I came in looking to rent a car and even took an uber here from my hotel so I could do a day trip to Mt. Rushmore. Unfortunately, when I got there I was informed that they were all out of rentals for the day. No bueno for me! Despite lacking in inventory the ladies were very nice and gave me a list of other rental car businesses near by. She really recommended Black Hills car rental. I asked her if it was walkable and then she offered to drive me over there! I thought that was so kind of her. It definitely saved me another uber ride. Friendly customer service and rental process and rental itself was greate. However, I feel I was scammed after renting a vehicle having declined their overpriced inhouse insurance. A month or so after the rental, I received a letter with a $1k+ bill for full windshield replacement for a rock chip, with pictures that were inconclusive. The way I was responded to leads me to believe this may be a common activity for this particular location to overcharge and replace over fix, resulting in unreasonable charges. We were visiting SD from TN. Upon arrival in our RV, our motorcycle broke down and the part needed was not available. The people with us, who had vehicles, left before we did, so we decided to rent a car in Rapid City. We accidentally put in the wrong pick up date for a rental and when we went to Enterprise we were told there were no cars available. I explained the situation to Kathan (Martel) and he called his manager. Kathan was amazing! He got us into a vehicle and gave us a great deal! He was very kind, helpful and professional. Very confusing about having a Enterprise in town and one at the airport. Folks inevitably look at the wrong one and then expect the airport shuttle services to give them a free ride to the other. Rapid Shuttle is a paid service it's not free Don't expect it to be free. read more

This is the worst rental experience I have ever had. I was sent an invoice over a month after I returned the vehicle for almost $5,000. The damage they alleged did not even occur when I had the vehicle. I called and could not get them to let me speak to a manager. They told me he would call me back and I never heard from him. Rented a van In Rapid City -we had 2 adults and 4 children. Waited in a long line and finally got the keys. It was parked at the farthest distance. Fine, but when we got there, the van was dirty and reeked of cigarette smoke. I left everybody to sit on the ground in the sun and walked all the way back to get a different van. I told the girl at the counter and instead of having me wait until she finished with her customer, she made me go back to the end of the line! I finally got a vehicle that was clean and thought that was the end of it. Apparently, this girl forgot to apply the payment (I had prepaid) to the new van and suddenly I'm being sent to collections for not paying! I called Enterprise several times to get some help, but they said I had to talk to the manager in South Dakota, however they wouldn't give me the number, they said they would call me back. Of course, they never did. I spoke to several more people over the next few days and finally got someone in collections who could help me. She told me that the Rapid City office just took extra time to apply the voucher and now it was clear. Why did I have to go through all of this just because they are inept in Rapid City!?? read more

I have to say after many years of Using Enterprise they truly let me down. I booked a car and we arrived in town and the day I was suppose to pick up our car I received a phone call from a guy at Enterprise and he told me that they over booked and he had no car for me. Of course they blamed it on someone else instead of taking responsibility and then he also blamed it on Covid. My bigger issue is that he was unsympathetic and had the I could care less attitude. Unprofessional. Wanted to rent a car that I would have been a one way to Billings, MT. Rate went from normal of $40 per day to $140 per day. Unreasonable one way rate. When I tried to call, nobody in the local office answered. Then, suddenly, cars were unavailable. Apparently, they don't want to allow a one way rental. Excuse me? You're part of a nationwide chain. Had an emergency and needed good service and a problem solver and got the best of both here. We needed to swap a previous rental and were able to do it as a walk-in with no advance notice. If I wanted to talk to a foreigner about my reservations would have rented from a goddamn foreigner.

I had reserved a car back in February for 10:30pm on July 31. My airline changed my flight so that I will arrive at 5:00pm. When I called to change the pickup time from 10:30pm to 5:00pm they informed me that me charge would go from $454 to $1500. Needless to say I will sit outside Enterprise for the extra 5 1/2 hours to save $1000 dollars. These people are criminals and I will never rent from them again. I have used them many times in the past and have a number of upcoming trips, but they will never get any of my business or my companies business ever again. read more

