They did not give me the car that I requested and I called all other locations and they made me drive alll the way to JFK to get the right car and when I got there it was the wrong car and it takes me a hour to get to JFK so it was out of my way and I missed my hotel reservation upstate and the employees were very rude about getting the right car and keep on arguing with me read more

Needed a car while mine got some repairs. Insurance arranged. Enterprise called me to schedule and kept me up to date on my rental status. I found their customer service helpful and friendly. I would have given 5 stars if the car was washed. The inside was clean but outside filthy. The weather has been cold and lines frozen. That was their excuse. But plenty of car washes are open. I'm sorry but you should hand a clean car to a customer no matter what it takes. I almost gave 3 stars because of this but the staff was friendly And everything else was good. read more

I had the best experience with the staff at the West Islip location. Kevin B. could not have been nicer or more efficient. From picking me up and bringing me to Enterprise and renting me a great car. He made the experience a pleasure. When I returned the car I was done in 2 minutes and driven to get my car so quickly by a really nice person who may have been the manager. If I could give Zero stars I would!!! Regional manager FRANK is a scammer. He will add extra coverage to your vehicle without your knowledge or consent. I was charged $20 a day for coverage that I didn't ask for. My insurance paid 1k and I was left with $1200 bill!! When asked to resolve the issue he could simply care less about it. Same for all the other managers at the location. It must suck to hate your job! And try to make everyone else pay for it! read more

At the West Islip branch, they coerce and give you little choice but to accept the insurance coverage for significant extra charges, which is illegal in NY State: https://www.dfs.ny.gov/consumers/auto_insurance/faqs_collision_damage_waivers_rental_coverage I never was shown the contract - just the initial and signature areas on a small iPad. My vehicle was so filthy inside that my wife refused to get in. The staff gave it a quick and meaningless wipe and vac and refused to do anything more. I wanted to rent for 4 days, the contract terminated a day early and the arrogant, disrespectful manager, Billy, charged me for an extra day - with insurance. It was a one-way rental to another state and they charged a significant drop-off fee - over $300 - that I was not previously made aware of. Again, the so called manager Billy, refused to remove the charge. If you rent from Enterprise, go elsewhere. Terrible experience here. read more

I rented a car for 17 days. I had a problem with the car, and it wouldn't start. I called Enterprise and I was told to call their roadside assistance to get a jump. I was charged twice for roadside assistance and only had one jump. Why am I being charged for a damaged battery that needed a jump. I never received a receipt for my car rental and was charged 959.00. This charge is overpriced I should have paid 600 and change with the tax. I would not recommend this car rental service. read more

If you are renting the car from this place, make sure you are covered under insurance and let them know that you are not paying more than your insurance coverage for $30 or $50 / day. They won't tell you until you get the bill for extra charges and taxes or extra miles charges. Use your own insurance to minimize extra charges for $12/ day. read more

