I really don't know why the poor stars for this location. Maybe it's because I had a horrendous experience at the last Enterprise, and had really low expectations of them as a company, but this one was great. First, I was greeted upon arrival. Scott was wonderful, helpful, and understanding when I had accidentally reserved a car at another location. I thought this would terribly delay me, but it didn't. They luckily had one available. I returned it within 24 hours and check out was seamless. I was very disappointed when I found out they don't allow personal cars on their lot for the day if you are renting, and wish that had been somewhere on my reservation. My email receipt never got to me, but a quick 3 minute phone call with Samantha helped me procure my receipt for my expense report. She was kind and friendly and patient and even waited on the phone with me to make sure I got the email. read more

I had a very disappointing experience with the new manager, Amonei. My business has rented vehicles from this Enterprise location for approximately one to two years, and we've spent well over $30,000 in rentals during that time. Under the previous managers, Craig and Jacob, I never experienced any issues. They understood my business needs, communicated professionally, and always treated me with respect. Unfortunately, that completely changed. I was treated unprofessionally and without the level of respect that a long-term, loyal customer should expect. There was no attempt to understand the situation or value the relationship we had built with Enterprise over the years. When I contacted the 1-800 customer service number to speak with a manager or someone who could address my concerns, no one followed up with me. Instead, I was repeatedly told it was a "corporate decision" and that I needed to return the vehicle. The issue involved my payment card being temporarily locked--a security feature I routinely use. This has happened several times over the past year, and whenever Enterprise called, I simply unlocked my card and the payment was processed without any problems. Craig and Jacob were familiar with this process, and it was never an issue until now. What is most disappointing is the lack of customer service. After spending more than $30,000 with this company, I expected to be treated as a valued customer, not as if my business meant nothing. Looking back, I could have purchased a vehicle for my business with the amount I've spent in rentals. I chose Enterprise because of the convenience, the reservations, and the excellent service I previously received. Sadly, that level of service is no longer there. The entire staff at the Tyron St location is rude. I can't believe the hassle I've had with my Enterprise rental! I traveled from Raleigh to Charlotte with a confirmed rental car reservation, only to arrive and find out they didn't have a car for me. How can I have a status = confirmed reservation and no vehicle available?????? I got fed a lot of BS at the store.. since they did not have a phone number on file they could not call me to inform me. Well, why does your system allow bookings without a phone number?? Also if you do not have a car available then why did you not cancel the booking together??? This is malpractice, and tomorrow I am talking to my legal team about suing your store manager, area manager, and Enterprise as a whole for malpractice. Even though my pickup was scheduled at 12pm, they would not let me pick up a vehicle since they closed at the time and "keys were locked." He told me to Uber to another location where a car would be available, but it turned out the other location had no availability. The team there then told me no other vehicles were available. I had no way to get to my destination that was imperative. I then called Enterprise Customer Service over the next couple of weeks regarding my concerns but never heard back or resolved my issue. I have rented from this spot before, but I have to say, I was very disappointed with my most recent rental. Typically, their service is efficient and you're in and out quickly, but this time, it was almost an hour from start to finish. Other customers had come and go, but the team was still cleaning my car. I also expressed that I wasn't happy with my specific rental, because I have rented it before and the car is just not meant for a short girl (thank goodness for a backup camera) but I was told this specific car was all that they had. When I finally received my car, it took an additional 15 minutes or so to find the actual key to the car. Fast forward to actually driving the car, it was quite clear that the interior wasn't cleaned. There was a sticky substance all over the one side door and dash to the point that I couldn't move the air vent. It also clearly smelled of smoke, which I know they can't do anything about. It all depends who assists you as I see numerous one star/bad ratings. I had a tremendous experience and it was my first time ever renting from this location. Maybe I got lucky, but Adam was the absolute best and took care of everything so professionally, friendly, and efficiently all at once. I got there first thing at 8:00 AM and as soon as he opened doors for business he greeted me and I felt the good energy right away. He was the man and made the process very easy and comforting. Big time props to him and