This company's estimate was extremely reasonable. Customer service throughout, from scheduling to billing, was courteous and professional. The crew that trimmed the trees were excellent, knowledgeable, careful and hardworking. I have gotten estimates and employed a number of other tree trimming services in the past, and I highly recommend this company!!! Many of the reviews I've read on here don't seem to make much sense. AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS! The crew made a huge mess leaving behind pieces of concrete, one of which weighs 100+ pounds. Machinery was driven everywhere on our lawn. If reaching branches from the street wasn't possible couldn't they have at least tried to minimize traffic on the lawn? Legit it was like watching Mario Cart on my neighbors and I lawn. Large branches stacked on the lawn rather than the street which again, no sense of organization or regard for lawn care. Tree stump wasn't ground all the way, the crew just used the thin layer of bark to cover it up. Reached out to the manager to see if the concrete chunks could be cleaned up, unresponsive. We had our six trees trimmed and shaped in January. Three must be 60 years old and quite large. Another two trees were cut back from wires by Xcel and in need of a good shaping. The last was a smaller locust that needed a trim to encourage a good growth pattern. The crew were supportive of each other and worked as a team--some men were climbing the trees and cutting while others were cleaning up as they cut. All limbs and branches were taken to their grinder and my yard was clean and tidied when they were through. Dead wood, crossed branches and snow damaged branches were removed. The trees look so much better and healthier for their work! Their prices were competitive and the work was completely to my satisfaction. Buyer beware: Environmental Tree Care will certainly cut your trees, but may also leave the work space dirty and damage your property. On the day of my tree cutting, I had to leave for work before they came to my house. I called and spoke with their team to 1) confirm I did not have to be home and 2) request they do not cut down branches supporting string lights in my backyard. She confirmed that I did not have to be home, and she would speak with the crew to ensure they did not remove the branches supporting the lights. When I got home, I found my lights shattered on the ground with broken glass scattered across the backyard. While it is upsetting that they did not do what they told me they would on the phone, it is even more troubling to see the lack of respect they had for someone else's property. They removed our dead tree last year and did it without issue and did it quickly on schedule. This year, we wanted to do some landscaping work and gave them a call. They were no show for estimate TWICE. Did not give us a call at all that they won't be showing up. So unprofessional. Do not give them any business. Wasted two days waiting for them to come. However, they caused minor gutter and roof damage dropping huge pieces of wood, I tried to find a solution with the business owner, without any success, to say the least. They said someone is going to come here and fix it 3 weeks ago - nothing. Called in about 6 times now, and sent 4 emails - asked to speak with someone, nothing. I keep getting promises that someone will call me back and take responsibility - nothing. "We are very busy" is all I get. We had a 60' foot tree removed by Environmental Tree Care and they did an amazing job! Team of guys showed up, worked well as a team coordinating the controlled cuts, and they all were polite/professional with us. The guys navigated the cuts very well in a very tight space--less than 10 feet on either side (deck and fence). After cutting to the stump, the lead worker explained that the grinder would be coming, that they'd fill a few holes with dirt, and plant seed. As expected when large tree parts fall, we had a few holes in the ground but no big deal: 40 year old, 60' tree cut with no damage to the deck or fence--pro team. In the end, every branch, piece of wood, and stick was removed from the property as well as every water bottle and pack of cigarettes -- they left the property as it was when they arrived. I obtained pricing from five tree services. Project involved: Removal of a Cottonwood, Cut down of Elm with branches removed and remainder cut to 15 inch lengths, and trim of an Ash of all dead wood. Environmental Tree Care was equal to the next lowest bidder. I had an established relation with one of Environmental Tree Cares' arborist-foreman who had done exemplary work in the past, so I signed the contract. The contract included a 24 hour right of recession. After four days, I called their office to inquire of their acknowledgement and was able to schedule the work for the following week. I took a day off from work, to be here for what they said would be a one day job. I prepared an ice chest with 75+ soft drinks/Gatorade for the crew to enjoy. They arrived an hour late. The work order the foreman had in hand, did not match the contract. He was sent to remove one cottonwood and trim two trees ! Environmental Tree Care demanded more money to fulfill their obligation of the signed contract. Their General Manager appeared at my door, and said that they would only do the work if I paid $1,000 minimum additional money, which I reused as it was clearly a an unethical business practice. After an hour and half they removed their crew due to their refusal to meet the obligations of our contract. read more

