For all my plant based friends out there, this spot has a good variety of options for you. Dumplings are one of my all time favorite foods so it was awesome to see that there was a restaurant that offers a good variety of plant based options, and clearly indicates them as such on the menu! You must order their namesake. They have three vegan dumpling options, each at about $13 per order: mushrooms and bokchoy, mushrooms and napa cabbage, or a veggie mix with tofu being the main star. I am a mushroom fiend so I went with the first option. The dumplings come in a container of 12 along with a soy-vinegar and chili sauce for dipping. I also ordered their Soy Noodle w/ Cilantro ($7) as an appetizer. The dumplings here were pretty good! The skin was not too hard and you could taste the veggie juices inside each one. There wasn't a lot of broth itself inside the dumplings so I wasn't able to get that XLB experience I once remembered, but they were still good. As for the soy noodles, I'd probably pass on these as they weren't my favorite and I felt it lacked enough cilantro and chili oil to make it good. Switching gears to my roommate who is a heavy meat eater - he was able to enjoy some classics including the Beef Rolls ($7) and the Cumin Beef ($15). They both looked good from what I could tell, although the small Tupperware size that they use makes it seem like you aren't getting as much as other restaurants would normally provide. Not sure if it's just me or I'm just hungry and want more. There were a few items such as the Green Onion Pancake that wasn't marked as vegan, which was a bummer as it's likely one ingredient they use that makes it vegetarian. Still, you have a few options to choose from and I highly recommend their dumplings. So overall, stick with the dumplings if you are coming here. Other dishes didn't seem to do it for us. Yelp Bonus: They offer a 15% discount on orders if you check-in and can be applied to both dine-in and take-out. Veggies were good to change up the taste especially the pickled flavor. Braised pork was solid! Perfect seasoning and coats the rice well. Egg is cooked through not runny. Hidden off a main road Epic Dumpling proves to be a formidable hole in the wall experience featuring handmade fresh dumplings and Chinese cuisine. The parking situation can be tricky here as the main lot is low capacity for the number of businesses there are. Upon walking in, I was greeted by a friendly server who guided me to a table right away. Ordering is easy to do here through their QR mobile ordering system. We tried their XLBs which were steaming hot with a juicy umami broth and light doughy wrap. Their beef pancakes were okay but next time I would opt for their marinated version. The basil chicken was very saucy in a good way with plenty of basil mixed in. The shanghai pan fried dumplings somehow did not look pan fried at all but irregardless were tasty with a juicy filling. This place is family style with large portions all at an excellent value proposition. Prepare to share and indulge with friends and family. Dimsum looks to be served all day here which is a plus! It was ready quickly and was nicely packaged, and I was super excited to try Epic Dumpling for the first time! - Marinated Beef Pancake Roll (5/5): soooo good. I'd probably come back just for this. The beef wasn't marinated too heavily and the pancake wasn't too doughy. There was only two of us so ordering lots of different options was great to try the spot but we had a good amount of leftovers. The price is justified for the large portions they serve. After finishing our morning walk in windy rainy weather we wanted to have some steamed dumplings & since it's Lunar New Year we thought why not let's go for it . This is written in Chinese as 过年好 / 過年好, and translates to "Guò nián ho". "Guò nián ho" is pronounced as 'gwor-nyen haoww' in Mandarin and 'gwor-nin haow' in Cantonese. I called the restaurant & gave my order for pickup, I took advantage of Yelp check in(15% off on above30$). Amazing customer service kudos to them for treating every customer so graciously. After paying I was about to pickup the order & leave, the owner said to the daughter to give BBQ Pork Steamed Bun ( free of charge) as a token of thanks which was so appreciative & I was completely surprised. They told me to try it's their most popular item. These are the dishes I ordered - 1) Wonton (Chicken & spinach filling) noodle soup- broth was amazingly good & piping hot it had carrots, black fungus mushrooms & bok choy. 2) XLB Shanghai Soup Dumplings - it had 6 pieces amazing taste & flavor. 