know better, you only use "OATLY Barista Blend" or at least Califa, but never Pacifica. Needless to say, I haven't been back. The upside is they stay open a little later than most specialty coffee shops in the area. I've stopped in a couple of times (prior to my last experience) in the evening and everything was cool: The SAM made perfect, pleasant baristas, and music vibe on point. read more

i thought this place was 'ok'. grabbed coffee and avocado toast before work and they only had one person working foh and boh, so it took a long time maybe 20 minutes total for everything? the beans they use for the coffee lack a deep flavor and are meh. the avocado toast was delicious, coated with olive oil, lemon, and perfectly seasoned fresh arugula but i had a mini heart attack when i saw it was around 14 dollars :o the best thing about this place is the free parking in back. i really want to love this place but 20$ for a quick brekkie just won't doooo read more