When we needed to have a large tree in a confined space removed, I obtained bids from multiple vendors including one we had worked with before. I had seen Environmental Tree Care working in our neighborhood and was so glad I contacted them... their bid was not only the lowest, but the estimator immediately gave the impression he knew what he was doing. Their bid was submitted electronically the same day (also easily payable with credit card following). The crew showed up right on time, had the "no parking " signs placed beforehand, and coordinated with Xcel to do the line drops. The actual work was done carefully and with safety in mind. This is the worst and laziest construction and customer service I've ever experienced. The tree trimming part of the company was great. They dinged my house, but responded very professionally. Then they quoted for building a fence and a few gates. It was well under any other quote I got which should have been an indication. Materials: we asked for cedar, black hinges. We got red stained pine and black hinges with peeling paint. The wheels for the rolling gate were insufficient for the load they carried. They cracked. Construction: the posts were severely crooked to the point that they had to fix two of them. All gates hung crooked to the point of being impossible to open when it rains. When I brought it up during construction the dude with the long grey hair responded "it's just a fence". Insulting. They ended up having to come back and shave the gate so that it could open. He also used materials that had previously been drilled all over it. He had to replace them. The rolling gate in the back was the biggest disaster. The welder was terrible. First he used he wrong sticks and burnt up the steel. Then he made terrible welds that would better be destroyed as tacks. I had to ask them to do a better job and it was still terrible. When the rolling gate was first built one of the posts was crooked and the wheel cracked under the load of he gate. They replaced the wheel with the same kind and its starting to crack again. It's not going to last the winter. When they fixed the leaning post, they made the rails a zig zag and very difficult to roll. I asked them to make the gate lockable from the inside and they installed something that clearly won't work. Customer service: first of all, they didn't know they needed a permit to build the fence. When an inspector came and gave us a deadline, ETC finally got a permit on the last day of the deadline after I called over and over. These guys never showed up before 10am and were gone by 2. They told me it would take a week, but it took over a month. I had to keep calling over and over to get people to work on the fence or fix something that was messed up. They left gates open when they left (I have a dog and a toddler). They left cigarette butts in my yard after being asked not to. We didn't want to pay the full price since we have to get work done on it to fix their terrible work. They threatened, so we met in between. Don't use them. They are dishonest, with an F BBB rating and did terrible work. Even two of the guys that actually worked in the fence said that his boss was a dishonest jerk. read more

Had 3 trees to trim one over 40' blue spruce. Verbally during estimate was told cherry picker would be needed. The first team showed up but an orchard ladder did not work. Although I was disappointed I was wondering how this would end. They reported it and I also called in and was told "will look into it." Next morning the "A" team stormed in got it done larger team, cherry picker and completed some trimming that was missed. It was great to see ETC take responsibility, accountability and follow through to meet customer satisfaction. No small feat anymore so I thank them for all they did. Environmental Tree Care is THE ABSOLUTE WORST CONTRACTOR I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH IN MY LIFE. Regardless of price, I cannot more forcefully advise to PASS ON ANY SERVICES THEY MAY QUOTE! I contracted with them to cut down a tree on a property I was purchasing in April of 2020. I signed a contract but let them know that I would be in touch with them to schedule a time once we closed on the home. They ignored this request, despite having spoken to them and left voicemail and email messages stating that they cannot provide any services until I was in touch with them. Not only did they ignore this request and performed services before I even closed (which caused a great headache in the closing process) they also damaged the driveway, leaving large gashes in the asphalt, and ran over our downspout with their truck. When I noticed this, I called and left several voice messages with the person providing the quote and directly with the main office stating my displeasure and asked that they call me back... this fell on deaf ears and they never followed, only sending an invoice. Over a month later, ETC sent a late payment notice. When I called them to discuss this and finally come to a resolution on the damages, the only person available to speak with me was the "office manager" who is without question THE RUDEST PERSON I'VE EVER INTERACTED WITH. She was combative from the word hello. Any time I tried to explain my complaints, she cut me off and talked over me. Along with that, she hung-up on me on numerous calls. I've tried to be put through to the owner whom she claims doesn't have a phone or a voicemail inbox, so effectively all communications route through this one extremely unpleasant and disrespectful women. I needed a Russian olive tree that had grown up along a utility pole in my backyard removed, and ETC's bid for the work was significantly lower than anyone else's. They got me on the schedule immediately after I accepted the bid, then showed up right on time for the removal. The tree is now history, and the cleanup was excellent. First off, I think the reviews below complaining about "false advertisement" on being BBB gold star members should be removed. Did you use the company? Did you get a quote? Have you even spoken to anyone at the business iteself? Or are you just bashing them based on what might be a mistake? I'm more interested in opinions from people WHO HAVE ACTUALLY USED THE BUSINESS. With that said, I had ETC come out to quote a trim on a 40 foot locust tree in my front yard. It had probably been 20 years (if at all) since it had been trimmed and was badly needinhg attention. Based on a referral from a friend I called ETC. They were prompt in responding, middle of the road on price and the arborist that came out was helpful and knowledgeable. Quite pleased with the service, especially Jordan and his crew (5 stars) who removed our Maple tree and pruned our Locust tree. The guys who provided the quote were professional and explained the entire process thoroughly. The only weak areas were actually getting the work scheduled after making the choice between the three quotes we had. There is only one person, Brody, who handles scheduling and he was unavailable for most of the week we tried to make contact for scheduling. The stump grinding crew were good, too, but we had to call back a couple of times to actually get them scheduled in the days following the tree removal. read more

