Wonderful place to relax! My two buddies (Jeff and Jack) and I stopped by here for some afternoon goodies during our annual fishing trip to Lake Pinecrest. We were not that hungry so we just ordered appetizers and a couple of side salads. 1) Jalapeño Poppers - delicious! Jalapeño pepper stuffed with chorizo sausage, wrapped with bacon and fried. The filling was a nice and spicy tasty sausage. The outside was a mostly cooked pepper wrapped with bacon. These were delicious! 2 & 3)Fried Green Beans and Fried Zukes. Nice spice crunchy coating on the green beans. Zukes were breaded and fried. Delicious too. 4) deep fried shrimp My buddies loved these. Nice spice outer coating and s perfectly friend shrimp. 5) side salads Crispy fresh greens with a nice tasty dressing. Your choice of dressings. 6) Chocolate Cake and ice cream. Order this! Nice thick multi layered rich moist chocolate cake. Very very good. So good that while I was thinking of what to write about the cake, my buddies were helping themselves to it. At first they said "We don't need any dessert". But I ordered one anyways. When they saw it brought to the table, I thought I was sitting with a pack of ravenous hyenas. Almost two hour wait for some mid food .... only thing this place has going for it is the cabin like wood ambiance.

Came here for a bday dinner and we had a reservation for a Saturday night. We were seated within 5 minutes and the service was good. Waitress was helpful and provided all our requests and orders correctly. The food was ok... I ordered the prime rib and everything was ok, the flavoring was ok. The entree comes with veggies, 1 side and 1 soup or salad. My son really enjoyed the kids cheeseburger and fries. My cousins did order the lobster and did not turn out very well. The lobster tasted not fresh, so he asked for another order. They got the steak and shrimp which tasted better. Saturday nights there's a live band on the other side of the restaurant, pretty fun if you want to check out as an evening event. read more