how he handles his customers. It's unfair to Enterprise as lot of the horrible experiences and reviews may be from the past and those employees may not be working there no longer. The front desk and branch manager at this location were rude, disrespectful, and condescending! This was by far my worst experience with Enterprise, and I'm strongly considering finding another company for my future car rental needs. I called the day before to confirm my rental and ask if I need any additional documents to pick up the vehicle because I had an out of state license. I was told, I'd need a credit card; I could not use a debit card since I had an out of state driver's license. Upon arriving to pick up the vehicle, the representative informs me that they cannot accept my credit card because it doesn't have a chip (come credit cards don't have chips yet). I explained to him that I rented from Enterprise at the Charlotte airport a few days prior to this, and I used the SAME credit card, and it wasn't a problem. He insisted that it wasn't possible to rent the vehicle without a credit card with a chip. I asked him to call corporate. At this point, the man who was standing next to him identified himself as Adam, the Branch Manager. I then turned to him and asked him to call corporate. He said, "I'm the Branch Manager, and I know that's not possible. Corporate is going to tell you the same thing. If the airport rented you a vehicle with this card, you'll have to go back to the airport." He willingly transferred my rental to the airport. I asked for them to give me a ride to the airport, and he originally said no, but after a few minutes of disputing, he obliged. One of the driver's took me to the airport and explained the situation to the manager at that location. Ironically, the manager at the airport said, "No, take her back to your store and rent the vehicle to her. Credit cards don't have to have a chip in them." He attempted to call Adam and the store several times, but no one answered. The driver took me back to the original Enterprise location and told them what the Airport manager said. Upon this conversation ending, Adam proceeded to get on the phone and call someone. After a few minutes, he came to me and said, "I just called my district manager, and you're right it is possible to use a credit card without a chip, but we don't do that at this location." After a few more minutes of disputing with one another, he had the audacity to say, "Well, I'll do you a favor and help you out; I'll go ahead and rent you a vehicle this time.? No sir, you're not doing me a favor; you're doing YOUR JOB! If it's a requirement for credit cards to have a chip in them, then customers should be told that upon making/confirming their reservation. I'm very disappointed in Enterprise and the customer service that was provided. read more

The rating is a 1 because zero was not an option. Made a confirmed reservation on a Thursday at 5:30pm to pick up car at the Enterprise at 1102 S Tryon Street at 10AM of Friday. Got a call from Enterprise, while I was on another business call, at 5:45pm asking me to return their call. At 5:55 I returned their call to the number provided. That number put me in a queue where after waiting over 30 minutes, no one responded so I hung up. Go to pick up the car at 10am and was told they had no cars and would not have any that day. I asked how could they confirm a reservation with no cars - also, if they knew they didn't have one why hadn't they gotten one from another location. No answer - was told the closest Enterprise that had a car was in Indian Trail - 15 miles away - they did say they would have it sent over or take me to it - just that was where it was if I wanted to go get it. Complete unprofessional, deplorable, service from Enterprise. Also, there were six employees there behind the counter - why do you need six people working when you have no cars? I was only getting the car for an important meeting that day so I was out of luck. No one ever should rent from these people as they are unreliable. read more

This review is not isolated to one site. Even though this office was the poisoned cherry on top. I first tried to rent at the concord airport through an online reservation. Ubered over there to be told they did not have the car I reserved and I would have to pay more (Bait & Switch). Eventually contacted the Enterprise 800 Support and got another reservation at this office only to have this office do the same bait and switch. When I said what about the reservation made by your HQ, they said they don't have to honor those. They just kept saying "have a blessed day" and eventually hung up even when I agreed to take their higher price (out of desperation of needing to get to work and having a baby with me). I called Enterprise support again they promised the district manager would call us back and make it right. 3 calls later over 5 hours only got the same message. Never got a call back or rental. I had to get a family member to come get me and my son. Out several Uber costs and a day of frustration. read more

