I come every month to do my facial. I still consider myself a newbie to skin care. In my 50's and trying to keep my skin youthful. I have large pores, oily skin, brown marks and white spots under my eyes. Erica is very knowledgeable and educates me on products and how my skin can benefit. My brown marks are lightening up, white spots gone and the crater holes I had from teenage acne days are minimized to some being gone. Over time and the follow through at home has made a big difference in my skin. One day I was running late 20 minutes she still took me in and did not make me feel bad. Another thing Erica does is have a list for you of all the products she will be using. She uses different products each time. I've been coming to this salon for years for both massage and facial and love the people and the service. I used to suffer from regular lower back pain and back would give out and have me bed ridden for days. Was on pain killers and even got cortisone shots. Since getting regular massages with Natasha I no longer have back problems. Haven't had back go out in years. She's the best. Just had an amazing facial with Erica. Her products are all natural and luxurious. She's been doing a UV light thing too. I cannot recommenced Meghan enough! Scheduling an appointment with this East Sac salon was so easy with their online booking system. I picked her because of her proximity to my school. The online system sends email reminders which was nice. Finding the place was easy and there is lots of parking. The building is more like a medical office building rather than a spa but inside their studio it was decorated with a spa-like environment in mind. Walking in there was Meghan waiting for me behind the receptionist desk and she showed me right to her room. I got my Groupon lemon facial done by co-owner Erica. The product she uses smell heavenly and it felt like cool whipped cream on my face. I later got a Groupon massage by the other co-owner whom I cant recall the name and it was completely ordinary. It felt like I was the last appointment of the day for her or the fact that i had paid a discounted Groupon for it and she could care less if I had a great massage or not. I would have rated them probably 4 stars if their prices were more reasonable but I find their prices to be outrageously high considering the not so high end rental space and not so high end products used. They dont justify the high prices. Also, Erica had a much better demeanor than the other co-owner gal. Sometimes great service can go a long way if youre going to charge exuberant prices but if youre lacking in both departments its a no in my book. read more

The establishment -- This hidden gem is tucked away on J St., at first glance it may not seem much but as you enter, you are greeted with a calming oasis of sorts. Let's talk about two services that Enlighten Bodhi Spa offers. First, the massage. Ashely is my life saver. I'm a huge advocate of self care and for the past couple months Ashley has been a large part of my ritual. I can come in all stressed from work and leave completely loosened up and calm. She is so easy to talk to, and I loved my first few times there, that when my mom visited, I ended up taking her, and all she could say was that was hands down the most relaxing thing she's ever experienced. Second, the facials. Erica Shaw is part owner of this establishment and also the Esthetician who does the facials. Her facials offer the best of what I believe to be the very crux of a good facial -- Knowledge on how to treat the skin, no harmful chemicals, good conversation and a MASSAGE for either your hands or feet during your face mask. Recently, Erica began offering micro derm abrasion, and being a fan of her facials, I decided to enlist as one of the first customers to try it. HANDS DOWN the best investment, I come from a history of acne and acne scars that have followed me into adulthood and WOW, the very first treatment out of three has left my skin so fresh and clean, the difference uncanny. My mother saw me on facetime and was able to notice the difference without me telling her what I did that was different. Bottom line -- If you're in the market for either of these two services, Enlighten Bodhi Spa is the place to look up and book an appointment, you won't regret it. Tried this through Groupon--Upon arrival, waiting area was nice and peaceful. The massage itself was "ok", but I've had better. I felt there was a lot of hesitation on the therapists part to be more assertive, or to just ask questions in general about how, or what I was feeling. And, during the massage people were EATING outside the door and click clacking their utensils around! Who does this? I realize people have to eat but hello? We're in a Day Spa! I purchased a groupon for a massage a few months ago and have been trying to schedule an appointment. Out of the 10 messages I have left on voicemail, I received one call back. I was in the middle of something when someone called back. I returned the call 20 min later and the voicemail answered. I knew my groupon would expire feb 27th, so I called daily leaving a message. No call back. The groupon expired so I traded it and got an appointment immediately with The Body Cafe. I do not understand how this business is run. No one is available to answer calls to book appointment and no one returns messages. How are they supposed to make money??? I have been seeing Erica and Tasha since the beginning. They are both amazing women who just know how to calm and relax you. Just being in their spa will mellow you and that's before having your service. If you book a facial or wax service with Erica you won't be disappointed. She makes you feel comfort and at ease, even during a bikini wax. The facials are top notch and a true spa experience. She's very knowledgeable about products and ingredients in them and what might be best for your skin type. And I I were rich and famous I would hire Tasha to be on call all the time. Her technique is the best I've experienced, and I had previously hopped around looking for someone good. I workout a lot and she knows how to really pinpoint your problem area and loosen you up. Erica Shaw gave me a facial two day before my wedding. I have to say that not only was my skin glowing, but so was my spirit. Days before my wedding I was a stressed out MESS, and my skin was absolutely reflecting my inner turmoil. I had dark circles under my eyes, my skin was dull, dry/flaky AND oily all at the same time. Erica had soothing music playing an aromatherapy going. Immediately I felt more calm. I was a bit nervous to get a facial so close to the day of the wedding especially because my make-up artist told me to get a facial 4 weeks before the wedding date (not two days...YIKES! But really, when you are planning a wedding, who has the time?). I told Erica about my insecurities and she quelled them right away. She told me she would not do extractions on me as my face would not have time to heal before the wedding, and she used some very gentle product. As the mask was on my face, Erica rubbed my feet and legs, and her partner, Natasha (who is