If you want a steak you have to go for dinner. During lunch time they only have sandwiched, salads, some burgers and some appetizers. I ordered the rueben (corned beef), the beef sandwich and the creme brulee cheesecake. The corned beef wasn't good, didn't taste like corned beef at all. My daughter thought her beef sandwich was alright. But she loved the fries. The cheesecake looked amazing but wasn't sweet or very good. Threw it away. The thing that was great here was our waitress. My daughter and I were looking for a dinner place, while in town to go mountain biking at dodge ridge. We don't know the area at all and hit on Eprosen House - and I'm so glad we did! I had a perfectly cooked New York steak with all the right fixings. Everything was done perfectly - from the blue cheese house salad, to the garlic butter on the steak, perfectly sauteed veggies and creamy mashed potatoes. My daughters cheese burger was legit as well. The staff were great - friendly and professional. And of course the ambience is unique. Rustic, without being worn. No shock here at their reviews. Food actually isn't bad but the service especially in the bar is horrible. I'm guessing they think they're the only game in town so they don't need to accommodate anyone who is not a local. Locals were treated like gold. We were treated like outcasts. Went here for dinner, We got two $26 pasta dishes to go. We had a hunch that this place wasn't the best, although it seems to get pretty good business and there were a lot of pretty good reviews. The entrees we got were the linguini and clams, and an Alfredo which I had to add chicken to for $4. Neither dish tasted like it had even the smallest pinch of seasoning or sauce. The linguini literally tasted like just boiled pasta with clams on top. The Alfredo sauce was flavorless, almost like it was just an unsalted butter melted on the noodles. We were very disappointed to say the least, especially for how expensive everything is. This place is not at all worth the price that you pay for less than mediocre food. We did however get the Eppy poppers as an appetizer, and those were really good. Aside from the fact that it was $16 for three okay sized jalapeños. Honestly, you could easily make a lot of these dishes at home, way better, and way cheaper. We use to go every time we were in Twain Harte but now when we go the menu just isn't as exciting, so we end up skipping. Our first visit ever to Twain Harte. We stayed three nights and ate here twice. The dinner and service was so good the first night the we had to return again our last night and even though it was a Saturday night, they did not disappoint. I love properly cooked Ahi. The first night we ordered as an appetizer. It was so good, I ordered the Ahi entree the second visit. My husband had the Shrimp Puttanesca the first night and the Prime Rib on our return. Both were very good. The restaurant was very inviting. Fine dining in a comfortable setting. We considered hanging out in the bar after dinner but our dog was in the car and she hadn't eaten yet. Really wish it ended there since we'd definitely come back but unfortunately, we both woke up the next day with food poisoning (diarrhea and stomach aches) and narrowed it down to this place since the only other meal we had was late morning and something that we eat multiple times a week. The items we shared were the bread, appetizer, and dessert, and we assumed it was the chocolate cake dessert since it was the only unheated food item and served cold. This place was the ONLY place open on 4th of July, and during COVID regulations in place in the small quaint town of Twain Harte. The gal at the front explained they did not have any reservations available until 8pm, at that time it was about 7:10, we were hungry. My bf was already getting hangry and sassy. We had dogs with us so we were restricted to outside, although they offered bar seating but my dogs wouldve never settled there, as one of them can be kind of a jerk. As we wavered our options we said we'd wait... and a gal with an inside reservation showed up and demanded an outside table so I thought for sure I was outweighed since I didnt have a standing reservation at that time. Yet the hostess had said she would seat me outside since I had been patiently waiting and I had dogs... so they honored their initial approach. Rachel and Alexis, the hostesses were graciously dealing with a lot of people coming in without reservations and I was one of them. I was pleased with their kindness and accommodations in such a pressured time. The atmosphere in their back patio was beyond expectations, hanging plants and soft lighting. I suggest sitting in their back patio, even without dogs. The bar: The cadillac margs we ordered exceeded high standards (I am a picky drinker). The mix was perfectly blended with what seemed to be a hint of freshly squeezed Oj. Five stars just for the drink mixture. Hands down. We had a DELICIOUS dinner. To start we enjoyed the shrimp appetizer. Breaded to perfection and accompanied by sweet and sour sauce to top off the flavor, among the usual sauces that would come with that type of dish. (Pictured) Also, the clam chowder that came before the main course was above average, and paired well with their house bread. For main entrees we had the Fettuccine Alfredo with added chicken, suggested by the busser. It was fabulous tasting and exactly as he described. The creamy sauce was portioned to the dish perfectly, and did not over power it. My bf enjoyed the Masala Chicken with garlic mashed potatoes and veggies. He wasnt a fan of the veggies yet he was elated with the flavorful white wine and butter sauce. We dipped the mashed potatoes in the sauce and it was to die for. Beyond all. The experience couldnt have been better. The service was friendly, accommodating and most importantly, exceptionally attentive. Our server (unfortunately I didnt catch her name), served us from the side of the table as to not stress our dogs out who had been thru a long day. She was sweet and charismatic in character. We felt like regulars and it was our first visit. I wanted a nice dinner, and we received exactly that and then some. I hope our next visit is just as enjoyable. So disappointed... I don't know what is going on, but whatever it is needs to be corrected or this once wonderful restaurant will simply not make it. My husband ordered the chicken piccata for dinner and it was inedible. If I had to guess, the chicken and sauce were boiled in a plastic bag. We simply moved on and thought it was just a bad night. I had been bragging on what used to be a phenomenal French Dip sandwich, and convinced my husband to give it another chance.. so a few days later, we headed up for lunch. OMG... the french dip roll was burned on the inside AND outside. The quality of the meat was not at all the same as it once was. We had to send it back. The VERY sweet waitress returned with a dry roll filled with meat and veggies that had obviously been thrown into a frying pan. The mushrooms and onions were burned and the meat now had a dark crust. I am SO SAD to say, but unless something drastically changes, we will not be coming back. I always want restaurants to succeed. What used to serve great food is simply not edible. read more