I rented a vehicle on a Friday afternoon @ 4pm and dropped it off the following Sunday @ 4:10pm( the location closes @ 4pm). When I parked the vehicle and began walking towards Enterprise office, I noticed an employee drive past me and thought to myself I hope someone is still here... As I got closer to the door, the car that passed by circled back and the driver asked if I was dropping off the Armada(rental vehicle), I said that I was and he took the keys from me and said he would get it closed out and handed me his card. This young man went out of his way for me, outside of business hours, on a Sunday. People are very quick to complain about subpar service, so I wanted to take this opportunity to highlight the above average service I received from Enterprise @ their 1102 S. Tryon charlotte, NC location. I believe the employees name was John. Employees like John are incredibly valuable to organizations, especially in an industry where you have so much competition. We have used this location before because it's close to where my Wife works. We usually have a good experience, but not this time. We had a 2 pm reservation, but when my wife was brought to the location, she was told that they wee waiting for a car. An hour later, she was given a car that was scratched and dented. The inside of the car had stained seats, and smelled dirty. She was given the choice of either a 10% discount, or no car. She was already late getting back to work, so she took the car. On her way to work, the oil change light came on. She called and was told that they had just changed the oil, so not to worry about it. On the way home that evening, the tire pressure warning came on. When I saw the condition of the car, I called the 800 #, and was told to contact the branch in the morning. The next morning I called when the branch opened, and explained the situation to the rep. He promised that they would have a car to exchange for us. My wife set a time to make the switch, and arrived on time. Again, she was told that she would have to wait, that the car was being cleaned. Finally, she got her replacement car, but no apology from the manager, though every desk rep she spoke to seemed to be sympathetic. I can't say that we won't be back, because we don't have many options close to my wife's office. Hopefully our next rental will be a better experience. read more

I was very disappointed in the SUV I rented. The SUV was filthy on the outside! I even pointed out the large bug stuck in the windshield wiper. The inside was not much better.The front seat had a hole in the seat, and once I got the SUV home, I noticed a hole in one of the back seats! I don't think the interior had been wiped down in a while. The car had less than a full tank of gas. My husband filled the car up, and took it through a car wash. He still had to clean the windshield more even after going through the car wash. Once my husband and I started out on our trip, we got a notice that there was low tire pressure. We found a gas station and had to put air in all 4 tires because all had low pressure! I found a "check-list" in the glove compartment that Enterprise had completed from a previous rental....wish someone had remembered to complete the check list for my rental! read more

One of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had. I snagged a deal off of Expedia. When my family landed in CLT from Los Angeles I took a ride share to this branch of Enterprise to pick up my reservation. The first weird moment happened when the woman serving me asked about the SUV that had been reserved for us and and a male clerk said that it didn't have gas. She then looked right at me and said that all she has available were compact cars or a Jeep Wrangler (like I didn't hear what her co-worker said). I asked if she could fill up the SUV with gas and she said she couldn't because it would take 20 min and she was busy. I was with my wife and two boys (ages 4 & 2). I decided that a Jeep was better than having no transportation. She asked for my credit card. I only had a debit card available. Expedia made no mention that I needed a credit card, so I had bought our plane tickets and booked our hotel on our credit card. I was informed that they don't rent to people from out of state without a major credit card. Fair enough but I was pissed. They wouldn't let my sister in law use hers. She couldn't take my reservation and then make me a driver. Basically no cooperation. My kids were getting lit. I asked what else I could do. They replied with nothing. I asked if anyone rents to people with a debit card and the guy says that the airport does. That would have been good info five minutes ago when I was leaving. I asked if they would call to see if the airport Enterprise had a car I could reserve. They said no, that it takes too long. I looked around and there was literally five employees and no customers in the store. He told me that he would give me the number but that they rarely answer the phone at that location. I slammed my hands down on the counter. Said this is ridiculous and stormed out. We had travelled 36 hours, had two flights cancelled, and driven the last leg at 3am from Atlanta to Charlotte with strangers who offered us a ride since their flight was cancelled as well. Good Afternoon, I just received a letter stating that I am held responsible for the damage of my rental car. I never received any feedback from the issues of when I first received my rental car, which I would like to bring up again. I have used enterprise numerous times, and this is my 2nd time using enterprise at the south tryon location in Charlotte, NC. I