the massage therapist there), came in and rubbed my neck and shoulders. I kid you not, I fell asleep on that dang table. It was the best rest I gotten for weeks! When I left, my circles were gone, my skin was soft, bright and dewy, and I was calm and ready for my wedding! The European Facial here is so relaxing and helps my skin become a lot more moisturized. Erica is the esthetician and takes the time to look at what skin type your face may have and suggests products that might be better for you instead of what you're already using. I've seen a review saying she's a salesman type but she isn't at all. She's really nice and thoughtful of what someone might have in mind for their skin care routine. I have dry skin but I'm young and worry about pimples. She suggested hyaluronic acid moisturizer which she added that I can get at any grocery store and it helped my skin's dryness immensely. I can tell she really cares about who comes through the door and is eager to follow up with any questions about skin someone might have. Natasha is super chill. She's the massage therapist and she is super professional and really calm. She also takes her time with every little knot that you may have in your back. I asked for my neck and shoulders to be the point of interest and it was very satisfactory. She stretched out my entire body and got into every knot I had. Email i sent to the spa, that was never responded to: Hello Natasha, I had my massage with you on April 23, at 230pm. It was an amazing massage, however, that evening I started to feel my neck starting to ache, which this is pretty normal, I have recognized this in the past. Unfortunately, the next three days after the massage, i started taking three ibuprofens about twice a day, and drinking tons of water because my neck hurt so bad. It felt a bit like whiplash. I slept with a heating pad for a few days to try to help it as well. I figured it would go away and it started to, a little bit, around day five and six after the massage. I had booked another massage with you the day I got the massage, on the 23rd, to be scheduled for April 24, which I then canceled eight days after the April 23 massage. I cancelled it online and left you a message for the reasoning of my cancel, but i didnt get a reply back for you. I thought I should rest my neck until I had another massage.. I am worried because as of right now currently today I still am having neck troubles 20 days later, tilting my head back and turning my head to the right, and it being very stiff at night and the morning when i wake up. I am worried that there it something very wrong with whats going on and wondering if this will ever go away. Can you give me any thoughts on why you think this is happened. I remember towards the end of the massage, while laying on my back, you lifted my head and turned it a couple different ways, could it have been in the result of that? I'm sorry I have to give you this negative feedback but, I'm rather worried about what's happened. I say that because I want you to know this place rubbed me the wrong way so much (no pun intended cause I never even ended up getting a massage), I felt inclined to say something. HEADS UP MANAGEMENT (if you read nothing else here): - CUSTOMER SERVICE IS KEY WHEN YOU'RE IN THE SERVICE INDUSTRY!!!! - DON'T RUN GROUPONS IF YOU'RE NOT GOING TO HONOUR THEM OR IF YOU FEEL LIKE THEY'RE NOT WORTH YOUR TIME. - ANSWER YOUR PHONE OR GET A RECEPTIONIST TO DO SO FOR YOU. -PEOPLE ARE NORMALLY WILLING TO WORK WITH YOU IF YOU TREAT THEM WITH RESPECT AND COURTESY (you know, golden rule) First of all, my massage appointment was changed without my permission. It probably would've been fine by me, had someone personally contacted me and allowed me the opportunity to adjust my work schedule to accommodate THEIR REQUEST. When I noticed the change in the 48-hour reminder I was sent, it was too late for me to try and make any schedule changes. I called at least 10 times to try and rectify this but NO ONE ANSWERED THE PHONE (EVER!!). Also sent an email and left voicemail messages.. *crickets* The night before the appointment I get the following message: "I am not sure why your therapist moved the appointment up a half hour, the only thing I can think of is because she has a client at 5pm and if you come in at 3:30 for a 90 minute she will have no time between clients to change over her room and close out with you" This is not my problem... you should not have listed 3:30 as an open appointment time for a 90 minute session if you knew you needed a break before your 5:00 appointment. Simple. Furthermore, if this is the case, contact me to let me know before you do this.... Even worse, I've called you a bunch of times and your response is to send a half-assed email? You could've at least included a half-assed apology too.. sheesh. So I get there for 3:30 and am asked to fill out the form. Cool. I casually mentioned that I'd been there before and probably don't need to fill this out - who told me to open my mouth and say anything cause that was basically the nail in the coffin. I believe her name is Natasha proceeded to tell me the Groupons they run are for new clients only. (NOTE: Judging from her giving me the New Patient form and her perplexed reaction to me saying this, she didn't seem to know I had ever been there). When I pulled up the Groupon to check, it didn't say 'new clients only' anywhere. She quickly jumped on that fact to say it was in the email they sent. Mind you, she is referring to the appointment email...you know, the one you get AFTER you've already purchased the Groupon and booked your appointment. Other companies don't seem to have problems putting that in their terms and conditions when they run Groupons so why are you misleading people by waiting until they book? She then goes into a brief "woe is me" rant about Groupon putting up the deal without their permission and not being paid enough by Groupons. Again, point is, it was on there and people bought it. Your struggle with Groupon is not your customer's problem so don't take that out on them.. She did "offer" to take the Groupon value and apply it to the regular price but the damage was already done. Honestly, the damage was probably done after the poor response to the appointment issue but this made it worse. It was very clear to me that she did not want to perform this service... which is really not how you want your customer to feel. Maybe the massages are good, or maybe the positive reviews are written by friends... I don't know but I do know you need to work on your customer service skills. read more

I'm coming from Elk Grove so I was disappointed that I couldn't schedule them both on the same day. They were also with 2 different people. The facial was with Erica, who did a decent job. Be prepared to get the full court sales press afterwards. Her product was way overpriced. I mean, c'mon, I'm a straight male. I'm not going to buy an avocado scrub for $100. I came back the following month for my massage with another nice young lady. It was good. The thing I liked about her the most is that she didn't talk a lot during the massage.