-Enterprise has the best rental deals of any car rental place I know of. We rent about 15 times a year and use them whenever we can. They drive to you and pick you up and bring you back to the rental place, you sign the papers and off you go. When you return the car, they drive you to your destination and drop you off. Tips. Always ask for the smallest car and they never have it when you get there so they give you a bigger car at the rate for the smaller car. Very often you can rent a car on weekends for $9.99. always check for this option This pick up and drop off is no big deal if you are flying into an airport (where else would fly into) and will be flying out of the airport BUT think!!! If you use the hotel shuttle to pick you up at the airport and to drop you off, you can rent for 2 less days. Even better, if you are staying for a while you might rent for 2 or 3 times and have the rental place picking you up and dropping you off and save even more. The founder of Enterprise was a fighter pilot in WW2 who flew off of the USS Enterprise ( a member of the greatest generation) and is one of the reasons you are not speaking Japanese today. Enterprise is usually great to rent from but this location has terrible customer service. The car I rented was missing the antenna. The manager said we could buy a new one and they would reimburse me for half the cost. Rent at your own risk at this location. read more

In 1/2014, I rented a car from the Rapid City Airport. I inspected the car in the parking lot and noted a large scrape with a dent over the passenger side tire. I immediately returned to the counter and reported it to the person at the rental counter (Chelsey). She was busy with another customer and stated that she would make a note of it. I specifically told her that the damage would cost "a few hundred dollars" to repair. She never offered to take a look in person. The day after the car was returned, I received a call stating that there was a large dent on the passenger side fender and that I would be responsible. I spoke to Chelsey, who stated that the dent was much more serious than what I had originally reported. At that point, I refused to give her my credit card number as she requested. I called Jaree ** (the recovery specialist at the Damage Recovery Unit, 8663003239) and stated my case. An investigation by this unit followed and ruled that I was responsible. In April, I was sent a letter by email, stating that Enterprise was going to involve a collection agency and that they would notify several car rental agencies so that I could not rent from them in the future (this letter came form Jaree). I spoke again to Jaree and sent an email stating that I would not pay this claim since the photo of the damage was identical to the damage that I had initially seen and reported to Chelsey. Jaree referred me to the main office where I spoke to another supervisor. She offered to reduce the claim. I told her that I have no intention of paying anything since I did no damage to that car. The total damage was $894.63, which includes 268 dollars of additional fees (administrative fees $100, loss of use $105.99, diminishment of value $ 62.60). This is definitely a scam. The only thing that I am guilty of is not being smart enough to insist that Chelsey come and inspect the damage with me. I have been renting cars from this Rapid City group for almost 3 years and on a monthly basis. I did not imagine that they would try to pull a scam such as this on a steady customer. Their action has cost them over $2000 in lost rental fees since 2/2014. read more

we've used enterprise several times over the last years for our car rental needs when traveling and have always had fairly decent experiences with them. our rapid city experience at the airport was alright, as well, just not one of our best. months in advance (which really doesn't matter) we reserved an intermediate size car for a week. when we arrived at the counter, intermediates were no where to be found. i suppose that could be understandable. so we got an ugly dog of a car, a nissan altima. a car i've often admired on the road. well this experience cured that. in our next town we had a truly awful experience, and since this one wasn't really all that, we'll be using someone else next time. read more

I rented a Dodge Caliber for the weekend under the weekend special which is $9.99/ day and you get 100 miles/day. Great special. But beware of the extra fees. Maybe it's my fault for not asking more questions but I wasn't aware the insurance coverage was per day, I thought it was a one time fee. So the extra $18.99 added up quick. Besides all the extra fees which you should watch for when checking boxes, the service was great and the car ran great. read more

I will never rent from Enterprise again. I most obviously got stuck with the new guy in renting my car, who knew absolutely NOTHING about what he was supposed to be doing. My questions about the rate, the mileage allowed, the type of car, a weekly rate - he knew nothing. Every question I asked, he had to ask someone else. It's fine being new, but did anyone bother to train him at all??? He then marked down there was no damage to the vehicle, all the while muttering about all the scratches and the damage estimator. When I returned two days later to talk to the manager (because I had to wait over the weekend), she was VERY pleasant and explained to me that the original guy was new (uh yes - painfully obvious) and she would use what I was telling her as a training opportunity for him. Ok, thank you..I do appreciate that. When I returned the vehicle 8 days later, I had to deal with the same guy again. I walk in the door and he says, "Uh..you look familiar." Ya think? I was in here less than two weeks ago renting a car. Not the most professional thing to blurt out to me and it went down hill from there. The biggest problem was my forgetting my own garage door opener in the car, for which I had to call back the following day, and talk to the SAME new guy again. He puts me on hold, telling me that he will go check. 8 minutes later he comes back, tells me the car already went through the clean out and he didn't see the opener in the "lost and found" box. Must have been a large box to take so long. He then takes my number down and tells me he will call if it turns up. While I realize that my leaving the opener in the car was my fault, I would have expected the employee I called to have gone out and looked in the vehicle as well. Oh a whim, I decided I would just take time out of my morning to drive the 17 miles into town to this business and talk to someone, to maybe look around myself. I pull in, see the car, and walk over to it. There was the opener right in the car where I left it. No one had checked and it had not been cleaned out. I found the car unlocked, and retrieved the opener without notifying an employee. In fact, there were two other employees outside RIGHT there in sight that made no attempt to help me or find out what was going on. I called inside as I left, and spoke to the assistant manager. Again, I was told this would be a good training opportunity. He asked if there was anything he could do to make things better for me. Thanks - but no thanks. I'm done. I hope no one else makes the same mistake. read more