am extremely disappointed, and very upset at my experience this past time. I received a reservation for my rental car to be picked up. I went there at 2pm, and the first employee there was extremely rude to me. She said the had 3 cars available, but would not be able to get me a car until 5pm or so today, or possibly even not till the next days. I waited outside for 2.5 hours, and called back, and she said she had no truck available, I said I didn't need or ask for a truck, and would take any vehicle available, as I just need to hit the road, so I am able to get to work the next day. I new person, the regional manager comes up and immediately says hey here is a truck available right now, we will just clean it up, and it should be ready in few minutes. When the car was pulled up, it was fithly on the inside and outside, with pollen everywere, and dog hair all in the truck. The rep that helped me, a tall blonde haired guy named David or Daniel I believe was amazed at how dirty it was when they gave it to me, and said, "Man this is awful, I will get this washed again for you". I said no I didn't have time, we gave it a very quick glance over, and I left. I did not cause this small dent in the vehicle, and I could have easly missed it, when we were looking over it, being that it was so dirty, and I had to wait for 2.5 hours, and just wanted to leave. This is very unsatisfactory. I have never wrote an email like this, or have never given a company a bad review, so this will be my first time. I want you to continue to look into this matter. I would also like you to talk with the male employee about how filthy the truck was before he gave it to me. THe absolute worst experience I have ever had with customer service. The assistant manager Tyler was absolutely rude and disrespectful! We had a confirmed reservation and got there and was told it would be an hour before a car would be ready! She never apologized or attempted to call another store.... And this was thanksgiving eve. She also lied and said my phone number was not attached to the reservation even though every other enterprise and customer service said it was on my reservation! When I reserve a rental car, a week in advance, I expect it to be there when I arrive to pick it up. Especially when I reserve an SUV for the express purpose of being able to accommodate luggage. Today I had a reservation at this location, and prior to me coming I was called and told what I needed to rent a car. The lady asked me if I would be using a credit card or a debit card, I told her that that I would be using a debit card the same card that I used at a different location that I normally go to back in February of 2020. She said ok so I had to pay for a ride to get to the location because they are not picking up customers at this time due to the COV-19. Once I arrived everything was normal until it came time for me to pay I was told I needed a debit card that had a chip on it. I do own a debit card with a chip but did not have the available funds on that card to pay for the rental. I asked why was I not told this information the day before no answer????? I was offered a free upgrade but that will not replace the time I wasted and the money I wasted getting rides back in forth. I should have been made aware of this major detail so that I could have had the funds on my card with a chip. So now I have no car wasted money and time. I feel like they should do a better job at making customers aware of the changes that they make and the requirements that any customer will have to have in order to do business with them, this was a fail at customer service period. Also consider what type of customers you are dealing with, I am a perferred member and have been for some time now and that did not matter I was treated like some ramdom person that was needing a rental car. The place is very overgrown and doesn't look like a landscaper has been there all year. Weeds are growing through the side walk 18-24" tall and bushes have not been trimmed in forever. This location came recommended to me, so I rented a car for a week. Everything seemed great at the rental office, however, the rental price was slightly different than the online price. (to be clear, I did not reserve the car online, I just checked the price while standing at the rental office) When I inquired about the reason for the difference, the sales person informed me that the additional cost was taxes and fees. I returned the car to the airport location, and the rep there read through the list of charges. One of the items listed was Road Side Assistance Protection. In the invoice it is listed as RAP, an acronym that is not intuitive for most people. I told the airport rep that the situation struck me as a very shady business practice. As a remedy he did not charge me the fee to drop the car off at a different location. Bottom Line, if you go to this location, pay attention to the charges. Everything was going satisfactorily...til it came time to deal with their customer service or lack thereof. First of all, I had reserved a Jeep Renegade and they told me that all they had was a minivan. I didn't really care too much, but asking if "that's ok?" is a bit disingenuous if it's my only option. Now to the meat of the issue. When it came time to pay for the vehicle, they scan my card and it fails to swipe. (There is