I booked through Priceline and booked under one price, but when I got there, they told me a completely different price and said that they were not able to adjust it because it was done through Priceline and then I would have to contact Priceline. Unfortunately, I had a very bad experience with this company. I flew into town and had a reservation at 8am (having booked through the website relatively easily)- but upon arrival to pick up the rental, I had not received any pick up information, nobody was at the business to talk too, and the phone number provided in the emails no one answered even with multiple calls during business hours. Having the reservation at 8 but no one was available to get the car resulted in me not even receiving the vehicle to get to my destination. I tried calling again later in the day to get a hold of someone and still got no response, so I was disappointed with this company and left to go find other services to get to my destination. read more

Rates here are attractive but...at the counter the training is to upsell you on anything; like their insurance versus your own or my favorite 'surprise fee,' the additional driver. When asked if I wanted to add my partner I asked if we might want to so there was agreement. 'Why not!!' But what was never mentioned was the upcharge of $13per day for another driver. You would think that anytime an added service is discussed any associated fee would be disclosed. But noooooo!! Even funnier is having called later that first day to question the charge and being told a note would be put on the contract and would be dealt with on return. Want to know the correct translation for 'dealt with?' The counter agent handed me a business card and said it's done via email. Hmmm, they could've handled that when I called, so there appears to be a disconnect on process. The net/net is this feels like a very budget operation that needs to make money on selling extras. Came from California having full coverage car insurance. Only to be told that I must purchase their overpriced coverage because ours did not meet the coverage limits in North Carolina. What a joke! California limits are much higher then North Carolina requirements. The rental i pre paid for ended up costing me an additional $518.00 (deposit + $150.00 insurance). Worse part is a Mid Eastern gentleman came to pick up his rental. He has his confirmation number and full receipt. The lady at the counter told him that Booking.com didn't provide his contact info so his reservation was canceled. I understand things can happen, however, she was extremely rude to the poor guy, wouldn't help him during his time of stress and treated him very poorly. I had my teenage and adult children with me, my daughter and my husband who were all shocked by this ladies behavior. Needless to say he called Booking.com and confirmed his reservation was valid but the lady said very aggressively 'i will not talk to them on the phone'! She did not help resolve his issue and had him sent back to the airport with no rental. I've never in all my years seen such poor customer service. I felt she was racist because she did not talk to us Caucasian customs in this tone, nor the second Caucasian customer who also had an issue due to Booking.com. I do understand that technical issues occur and she was probably overwhelmed with all the customers having similar problems but it is NO WAY to treat a customer who is clearly on vacation or work trip trying to rent a vehicle for their travels. I travel often and was quite surprised that this type of company is used by Expedia. Although their name with Expedia is Economy Car Rental. This company falsely advertises that their cars and desk are at the Charlotte Airport. They are NOT. They are offsite and you must call to request a shuttle. They are also called Mega MC car rental. Nobody answers the phone when you call so you have to leave a message. I was unsure whether or not it was received. The shuttle arrived 45 minutes after I phoned. When you arrive on site, it is just a rundown white brick building, and I seriously asked the desk agent if this was a legit car rental place. He said it was and I asked why they advertise as Economy Car Rental but they are also called Mega MC? He said Economy Car Rental is their national brand, but Mega MC is their local company name. When I showed him the confirmation page that says their desk and cars are located at the airport and asked him why they advertise this if it is not true, he blamed it on Expedia and said they can't be responsible for what a third-party does. Where I got really nervous was when he asked me to login to a third-party website and give them my username and password to access my car insurance. I showed him my car insurance card, but he said that isn't good enough. They actually need to review my entire policy. He pointed to a paper that was taped to their front desk. It shows the exact coverage you must have in order to rent from them. This was not on the confirmation page either, so I said a prayer and entered the information. He assured me that they don't do anything with the information except check my coverage. Then he took my drivers license and credit card. Most car rental companies hold a deposit, but theirs is higher than usual at $300. It was refunded when the car was returned, but I was sweating! Then he let me know that there was a mileage restriction of 200 miles per day. Again, not advertised anywhere when I booked with them. Most car rental companies nowadays have unlimited mileage. he asked me if I would like to pay for the toll pass. I said how would I know if I needed it, I am not from the area? He told me that if I go through a toll booth, I would have to pay them the toll, plus a five dollar fee. The cost for the toll pass was 6.95 per day. At this point, my gut instinct was telling me not to rent from them, but I was already two hours into the trip and would have had to go back to the airport and try to book with another company. So I took the leap of faith. I got a Toyota Corolla, and the car ran great. Just to be on the safe side I took pictures of the entire exterior, the mileage, and the gas tank. We ended up returning a day early for an unrelated reason, and returning the car was smooth. I asked for a copy of the return paper that showed everything was undamaged and even went inside and asked for a print out of the receipt. Fast forward two days later, and I get