Don't ever use this place they are ridiculously over priced and took advantage of my friends father who is 80yrs old. They put him into an expensive SUV Van then charged him 1,224.00 for 8 days!! He had no idea they were charging him that much he thought they were only charging him $478 for the week now they are trying to get back half his money. RENTER BEWARE......There business practices are suspect at the very least. Upon recently renting a car, they issued the car to my husband soaking wet.....thus damage to the vehicle is not apparent. When you rent from them you must insist the car be dry so you can crawl on the ground all around the car. When you bring it back they crawl on the ground and if there is so much as a scratch....your insurance will be given a claim. No one from enterprise looked under the bumpers at the time of the rental, which leads one to think they knew about the damage prior to the rental. My husband was just the unlucky person to rent the car. The female supervisor is unwilling to assist at all.....I WOULD STRONGLY RECOMMEND NOT UTILIZING THAT ENTERPRISE RENT A CAR....AVOID AT ALL COST!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've been renting from this location for a number of years but have never reviewed. I'm torn because I've always had a very positive experience here. So, I am rating this Enterprise based upon my previous experiences with a caveat. Dean, Matt and Amanda are all great. They have always been very accommodating and professional. Matt, especially is very friendly and warm and genuinely seems to want to make sure you had a very good experience. My latest experience wasn't horrible... It just wasn't what I was used to. I called to be picked up at the Long Island Railroad train station. I was instructed to give a call about two stops or 10 minutes away, which I did. I waited out front for 15 minutes and did not see an Enterprise car. Figuring it might not be an actual Enterprise car, I called and spoke with either Dean or Matt and said, hey I'm here at the Babylon train station, waiting for my pick up. Apparently the gentleman picking me up had been waiting for me for who knows how long. It kind of would have been nice if he noticed that there was a woman looking around, for him to say, are you Lily? Waiting for a pick up from Enterprise? OK, maybe that's too much to expect but it was what I was hoping because I was used to really great customer service. In fairness, for some reason, Enterprise has an age old land line for me even though my cell phone is on file and I had changed it on the app. So I got in the car, still a tad annoyed and I asked the gentleman how his day was going, and he said,"Just OK". So I said, sorry to hear that. Again, not what I've been used to with Enterprise. When I was trying to check in, he asked me if I wanted the car he picked me up in. I said, "Sure, OK". He told me he had to clean it. So I'm waiting and waiting and clearly it's very crowded because it's the end of the day but every single person is being waited on and I'm just hanging out inside the waiting area. Finally, I go outside and I see him rinsing off the car in a very leisurely kind of way. So I said, "excuse me, I really have to get going." My sense was this young man was very tired from a very long day but I too, was very tired after a very long day and commute. Or perhaps, he's just a low energy kind a guy. Anyway, I was getting pretty impatient and just wanted to get out of there. I will say that the car was very nice and once I left, got home, and vented a little bit about the weird service I got at Enterprise, it was fine. My faith was restored when I returned the car and a young man named Nick drove me home. He was very friendly and congenial and kind of what I've grown used to from this Enterprise. Horrible business and manager. Iv been renting cars from enterprise for the last 10 years and have never had an issue. I scheduled a rental for 1/13/20 at 11:00 a.m. and also requested that I be picked up at 10:45. I received no phone call that the driver would be late and after 45 min of waiting they finally showed up. Once we got to enterprise they informed me I cannot rent the vehicle with a debit card even though I specifically called ahead of time to confirm this and was instructed that a $200 hold would be put on my card and I would be refunded later once the rental was returned. A complete waste of time. Even Enterprise.com under the rental policy confirms the vehicle and class I was looking to rent is included in the Debit card rentals. The Manager needs to be replaced with someone capable of running a business. The poor reviews for this location are key indicators of poor leadership. ***Update*** The person who responded stating that someone would be in contact with me failed to follow through. Enterprise Rent-A-Car in West Islip was the most disorganized Enterprise office I have experienced. I reserved a car for Sunday, July 1, 2018, months in advance. It was a one-way rental from West Islip to Provincetown. When I arrived to pick up the car, the office was in complete disarray. There was a long line. One man at the counter was yelling. All of the people in front of me were angry because they weren't being helped. I waited patiently. After 20 minutes, I was finally assisted. The Enterprise employee who helped me was very nice, but did not do a good job. He didn't record any of the vital car information on the paperwork (e.g., license plate number). He didn't talk to me about insurance options. He didn't go over the bill or anything else. When he went to get the car, he backed it into the service area and vacuumed it. Shouldn't that have been done already? When we did the damage inspection together, I saw a scratch that he didn't initially see. So he just wrote a quick note on my paperwork that said, "scrape pass side rear." See the picture. When I returned the car in Provincetown 7 hours later, they found the scrape on the rear passenger side and accused me of damaging the vehicle. I had completely forgotten that we had seen this damage and the Enterprise employee recorded it. The car apparently was sent all the way back to West Islip for inspection. Due to their sloppy record keeping, they had no notes about the damage, and referred the "incident" to the Enterprise Damage Recovery Unit, which is now trying to recover damages from me. The experience has been very stressful. Now that I have located this note ("scrape pass side rear"), I fully expect the damage recovery efforts to be dismissed, but I'm not hopeful it will go smoothly. read more