something wrong with the strip and I have since had it replaced. I wasn't aware of this at the time.) The man helping me then goes on to tell me that per Enterprise policy, I can't rent the car without a physical swipe of the card which prevents fraudulent activity. To his credit, he did as I asked and tried the typical tricks for getting a card to swipe. When that didn't work, he was more or less over and out with me. I was on a time schedule and now I don't even have a car or much time at all to attempt to adjust. I pulled up my account and showed him that there was PLENTY to work with. I asked him to call the card company. Nothing was going to sway him from this..."policy". I was blindsided and stunned. He went on to condescendingly explain that my card could've been found moments before coming into that location and I could be using it fraudulently. This, despite the fact that I JUST showed him my drivers license with the same name on it. At any rate, they wouldn't let me rent the car and my travel was severely impacted. AT THE TIME OF WRITING THIS, THERE IS *NOTHING* in the terms and conditions, acceptable forms of payment, or other such fine print on the Enterprise website that states this policy at all. I went to the next car rental, Budget, on South BLVD--not one issue and got a free upgrade AND I only charged a 100$ deposit vs the 200$ deposit Enterprise was going to charge. Because of this experience, I will NEVER even consider Enterprise as an option and will speak out to anyone against using them. read more

The van I rented was ok, however the experience as a whole was not. I reserved my van over the phone and was given a confirmation number. I even called a couple days later to confirm reservation, price and location. I was quoted $419. When I got there to pick up my van I was told that I could not drop it off Sunday and was charged $583, not included tax and insurance. Bottom line: don't go there if you actually need a particular kind of car. Go to the airport one. I have always been very happy renting cars from Enterprise, it is the company I use most often. I had a reservation for a full size car and called ahead to check if they would have one. The manager answered that they did not and she would need to give me a small SUV. Sine the entire point of the rental was to have a car with better gas mileage than my current car I said no, that was not what I needed, I can't use that. I made that extremely clear. She said to Call back later to check if they had anything at the time I needed to pick up the car. Since I was driving by there anyway I stopped in to check. When I mentioned I had called about the full size car she smiled and said "I think we can get one, just have a seat". For the next 30 minutes I waited while the employees kept answering the phone to take on new clients while basically ignoring the room of 4-5 customers that were in front of them. Not one person called to see if they could get a car. Someone dropped off a Fusion so I thought "Great, I can wait for them to clean that car". Finally after 30 minutes she said okay I can take car of you now. After chatting a bit I asked "So you what kind of full size car did you get?" And she responds "I have a small SUV for you." Naturally at that point I was ANGRY. I told her that was not acceptable, and I had already told her that! Why did she waste my time when she knew she didn't have a car for me? She again said "Well I can check around to try to find you one" which obviously was a lie because she had just spent much time answering other calls and not trying to find me a car. Her tactic was to make me exasperated enough until she got me to take the car she couldn't get rid of! I asked her about the Fusion that had just gotten dropped off and she said that was for "another delivery". So I was standing there waiting for a car, she had one but wouldn't give it to me! Finally I just left and went out to the airport to get what I needed. Which cost me about 50% more. Here's the thing: if someone tells you they need a specific kind of car, don't jerk them around until you think you can force them into something else! Had she just told me up front she couldn't help me I would have been fine with that. What I object to is her wasting my time and trying to manipulate me into something else. And answering the phone to deal with new reservations when she had customers in front of her that were waiting for service. read more

OK the staff was very helpful in pick up and especially at the return. When I asked if I could get a ride to the airport the woman at the desk said I could drop it off at the airport for no charge. The airpor drop off was very easy and the staff there was perfect, check out took all of 2 Min. The only negative was that when the car got up to 65MPH (the speed limit) it started to shake noticeably . once again the staff was courteous when I called in to report the problem. the told me I could bring it to the location in Asheville were I was traviling to but I never had the time and delt with it on the commute . all and all a good experience . I just had a car for 4 weeks in NY due to an accident and the staff there was helpful also. but the aked for the car back after the third week because they sold it and it took over an hour and the pick up and drop off were not nearly so effortless in NC read more