They removed a couple of aspen trees in our backyard last week. We had to call to ask that they come back to finish cleaning up debris that was left in our yard. It was a poor effort on the first attempt, and it took them 5 minutes to get everything cleaned up properly when they came back, so it was pure laziness on the first attempt. They also damaged our patio umbrella and didn't say anything about it. It would have been nice if they had simply said "hey, this umbrella is in our way a little bit. Would you mind moving it a few feet for us?" But instead they just decided to break it and bolt. We won't be hiring them again. read more

I called this company last Monday afternoon and ordered a full cord of seasoned local hardwood, delivered and stacked. I was promised an emailed order confirmation, which I did not and have not received, and delivery on Wednesday afternoon. I was told that this would be a cash transaction but, when I asked them to cancel the order, was allowed to put the order on my Discover. I was charged $275 for the wood, $85 for delivery, and a $50 stacking charge, though I was then offered a 15% military discount. What I received was, at best, half a cord of wet, possibly green firewood, in wildly varying lengths and stacked loosely in two separate piles, I believe to conceal the size of the delivery. I called the company twice to let them know my concern. Both times I reached and answering machine and left a message explaining my displeasure. Thus far I have received no response, forcing me to write a negative review and to open a charge dispute with the credit card company. Thank God I did not pay in cash! Needless to say, I will not be doing any further business with this company, and I will be recommending against anyone else doing business with them. read more

DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY! They are negligent, dishonest, and unprofessional! Environmental Tree Care came out in June and trimmed our large silver maple. They put three holes in our roof! The arborist didn't tell us, and we had to find out the hard way: As we were sitting in our living room after it had been raining all day, water started pouring through our ceiling. I called Environmental Tree Care right away to inform them and it took them five days to return my call. It took the owner, Ken, another week to come and look at the damage. Ken told me he would be at my house at 5:00. When he didn't show I went to the grocery store. He called me a little after 6:00 and said he was at my house. I told him to wait and I'd be home in 10-15 minutes. When I got home, he had already helped himself to my backyard and my ladder and was up on my roof with his own roofer. They proceeded to tell me that while they would take responsibility for the damage, my roof was not up to code and listed a handful of things that were wrong with it. Mind you, I'd already had two roofers come and inspect it prior to this and both of them said that it was fine except for the damage Environmental Tree Care caused. Foolishly, I also let them look at the water damage caused inside our house, and the roofer started ranting about how there was previous water damage, and you could see old patch jobs, and blah blah blah. The house was built in 1959, so I'm sure there may have been patch jobs for various things in a house this age. We've owned it for just under two years, and of course had it inspected before we purchased it. There was absolutely no visible damage prior to them trimming our tree, and up until then we'd NEVER had an issue with the roof leaking. It's not a coincidence that the next time it rained after the tree was trimmed, water started leaking into the house. The first guy who came out before Ken said it was his ladder that put holes in the roof. He knew he damaged the roof and didn't say anything to anyone. When Ken came over himself, he said that man was not telling the truth and he could tell it was from falling branches during the trim. Based on the location of the branches they trimmed in relation to the new holes, it's very clear that it was the branches they trimmed that caused the damage. Ken asked me about the estimates for repairs and I told him the estimates I had. He said he would rather just give me the money for the repairs, but if asbestos abatement was necessary he was not willing to pay for that. He asked not to go through my insurance. He even suggested I "patch" the damage and just pocket the rest of the money. Of course, I went through my insurance company, who is currently going after his insurance for the cost of repairs and my deductible. I knew it would be difficult to continuously negotiate with him to cover the repairs. Ken completely lied and told his insurance company that there was already damage to the roof and water damage inside our home and that he doesn't feel he is liable for the cost of repairs; After he told me multiple times they are an honest company and he would take responsibility. I think what makes me most upset is that he has the audacity to lie about it and couldn't care less about the amount of stress and destruction this has caused in our lives. The water damage is in our living room, where us and our three children spend most of our time when we are at home. We've had to completely empty that part of the house and all of our furniture is piled in the front of our house, which is also now unusable space. We have been dealing with this for nearly a month now, and are still trying to sort out repairing the damage. I've taken multiple days off of work to have people come to the house to demo the living room (ceiling and walls), give estimates, and do inspections. I will have to take off even more time from work for the repairs. They are crooked, negligent liars, and you SHOULD NOT TRUST THEM! read more