3) Cantonese Shrimp dumplings - 8 pieces very flavorful we loved it. 4) Green onion pancake - 8 slices we loved it. 5) Beef Chow Fun - good amount of beef slices enjoyed it very much. 6) BBQ Pork Steamed Bun - 3 pieces , nice balance of flavors & pork chunks we loved it. Maybe I ordered the wrong things but the food was just okay. Salt and pepper fish was dry and a little overbattered. Not sure if I got lava bun or egg custard bun but it was more like egg jelly. After checking the prices at Din Tai Fung I made the executive decision to try this new spot out and i was not disappointed at all As soon as we got there we got seated and we got offered water orrr HOT TEA howww sweet. Yummy, but a little pricey! After comparing three dumpling options we decided on Epic. We ordered a shrimp/chive dumpling, the veggie dumplings, a scallion/garlic pancake, and chive and egg pancake. Everything came out as it was ready and was hot and fresh. They have a window where you can watch the little ladies making the fresh dumplings when you drive up. Some people have commented on the thick dumpling wraps but my mom and I enjoyed them. Mom is tough to please and she really liked them. The scallion/garlic rolled pancake was chewy and delicious. The chive and egg pancake pocket was also fresh and tasty. The inside of this place is small but most people came for takeout here so we only saw 8-9 other people the whole time we were there. We came here on 12/12/20 around 1:45pm to pick up our takeout order. Their dimpling menu had a lot of variety and it looked like there was something for everybody. We ordered the Spicy Beef Noodle Soup, Pork Dumplings with Napa Cabbage, Xiao Long Bao, and Beef Dumplings with Carrots. There was nobody when we came so it was pretty quick to pick up our food. The Spicy Beef Noodle Soup was spicy but good overall. The Pork Dumplings with Napa Cabbage was good, the Xiao Long Bao was delicious, and the Beef Dumplings with Carrots was not bad. We were full after finishing everything and it was a very filling meal. Overall, the dumplings were good here and would recommend checking them out if you want some dumplings. read more

COVID-19 DELIVERY After having horrific dim sum from another "hot and new restaurant" a block away, I was hesitant about trying another new Chinese restaurant in the area. That restaurant shall remain nameless but the food was bad. So bad, it would make Uncle Roger dry heave, bust out his feather duster, and chase the chefs with it. If you grew up in a Chinese household, you know what I'm talking about! What sold me was Epic Dumpling's 15% off check-in deal for takeout! Except I ended up ordering delivery before checking out of a hotel so apologies to the restaurant (no discount for delivery). If you work/live nearby def take advantage of their check-in deal for takeout! No indoor or outdoor dining. Epic Dumpling serves a mix of Northern Chinese, Taiwanese, Shanghainese, and Americanized Chinese cuisine, plus Cantonese Dim Sum. I wasn't sure how the food would turn out since they don't focus on one region but I was pleasantly surprised that it was good. I believe they're related to Dumpling Garden (Mountain View). I ordered via DoorDash and my food was delivered within 45 minutes of Epic Dumpling confirming my order. Despite the dasher getting lost and my order arriving 20 minutes late (1.7 miles away), the food was still warm. I appreciated that everything was neatly packed with condiments (black vinegar and housemade chili sauce) and the plastic bag was double knotted. Sealed utensils and chopsticks were provided. Prices on DoorDash are the same as the restaurant; no upcharges. F O O D * Marinated Pig Ears ($8.99) Solid, the pig ears were fresh and crunchy with a sweet soy marinade and crisp julienned scallions. * Sheng Jian Bao: Pan-fried Soup Dumplings (6 pc - $7.99) No squirting action but the SJBs were big and fluffy soft with a moist pork filling. The golden brown bottoms were still crispy despite delivery. Enjoy these with these the black vinegar. * Taiwanese Pork Chop Bento Box ($11.99) --Pork Chop: Good portion of pan-fried pork chops. It was tender and flavorful, though too salty for me. --Tea Egg: Decent, the soy marinade didn't penetrate the egg enough though. --Bed of steamed rice with stewed pork: Comforting and delicious with the pickled mustard greens for a bit of tang. --Steamed Cabbage & Carrots: Tender with a bite. Overall, pretty solid and aside from the pork chops being salty; it's almost comparable to Old Town Shanghai's Pork Chop Rice. * Braised Chicken Feet ($7.99) Good flavor but the chicken feet wasn't braised long enough. Missing that meltingly soft skin and cartilage. Also, $2/foot seems a bit steep. * Siu Mai (8 pc - $8.99) A tad dense but decent. * Har Gow (8 pc - $7.99) Not a fan of the thin, translucent seashell-like wrapper but the shrimp filling was good with