an email of a receipt that is five dollars higher. I have called them twice and left messages to call me back so I can ask about this, but I am not surprised they haven't. At this point, I am just glad to be done with them. I had some family coming into town for a get together and needed a larger vehicle to get around during their stay. It was super easy to make a reservation online. It was actually surprising/refreshing to not have to be dropped off at the airport to pick up a rental since this a smaller company, but they do provide shuttles to the airport - you just have to coordinate your flight arrival and pre-arrange pickup ahead of time. I know the convenience of walking to the new parking structure with all the rental places is not there, but I still remember a time where the rental companies used to be a shuttle ride away... now we have the new Terminal A. Anyways, back to Mega MC. It actually worked out for me because I ended up not having to coordinate/lyft over to the location. I just walked. When I arrived, I did have some trouble locating the office (there's a particularly confusing arrow on the side of the building), but I ended up calling the office and Brianna stuck her head out of the door and waved me in. I had a small balance on my reservation (for taxes or some adjustment) but I used the same payment to make the reservation. Brianna pulled the van around and told me about some trouble areas that they've already noted (scuffs on the right rear bumper and some weird substance that ended up on the passenger rear seatbelt- my guess was kids, but what can you do). My biggest flub during the rental period was that I had written down the wrong day of return. So when it came time to return, Brianna called me to ask where the van was. I was so embarrassed, but she said it happens all the time. Overall, my first rental experience with Mega MC was great and I would rent with them again in a heartbeat. I gave them my credit card ad they said they would put a 5-7-day, $350.00 security hold which I am still waiting for. The QR code to link your personal insurance was not working for me or any of the other renters waiting in the office. I made a reservation 3 days prior to pick up for a van for 8 passengers for an airport p/u (work related). I went to pick such van up, and they told me they didn't have it. They offered me a 6 passenger one... how can I pick up 7 executives in a 6 passenger van? I was FUMING!!! I was told that at that point they hadn't receive the van (which it was supposed to be there 2 days prior to this happening). Looking for recommendations on how to file a lawsuit against Economy/ mega mc car rental in Charlotte North Carolina. I had a flight yesterday from Las Vegas to Charlotte. I landed at 3:41 pm and had a reservation to pickup up a vehicle, that I prepaid for, at 4:30pm. I followed the instructions to get the shuttle to their location. A minute later I get a call back saying my reservation was cancelled due to overbooking. I clearly was upset, and asked to speak to a manager. We reached out to them that Thursday, they claimed the deposit was released. After speaking with customer service representative, that deposit had not been released. Worst experience ever. I rented the car through Expedia. When I got there, they wanted me to pay 35 per day for their insurance even though I have my own. They did not take Expedia insurance. When I told them I had my own, they asked for the declaration page even though I had the card with me. Then they wanted a $500 deposit. I had the car for 2 days. When I dropped the car off at 7 am the office was closed. They charged 174 for a hole that I supposedly put in the back seat. That is a bold face lie. I never used the back seat. I drove the car to work and back home. I put gas in the car that morning, dropped it off, called an Uber and went to work. I wasn't there when the car was inspected. Difficult to find where to be picked up by shuttle, really run down building, no return shuttle back to airport at 6 AM (had to Uber), and car was GIVEN to us dirty (they said their pressure washer froze, but the temperatures were not that cold that day or the previous day) and then charged us $150 for cleaning fee because the car had "salt" on the outside. I found this company online and decided to give them a try do you the hours of operation. I rented a mid size car for about 63 dollars a day to include out of state deposit, which is about $350. No problem. Tapped for payment and transaction complete. After, speaking to the customer in front of me, having side bar conversation her stating "there were a lot of hidden fees". Nonetheless, I still completed the transaction. Somehow, they needed to charge me an additional 10 dollars for the vehicle size, no problem. Upon charging $10 they charged me an entire deposit $350 plus $10, which I didn't know until after leaving. I thought they would only be charging me $10 because that is what he stated. They stay open late so I gave them a call after noticing the double charge on my account. The gentlemen's stated "he see the transaction and will be refunded right away". Nothing pending in my account. Next day, spoke to a young lady let her know at this point they have about $800 dollars for a 1day rental. Explained everything and she stated "someone would be reaching out to me the next day". I asked for an extension. Still no refund. Today is the next day. Went out to car about 7am, to take kids to school. Last day of school and they are super excited and the car won't start. I look at my text messages and there is a message to leave the key in the glove box to avoid additional fees. I immediately give them a call. Now you have overcharged me, not returned my money and shut the car down, after requesting an extension. Still have not heard from a manager and when I called the customer service manager hung up on me. This experience is beyond any I've ever experienced with a rental car company. The cars are fine, a bit difficult to find as it's not on site at CLT. Beware of hidden charges. They don't show you anything you can read at pick-up; you sign electronically several times so you don't really know what you're signing. You are taking the agent's word for it (and I won't again). The price charged me was not what Travelocity told me I would pay upon arrival and I could not get them to refund the difference. I had to stop payment through my CC company. read more