They are very close to my home but I travel to Hertz after all the hassles and the attitudes of the staff. Stay away!!!! Worst car rental experience I've ever had!! My senior citizen mother, had her parked car totaled and needed a rental. The car insurance, of the woman who hit her, set up an appointment with Enterprise, said they'd cover everything and acted like it wouldn't be a problem at all. They never told us that we'd have to pay a deposit and they told us that we wouldn't have to pay anything out of pocket however, Enterprise said they needed a deposit and that it could only by paid by credit card. My mother doesn't have a credit card so I thought we could just put it on mine. Enterprise wouldn't allow me to pay the $50 deposit on my credit card, with my permission, when I was present and had photo ID. Then they called Higbie Collision, where my mother's car was located and proceeded to tell us that they couldn't allow her to rent a car because her car wasn't at Higbie Collision!! WHEN IT WAS THERE!!! They were treating her like some kind of dishonest criminal! My mother presented them with the accident report as well as towing information, insurance claim numbers and all other information...etc. and they were still giving us an extremely hard time!! By this time my poor mother was in tears and well over an hour late to work. The manager, Alex, was very rude to us and handled the situation unprofessionally. When he eventually accepted a money order (because they refuse to accept cash) he had the gall to tell my mother that he was doing her a favor!! Any time I've rented a car in the past (not from Enterprise) the whole process went smoothly and the staff was kind, courteous and helpful. This is not the appropriate occupation for someone with an attitude like Alex. Please save yourself the aggravation and go somewhere that knows how to handle customers, especially senior citizens, with the kindness and respect they deserve. This is a review of the Enterprise at 450 Sunrise Highway, in West Islip only. My Daughter and Son-in-Law have had excellent experiences at the Enterprise on Hylan Blvd on Staten Island. I made my reservation, I have a credit card like they require bit for some reason since my card did not go through, I couldn't use my debit card because I didn't bring proof of employment! I rent a car occasionally when my car is in the shop. The last time I rented a wonderful Hyundai Elantra but didn't take additional insurance. When I brought the car back it had a small crack on the bumper that was not there before. I think maybe someone bumped into me when I was parked. The information was sent to my insurance company but was still hounded to pay out of my own pocket. They blamed my insurance company for the miss communication. As I feel now I would never rent a car from them again. I also had problems with them not answering their phone or e-mails. I may rent from Budget Rent a Car next time. read more

What a joke, I set a 1pm reservation and they close at 1pm. They dont tell you that you need a pay slip (no one get pay slips anymore) and a utility bill to rent a car with a debit card. When renting a car here I was told when picking up the car that it would cost me $30 a day and that insurance would be covering $20 a day. So I was responsible for the difference of $10 a day. I also expressed that I did not need additional insurance since an insurance company was paying for my rental car. I recieved a charge on my credit card the day after I returned the car that was double what was expected. Instead of being charged the $120 plus tax for the 12 days of renting the car I was charged $403. Turns out I was charged $40 a day instead of the $30 a day that was agreed upon picking up the vehicle. They also charged me $9 a day for the additional insurance that I said that I didn't want in the first place. Here I am over a week later and still fighting with these scam artists to get my money back. Sav yourself the hassel and go elsewhere! read more