firm, crunchy shrimp. Their housemade chili sauce is really good. They only provided two small containers so do ask for more if you like your food with heat. Overall, Epic Dumpling is a pretty good new Chinese restaurant but your experience may vary depending on what you pick (dim sum items were the lowlight). There was a line of people outside to order or pickup. After a little wait, I was able to place an order. The staff were friendly and engaging as I placed my order. I also asked about how long they had been opened (a few days) and if there were plans on indoor dining (not any time soon). They have a Soft Opening 10% discount, and if you check in with Yelp you get a 15% discount. As I waited, a few more orders (I think from GrubHub) came and went. While waiting, you could see dumplings being made through the front window. Soon my order was ready. The food was good. I will need to visit again to sample more of their menu. read more

We went back a second time because we enjoyed what we had ordered the first time. However, on the second visit, the food wasn't that good. The kicker for this visit was that the Dan Dan Fresh Noodles was listed as being spicy, but it wasn't at all! There was no spiciness to the dish! They gave some sauce on the side, but it was the peanut sauce, so where is the spiciness like it says on the menu!? Definitely not a traditional style Dan Dan Mien. Also, the Cucumber Salad with Black Fungus, wasn't that good either, not the traditional kind either. Not the diced cucumber like other places. The Spicy Beef Tendon, they didn't even marinated it, they just pour some sauce over it. So, it's not marinated like other places. Oh, and this time the Beef Pancake Roll was over done, you can see the over-fried burnt markings. The Xian Jian Bao was still pretty good though. Neighbors were hyping up this place in nextdoor so I knew I had to go check it out. I love me some yummy xlb. I ordered through the app and arrived 5 minutes later. They told me to come back in 10 minutes since the food wasn't ready. So I walked over to Felipes and picked up some groceries. I came back, checked in on Yelp and got 15% off my order. We were going to eat the food in the car but decided it would be too messy and quickly drove home. Honey walnut prawns were a little too crunchy w/ a very thick batter for me. The snow pea leaves were delicious, and it was a generous size. The fact that Epic Dumpling can survive off the main drag "El Camino" is a testament in itself. This obscure cousin of DTF also has a see-through glass window where you can witness workers wrapping dumplings of all kinds. Since good dumpling houses generally specialize in Northern Chinese cuisine, we just had to get an assortment of wheat-based delicacies. What really stood out for me were the Shanghai pan-fried soup dumplings, marinated beef pancake roll, beef pancake, and Shanghai pork soup dumplings - aka XLB. The place isn't very big but I noticed many to-go orders. I can see Epic Dumpling being a neighborhood favorite. Too bad there isn't one closer to where I live. read more

I stopped by Epic Dumpling today and noticed a few things. The lady in the back did not wear a mask and saw one of them sneeze over, making dumplings when waiting for my order. I told them I am allergic to shellfish, and the woman who took my order reassured me there isn't any seafood. Guess what, I brought the chive pancake, and there were baby shrimps; luckily, I did not eat them. AND I found a piece of hair inside one of the BBQ BUN!! How is this place attracting so many customers when it is filthy? This is going to be the last time I will come back here; what a waste of time and money. read more

I've never had food that tasted this awful. We ordered three dishes for takeout, and found it to be so bad that we just threw all of it after a couple of bites. The potstickers had a really thick and dry wrapper with minimal stuffing. The kung pao was nasty and had so much oil, that eating it made me really sick. Great spot for a traditional Chinese meal of dumplings and noodles! This is a no-frills restaurant that does the classics well. I tried the soup dumplings, pan fried dumplings, and dan dan noodles. I was very impressed by the noodles, which were very fresh, flavorful, and came with a ton of pork and cucumber. The pan fried dumplings were also a hit, with a fluffy and chewy steamed exterior, crispy bottom, and juicy filling. The service at Epic Dumplings is good- kind, pleasant, fast... the menu is extensive for a 'dumplings' place...dumplings here are sub-par. The pot stickers and dumplings are EXTREMELY dough-y. The dishes and dumplings are all way too salty... and the fried tofu was seasoned with something like old bay barbecue powder???