Ate here again last week and very much enjoyed our meal. Service was great and we were seated immediately upon arrival. My husband just had soup and salad and he said their soup was delicious. I love their salads as they put the dressing on and mix it in a bowl before serving it which makes the dressing very evenly distributed. I ordered the he fettuccine Alfredo with chicken and it was really good. The chicken was so tender and moist. The French bread was also fresh and hot! They also make a good Cosmo here! Their food is consistently good and so is the service!! They have also been replacing the old tables and chairs with new ones and added some new doors, etc..... the update looks wonderful! read more

I've been to Eproson House twice in about 2 weeks. My son and I took my dad there for an early father's day dinner on Friday, June 11th. We had a reservation and were seated inside on time. Service was excellent. My dad and I both had the prime rib and it was really good, cooked to medium rare as we ordered. I got the clam chowder as recommended by our server and it was really good too. My son had a steak and really liked it. Last weekend my wife and I went there on June 18th for dinner. No reservation this time, but we got a table outside and only had to wait about 10 minutes. We both got pasta dishes which were really good. I got the SHRIMP PUTTANESCA and a salad. After dinner on 6/18/21, my wife and I moved to the location on the side where a live band was playing. The band was good. We weren't able to get service in this area even though there were a couple of people running around. Finally I gave up and went to the bar to order our drinks. So to summarize, service for our dinner was excellent, service at the bar was excellent, but service in the outdoor area where the band was not existent, at least for us. Don't come with a party of people! They refuse to split a check if people are at the same table. They refuse to take more than 1/2 cards to pay, leaving one person to have to pay for everyone at the table, then have to figure it out after. It's not even hard for the server to do on their side, they're just too lazy and stupid. On top of that, they charged an extra 22% because we had more than 6 people. Food: a few overpriced options...but the kids meals were absolutely terrible! It was supposed to be a Junior Cheeseburger, the it came a tiny blackened half patty on a regular sized bun. Seriously, it was a half patty. Service: not good. They brought one bread basket with ~5 small pieces for a table of 12. We had to ask for more...several times. They brought the food out in slow shifts, leaving everyone with warm food to wait until it was cold to eat together. Overall, I would never eat here again or recommend it to anyone. read more

Had our best meal (dinner) on this trip to Twain Harte at the venerable Eproson House. Fine dining in a knotty pine cabin/lodge setting. We ate indoors near the fireplace. Business was brisk even at 5:30 on a Monday in mid-October. I started with a side salad with bleu cheese dressing--delicious! They even sprinkle extra bleu cheese crumbles on top, a welcome addition. My entree was shrimp scampi over linguini--well prepared and satisfying. We also had mussels over linguini. Portion was exceptional. Service was friendly and prompt. I enjoying supporting local business in our area. The last time we visited Eproson House I was a bit disappointed when our bill came. I have quite a few food allergies and I've always been able to have the kitchens at our local restaurants be flexible in catering to my dietary needs. I asked if I could order a Cobb Salad and I just wanted a side of beets added to it with my dressing on the side. The salad was ok, but when the bill came, I was charged over $30 for my salad! The Cobb Salad itself is no more than $15 I believe. I only had like 5 slices of beets added to it. We were in shock. The service in the bar area was not great and that is to be expected when ordering food in a bar on a busy night. We did not bother disputing it since they were super busy. My husband works at a local restaurant in town so we are very familiar with how things operate. It's Just disappointing and it may take a while before I forget about this experience to return. read more

So we had a reservation, got seated somewhat timely and sat for 15-20 minutes before anyone even came to take our order. Then we waited another 45 minutes for our entrees and nothing came after our soup/salad course. Finally, we just asked for our our check because we were tired of waiting for our dinner. Not sure what the issue was exactly, as they seemed to have adequate staff to the tables outside. Our drinks came timely enough, but not the food!!