We've used this company twice and will not be going back. We had a 40-ft poplar removed and a 25-ft maple trimmed in 2015 and another 40-ft poplar removed and two large stumps ground in 2016. The company has terrible communication (schedule changes without notifying you, doesn't return calls, can't keep track of work that you requested multiple times, etc.) They left behind trash in our yard on both occasions and did not clean up well (cut branches left stuck in the tree, a large pile of mulch left after stump grinding). They left a large hole in our lawn in 2015 and didn't attempt to fill it in or even let us know about it - when we confronted them about it, we were told that we could have paid for a different removal strategy to avoid possible damage to the lawn, information that we were never given in the first place. I could go on about other frustrations we had with them, but I think you get the point. ETC came highly recommended from a friend and is very competitively priced (which is why we decided to give them a second chance) but I do not recommend them. They do mediocre work, at best, and have poor customer service. read more

I saw several positive reviews about Environmental Tree Care, which is why I chose this company in the first place. We had them shape and prune about 18 shrubs in our yard. We weren't thrilled with the results as the shapes weren't consistent, and a lot of brown was exposed on the junipers. The main problem, however, was the fact that the trimmer did not clean up after himself. For weeks, we picked small branches and trimmings that were left behind. They were literally everywhere. It's been 3 months, and we are still picking them up. I called the company. I was told the owner would contact me; he didn't. I called again and was offered a $25 discount, and told the owner would check in on the property. He didn't. In the meantime, I received weekly calls about why my bill wasn't paid. Environmental tree care - Last fall I hired Environmental Tree Care to do some major work around our yard including trimming an Ash tree in our front yard, removing an Elm from our side yard, an apple tree in our back yard and a grinding several stumps. In total we spent more than $6000 for all the work. There were several special instructions, including leaving all the mulch, cutting the Elm tree to table height, and leaving the wood from the apple tree. We had also just cut down two cherry trees, which were laying on our porch. We intended to use them for smoking meats but had not cut them up yet. They were laying on the porch when Environmental Tree Care arrived to start the day. By the end of the day all the fruit tree wood was gone, including the cherry trees they didn't even cut and the Elm on my side yard was cut to the ground, regardless of the string I tied around it at the table height we had specified. The only good thing that was correctly done in my yard was the trimming of the Ash tree in my front yard. Or, so I thought. Today a massive, obviously weak branch fell from that Ash tree. Now that the branch is gone, I can see the ones that were above it and they also look very weak. So I call Environmental Tree Care, to ask them to come look at the tree they told us 9 months ago would not need trimming again for 7 years, and they said no. They said it was Mother Nature, even though the weather was only mildly windy when the branch fell. (No other trees in my area lost branches, including the nearly dead Elm in my neighbor's yard). They said it would have left a large hole in the canopy of the tree. However, at the time, no one from Environmental tree care asked my opinion on the choice between a hole in the canopy or possible falling branches. I can tell you what I would have chosen if they had. The only reason I did not write a negative review of Environmental Tree Care last fall was because it seemed the Ash tree had been trimmed well. We were happy with it, and all the rest may have been miscommunication. But now I can see that the Ash was not trimmed well. So every single aspect of my business with Environmental Tree Care was mishandled, from badly followed instructions to literally stolen fruit wood, to bad tree trimming. "Phone line issues, we have been busy, don't see a message, etc. and today I am waiting for tree trim service scheduled 9-10am and no show. Finally, a call back from Brody at 10:53 saying they are having truck problems and just can't get to my service appt today and I would need to reschedule for next week.