When you have a wife who always gets in accidents but it's never, ever, her fault its good to have a car rental company that you can go to and 20 minutes later your on your way. We were lucky enough to get a 2012 Mitsubishi Eclipse. Now the RENTERS BEWARE review from Dotti is true of any car rental company, that why I always walk the car with the associate noting every scratch and dent even rust, they will usually say if it isn't 3 inches don't worry, I still say "please circle it". If the guy pauses near a certain area of the car wait till he moves and check that area. The car wasn't cleaned inside or out and there was barely enough gas to go up the block but that was because it was just returned. The gentleman offered to clean it but my wife was in a rush and we just wanted to open that bad-boy up on Sunrise Hwy. What makes it even greater is our insurance company Geico informed Enterprise we were on our way, so they were expecting us. And when we picked our car up at the body shop 2 weeks later a Enterprise Associate checked our rental out and returned it to the rental location... Great convenient time saving benefit they offer. It's okay if you want to TLDR this but: Dear Reviewer Robert. I beg to differ. I got in a little fender bender myself, the garage was backed up so I was stuck renting a car for a couple days. Granted I already wasn't happy about having to rent, I was relieved when the garage set up my Enterprise rental for me last-minute, I went over just before closing, and the representative says cheerfully: "Congratulations! Looks like you'll be rolling out of here in our brand-new Hyundai Elantra!" I thought: I am on a game show. And I think I just won. That is what's happening. A game show of life. The rep was nice. A little too nice, I thought. And talking a little too fast through the details of the rental agreement. Sho nuff, I have been signed up for every single extra insurance option on God's green earth, EVEN THOUGH I have Geico and my coverage crosses over. I decline some of the optional coverages. She's eager for me to just sign. Wait though, why is this calendar billing? I'D ACTUALLY LIKE 24H BILLING. (This comes into play later.) She acquiesces to change it, and then I sign. I get into the car, and It smells like McDonald's in there. (NOT in the good way.) I keep the car less than 48h. According to my calculations by ballet fingahz, this equates to 2 days. I get charged for 3 days. Hm. The charge creeps onto my credit card transaction record exactly 53 days after end of rental period. Hm. It's significantly higher than what my simple mental math would have guessed. HMM NOT OKAY. I try to settle it directly with them. It's charged to Amex, so I easily could have disputed the charge and probably end up getting the whole amount refunded to me. I call and request a breakdown of charges. It's actually wrong, as I suspected. I've been charged for one of the optional coverages I'd declined. Sloppy.... I ask for an actual copy of charges, which I haven't been provided with prior to the close of transaction. It will take 7-10 business days, I am told. But ain't nobody got time for that so I actually go there, rental agreement in hand. They refund me the incorrect optional coverage charge. I get the breakdown printed for me right away. THERE ON THE BREAKDOWN I HAD TO ASK FOR TO GET DO I SEE THAT I WAS CHARGED FOR AN EXTRA DAY. Enterprise peeps tells me to clear it up with the garage that accepted the rental return. I get them on the phone and they read off the date and time on the receipt in their records. They sound as annoyed as I feel at this point. Problem is, Enterprise dude won't change it in the system to reflect the correct drop-off time. Can't, he says. Hm. He is okay with handwriting it onto my printed copy however. A lot of good this does towards getting me my refund oh wait it doesn't.... He insists he is right. Some noise about calendar billing, for every calendar day the rental period touches instead of 24h billing. Uh. False. I would have pointed to the rental agreement where it clearly said "24h billing" then I realize he has slipped my copy of the rental agreement under a pile of papers on his side of the counter. Hm. That's mine I say. Okay, he says. Can I have it back then? (Duh.) Cuz listen I know I may look stupid on Mondays, Wednesdays, and sometimes Thursdays, but.... Oh btw, this was the branch manager. So, can't change, or won't change? Fine. I leave. And I call corporate. AND IT GETS TAKEN CARE OF IN MY FAVOR. Mind you, the total refund represents 35% OF THE ORIGINAL ERRONEOUS CHARGE THAT IS A LOT. So not to discourage you from renting here, just make sure you understand the rental agreement and your charges. Our experience with Enterprise at both the pick up site in West Islip in NY and drop off at Bradley International Airport in CT was stellar from the moment Dean Morelli picked us up untill we dropped off in CT. The car, the service, the speed, and the professionalism of all their employees was remarkable. We rented from them once before a few years ago when we visited Long Island and were pleasantly surprised so we rented a car from them again on this trip. Enterprise in West Islip are a bunch of thieves. I rented a 2013 Ford that one of the employees named Mike, said I should use Flex Fuel to save money. Flex Fuel is not readily available so he had to direct me to a station to fill up the Ford Edge. Turns out the employee of Enterprise was wrong, and he apologized profusely. Even when the car was returned after 12 hours because of loss of pickup, he kept apologizing. We took a replacement car at that time. Now I just received a letter in the mail that I damaged their car. WHAT??? I called the Claims Recovery Unit and they said they would do an investigation. They called me back after speaking to the office, and told me they denied ever telling me to use that fuel. Well there you go, Enterprise are liars, and are thieves as they try to harass me and collect from me and my insurance company and create a claim. I won't pay for the mistake of this character, Mike at Enterprise. Beware, as others have warned. Enterprise is NOT consumer friendly and lie, cheat, and overcharge the customer for the reason to cover their profits, even when they know that they are in the wrong. BEWARE OF ENTERPRISE!!!! This employee, Mike should rot in a hot place down under, because he lied instead of taking the consequences for his mistake. Shame on you Mike at Enterprise. From now on, I will use Hertz. This review was updated, after receiving a call from the manager, Chris, who informed me that the employee that actually told me to use Flex fuel was named Mike. To his credit, Chris did attempt to rectify the problem, although to no avail. However, the fact remains that Enterprise continued to attempt to collect damages from me and my insurance company for the claim, until I wrote a number of reviews, contacted the Better Business Bureau, and spoke to the managers at my insurance company about Enterprise's tactics. Enterprise did back down and finally admit to their error, only after causing undue grief and worry for my wife and myself, and cause multiple people to get involved at Liberty Mutual. One fact remains, I won't use Enterprise, and hopefully this employee owned company will realize that it is much more profitable, to devote their resources to providing additional training to their staff, which Mike needs, and listening to their existing customers rather than spending money on advertising trying to develop new customers. Getting a new customer is easy, but keeping a customer satisfied for repeat business is key. read more

The staff was friendly and courteous. The car itself was not very clean and smelled like smoke. When I mentioned this when I dropped it off they didn't offer me anything. I was simply told that they tell customers not to smoke but they do any way. The car only had half a tank of gas when I picked it up, first time this happened in the over 30 years of renting cars. They also charged me $250 deposit, which I did get back. Once again never had this happen before. read more