I have needed a vehicle since Friday due to a car accident. Instead of being helpful Sandy Gryder at the E. North branch said they had no vehicles until Monday at 3pm. She had stated we would be getting a Chevy Trailbazer or something similar. Ok, so knowing we have a suv reserved we go to pick it up in a blizzard with already 10 inches on the ground for this extremely rude woman to give us an Elantra and say they don't even have Trailblazers and it would be Wed before they could get an awd or suv. The absolute worst car rental experience of my life! I typically do not rent from Enterprise and sure wish that I wouldn't have this time either! I reserved a car from the in-town Rapid City, SD location because unfortunately, the airport location was out of cars. (I reserved several weeks in advance). I was aware that I would have to get myself to the rental car location from the airport, but did not realize that the airport shuttle cost $15/per person for my husband and I for an approximate 5 mile drive which wound up costing us $17/apiece because the shuttle driver "didn't have enough change". When we got to the location, we were met with a condescending attitude by the desk clerk and of course, they did not have the full-size car that we had reserved. Our choices were a Ford Focus or a Dodge Ram pick-up truck. The cars were dirty and located in a gravel parking lot. Since we were returning the car in Denver, I expected that the associate would look the car over very carefully and write down all dings, scratches, etc. We kept pointing things out on the vehicle and he kept stating "no, it has to be bigger than a golf ball size dent or a scratch longer and deeper than this card". As I told him, what was acceptable to him, may not be acceptable in Denver. Anyway, we did take the Ford Focus and proceeded on our drive over several days back to the Denver area. The manager did call me the next day after the rental to see "how our experience was" and I proceeded to air my complaints. He offered to reduce the daily fee by $4 and the drop fee in Denver by $15. When we arrived in Denver 5 days later, the employee at the drop off location was really looking over the car and pointing out things to her supervisor and looking at my husband and I like we had rolled the car over in a ditch or something. As a professional person, I did not appreciate that at all. Needless to say, I was not a happy camper. We did get the slightly reduced rate as promised, but it was still a horrible experience overall and I will not rent from Enterprise again as this is our 2nd bad experience with them not having the car available that we reserved. read more

We rented a SUV to take on our trip. The vehicle was spotless and was taken excellent care of. The customer service was one of the best I have experienced. The ladies took their time to explain everything and showed me how to work the car. I would 100% rent from them again. My only teensy tiny complaint was I rented a Santa Fe or similar. I called that morning and was told I would either have a Santa Fe or a Dodge Durango, we ended up with a smaller Jeep Cherokee. We were a little cramped but it was a very comfortable ride. read more

TERRIBLE SERVICE. Rented a car, the lady walked me around the car pointing out marks telling me things of that caliber does not matter - Took about 60 seconds. When I return the car the guy combs through for 20 minutes marking down every ding and mark. Finally gives me a bill of what it costs, and tells me that I am lucky he doesn't turn this into my insurance. There was a 1" crack in the hub cap that I would have looked over 10 times out of 10. He bills me $75 for a new hubcap. He tells me that even if I didn't cause the marks they happened while it was in my possession and there was no record of any damage in his past reports. Whoever this guy was was either having a bad day, or this business is a SCAM! I didn't even take it anywhere but work and home. I work at a business that rents cars from here quite a bit, and we will drive to the airport from now on. I love Enterprise, but this location is awful. Its almost criminal what they do. If you have to rent from here, TAKE PICTURES BEFORE YOU LEAVE. I wouldn't doubt that they have charged multiple people for the same dings and scratches. read more
